The food is amazing - so yummy and big portions! People are nice; place is clean. Big menu - several sandwiches, chicken burgers, salads, sides. Will go again!

    Half full sauce.

Wow. Just wow. Buckle up because this is a doozy. Lola's has been a staple in Alameda for years. Once upon a time this was one of the best places to eat in the Bay. The quality was outstanding. Big, juicy, tender chicken strips, sauces to die for and lots of them, and the best fries around. Note the repeated use of past tense. That is because the current store is NOT the Lola's of many years ago. The last four times I have gotten food from this once great establishment have been varying degrees of disappointment. The most consistent issue is the DRY, BURNT state of the tenders. The chicken restaurant has dry, burnt and recently, flavorless chicken. The oil tastes old, they are consistently overcooked, and the size of the tenders have been getting smaller and smaller. Fries are ALWAYS cold or old, which is a shame because their fries were the best. Period. And now we come to yesterday. My partner and I wanted a treat, both craving just ONE more Lola's meal like they used to be. This time we ordered from DoorDash. The store was running a 2 for 1 deal on tenders. We ordered the 8 piece tender meal with the 2 for 1. 16 tenders for about 15 bucks? Sounds amazing! The food arrived suspiciously fast, as in from order to my door about 20 minutes. For once, the food was hot... but that's where the compliments end. THERE WERE 16 TENDERS THAT WERE LITERALLY ALL 1/3 to 1/2 their normal sizes. Some of the tenders were glorified chicken nuggets. AND THEY WERE BURNT. WHAT IN THE ACTUAL HECK IS GOING ON? Was this a scam to get rid of overstock? I expected what was sold to me, 16 chicken tenders. We paid extra for sauces because they didn't give enough for the 8 piece. ALL OF THEM WERE HALF FILLED. LOOK AT THE PICTURES. What is going on? Is this a training issue? A staffing issue? Do the owners not care? Do they not have any pride or love for the food they are serving the community? I would be ashamed to put this into a box, charge someone for it, and go about my day. Lola's. You had it all. You apparently still have a following. Do better. This is completely unacceptable and genuinely sad. Despite a decade of coming here, this will be my last meal until I hear that things have improved, because this is just outrageous.

Update: i called at 12:35 03/19/26 to complain about the horrible tasting mac and cheese and what i found on the chicken. instead of apologizing he said that the mac and cheese is his #1 selling item and sells about 600 orders of it a day. he said their nothing wrong with and is NOT moldy, and just wanted to fight with me. i told him he should try the mac and cheese before selling it to more people. he told me to call a 1800 number if i want to request for a refund from the 3rd part i ordered it from. i ordered from Lolas website no 3rd party. i put a complaint in but and the number listed to call is LOLAS number. there is no 1800 number available. i explained this to him over and over and he just wanted to keep getting louder. i said ok ill find a 1800 number to call. at 12:54 i called back, requested the manager again. i told him the website told me to call this number back, do you have a 1800 number to call to request a refund. he said no. and that he cant talk to me right now about this due to a lunch rush and hung up. 3:39 called AGAIN and now he was not there. the girl employee answered i asked if she new a 1800 number i could call when placing an order directly from the website she said " i am just and employee here i don't know" LIKE WHAT?! y0our an employee there, you should know! they also tipped them selves an extra $9 that I DID NOT AUTHORIZE making this horrible lunch for me, husband, and daughter $60.36!!!!! i am shook, disgusted, disappointed, and extremely upset how this manager handled this situation. he didnt even want to offer to make it right the first time around. Do NOT EAT HERE. please PLEASE save ur money. The Mac and cheese tasted moldy. I still have the taste in my mouth. The tenders were burned. The classic tenders had a raw plastic rubber type thing that looked like fake chicken skin. My daughter said it reminded her or hard slime. I called and asked to speak to a manager and he said to ask for a refund thru the 3rd party I ordered from. Sir I ordered off YOUR website and it said to all your store which I did. This is so disappointing. My recipt also said I was supposed to get 2 drinks.. only got one. I used to come here all the time and I have been craving their food. Save ur self DONT DO IT

