I have been a repeat customer to Ray May Plumbing since 2007 (19 years this June). They've been to my home on seven different service calls for water leaks, a slab leak, a water heater replacement, and an inspection for insurance documentation. Their work quality with repairs at my home have stood the test of time, and so today, this was the 8th time I've needed their services. My issue was a pinhole leak behind a laundry room wall with the original old and thin copper pipe installed many decades ago. What a mess. I called Steve at Ray May Plumbing and as usual, he handled the call with a sense of priority but very respectful of my scheduling. He's a gentleman. I was fortunate that someone was available to respond within the hour - that someone was Armando, who was great to work with. I cannot highlight that part enough. And completely in line with their history, I was billed appropriately and it was absolutely reasonable. That was the easiest check I've ever written. You get what you pay for and believe me, professional experience and skills are a big part of that service call. read more

Stay away from Ray May plumbing. Crooks to the max. They charged my condo a ridiculous amount to charge my shower cartridge around 2020 after Covid. Seems they've moved locations and deleted their previous yelp review because I had uploaded photos of their rip off scheme. Go with Vortex plumbing that just did a recent job and charged me only $217 as opposed to Ray May whose storefront used to be in front on the Montclair police department. Wonderful, awesome, terrific company. Had a hot water leak under the slab inside my house. A knowledgeable friend recommended Ray May Plumbing so I called and they sent Armando who did a thorough inspection and determined where the leak was located. Then he and Jake came back, got to the leak with as little damage to the floor as possible and repaired it. They also found a gas leak to the clothes dryer in the garage that we didn't even know was there and shut off the gas to the dryer. The next day Armando came back and filled in the hole in the slab and fixed the gas line to the dryer. Awesome skilled and personable folks. These guys have 4 1/2 stars for a reason. I went through three other plumbers before finding them. They are old school plumbers- meaning good quality work at an honest price. What these companies out there are doing is paying minimum-wage plumbers and the only way these guys can make any money is to sell you something that you don't need or quote a very high price so they can make a commission- horrible business model. I was literally quoted $500 an hour for labor only from two separate companies before I found Ray May. Can't recommend them enough. read more

My wife discovered a wet area in our upstairs hallway carpet a week ago - never a good sign. So I contacted Ray May Plumbing for assistance. They had been helpful in the past with a few projects so they were the first ones to come to my mind for assistance. Mike came to evaluate the situation, but was unable to find the source. So he advised us to wait a few more days to check if the wet spot enlarged. He did not charge us, but kept the ticket open until the problem could be solved. Armando, came to check the situation as Mike was unavailable. Nevertheless, he found the source of the leak and advised on the repair. The estimation was reasonably priced.
