It's been over a decade since I came here! I used to come here after school to get the Quick Bite combo with a free strawberry soda back in the days lol I told the worker about how I used to come here and she said it's still the same owner. She said it's been 16 years since she worked there. Atmosphere: It's a small little shop. There is no seating area. You have to order to-go. Service: There was no line. The lady was really nice. It took about 10 mins for her to fry the fish I ordered. Food: I got the 4pc catfish with a side of macaroni salad. The fish was fried upon ordering. It was hot, light, fresh, juicy and delicious! It was just as I remembered! I wanted the coleslaw but she said it was sold out, so I chose the macaroni salad. It was tasty and complimented the fish very well! Overall, I recommend coming here if you are craving some fried fish. They have different kinds of fish, such as catfish, snapper, sole and tilapia. In addition, they have chicken wings, popcorn shrimp, popcorn chicken and burger as well. They fry the food when you order it so you know it will be fresh and hot!

You should really update your damn website! Because I rode Bart from concord only to get all the way up here and find out you're not even open that you lost your lease

A one woman show, but definitely the spot if you're into fish & chips. So you basically order and come back in like 10 mins to pay and pick up your food because she makes the food fresh. The wait to order could take some time depending where she's at in her process and how many people ahead of you. But once you get your fried goodness, you won't regret it. I got the 3 way combo, and it hit the spot. The prawns were a bit small, the chicken wings were good, but the fried fish was what I was craving and it did not disappoint. Fries were great too! Not too many fried fish places around, but I'm glad this one is here.

Whaat! I've worked near this area for over a year and never knew this place existed. Can you say hole in the wall? It's such a tiny shop, that this place can easily be overlooked. Quick Bite excels at fried goodness. Everything here was fried perfectly and deliciously. I think its a dangerous thing that I have now discovered a place that serves fried food. I ordered the combo with my coworkers, used the $2 off coupon on orders greater than $12. I bought 2 combo, minus the $2 coupon, came out to be around $17. It came with about 3-4 fried chicken wings, 3 fried catfish, and cajun fries. A couple of our orders got messed up, so instead of fries, we got macaroni salad. Gross. Anyways, my coworkers were kind enough to share their fries. The best part of the meal would definitely have to be the catfish. The batter was unique and tasty, not too salty, and the fish was juicy and tasted fresh. It paired very well with the hot sauce. The chicken wings were okay, definitely need more hot sauce on those. The cajun fries were regular cajun fries. The macaroni salad wasn't good, I'm not a fan of macaroni salad in the first place. Definitely wanted more cajun fries. I recommend getting the cat fish! I will definitely be back to try other items on the menu, but I must take a step back from fried foods for now. The food coma will definitely hit you!

Good soul food style fried chicken wings in a tiny divey downtown Oakland storefront. Cooked to order and only 2 small tables so essentially a takeout spot. Red beans and rice was only ok. But the wings were tasty and seasoned properly. Next visit I will get to the catfish, oysters and other down home options that will irritate my personal primary care physician. JYW recommends.

I usually order a #2, #7, and #13. It's very affordable, especially if you're on a strict budget for lunch. $7 sandwiches? I mean it's a pretty good deal. #2 Banh Mi Dac Biet/Special Combo Ham Sandwich - If you're looking for a cold italian sandwich but want to explore new options this is a vietnamese version that also has pate butter taking it to the next level. #7 Banh Mi Xiu Mai/Meat Ball & Egg Sandwich - An elevated version of the #3 with an added egg. This was my absolute favorite as a child and still is now. Nice balance of sweet and salty. The meat is tender and with the added egg yolk that pops when you take a bite takes it the next level. I think this is also slept on since I don't see many people ordering it. #13 Banh Mi Xa Xiu/BBQ Pork Sandwich - This is their secret weapon. My god the sweetness from the bbq pork with the pate butter is incredible. I always look forward to eating the bottom end of the sandwich because that's where most of the flavor and butter are hiding. The pickled veggies help give it the acidity it needs for a well balanced bite. By far my favorite. They also have many other options besides banh mi that make and sell on the day of like Banh Cuon, Che, Egg rolls, etc. Definitely give those a try especially the Mochi Ham sandwich aka Banh Day they got there too. I always have a hard time choosing between the #7 & # 13 so I always end up getting both. Service is straight forward, you line up, order, and wait for them to call you up for your order. Simple. You don't have to ask me twice if I want to grab some banh mi here. But do be aware that at certain hours of the day it can get very busy and crowded. Either to super early when opening or closer to closing about an hour before. For new comers, I highly recommend starting off with #7 or #13 for your introduction to their banh mi for a better first time experience.