    Lola BURGER and French Fries

First time trying Lola's... the place was practically empty, so I'm guessing they do a lot of delivery, since there are recent, positive reviews. The staff were very nice (looks like a family run business), the whole place looked clean (including the restroom), and service was very prompt. The food was HUGE. My salad was enough for 2-3 people- likewise with the burger and fries. Three tenders were ordered but four arrived, so they must be paying attention to the size of each piece, which we appreciated. The food was delicious! My salad was very fresh and the fries were hot and crunchy. This place would make a good study spot (if allowed)!

Every time I walk into Lola's, I say I'm going to try something different but 3 years later, I've only had the Asian Citrus salad. It's just so delicious. Chicken, goat cheese, poppy seed dressing and mandarins? Sold! Every. Single. Time. It's a hefty salad and very reasonably priced. The salad comes with their signature chicken so if you choose any other salad, I'd recommend it's one with the signature chicken. That's the star of the show.

Service is always great, Andrea is always friendly, first time I notice a change was when I picked up my food and the new owner started yelling at the staff member because she was wasting a big bag on my food... the bag was too big for my order for 5 people. Food then started to get reheated and my tenders were dry, the southwestern burger still good. I returned again because I really wanted to give Lola's a chance and my tenders felt like they been reheated at least twice. I attached pictures see for yourself, honestly the change of ownership has made it easier to let go of Lola's a place where I used to eat at least 2 times a week, I am just sorry for the people who works there. They deserve so much better.

lola's chicken & cabo chicken sandwich came here in a sunday after the lunch rush. place wasn't busy at all. there were only two people working from what i saw but the service was quick and friendly. the place is a bit outdated and old but the food was great! both sandwiches were cooked nicely. not dry or hard as some people have claimed. i loved the slaw on the lola's sandwich. the curly fries were crunchy and as expected. the chicken tenders were HUGE. one was too much for my toddler. that's definitely a save some for later kinda food. i would come again just to try the other chicken fixings they offer. the place isn't pretty or hip but the food is awesome.

    California Club Sandwich
    Jessica K.

Sunday, early evening, dining in alone. Quiet, since there's only a couple other people there. I ordered the California chicken club, garlic fries and a bottle of Coke. The young man at the counter was nice enough. The order was over $25, which is kind of a lot for 1 person. The chicken club, I ordered it without the goat cheese. I dunno what was on the bread, but it was so soggy when it got to me. Like it was sauced the day before, or the tomato was put on the bread the day before. Honestly, I didn't eat it as a sandwich after the first few bites, I just ate the tenders. If I ever have to eat here again, I'll probably just order tenders. The garlic fries, the flavor was actually really good. The texture was nice and crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. The big downside. They were cold when they got to me. I guess I shouldn't say cold. But they were room temp. Not warm. Definitely not hot. How is that? It's not like I was waiting a long time. I was there probably 5 or so minutes after I ordered. $25 to be this disappointed. Ugh. I would give this place a 2.5 if I could. I'm not super angry. Just disappointed.

Hella burnt. Hella dry. No flavor. NEVER AGAIN.

I didn't wanna give this one star but no choice. First time trying since living in alameda all this time. NEVER AGAIN. No flavor. Hella dry. Hella burnt. Almost $20 down the drain (we ordered fries and I guess the one star was for that - it's edible). How do you get chicken tenders wrong? Well, I guess come here and find out. SMH

Ambiance: Lola's is a sit down restaurant with a respectable interior that does its purpose as a food establishment. In addition, It has a lot of seating so it's a great place for big parties. Service: this restaurant has an ordering desk where you put in an order and wait for your food. The service was quick and friendly Food: we got the honey mustard chicken sandwich and the Asian citrus salad. The chicken sandwich was very good with a well breaded and crispy piece of chicken. The bread was nice and fluffy and the simple toppings complimented the chicken nicely. I did not think the cheese they used would pair well with this sandwich but it fit perfectly. The Asian citrus salad was light and had textures and flavors that complimented each other perfectly. I loved that they put the salad dressing on the side so you can control flavor of the salad on your own.

