I mean I guess people like what they like, as this place has been in business since before I moved to LB back in 2001, they've even took over the old Subway that used to be there and expanded - so they must have fans. Don't count me as one of them. As a pizza joint, this is your forte so, it should be refined and polished by now. I mean what are we talking about? Dough, sauce, and cheese. You absolutely must get this triumvirate correct. Mess up the balance of any and you might as well go eat a burger. First knock, charred crust. Salsa was me, no hints of the herbs, just tomatoes. If I can't close my eyes and picture myself in the piazza on a warm autumn day, then what are we doing here? I want that basil to touch my nerves and senses, transporting me to Naples. Second knock. The Mozzarella - I mean this is what you come for right? This is the Star of the show and I'm calling for an investigation; it can't be real or at least not 100%. Let's get it to the lab, stat! Third knock. I also had the misfortune of ordering the chicken Alfredo. Let's just say you can leave your taste buds at home, don't expect to be mesmerized. Bland is too soft of a word, I need to up my Thesaurus game, so I can properly convey that this was some bull ish. The one saving grace, I will admit the noodles were Al dente. Fourth knock. And yes, the coup de grace, after all this - they double charged me and offered nothing in the way to alleviate my inconvenience. My wife paid online and yet when I arrived, I'm informed I need to pay. What is the purpose of having an I online system where you can make payment, and your employees don't know or can't recognize that it's been paid for? Pizza is one of my favorite foods and so my standard for pizza are pretty high. I would give this a 7 out of 10. The crust was my favorite part thick and great flavor. Sadly there was barely any sauce on the pizza which really impacted the flavor. Loved the cheesiness and veggies on top. We ordered to go and that was a pretty easeful process. Very good pizza with a nice full crust. The pizza's are in made in a traditional hand tossed Chicago style thickness. The toppings are fresh and you get good coverage over the cheese. I've tried the Philly cheesesteak with generous portions of steak, onions and peppers but not so much that it overwhelms the pizza as a whole. You'll find a lot of options on the menu so select the toppings you like. Ive also done beef and onions which I like and pepperoni or cheese by the slice. They have some specials always posted. Speaking of the menu, they cover a lot. Sandwiches, salads, and plates. They make a nice meatball sandwich. The interior is cool with lots of pictures and photos throughout. We enjoyed a nice family diner recently at Big E Pizza on a Friday night just after 5pm. Got seated immediately, order was taken quickly. Quite a few tables to eat there, and atmosphere was comfortable if a little basic. Service was friendly and available but I wouldn't call it attentive. Dinner salad came out fast but pizza took 40+ minutes; sure it was busy in there but should a pizza take 40 minutes? On the upside, the pizza was pretty good; we had a meat lovers and cheese, and the kids enjoyed it. Nicely browned crust, well cooked, pizzeria-style pie: heavy on cheese & meat toppings, and a thick and slightly floppy crust. Everything tasted fresh but nothing jumped out flavor-wise, and that's why I'm not sure that it's a pizza I'd crave and hunt down, but the kids liked it so who knows. You know it was frozen because it is not uncommon to get your food still cold in the middle ... not that it's not hot, but rather it's ice cold, almost frozen, cold. Medium pineapple jalapeño (don't hate): everything was bland, the extra cheese I love them for tasted like nothing. Apple pie pizza: it looked and tasted like something junior high boys would come up with if left alone. Side of meatball: my bad for not realizing it didn't come with sauce, their bad for it being a steamed grey ball of nothing. I appreciate their pricing.
