Latte - Chai Turmeric and cold pressed juice

Food was fresh and wonderful. The service was warm, helpful and kind. The atmosphere felt comfortable, like everyone was family. We will for sure be making this a stop whenever we are in town.

Love, love, love! Today was my first time enjoying Lola's Cafe and there's nothing negative to note. The cafe is so lovely. Great seating, painting on the walls and a welcoming atmosphere. They also have a great patio for outdoor dining too. The staff were all fabulous, from the cashier to the servers, everyone was upbeat and friendly! I enjoyed a refreshing Arnold Palmer with their new Veggie Club. Both were exceptional!! I'll be back soon to try some sweet treats for sure.

Lola's is a charming cafe and gem that is frequented by the locals of Ladera Ranch. The inside of the cafe is cozy and the workers are super friendly and inviting. Also, while it's on the pricier side, they use high quality fresh ingredients. Once you place your order up front you find an open seat (they have indoor and outdoor seating). Out of all their options I settled on their Turkey Club Sandwich which has turkey, gruyere, turkey bacon, avocado, lettuce, tomato, and garlic aioli sandwiched between rustic artisan bread. It also came with a side of chips and their house pickles. I usually don't order sandwiches because they can be so hit or miss at cafes, but the sandwich here was definitely a hit. The textures and flavors were perfect and the garlic aioli brought everything together. Also tried a bite of their mixed berry flatbread which was delicious. Seems like you can't go wrong with anything on the menu, I'm curious to try their other offerings.

Visited right around noon to have lunch with a friend I haven't seen in awhile. Parking can be found in front of the restaurant or behind the shopping center strip. Service was disorganized and slow. The salad I wanted couldn't be made because they were supposedly out of strawberries and they could only offer to sub it with tomatoes. How pathetic. So I ended up getting the iced chai and kale and shaved Brussel sprouts salad with salmon add on. My friend got the Lola's salad. My drink tasted like bitter medicine perhaps due to the generous use of cinnamon. My salad had a lot of shredded Parmesan which was overpowering. The chickpeas in the salad wasn't crunchy or soft. Just stale and bitter. The salmon tasted like handsoap or hand sanitizer that got transferred to the fish. It tasted like chemical and had an acrid taste to it. The shop had indoors and outdoor seating. The outdoor seatings had ant infestations on the wall ledges and on the ground. I felt sorry for my dogs who suffered through the heat and ants crawling all over them. The store associate said they would bring us water bowl for dogs but it didn't happen until right before we left. All in all, I wouldn't mind returning in the future if in the vicinity or to catch up with my friend. But I wouldn't reorder the chai or the same salad. Perhaps I would have better luck with other sandwich options and drinks.

The Quinoa Butternut Power Bowl with the lemon house dressing was fresh and perfectly tasty. The service and ambience were inviting. I will come back later for some more.

This breakfast burrito is tasty and the tortilla chips taste homemade.

What a quaint little shop. The turkey club had a Lotta Flavor. The service is great but I think it s the little Cafe feel that makes this place a local fav. The cookie was great. The soup was great.

Went for a Saturday brunch around noon for two. You order at the counter and they have indoor and outdoor seating. Drink orders get called out and you pick them up and you get a number for food which they drop at the table. They have smaller tables and larger tables and although it was busy, we didn't have any problem with getting a table. The service is on the chill side and quite slow. The patio was incredibly dog friendly with multiple dogs showing up while we were eating. It's a fun quirky cafe and the decor matches the feel of the restaurant. We got a cold brew coffee and a iced ganache mocha. Cold brew was strong without being acidic. The ganache mocha wasn't particularly sweet. We got a breakfast burrito which tasted like a diet breakfast burrito. It was flavorful, but the turkey bacon and the lack of a fatty sauce or greasy potatoes makes it a much lighter breakfast burrito compared to most restaurants. We were warned when we ordered the French toast soufflé that it wasn't traditional French toast, but a baked soufflé. The dish came exactly as promised and was a sweet rich and pretty dense treat. The tomato soup and grilled cheese were both well done and paired perfectly.

