I want to begin by clarifying that this review is based on my experiences with the service, not the quality of the pizza. I also do not use social media or review platforms as a weapon. Those who know me know that I rarely use them, much less to complain, but this is long overdue. I have been a patron of Canadian Pizza since the early 2000s. I genuinely love their pizza and, over the years, have recommended them to countless friends and acquaintances looking for a good pizza spot in Long Beach. Supporting small, local businesses is extremely important to me, which makes writing this review especially disappointing. After nearly two decades of supporting this establishment, I have finally reached the point where the consistently poor customer service outweighs how much I enjoy their pizza. Maybe shame on me for continuing to go back and not saying something sooner, but I kept hoping the next experience would be different. Customer service and organization have been an issue for as long as I can remember. I have tried virtually every method of ordering, thinking perhaps one would result in a better experience. Unfortunately, the problems remain the same. Over the years, I have dealt with orders that were never delivered. I have placed an order by phone at their second location, arrived to pick it up, and found the restaurant closed because, as I was told, "the chef left early," only to then be sent to the other location to retrieve my order. Countless times, I have arrived at the stated pickup time only to discover that my order was never entered or was just being started, adding even more time to the original estimate. What is most frustrating is watching what appears to be a team operating without clear leadership, direction, or organization. Employees are often standing around while orders are delayed rather than working together to process them efficiently. On my most recent visit, I was standing outside waiting for yet another delayed order while having to endure the strong smell of marijuana coming from staff gathered nearby in the alley/back parking area. At some point, repeated problems stop being isolated incidents and become a reflection of how a business is being managed. Good food can only make up for poor service for so long. Unfortunately, this was my last visit to Canadian Pizza, and I can no longer recommend them to others. If someone asks me about the restaurant, I will be honest about my experiences and recommend one of the many other pizza establishments in Long Beach instead. We certainly aren't short on choices. After nearly 20 years of loyalty, I didn't come to this decision because of one bad order, one employee, or one frustrating interaction. It is the result of years of giving this business another chance and repeatedly having the same experience. I truly hope ownership and management eventually recognize that customer loyalty shouldn't be taken for granted. Loyal customers shouldn't have to continually overlook poor service, disorganization, and a lack of accountability simply because they enjoy the food. I kept coming back because I wanted to support a local business whose food I genuinely enjoyed. I gave Canadian Pizza nearly two decades of chances. My fiancé and I came to see an apartment across the street and we decided to grab a quick bite since we parked in their parking lot. We ordered a small one because we had plans to eat at home later, but I wish I would've ordered a bigger one because oh my goodness!! It was delicious! I've not had a pizza this good since last year I think. I am not really a pizza person but this one stole my heart and stomach I recommend this place if you're craving good pizza for a decent price! Something cheap and cheerful that's no fuss. Found this place and decided to get it a try. I've seen it from time to time driving past. Menu wise, it's your classic pizza place. You have many options that's already prepared with their specialties pizza or create your own. Salads and so on. I just wanted something simple so went with one that's already created. They're supreme combo which basically comes with everything. Sizes range from small, medium, large and extra large. Price point, a few dollars difference for each. Ordering was pretty easy which I was picking up. About 25 min or so. It's in a residential area off of fourth street so parking can be a little tight. It's a storefront that looked like it had a little patio seating. But inside there was seating. Restaurant is in one side while ordering and pickup was on the other. Pick up was simple. If you're paying with a credit card there is a fee added to that so be aware. Pizza, it was good. Nothing wow but good. The crust was decent and the portions of items added were good. Could have added a little more cheese to it. Extra large was decent for three or two people. It was good but not like wow I can't believe I tried it. read more

Really disappointing experience. We called in an order for two pizzas and were told they would be ready in 25 minutes. We arrived about 20 minutes after placing the order, only to be told that our pizzas would actually take another 25 minutes. If the order was going to take 45-50 minutes, we should have been told that when we placed the order. We completely understand that restaurants can get busy, but giving customers an inaccurate wait time and then making them wait significantly longer is frustrating and inconvenient. Better communication and more accurate wait-time estimates would have made a big difference. Unfortunately, based on this experience, we won't be rushing back. read more

