Today there was a guy who's card was declined and he was giving the lady at the register a hard time about it. Turns out they found another form of payment and thought it was okay to cut in line in front of us. In any case, we don't know what the owners have been through that day or what stupid people have been in there before us that may have caused a scene. We were in search of some souvenirs since we were vacationing in Monterey for the week. I had been in search for a backpack for some time that wasn't a cheap looking drawstring backpack. This place had exactly what I was looking for. I just love my back pack! This place also has your typical Monterey sweatshirts and teeshirts and other little Knick knacks. Also walking distance to hotels on Cannery Row. They have the best prices in cannery row by far in my opinion. I also thought the lady at the cash register was very pleasant and we chatted for a bit. She was very pleasant.

She was saying things to other customers, whispering under her breath, and literally a bitch. DO NOT GO HERE. SAVE YOUR MONEY. You are better off spending a few extra dollars & not souring your trip.

It's pretty much a must when visiting Monterey…read more Yes, it's geared mainly for visitors not locals but, with the greatest aquarium in the world and the history of this part of California, there is something for everyone here. Besides the numerous gifts shops, hotels, restaurants, and bakeries, I enjoyed walking the street and reading the signs (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=264&select=_GeO7eI7DvfdHmFW4m0_fw), (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=264&select=2_is_N1U14FAI_e3OvKzRQ), (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=264&select=EZRWT_hc1f8giWPM7Aajdg), and admiring the statues along the walkway. There are iconic people (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=264&select=-5PpBw_v1zzCEwAyUUxgVA) as well as historical memorials (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=264&select=eSUIHGmndBCAg82Ch67zTQ) to the people who built this community. A mix of various shops, tourist gift sellers, restaurants, hotels, and eateries (ice cream shops, delis, and bakeries). On one end, you'll find the aquarium. The other way, you'll reach the Monterey Plaza Hotel and San Carlos Beach. I mainly walked this my 1st evening here on a Thursday and it was on the quiet side (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=264&select=zeTCcVncpby2ciMVUrkz6Q). When I returned Saturday afternoon, the streets were filled but not overwhelming so since there were no major events on this weekend (auto show previous weekend and the Monterey Jazz Festival two weekends later). The weather was comfortable with a cool ocean breeze. It's probably best to prepare your activities somewhere along here after you visit the aquarium if that's on your schedule. Enjoy this part of Monterey and learn more about the history here.

Gorgeous seaside views, fantastic restaurants, quaint shops; Cannery Row is an iconic oceanfront…read moreboardwalk attraction that is definitely worth a visit when you're in Monterey. Upon approach, it may seem that there isn't all that much to it, but once you're on the boardwalk, you realize that a lot of the good stuff is tucked away, a little out of sight, so exploration rewards the traveler. Apparently the aquarium here is also quite the draw, although we didn't pop in during our brief stay here. Lastly, the old Fisherman's Wharf, a little ways to the south-southeast, is almost an extension of all the things that make Cannery Row worth checking out: more shops, more restaurants, and more history. All together, one of the best attractions, and most exciting tourist destinations, in all of Monterey!