We decided to try Lola's over the weekend. The cafe has a warm and cozy vibe. Love the decor and that they have inside/outside seating. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We ordered the proprietor's vegan breakfast burrito, eggs and bacon that came with pancakes. Unfortunately the vegan burrito was a miss for me. I think it would definitely be better with some Just Egg and no grains. To add egg to the burrito was an additional $3.75 (With all of the add on options I feel it's a little pricey but to be fair everything is pricey these days). Not sure if they had vegan egg available, but next time I can clarify. I do give props to Lola's for having vegan options available, so thank you. :) My kids love turkey bacon and eggs. Would love for that to be available on the kids menu. We ordered from the regular menu and had them bring extra plates to split. Love that they have turkey bacon on their menu. My husband had the pancakes and loved them. Overall a good experience.

Came to try this place out while our daughter was on break for her volleyball tournament up the street, and I'm glad we did! It's a quiet little corner spot with indoor and outdoor seating, amazing staff and delicious food. We ordered Lola's breakfast burrito (pictured already bitten, we couldn't help ourselves lol) and the bacon and eggs sandwich. They also gave us some salsa that wasn't spicy but super tasty. Before leaving, a kind young lady mentioned that we could refill our hydros and if we wanted ice, they would gladly grab it for us, how sweet. I definitely recommend coming here

Bonnie S.

We try to stop by every time my son plays at the Ladera sports facility. Everything we have had here was fresh and good. I would highly recommend the lemon bar! So good The coffee is always good here. My husband and I shared a breakfast burrito. It was small and just enough for us to eat pregame. They always seem pretty busy, I think we waited almost 15 minutes which was cutting close for us. The place is cute, clean with lots of seating inside and outside.

Lola's Cafe is a gem. Food I routinely order at a restaurant like a breakfast burrito or an arnold palmer has been completely reimagined here. They make actual lavender extract themselves, and the lavender arnold palmer I ordered was extraordinary. I plan vacation itineraries around restaurants I want to try and so I really mean it when I say this is a spectacular place. I met the owner and learned what a fan he is of music as there is cool memorabilia and art on the wall. He was very considerate and rushed two breakfast sandwiches for my son and his teammate who were in between games for their sports tournament up the road. I also bought a bag of coffee beans that are locally roasted for my husband to try. Highly recommend.

Heather R.

Lola's is a little low key spot that seems to get a lot of local love! The line was long, but there was a good amount of seating. They have a pretty good sized menu for breakfast and lunch, and even vegan options for those with dietary preferences. The lavender latte and the chai latte were both very fragrant and good. The chai latte was on the sweeter side, and the lavender was a bit softer on the sweetness in comparison. The breakfast burrito was the perfect size, and had some unique ingredients like sweet potato hash browns and some sort of aioli! The burrito came out scalding hot and surprisingly took forever to cool down (only real frustration), but otherwise the flavors were so good. I seriously don't know how they got that egg so hot! The egg inside was boiled, so that was definitely different compared to most other places that use scrambled eggs, but, oddly enough, I didn't hate the switch up. I'd definitely order this again. The breakfast pizza was real good too. It was essentially the breakfast burrito deconstructed on pizza. I can't wait to come back and try the pastries & french toast soufflé, these also looked incredible!

We don't get over to Ladera Ranch very often but this place looked good enough for us to pop over for a go. Service is great.... The food comes out fast and they do have table service where you order at the counter and they give you a table number.. then they bring your order to you. Food is great.. tried the avocado toast which I devoured... nicely seasoned and plenty to share. Will definitely come back for more... they have these ding dong looking treats at the register that we wish we had tried. Next time!

Tried it today. The place is super cute and clean, no indoor seating yet and very limited outside seating but mostly in the sun. They need to work on that, more umbrellas maybe? So, I was very disappointed with customer service today. My husband and I ordered our food and got the last table outside in the hot sun. A couple finishing their meal at a bigger table were leaving and I asked if we could have their spot. They kindly said yes. While we were eating, the server asked us if we could move to the table in the hot sun to make room for a large party coming in who hadn't even ordered their food yet. My husband politely said we cloudless hurry up. The server said thanks. The couple behind us were in awe - told us what the server did was so rude. I agree. Why are we less important than the big party that came and hadn't even ordered yet? We waited patiently for a spot. Why couldn't they? The server came out and while we were eating was moving chairs to our table setting up for the big party. Didn't let us finish. The server commented how hot the sun was and I said "yeh and you wanted us to move to it." He laughed and said oh yeh. We left. Won't go back. You try to support a small business but they need to learn proper service. Food wasn't worth the treatment! read more

