This unique place is located right near Golden Gate Park with adequate parking limited to 30 minutes. So eat fast. Haha no the food here needs to be savored. There is a nice selection off the main menu for Happy Hour 4-6pm. Providing an opportunity to sample one or more of the menu items as an appetizer. I chose the mussels with garlic bread, as good ones are not found easily. The portion was quite ample, and the sauce I dipped my nice crunchy garlic bread in was very flavorful, warm and delicious. I also tried the plantains which were cooked perfectly; not too mushy with a perfect char, and the sweet onions on top were also tasty. Paired with a very tangy dipping sauce. All the flavors came together well. My husband ordered the Cantina burger which he enjoyed down to the last bite. Our daughter also sampled off the smaller menu with Lomo Empanadas and the Chicharron de Pollo which she reported were both very nicely prepared. Will, our server gave us excellent recommendations which we availed ourselves of. The bill for 4 items plus the burger, a side of rice, and a ginger beer came to just under seventy dollars, which was a reasonable price. I would definitely give the food five stars, and the restaurant four as it's a long and lengthy bar with a few tables for two. The majority of the seating is in the back with two flat screens and an open kitchen. I can imagine how loud this place can get. We went at the perfect time: not a lot of customers so we received excellent individualized service from Will. I would hope to be able to return next time we visit GG Park and sample some more menu items like the Peruvian Paella which sounded very promising. read more

Craved Peruvian Food for dinner. Been here for brunch, first time for dinner. Started with the Yuquitas a la Huancaina - garlicky yucca and love the huancaina. Kiddo kept the leftover sauce to pour over his rice. Kiddo ordered the Lomo Saltado, additional $4 to make it a la pobre. He ate it all up. I went with the Pescado a lo Macho. I have been meaning to stop by here ever since they opened up. Well I finally got the chance. A bright restaurant with bar area in front and dining seating in back serving Peruvian food like lomo saltado and fresh seafood like ceviches. Wonderful, helpful staff and friendly service from all. This place was amazing. I was so happy to try out Lomo Libre. We started with the Cesar salad with shrimp. Great flavor, very fresh, avocado, and shrimp added for some nice crunch and seafood. Next the Oysters with the leche de Tigre and ceviche clasico. Both were briny, salty, citrusy,and plump. Next came the Lomo saltado and tallarin saltado. The sauce was just enough for both and not overpoweringly salty, sweet, or anything. Lastly was the chaufa. Not my favorite, a little over seasoned to my liking, but great still. My favorite from the night was the ceviche clasico and Lomo saltado. Everything from the night was amazing though and I will definitely be back for more! read more

They have a great happy hour here! Wednesday-Thursday from 4-6 and Fri-Sun from 3-6!! My husband adores this place and comes here once a week. He loves the Lomo Saltado, oysters and ceviche. This is a great spot to order some tapas to share. They have big flavors and a welcoming, homey atmosphere. The bar is huge and I see lots of people come in solo and sit at the bar and watch sports on their big screens. This place can get busy but they're worth the wait. Their ceviches are all on point. Try the sampler trio and decide which is your favorite! Empanadas are yummy and there is a vegetarian option. Burritos will fill you up! The burger is pretty good but I'd recommend trying their Peruvian fare. Next time I go, I want to try their Pulpo! The food and service here were great. Apparently the owner of Fresca owns this place. Our server Giovanni was awesome. He was so personable and very accommodating. The manager was also very nice. We were there for Happy hour (4-6pm Wed-Sun) so we ordered directly from the happy hour menu. We ordered the garlic fries, cantina burger, ceviche Clasico, mussels, chicharron de pollo, and margaritas. (We actually ordered almost double of everything cuz it was so good. LOL.) Everything was delicious. My favorites were the chicharron de pollo, garlic fries, and ceviche. Chicharron de pollo were lightly battered chicken thighs but still crunchy and so flavorful. It reminded me of bigger pieces of the Taiwanese popcorn chicken. Can't go wrong with these garlic fries. And the I appreciated the large chunks of ceviche. It tasted very fresh. Loved my margaritas. We all wanted different levels of sweetness and Giovanni did an excellent job communicating to the bartender who happened to be the manager what we each wanted. Side note- Although we ordered the cantina burger medium rare, it was a little too rare for me. Many times when you order medium it comes out on the dryer side so we requested medium rare. I have a new "go-to" spot for great Peruvian food in SF. I was craving for some ceviche and my friend saw that this place opened up a few months ago. We decided to come here on a Saturday night and shared the el toro salad with lomo strips, ceviche quatro (classic, verde, puerto and Nikkei), pulpo, oysters and fideos achupados. All of the ceviches were great. My favorite was the puerto. I think it would have been best to start with the Classico since it had the mildest flavor. The verde had a kick to it while the ahi in the Nikkei was just perfect. The salad was a lot bigger than what I expected and was really tasty with the lomo strips. The pulpo had the right amount of tenderness and the fideos was a great main with plenty of seafood. We were both impressed by the food quality and quantity. Needless to say, we had plenty of leftovers to take home. Service was good. The restaurant can get noisy especially when seated in the back near the kitchen. With tax and tip, this was around $90 per person, which is great value for the food. I'll definitely be back. Highly, highly recommended!!! read more