The ratio of bread to meat to pickled vegetables was not great. The pate, which I usually love, was also off and had an unusually strong unpleasant smell. The only thing that made the sandwich edible was the bread itself. It was fresh light and airy as I remember it to be. I hope they will focus and maintain quality in the future. I regretted spending $65 there for food I was afraid to feed my family.

I ordered the sando and fries combo and enjoyed them at the picnic tables nearby. 5/5 Chicken sandwich I'm no fried chicken connoisseur, but I really enjoyed this sandwich. My mild fried chicken sandwich was crispy and savory with a hint of sweetness. The coleslaw was a creamy tangy addition that paired well with the sandwich. It's nice they offer various spicy levels; the mild is flavorful without burning off your taste buds. 4/5 Fries were nicely spiced with cajun-esque flavors. Not spicy at all. They included a mysterious (aioli?) sauce that went well with the fries. Fries were crispy though without the pillowy insides I crave. The portion was huge, quite shareable. I also tried a few bites of the thick gravy seafood etouffee. Other folks in my party were impressed with the flavor and generally liked it, but I didn't care too much for it. You might enjoy it if you, too, enjoy curry-type food. I don't often eat fried or hot chicken, but I consider this to be one of the better spots locally.

We ordered a chicken sando, the chicken and waffles, and a couple sides -- the greens and etouffee. The sandwich was the clear highlight: moist chicken thigh with a breaded crunch, covered by a thin layer of mayo coleslaw. The light, sweet crunch of the cabbage and carrots gave balance to the dark meat. The waffles were crispy but just soft enough you could wrap them around the chicken to make a sweet sandwich out of that dish too. The server was very friendly when we came. I expressed curiosity about the different heat levels, and he shared nuggets batter d in the medium and hot sauces. He shared our excitement at trying the hot stuff! For the record, the medium is hotter than your typical spicy chicken sandwich and probably a safe go-to. The hot level just cracks "painful" but not unmanageably so -- might be fun as a treat. TBH I was pleasantly surprised by how much flavor each sauce packed -- and how different they were. The medium is especially sweet. Go for the sando. Crank up the heat. It doesn't miss.

However this location, they are a pro at dipping ice cream cones in melted chocolate. We both ordered a regular sized chocolate soft serve with chocolate dip. Chocolate on chocolate is the best combo. It was the best dessert. I wish they had this chocolate dip at the location in Concord which is closer to me. This location is a lot louder because of the high ceilings and it's also connected to the Emeryville food court. It's not as cozy as some Super Dupers that I've been at in Mill Valley and Concord. The grilled onions in my burger was supposed to be caramelized but was more on the raw side. The additional mushrooms that I paid for were basically two slivers of mushroom. The cook at this restaurant needs to learn how to make caramelized onions and to put an adequate amount of whatever people pay extra for. The burger came out very lopsided and looked and tasted like a salad and not a burger. I've been eating veggie burgers for a decade now so this is definitely the least cooked veggie burger at a Super Duper. Also the bun was burnt and was blackened on the edges. Thank God for the hand-dipped ice cream cone because that was really what saved the day for me.

The spicy chicken tender was moist, tender, and the texture was even and had some chew and slight crunch. It was a decent size, but it wouldn't fill me up by itself. My nephew had asked for some spicy chicken, to have a little kick to it. But he said that the "Spicy" level chicken "felt like a kick to the groin". The medium chicken was also tasty, and I preferred it over the spicy one. These were a bit smaller, like the width of two nickels side by side. What really struck me as off were the fries themselves. They were salty, and they had sliced pickles and a dash of cheese and sauce--but they were practically naked. What the hell were they doing back there? Is it that hard to sprinkle more than a pinch of cheese, more than a drop of sauce? For the meal, $21 was expensive, and seemingly not worth it. Three stars.

The flavors are rich and laid on thick. We ordered a veggie burrito, a bean and cheese burrito with rice added, and three tacos (carne, pollo asado, and Cameron's). The carne melted in my mouth, since it was rich with rendered fat, and the tortillas were crisped around the outside to melt and seal the layer of cheese inside. Probably our best overall dish was the bean-cheese-rice burrito -- covered in their salsas and peppers -- since it balanced all the ingredients and textures. On the other hand, the veggie burrito brought the flavor, but between the crema, pico, guacamole, and cheese it ended up soggy halfway through and the tortilla threatened to come loose. The shrimp and chicken were forgettable, and the tortillas come crispy off the griddle but they are damp by the time you walk anywhere to sit. What captures the truck in a nutshell are the chips they serve, covered in a seasoning that replicates Doritos flavor. Sometimes that is exactly what you need. But you can get it elsewhere easily too.