Like others on here, for the past 20 years I was one of Candian Pizza's most loyal customers. The food used to be delicious and we would order every week. Everything on the menu was good. That has changed, and today was my last time ordering from Canadian Pizza. Like others, my history with the restaurant was so positive that I let the last few misses go and kept trying again, believing that an occasional fluke was the exception, not the rule. Today was the 4th and last chance. My ravioli was like little compressed plastic discs. I could have used them like stones to skip across a lake. Completely inedible. This is the 4th time that their food has been awful. Why did I keep trying to give them another chance? Because I wanted to believe in them and I thought they'd self-correct. Place can look a lil rough in the evening. An interesting set-up where you order in the to-go pick-up area... then just walk few steps next door if you want to sit in and eat. But don't let the place fool you. Their pizza is good! Their dough is soft and just the right amount of toppings. And their Spaghetti w/sausage is really good too. O Canada, our home and native land... As much as I admire the Canadian National Anthem, I wish I could say the same about their pizza. Well, maybe I could if I actually went up to Canada and tried a slice there, but I was really referring to Canadian Pizza in Long Beach. "What makes pizza Canadian?" I thought to myself. I had no idea, and the only reason I got to try Canadian Pizza was because they were on Fivestars. I had a reward for a slice, and I stopped by this pizza shop on the northwest corner of Almond and 4th Street. Since it's 4th Street, you can only imagine how much of a pain parking would be. I parked on Almond and walked south to Canadian Pizza, but as soon as I arrived, I noticed a sign for parking in rear. Did I miss it completely the first time?! However, it was a good thing because the alley leading to the lot in the back is real narrow, and it's the only means to access that lot. The lot is also pretty small, holding about a half a dozen vehicles, so I definitely wouldn't recommend parking there for fear of a head on collision. You'd have better luck finding a spot at Hole Mole just on the other side of Almond, but I'm not actually sure you can do that, even if it's a quick stop like mine. There were a couple of front doors, and I went through the wrong one first. The one on the right leads to their dining area, but I didn't see a counter to place my order. I walked out and back into the other front door, where the space inside was so minimal, but there was a counter to place your order. I also saw the SumUp tablet for Fivestars, but it was off! I wasn't sure why, and from my communication with a couple of their employees, it sounded like they weren't participating in Fivestars anymore? But after I showed the female staffer my Fivestars reward, she decided to honor it anyways. Since there was barely any room inside for customers, I was asked to wait outside, and she'd call me when my pizza slice was ready. I had to stay close to the door so I could hear or at least see her motion to me when it was ready. It was only a couple of minutes before I came back in to pick up my slice of pizza in a triangular takeout box that offers no indication that it came from Canadian Pizza, except possibly the two colors that are the only colors on their national flag. I do appreciate one of the employees offering me a menu when he could tell I wanted to see what other pizzas were offered at Canadian Pizza. I used those couple of minutes to look over the menu and see what would pique my interest on a possible return visit. It was a pretty large slice at $3.40 + tax with the slice being about 1/6 of a large pizza. The taste of the pizza was decent, but the crust looked on the verge of burnt. I still ate it anyways, and it tasted more burnt than it looked. It was only a pepperoni pizza, so I'm not sure how the pizza would have tasted had there been more toppings on there. They also offer cheese pizza by the slice, but I was offered pepperoni without being asked. Luckily, I'm not vegetarian or pescatarian, but if I were either, that would have been a problem, even if the pepperoni could be plucked off the slice. Since I live kind of far from Canadian Pizza, and it's in an area where parking comes at a premium, I doubt I'd return. I did notice that this pizza shop named after our neighbors to the north offers a pizza named after our neighbors to the south. But no American Pizza?? for shame lol read more

A straight up late night greasy pizza joint. The slice is alive and well in Canada. Here is my favorite quality about this venue. Me: I'll give you $ for a slice of pie. Canadian Pizza staff: I'll sell you that pie. When they finish making the pizza slice, they package it in a form fitting pizza box or coffin--depending on whether you think the pizza is still breathing when it leaves the oven. The pizza has an impeccable pizza flavor--almost as though the staff understands it's not exceptionally challenging to get cheese, sauce, bread, and pepperoni to get along. I usually don't write in response to other Yelp posts. However, I must mention that Ranch here is a gift from the sky. I don't care or know if they're watering it down, not watering it down, adding butter, or pouring straight into cups from the Hidden Valley bottle. I do know that the version of Ranch served at Canadian is a glory to taste, and I would snort it back like a hummingbird making a hover pause at a feeder. I cannot attest to the ambience here. I usually just take a slice to go, and then see if I can hoover down the whole slice before I reach any crosswalks or breaks in the sidewalk. No pepperoni... so what happened to my free topping?! And I got charged for the extra topping ... My go to local pizza spot. The pizza tastes like your childhood with a flaky crust and a good traditional pizza. My sister and I always get pepperoni, jalapeño and mushroom and it always hits the spot. Their ranch is one of my faves. We always order for pick up and they're usually really fast. I've also tried their pizza by the slice but that feels a little overcooked and don't recommend. We've tried their wings & breadsticks but they definitely lack in flavor and are on the drier side. As a Canadian now residing in Los Angeles I was pretty stoked to find a place called Canadian Pizza in Long Beach so obviously I had to come check it out as soon as I was in the area. Thanks to dumb luck and my wife wanting to check out a random store, we found ourselves in Long Beach two weeks ago and figured it was the perfect time to have lunch here. Now, I have many questions and levels of confusion when it comes to this place. First, the inside dining area seemed dark so we went to a little walk in area to look at the menu and order our food. Second, what exactly about this place is Canadian? I have no idea. I assume anywhere advertising themselves as Canadian would have some poutine on the menu or maybe just beaver tails or butter tarts for desert but it turns out outside of "Canadian bacon" which appeared to be cold cut pieces of ham, this place has absolutely nothing Canadian to offer. We ended up ordering "Canadian" which had Pepperoni, Canadian bacon, green peppers, sausage, olives or feta which is a pizza you could get back home, but the finished product tasted almost exactly like a Domino's pizza from the crust to the toppings, in fact, if I was blind folded I would of put my life savings on it being a Domino's Pizzaz. We also ordered the cheesy bread squares on the side but instead were given an order of the famous bread sticks, but sure why not. They were fine and came with marinara sauce for dipping, tasted fine. Overall, I would probably not venture back to Long Beach to eat here again. Did I feel like I was back in Canada at all? Ok. Paid $35 and some change with a $10 tip for my large, lukewarm pie tonight. The dough was good. Light, fluffy, perfect. #1 issue- the toppings. They could have completely covered a small size quite well, but for a large? So what exactly did I pay for? Extra dough? There was barely any white sauce or cheese when I specifically asked the order taker to please make sure that these two items were plentiful. I mean, I didn't want extra. I just didn't want my sh$t to be dry. It was damn near powdery. It was also bland. How is it possible to have all of these toppings, AND some extra that I added and the damn thing be so bland? When he came back, I asked a simple question and was put on hold, again, for 5 minutes. I hung up. Honestly, always a great pizza option. The flavor is great, with an abundance of cheese, and the mix of ingredients makes the taste very well rounded. The crust isn't too thick and it has the best crunch as well as a nice chew into the dough. Its not greasy at all, but the seasoned bits on the crust fall off when you bite into it - though I'm not sure that's a problem, I quite like finding crunchy bits on my plate after I devour a slice. My one qualm is that when ordering online, their site doesn't update you (email or text) when the pizza is ready, so I was waiting a suspiciously long time. My two pizzas were ready by the time I called (~40 min later) so I'm not sure how long it would normally take. Even then, when picking up, the pizza was still warm, the crust was still crunchy, and the cheese was still melty. Solid work, guys! Parking can be difficult, and the lot in the back doesn't have a TON of space (narrow entry to the left of the storefront) but if you're just running in to pick-up, I don't see a problem with improperly parking in the lot and quickly scurrying away. read more

Not impressed, was feeling more optimistic about the wings, I ordered buffalo, they are probably the most bland wings I've ever eaten, didn't taste like anything. Similar in style to locally owned, Hispanic-themed pizza places in Long Beach (e.g. Dos Por Uno Pizza located inside Eddie Jr Market, Pizza x Two), Canadian serves good pizza. The group had a craving for pizza, and I've noticed this location many times while driving through 4th St. from DTLB, so decided to drive here. There is supposed to be a dedicated parking lot, but only found the one car long, alley directly West of the location. Instead we found non-metered street parking on Almond...probably would try to park somewhere else next time. There is a pick-up window, where you can place and pay for your order. We wanted to dine-in, so let the young woman at the counter know that, then went back outside to enter the main dining room. There were plenty of open spaces inside, with a lot of young folks eating their slices while watching a bit of TV. There were only two folks working (front and in the back making pizzas). We got a pitcher of water, and after about 15 minutes, the freshly made pizzas came. The medium combo supreme ($17.99 for 12") was really well prepared, with plenty of toppings, and a decent amount of cheese with a slightly sweet sauce. The crust is an elevated version of little caesars (puffed and doughy with the use of corn meal to provide underside crispiness). We also got a medium pepperoni ($15.49), which was as good...thin, greasy pepperoni covering the entire pizza. The four of us finished most of it (2 slices remaining)...probably should have ordered a larger size, since this sort of pizza reheats very well. Even though it was only one person manning the front, she tried her best and her attitude was great. There are also daily specials running, which can make the pizzas a better deal (without it, it's more expensive than others around...not great value). I couldn't find any information why they named it Canadian Pizza. I did learn that Hawaiian style (pineapple and ham) seemed to have been invented in Canada, but they didn't push that version at all here. Yeah, they did have Canadian bacon as a topping, but I always found that to taste basically like ham. There is a place called Can Am Pizza in Bellevue, but that serves East Indian style pizza. So will have to keep a lookout for the meaning of a pizza place that has Canada in its name. read more