Fried chicken and a fresh healthy portion of salad was just what I needed. The restaurant was clean and the staff was very nice.

Only been here twice because I'm a little far from Lolas now. I used to come here often for highschool many years back. I have to say those signature chicken tenders are SMACKING! They are even better than what I remembered. The staff here are super nice and theres always this kind lady at the counter to help, classic old school hospitality. Definitely going to come back here for more of those delicious chicken tenders! Every bite is so hearty - crispy, chewy and extremely well seasoned!!

New fries do not go with the cheese used in the cheesy fries. Just go back to the OG fries, these new ones don't taste as good.

I recently ordered a honey mustard chicken and I asked for the bun to be toasted. When it arrived at my house I got a hamburger bun bun instead. I think my instructions got mixed up I Wanted the Semifeddi roll toasted?

Could you please bring back the thin crispy fries instead of the steak fries that replaced them?

I was in the area looking to grab a bite before heading to Southie to catch the Hawks manhandle the Niners. As usual, the restaurant that I always look to forward to visiting is Hummus Republic. Once I found some parking around the corner, I was happily skipping down the block towards the entrance, until... The place was dark, and no one was inside. I had to do a double take to make sure it wasn't one of the scheduled closed days. Sure enough, it was not. There was also no signage on the window or any mention of a vacation or emergency. It was just... closed. As I looked inside, I noticed some furniture and decor had already been removed, so I knew it was beyond the point of no return. In any event, it is indeed a dark time for me, as I frequented Hummus Republic quite often. Yes, I know it is a chain, but the nearest one that I know of now is all the way in Livermore near the outlets. Honestly, it's not completely a shock though, as this particular location was often empty, and I also heard that rent is quite high. There are also alternative Mediterranean shops in the vicinity, such as Tahina and Q's, but none of them combine the level of freshness, convenience and overall value as Hummus Republic. Although it's a lazy comparison used a zillion times before, just think of Hummus Republic as the Chipotle of Mediterranean fare. Depending on who you get serving you, portions can range from large to absolutely gargantuan. It's no exaggeration when I say that a single bowl serving is pretty much enough for both lunch and dinner. Coming from a pig like yours truly, that is saying a lot! Sadly, this exact address also seems to have a high turnover rate, as I have seen a myriad of various businesses sprout up there in recent years. Hopefully the next tenant will provide something to fill the inevitable void. RIP Hummus Republic! You will be sorely missed! The only thing that improved my mood after witnessing this sad news was watching the Hawks absolutely mollywhop the Niners. :‑D

I love this location and restaurant because I know I will always be taken care of. The chicken is always well prepared, tender, and juicy. The hummus options are delicious. The street mix is a must. And don't be afraid to get some of grandma's hot sauce The spot is good for people that like to select the things that go into their salads and pitas. Tons of options and combinations of flavors. I would recommend the spot for somebody looking to fill up on a meal to those that are looking for healthier alternatives. If you're in downtown Alameda, definitely give this a shot. Check their hours and days of the week they are open - I've defiantly show up to a closed spot and had to come back the next day!

Later, when our waiter said he didn't know how, I went back to the hostess, and she immediately said, "Oh, they aren't working." So why not just say that from the start? They clearly already knew the three outdoor heaters were out of gas. It's winter -- something guests should be told upfront. We asked if we could sit inside and were told no because they had "only one waiter." Yet I saw at least four different servers working. We stayed only because we had already ordered -- we're not shady like that -- but honestly, transparency would've saved everyone the trouble. Food: *Caesar salad was cut oddly and overpriced. *Pesto pizza tasted more like spinach -- one of the least flavorful "pesto" pizzas I've had. *Two dirty water cups. *Asked for ice twice and never got it. *Sodas only came after asking twice. Overall, not worth the visit. Better communication, working heaters, and basic attention to service and facilities would've made a huge difference.
