Love this place. Still the best local breakfast and coffee around. My favorite drink is the Lavender oat Latte. All the coffee is excellent and well prepared. Their vegan burrito is my favorite meal (with vegan sausage). But I haven't had anything I didn't like. It's a good vibe and the seating outside is so great with good weather. My last review was so many years ago! We continue to love Lolas, we go almost every Sunday. They have so many vegan and vegetarian options. I love that they got rid of the plates and are back to serving food on the wood boards. My old favorite mixed berry flatbread wasn't as great a month or so ago, maybe because it wasn't berry seasons, but the Sunrise Flatbread is my new obsession. As I am a Ladera Ranch native, I have been here over a dozen times and every time I am extremely pleased with the food and service. Recently, I have come to love their mixed berry flatbread: a light crisp bread with savory- salted mascarpone, topped with fresh berries, honey, and mint. If you are in the mood for a true comfort, I would suggest their grilled cheese and tomato soup duo: it is a perfectly crisp grilled cheese oozing with gruyere; and the tomato soup offers a punch of flavor, but is not too heavy as their version on this classic soup is cream free. If you are looking for a drink to go with your meal, my absolute go-to is their Lavender Arnold Palmer which features their house-made lavender syrup. To be honest, you cant go wrong with any drink that has this syrup - for example, today I got an iced lavender latte with coconut milk and, oh goodness, its is delicious!! With the help of Matthew, who so amazing and helpful- he is the definition of customer service- he not only knew the product in his store, he was very patient on helping me figure out my birthday gift pastry gift box while he was on vaca. Great spot for a cup of coffee and a bite to eat! I have a soy allergy and when ordering my latte they double checked the oat milk they use to make sure there's no soy product which I really appreciated. The avocado toast was perfect! The food and drinks came out quickly but I will say that we did go early in the morning. I think they get pretty busy so I'm not sure how fast things go when they're busier. I absolutely love the fresh food, the service, and the old timey ambiance of Lola's cafe! As a New Yorker of 15 years, I feel at home here. Their ability to remember regulars' orders and their attention to detail is of high quality service. I get so much work done here as I feel comfortable like I'm in my second home. I'm always happy to see Evelyn running around. She surely runs the show when in! Carla always has a huge welcoming smile on her face, and Mel makes my coffee to absolute perfection! Matt the owner is always fun to chat about music with and his realness is so refreshing. As somebody who also works in the hospitality business, I appreciate this little cafe so much. The food is above bar. They use fresh ingredients, no seed oils, and they have plenty of gluten free options, too. Their fresh breads and pastries are to die for, and their coffee is incredible. I just love this little gem in Ladera and I'm always happy to see the familiar faces working there. This is like home away from my home kitchen! I got a breakfast burrito and was not happy with it the temperature was super warm when I got it but overall was not happy with the taste of it and I was expecting the burrito to taste more like a traditional breakfast burrito but it didn't not. What a gem! Lola's has the charm and cozy atmosphere (check the pictures) that I love to find in a cafe along with wonderful food, coffee, and personal service. I got the breakfast burrito and the pairing of flavors was top notch with tasty meat and cheese, avocado, and sweet potato hash browns - what a combination! I typically do not really care for sweet potatoes but this was fantastic and will be my go-to order - seriously! Next: coffee, oh so yummy. I got the last day, I believe, of summer flavor and this end of summer memory will stay with me...at least until I can get a fall flavor. Lola's Cafe is one of the few places you can go in south Orange County where you feel the authentic café vibes you would in small shops in big cities. However, I don't believe their quality is quite the same as other shops I have visited. Today, I ordered a latte with one pump of the rose and cardamom (La vie en Rose) syrup. I felt as though the syrup itself didn't really deliver as the flavor described. I'm aware one pump is quite different than three (their standard); but, I solely only order my coffee with no sugar or just one pump of syrup at every other coffee shop as well. Therefore, even though I limit the amount of pumps there are in my drink, I still expect the flavor to be as described on the menu. Overall, my latte wasn't anything of great quality for me to be inclined to purchase again. The coffee itself wasn't as flavorful as I hoped. You know you have a good cup of coffee when there's no sugar or light sugar in it but you still enjoy it. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case with my latte this morning. I do want to mention that the person working the cash register today was very kind and helpful. I appreciated talking to them and loved seeing them be so helpful with others. However, I believe the service delivered by others, other than this cashier, wasn't great. I was informed my order would be called out by my name when I paid, therefore, I waited for almost 10 minutes before deciding to ask for an update since I didn't hear my name being called. Once I approached the "pick-up" area, I saw two lattes with no label or name on them. I tried to wave down a staff member to ask if either were mine. But, I watched the barista who made the drinks walk off and not provide any help or call out names. So, I asked for assistance by another gentleman. He was trying to be as helpful as he could by informing me that the barista left and he didn't know the drinks. It's obviously not his fault and I felt bad that he seemed so flustered. Luckily, the latte I had to "guess" was mine, was actually mine. I just think Lola's Cafe imitates what authentic cafés are in cities like Los Angeles without providing the same quality. The price, definitely matches Los Angeles. Very expensive and not worth the portion you receive. I am not inclined to purchase any food at this establishment because you pay over $13 for a sandwich with no sides. That's a biiig price for not so much food... For me, Lola's Cafe is just not worth going out of your way to visit. It might be for Orange County locals who are looking to "switch-it-up" from big chain coffee shops that are so prominent in this area. But personally, I think if you venture out to Irvine, you could find authentic coffee shops that provide larger portions and unique drinks for a fair price. read more

This cafe has a pleasing aesthetic, including art for sale and photography throughout! In addition, the owner and employees are friendly and helpful. Such a cute, yummy spot! We have only come for breakfast, but the food is great. I've ordered the avocado toast which is light, and yummy. Love their artisan bread they use. The breakfast burrito is soo good. They use sweet potatoes, turkey bacon, and a spinach tortilla which makes it much lighter and nutritious. Love their take on a traditionally heavy item! Coffee and iced tea is fantastic. I really enjoy the egg and avocado sandwich as well. Great kids menu! My kid loves the quesadilla, sweet potato tots, and nut butter and preserve sandwich. My only complaint is seating can be a bit tricky as it's seat yourself and gets busy. Quaint cafe with both indoor and outdoor seating. We ordered the breakfast pizza, arugula salad, avocado toast, a banan nut waffle, pistachio latte, and hot chocolate for the kids. Overall, everything was good. The breakfast pizza with gluten free dough was recommended by an employee. I was hesitant, but we ordered it. Let me start off by just writing about the PEOPLE at Lola's. When I entered, there was a flustered lady just before me who needed a jumpstart on her car (she wasn't there for coffee). The staff kicked into action and put her needs in focus to see if they could help her. That was a really good sign of a business that wants to be a citizen in their community. The other thing I wanted to highlight was that the owner, Matt, approached me during breakfast complimenting me about my Yelp photos and asking to use them. YES what a compliment to me! Please, anything I can do to help! This isn't the Tom Douglas celebrity-chef Seattle restaurant, this is a cute community cafe obviously designed around getting people together. Great art adorns the walls and tables and the food is tastefully and healthily prepared and presented. I had an excellent Deconstructed burrito bowl - did you know Breakfast Burritos could be healthy? Yuppp - Turkey Bacon, Avocado, Sweet Potato Tots, Arugula...delicious and guilt-free. They also have some great coffees. I had a Cappycino which is spiced with some chocolate and cinnamon and also La Vie en Rose which is also just fantastic. My first time here and my only regret is that I didn't come here sooner. I ordered the lox sandwich for breakfast and it was fantastic. I'm picky on lox sandwiches and it is hard to impress me. I wish I had taken a photo of the dish, because the presentation was so nice on a wood block. I also ordered the chocolate coated cookie. Sorry I can't remember the name of the cookie. It too was very good. Never tried anything like it before. The other thing that impressed me was the customer service. They have a lot of great choices from pastries to cold brews, lattes and a nice food menu. We tried a great delicious gourmet slice of cake from popular Cake Monkey Bakery in West Hollywood LA. Pastry chef is Elizabeth Belkin and they have been featured on Unique Sweets and in Time Out Los Angeles, Bon Appetit, LA Weekly and The Los Angeles Times. The specific slice of cake you see here is a triple berry GLUTEN FREE and it tastes fresh, amazing and love the abundance of the fruit in each layer! The ambiance is nice and the staff is very sweet and friendly. This was a nice visit and we are looking forward to coming back soon and trying their breakfast and brunch menu! It was almost comical watching him move with sloth like pace, it's almost like you have to be purposeful to be that slow. I understand this isn't a Starbucks with a conveyance, but 15 minutes for a cappuccino and hot chocolate is a little silly. Unfortunately, this place hasn't gotten any better over my last few visits. I have been back a few times since my last review and it seems like cutting corners has become the norm here. I was here with my coworker and we both ordered pastries and coffee. I took a bite of my croissant and it was completely cold. I asked if they could warm it up and they said since I had already taken a bite, they couldn't. I understand the sanitary reasons why, but I feel they should have offered to warm it up before handing it to me. Most people don't enjoy cold croissants, much less one that costs as much as it did. My coworker ordered a large Americano and they gave her a small (or medium, not sure which one). When she pointed it out, they poured what was in the smaller cup into a large cup and filled the rest with ice. This place is cute, but it's just not worth it.