My new favorite go to! Apparently, they have been around for a little while and I am so bummed I just discovered them recently after a friend mentioned it in passing. Can't say enough good things. Great for a girls breakfast or lunch. Or after school snack with the kids. Order at the counter and then grab a seat so it's not formal, yet very upbeat and happy vibe. Whimsical, yet modern decor that is warm and inviting. The food is fabulous. I am head over heels for the kale and brussels sprout salad with a scoop of their curried chicken. And their bread is to die for if you eat bread. I believe they also have many vegan and gluten-free options. And don't forget those ice cream sandwiches in the freezer. Our first visit, having gone past Lola's many times as we're out and about in the community. Upon entering, we immediately enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere of a locally owned cafe, with an almost home-like feeling due to the amount and variety of art and other decorations throughout the cafe. No same-old, same-old cookie cutter feeling of every one of the thousands of Starbucks. The menu was adequate to meet our desire for a light lunch. We asked for chicken salad and egg salad sandwiches, along with a coke and an iced tea. Although there is lots of seating in the cafe, we chose to sit outdoors at one of the several shaded tables. Our order was delivered in a timely manner, given the hand-made custom nature of preparation and the many customers on site. My egg salad sandwich was nicely portioned, with a large fresh bun. My wife is a fan of chicken salad sandwiches and she claimed this sandwich was the very best yet! It may have been the light curry seasoning. Like my sandwich, it too was piled to overflowing. The only negative of our entire experience was the price, $31 and change for two sandwiches and two drinks. This being only our first visit, I don't know how much Lola's may have had to raise prices to meet what has surely been rising costs to stay open. I am happy they continue to be a part of the community and we plan to visit more regularly. read more

I'm pretty sure I have never set foot in another cafe/coffee house in south Orange County that is anywhere near as good as Lola's. There are plenty of other 5 star reviews here, so let's just say they are all true. Michael, the owner, is always there - so friendly and helpful. His staff is great. I will even go so far as to say this place is one of the best I have ever visited (including ones that I used to go to when I lived in San Francisco and NYC). The food is outstanding. My only complaint is they're not open for dinner! There is a Starbuck's less than a two minute drive from here. Pass it up and come to Lola's, support a local business AND get better coffee and food! Please make the effort to visit here - it's worth the drive from anywhere you are! read more

History

Established in 2016.

We moved our family to Ladera Ranch in 2010. There were no independent coffee shops or healthy food options. We figured we would open a place of our own where we'd want to go to. Hence, the idea for Lola's Cafe was born.

Meet the Business Owner: Ava and Matthew S.

We love Ladera Ranch (and live here)! We wanted to open a place that didn't exist here... Eclectic ~ Fresh ~ Community ~ Independent ~ Caffeinated... A place LDR truly knows exists because of where we live.