What a cute spot! They started as a food truck and now have this location and their sister restaurant puerto 27 in Pacifica. We walked in at 5pm on a Saturday and were seated immediately. As a person who is half Peruvian, this is some of the best chicha morada I've ever had! We also ordered the happy hour burger with yuca fries and salchipapas. Everything was very fresh and delicious, with plenty of yummy sauces served with everything. The burger had a plantain in it which gave it some sweetness. Upon walking in and placing our order, my first impression was that it had a cool vibe with a long bar with plenty of bar seating. My Peruvian carne asada burrito was not bad but I came across several pieces of chewy meat which I was unable to chomp through. I recently tried the classic ceviche here and it was really good. The flavors were fresh and well balanced. I liked the corn that came with it because it added a nice texture and sweetness. The flavors were spot on and really comforting in that classic Peruvian way. My vegetarian sister ordered the tofu lomo saltado, which I was excited to see on the menu since many Peruvian restaurants don't offer a tofu version. She was pleasantly surprised at how well it was done (ate the whole very large plate). We also tried the yuca fries and the flan. They were good, but not the best I've ever had. The mains, however, were SO good that they easily made the meal. Overall, this place really impressed me. I rediscovered Lomo Libre after a couple of years absence when they had closed for renovation. I dined twice in the past few weeks and I have to give them praise for serving really delicious food, in a sports bar, no less. I'm an early birdie so it's great that they open at 4 for happy hour and dinner. Behind the bar is a lone bartender who takes care of the whole house. Also there's a small station at the end of bar manned by a ceviche/oyster master. He brought me my oyster shooter, served in the cutest boot shaped glass. For food I enjoyed the Happy Hour Choritos - Peruvian mussels and sausage in a most addicting sauce; the other time I had the Conchitas - seared scallops that was plated and tasted like fine dining! Their desserts - flan and Peruvian picarones - are also pretty tasty. Lomo Libre is an excellent sports bar with lots of seating in the front bar area and group seating in the back. It was only 5 pm on a Friday, so I was searching for happy hour in the Sunset. Found Lomo Libre Cantina, so we trekked down to check it out! This place has a HUGE bar. It pretty much takes up the whole restaurant! Thankfully, there was a table available for us. Otherwise, we would have to sit at the bar. Service was kind of rough. The guy didn't say much. We asked for another glass of water because the glass was sticky and he just took it and brought another without saying a word. No apologies or anything. Not even a smile was given from the moment we stepped inside. It was like that throughout our meal. Don't expect to get warm and fuzzy speaking with the waitstaff. Doesn't look like it'll happen here. My bf had a margarita and I had a sangria. I enjoyed the sangria and it's fruitness. Honestly, it tasted more like spiked fruit punch than wine. It was definitely easy going down! But the glass was half full! Because it's happy hour, they won't fill it to the top? That was disappointing. My bf's margarita wasn't even in a margarita glass. Maybe if it was, it would be too much alcohol given out at happy hour? Might as well give us all shot glasses. 3/5 $1 oysters (we had 10) - a few were with sand or pieces of oyster shell. I know it can be hard to shuck oysters, so that can happen. Though it ruins the whole experience when you're grinding down sand between your teeth. The oysters came with mango mignonette which was like a salsa. 3/5 Bang bang chicken wings - I think there 5 or 6. Tasted good like San Tung. Average-sized wings, nothing huge. It was deep-fried and had a sweet chili sauce on it. 4/5 2 Lomo Burgers - Big plate looking empty with a burger on it. Maybe if they plated it differently, such as placing the lettuce, onion, and tomato on one side and having the burger open, it wouldn't look so bare. It would have been nice if there were fries or a salad next to it. The burger wasn't anything to write home about. It was a basic burger. The patty was well done. We weren't asked how we'd like it cooked. I guess all the burgers are cooked that way. 3/5 IMHO, nothing stood out for me to want to revisit. read more

Really enjoyed this place! Came here in the late afternoon when they had happy hour. Ordered garlic fries, empanadas, chicharrón, and lomo saltado noodles. All of it was good. The one thing I'd recommend is eat your garlic fries quickly as they get cold quickly and these ones aren't as great when they are cold. In terms of service, 5 stars for sure! They were so nice because we were there a while they dropped us off a flan at our table even though it had been a while since we'd paid our check. Overall, it's a great restaurant. I'd totally come back. There is a really great mural in the restaurant and lots of televisions if you're looking to watch the game.
