The first time we went it was really slow, only one other person in the whole place so I was not impressed when our fried zucchini was over fried and rock hard & unedible, but the beer & pizza was still very good. Towards our end of our trip it was late and about an hour before they closed, I ordered a pizza and salad online via yelp. I felt bad for it being late, but figured they were used to it as it is a tourist town. Sam wanted pizza for dinner tonight. After talking to colleagues the past few days, and my fellow Route 66 board members today about the challenges "mom & pop" businesses are facing - I decided we needed to support a local restaurant, rather than a chain. Yes, I know that local pizza chains are franchises owned by local families- we support them too. But, I decided to order from a neighborhood place we were NOT familiar with. We have lived in Bluff Park since 2001, and have never eaten at or ordered from the Long Beach Pizza Company. Why? No clue. It's only 0.6 miles from the house - walking distance. In fact, RonnieWoods and I have walked by it hundreds of times. Literally HUNDREDS of times. Everything we ordered, the pizza (pepperoni, sausage, bell peppers, & mushrooms), meatball sandwich, and Greek Salad were FANTASTIC! I am not a sausage on pizza fan (Sam is), but out of curiosity I took a quick nibble of a sausage crumb - it was great. Nicely seasoned and not greasy. Yum. We have definitely found a new neighborhood dining spot to visit (when we can) - but are now big fans of their delivery service! Mangia! Food is ok, however, as I'm mor concerned with their food preparation. I was down to the last few slices and bit into one, only to find a large piece of plastic buried in the sauce. I could have easily gone to post this review first, but decided to call the restaurant and try to alert them of my issue. My daughter loved the spaghetti pizza. We went after a VB game at CSULB. I don't normal order beer out because it usual gets warm before I could finish. The hours online are listed until 10:30 on google, apple Maps, and yelp. It's a neighborhood spot that I've been to before so I stopped in after work as it was really the only thing open. I haven't been impressed before and wasn't expecting much. I arrived an hour before the posted closing time. I was greeted with an eye roll when I sat down and was asked if I needed a menu. I ordered very quickly to be mindful that they would be closing within the hour. I was asked if I wanted the food for here or Togo, which I replied for here. A few moments later the server came back to tell me that food now was Togo only (although there were several other tables in the dining room still receiving their food) and that the restaurant closed at 10. I apologized and said that everywhere online said 10:30, otherwise I wouldn't have come in so close to closing. The server immediately sat my check in front of me. I got my food togo, even though there were people still dining inside. Took it home, and it was not even what I ordered. I called back just to talk to someone about my experience and get what I actually ordered and the server assured me that I asked for what I got. I wasn't expecting much. This place is what it is and has a certain charm to it. The food isn't great, and then when you're given bad service and made to feel as if you're unwelcome, it adds insult to injury. Lots of cheese which is critical to any good pizza. The sausage topping was really good; big chunks of real sausage. No scrimping on the pepperoni either. I said "we can leave and go somewhere else " and she said "oh that wasn't for you " and continued to look frustrated while leading us to any random table. I tried several menu items for my first time eating at this restaurant I had a vegetarian pizza, the meat pizza, veggie lasagna, the meat lasagna, and a salad bar. The salad bar was excellent and so was the vegetarian lasagna. The meat lasagna was a little heavy for my taste. This is a wonderful spot for locals. I have always had good service and food from here, and the staff is great too. Been coming here for over 4 years now and even after the hardship they went through with the drunk driver crashing into their business they made it back and we were quick to jump back in. They have actually added quite a few more draft beers to their selection which is always nice to have with fresh pizza or buffalo nuggets. Their salad bar always has fresh looking veggies in it and they keep the place well cleaned. TVs are everywhere so anyone wanting to watch the game will have a view from any table. Their to-go service has always been fast and accurate (they get the order right). I have had everything here from their pizza, appetizers, sandwiches, pastas and I have really enjoyed them all. They can even put artichokes in your pasta mmm! It would be wonderful if they were able to set up a closed-off outside dining area so people can enjoy beer outside, that would make this place perfect! WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE TODAY! 6/15/24 LITERALLY RIGHT NOW! We came in around 9 pm. we are regulars, so we know what we want off top. I didn't get the name of the new employee, but she has semi long black hair, acne & and nose piercing. Another young lady was assisting short black hair, I have nothing bad or negative to say about her. Before she got off her shift, she made sure to ask if anything else was needed before heading out. This is the worst I've seen this business & service. You can literally tell the girl was high of some substance. We needed refills my partner raised/ waved to get her attention she acted oblivious. Then I looked back, made eye contact & still nothing. She started strong in the beginning because obviously we didn't need anything. After that, it just went downhill. She was prioritizing her phone & music choice more than the customers. Literally, no one was a priority to her. When she finally was making her rounds, I told her personally I would be addressing her service, and she showed little to no interest or care. It's pretty typical for her age. As well as this establishment do better & pay your workers what they deserve. All the old workers are amazing. Best of luck to this establishment. I won't be returning no time soon. read more