Had such a great brunch experience at Ramos House Cafe in San Juan Capistrano!…read more We went for their weekend brunch, which is a set menu where you choose a small plate and a large plate. The restaurant is located right on Los Rios Street, the historic street in San Juan Capistrano, so you're right in the heart of the cutest part of town. The space is really charming -- it's outdoors but covered, with lots of plants and rustic details that make it feel cozy and unique. Our server was also so sweet and helpful throughout the meal. And the food was really good. For my small plate, I got the fava bean treat, which was kind of like a little salad with bread and a fava bean spread on the side. I didn't really taste the black truffle part. The large plate was the roasted vegetable hash, and this was definitely my favorite. It was seasoned so well and had so many different grilled vegetables packed into it. The fried poached egg was also fantastic! The only part I'd probably skip next time is the tomato foam, but that's mostly because I'm not a huge fan of foams in general. The brunch is $49 per person, so it's definitely more of a splurge, but you do get a good amount of food and I thought the quality was really impressive. There's decent parking nearby, or you can try to find street parking around town and walk over, although weekends can make that a little challenging. It is located in the beautiful historic town of San Juan Capistrano founded in 1776. The two-story red brick and wood building that the Restaurant occupy was constructed in 1883 and served not only as the town's courthouse which was Then presided by Judge Richard Egan. But it also served as Judge Egan's private residence on the second floor. Following years of vacancy, this building has undergone near total interior and exterior restoration, preserving its 1880s structure while converting it for commercial use. It is known as "Egan House". Years ago, prior to its restoration, i had the privilege of walking onto the front porch and peeking through the windows of this old courthouse as it was still vacant and, in its original interior state. Today. As i walked up these wooden stairs once again and onto the front Porch, i was immediately transported back in time. There is lots of free parking around the restaurant. The exterior has 2 outdoor dining areas. One on the side of the building and one along the narrow front porch baluster. The doors and tall windows look very similar. So i almost missed the front door if it wasn't for a printed sign that said "Entrance" next to the entry door. I must not be the only one :) The interior is charming and bright, and maintains its 19th century vintage character blended with modern and vintage decor. The walls are covered with Historical photographs. The indoor dining area is known as "Harmony Hall" There is also a small private dining area on the second floor. Great for a group or a celebration. There are 3 separate restrooms. 1 on the first floor and 2 on the 2nd floor. Not bad for an old building. You order first. Grab your number and find a table. As you stand in line, you'll find a free standing menu rack. I don't see this too often and i think that it's a great idea as that gives you time to look at the menu while waiting in line. As you make your way to the register, you walk along their display case that showcases all the pastries, cold sandwiches and food bar. I really like their menu. So many good dishes. And It offers something for everyone. I love that you can order any of the menu items all day. So, today, I had my breakfast at 2pm :) The menu is too long to describe. So, Please see photos for the complete 6 page menu. I ordered the Spanish Omelette, a peach ice tea with green tea. And for dessert i had a mixed berry crostata. I got my food in less than 10 min. The service was great. I did not realize that there was a self serve utensil and condiments station. So, my server was kind to get me some utensil and showed me where the utensil station was. The Spanish omelette has shredded machaca beef, peppers and onions. Topped with House Salsa, Cotija cheese, Crema and cilantro. I opted to leave out the Crema as i am not a big fan of sour cream. This was one of the best omelettes i have ever had. It was warm. The eggs were light and airy. It was packed with tender and tasty shredded beef. All of these ingredients combined with the delicious mild salsa, fresh cilantro and Cotija cheese paired incredibly well. It is a must have. The Mixed berry crostata had a soft crust on the outside. Moist on the inside with tons of berries partly melted into a marmelade. (I had them warm it up) It was not overly sweet at all which was great. The whole thing was lightly coated with powdered sugar. It was excellent. As for the Peach ice tea. Well it was just a good peach ice tea with green tea and light peach flavored syrup. It was refreshing. Great food. Generous portions. very reasonable prices and great service. Can't beat it. I highly recommend trying Ellie's Table.

I've lived in Ladera since the beginning and seen restaurants come and go. I'm very surprised Lola's is still around. The food is way way over priced for what you get, the portions are small and the service is horrible. I've been a server for years and I know how to treat people I have no idea how they hire their employees. Oh wait it comes from the top. The owner is a great example of how not to run a business. Before I wrote this review I read through many other reviews and it's amazing how people you don't even know feel the same way. Hello it's restaurant 101.........CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! Every bad review I read Matt and Ava responded with an excuse instead of taking ownership and apologizing, their comments back were rude and some what attacking. You cannot run a business like that. You cannot charge for a refill on coffee, or a refill on ice tea period. I've gone in there before and asked for a cup of ice and Matt has said sorry we don't have a lot and need to save it!!! Are you kidding me!! When a customer is unhappy about anything at all you make it right period. If it's giving them back $14.00 for their Avocado toast ( what a joke!) then give it back!! If a customer doesn't like a meal they chose offer to replace it for another at no cost. Hello...... this means they will come back!! If they are upset offer a cookie or a pastry. It's so amazing to me how Lola's can stay in business when they treat people like they do..... oh wait I know why...... because there are no other options in Ladera. And please do not respond to me with an excuse. Learn how to treat people and lower your ridiculous prices!!!!! Oh and one more thing don't turn around your computers and make us all feel pressured to give you a tip!! For what???? Waiting in line 20 min. Getting over charged for bland yucky food?? And you stand there with no smile on your guys faces your usually rude and seem irritated to be there but you want a tip!! Now that's funny!! read more

