Water heater stopped working a couple days ago. And was not the easy pilot relight. Mike came recommended from my neighbor. Mike was courteous on the phone, on time and thorough with the quote. Mike quoted me through txt and I accepted. We were all set! However the day we were to begin the job, Mike messaged me that he "hurt himself"playing basketball the day before and quoted me a new price of $4,000 above what he originally quoted if he were to do the job at a later date. I have had issues in my house with plumming, I read good reviews about other companies and decided to call them bcuz I had a kitchen sink clug badly. Long story short 800 dollars later, a hole on the back of my house bcuz the exhaust had to be changed, I was told that he had jackhammer from my kitchen to the city's sewer and re-pipe everything and it was going to cost me approx 10,000 dollars and not closing what was going to be open. I was scared to called another plumber because as a single mother with one income I have to be more than careful with my budget, but my neighbor recommended LONDON PLUMBER a couple of hundred dollars, and an hour later I was stress free. Mike is awesome! We had a leak in the bathtub just before Thanksgiving. He was able to slot us in at the last minute before the holiday and fix the leak. While he was fixing the leak, I asked if he did garbage disposals. He said yes and he installed our new disposal directly after finishing the leak. From comparison shopping I would say London Plumbing's prices are fair and competitive and on the low end of average. His work is fast, efficient and clean and he was very friendly (or I'm just talkative). Now, for us, this was the best part: some months back we'd had a backup issue in the kitchen. We'd called a service, which shall remain unnamed, to ask them to snake the drain. They came out, didn't want to snake the drain, they wanted to hydrojet instead. We wanted the snake. The man who came out had a trainee with him. They went out to the trap again, futzed around, came back and said snaking wouldn't work, that there's a leak in one of the pipes and they'd have to jackhammer the floor to check the leak. Thousands of dollars. We declined. When Mike from London Plumbing came out, I mentioned this to him. He said, "I'll show you a really fast way to check whether or not you have a leak." He took me outside, showed me what to do. We did NOT have a leak. We were relieved. He then said, "That guy wasn't teaching his apprentice how to snake a drain, he was teaching him how to rip people off. All you have to do is be fair and treat people right. They'll come back to you and you have business for life." Being fair and treating people right is what Mike did for us that day. Instead of playing on our fears, he does his job. How can you ask to make payment over the phone when you haven't started the job. Per our conversation, I mentioned that you were getting paid once the job was completed on site with credit card or check your decision. Once, I asked for two things the license # of the company and insurance but your answer was I can't do the job anymore because I have another Job, go look for other plumbers thru the yellow page. Inclusive, now that I can recall I asked you to forward me an invoice and your response was I can't send an invoice but I can only text it to you. When in the beginning of the conversation you confirmed the job for tomorrow before asking those two questions. Really Michael what kind of person are you? This company was sent to us through our home warranty. The plumbing in our whole house was backed up. Instead of snaking the entire house (which would have been covered by the warranty), he said the clog was in the main line. He said he'd have to come back the next day and install ground level clean outs in order to get to main line. This would all cost about $1200 (and was not covered by the warranty). We were desperate, so we agreed. After installing the clean out and running a camera through the line, he saw nothing in the main line. He installed another clean out in another part of the house and snaked it. During that process, his machine broke and he had to go rent one from Home Depot. He was finally able to unclog the pipe (which was under the house and would have been covered by the warranty). When we questioned him about this, he made a comment about his wife freaking out about little things when she was pregnant too (I'm pregnant) and how "people never want to pay". When we talked to the home warranty company about the issue, they said the plumber said the clog was in the main line and therefore not covered. Overall, very unprofessional company with inadequate equipment. I'm not sure if he genuinely misdiagnosed the problem and then had to cover it up, or if he was trying to get extra money out of us the whole time. read more