I've been to Lola's Café a few times with AR, who's a big fan of the place. Personally, I think it's just okay. The food is decent, though I feel it's a bit pricey - like $13 for an English muffin, breakfast sandwich? M'eh. (Shrugs.) That said, plenty of other reviewers rave about the café's use of quality ingredients and its inviting atmosphere. The menu does offer variety, including gluten-free options like the veggie wrap with turkey, avocado, bell peppers, and a gluten-free, dairy-free sauce. The ambiance is definitely a plus, with cozy indoor seating and a spacious patio that's great for solo visits or small gatherings. The staff has always been friendly and attentive, and I have to give credit where it's due - the coffee has been consistently good every time I've visited. (I really enjoy the Dirty Chai Latte.) As other yelp*ers have also pointed out, the prices are on the higher side, but some justify it with the quality of food and service. Overall, Lola's Café is a charming spot with solid offerings, even if it doesn't totally wow me. - Big Aloha! Overall rating: 4 Stars Food: 3 Ambiance: 4 Service: 5 Value: 3 read more

Lived in Ladera over 10 years now. They have pretty good food from what I have tried. Coffee is okay but half the time they had to brew more and it's a long wait... the main reason I'd give this place 1 star is because the people who work there are flat out rude. The owner is rude, the cashiers seem like they hate when people order food. On top of that it takes a really long time (wouldn't be a problem but they always say 15-20 min and its usually double) 2 out of 4 orders have had pretty big mistakes. The staff always seems like they are in over there heads and having a terrible day.. the Avocado smashed sandwich is really good, I wish I could go back an enjoy but customer service is terrible and logistics haven't been figured out after a couple years in business. I've heard great things about Lola's from neighbors - the place is always busy; the food is fantastic; etc. Earlier this week I ordered a curried cashew chicken salad sandwich to go. I am giving the specific sandwich 1 star because it was all bread with very little chicken salad. I wish I'd thought to take a photo to show the ratio of bread to chicken salad. It is a rip-off for $11, esp. since the sandwich doesn't even come with a side. Because there was so little salad, I can't even comment on the quality of taste since I mostly tasted bread. The bread was fantastic - toasted crunchiness! - but I was really anticipating the curried cashew chicken flavors. Very disappointing. read more

One small note from a former restaurant manager: the pesto sandwich tasted delicious, but the bottom bread was soggy and fell apart. They kindly remade it, but the second one was the same. So I came here today to try it in store and It wasn't soggy or messy but still super packed and juicy. It's filled with Gruyère cheese and the eggs are fluffy inside. The croissant is crispy but airy/moist and it doesn't explode all over the place when you eat it. I hate when a croissant or baguette explodes crumbs every where after each bite. They perfected this. Also the chips included are home made potato chips. I got the herb potato's on the side and really like the texture of the potato. It wasn't dry it was juicy inside idk how they do it!!

Last week, I ordered the Seasonal GOAT with Summer Peaches salad to-go. When I arrived home and opened the container, the bowl contained nothing but wilted mixed greens and peaches. There was no chicken, almonds, pickled onions, or fennel. I paid $16 for lettuce, peaches, and salad dressing. I called the Aliso Creek location and the employee who answered suggested I return to swap it out, but after a long day, I was too exhausted to make the trip back. He then took my contact information and assured me his manager, John, would follow up to issue a gift card for my next visit. John never called. Mistakes happen in food prep, but combining a $16 order that was missing almost every major ingredient with completely nonexistent customer follow-through is unacceptable. I finally understand why the recent reviews haven't been great. Sadly, after being reliable regulars, our family won't be ordering from Mendocino Farms again.

Friends and I came around 11 AM, unfortunately all the pastries were sold out so we decided to try the crepes. I shared a mushroom crepe and also got mimosa. Mushroom crepe was large portion, good enough for two people to share as a large snack. Filling to crepe ratio was good, although a sauce would have been nice. We tried our friends smoked salmon crepe and we liked that better. Overall solid vibe with not too heavy food. Would love to try the pastries my next visit.
