Came on a Sunday to catch up with a friend around 2pm. It wasn't super busy. There is a parking garage right behind the building. They close at 7pm on the weekend which is nice. There were a lot of people working on their laptops. The location isn't super big but I loved the vibe, bright light coming in, and the beautiful mural in the wall. I got an iced matcha with honey, clutch! I would definitely come back because they had full pastries and I really wanted to try the red velvet cake. read more

Tons of coffee options, the most delicious espresso whipped cream, and great breakfast options like burritos, omelets, pastries, etc. Consistently amazing with awesome staff and a great vibe... highly recommended. The only negative I can possibly come up with is it's small (and can get really noisy) so get there early if you are planning on working on your laptop. Great coffee amazing cinnamon rolls! Had a cafe Borgia which was great ( orange mocha) not sweet. Not too much of the orange flavor but a great well balanced cup. The cinnamon roll was perfectly fluffy and not too sweet. Definitely have them warm it up for you. The matador is also a great choice here ( cinnamon mocha). read more

This place was great. A little more gritty than I like, but it was so relaxed in here and such chill vibes. I ordered a cinnamon and honey iced latte with oat milk and it was delicious! I'm so glad I ordered that. The staff was great and she gave me a life sized Lola sticker it was awesome. SBL and I were laughing at their pricing compared to the Moxy which we just came from, and it was night and day. Lola was so affordable and easy on the wallet. This is a really nice place! We got there right before it got busy, and got spots to study. I got a vanilla latte and blueberry pie, and both were good! Their coffee cake was also good. Lola has my favorite whole bean coffee. There's a location nearby I like to skate to whenever I'm low on coffee beans. Their pastries are always on point, too (although I wish they had more gluten free options.) They don't have very creative Lattes like other local shops, but their coffee is classic and high quality. Service is always nice and quick, and my location is always bustling with downtown energy. read more

I entered this establishment and stood at the counter for a couple of minutes and nobody greeted me, popped their head out to say one moment, or took my order. My new favorite coffee place in Phoenix since I tried it! My usual order is the medium iced cafe caramel, with their coffee whipped cream (seems like a lot for a morning coffee but I just think of it like cold foam lol). The baristas and staff have always been super nice to me, doing their best on those busy weekday mornings! There is usually a spot or two for parking available alongside that one-way street next to Lola. The shop is very relaxing, lots of natural lighting and lots of places to sit. read more

I've heard so many good things about this coffee shop that I decided to go in and grab a chai tea and a chocolate croissant. I walked in and no one absolutely no one greeted me even though the employees saw me walk in, but they just continued doing what they were doing. Flew into Phoenix and hit up Yelp immediately for a coffee shop and after a short scroll down, I found some great reviews for Lola. GPS made it easy to find and parking was fairly quick. The vibe of the shop was pretty cool and my hopes were high. My hometown coffee shop (Copa Vida) spoils me with a drink that consists of four expresso shots in oat milk sweetened with agave and to my surprise, Lola said they could make the exact same thing. To my dismay, it wasn't a good drink at all. The espresso felt a little burned and even after a bit more agave (which they gladly gave me) it still was t a good drink. THAT SAID, I would never judge any spot off one drink and I'm sure they have some great options. The customer service was friendly and that will always stand out to me. I wasn't feeling philosophical when I arrived at Lola but after a few freshly caffeinated minutes on their shady patio my mind began to drift into esoteric reverie. During COVID-19: One of my go-to coffee shops in Phoenix is Lola's. I had a hard time finding it, at first, but has become a place I go when I want to shop for local coffee in the artist district. My favorite drink is their Sunrise which is coffee and orange juice. Although very simple, this drink was a surprise to me as I've never heard of this combination until I moved out southwest. I've had it in other places in Arizona, but Lola gets it right. They sell other espresso drinks and seasonal flavors as well. The service is quick and I have not had any issues whatsoever. They also sell coffee beans for your at-home needs. Lola sells pastries and some food items like their breakfast burrito! The place is spacious for working in or hanging out. Mask up! Additional seating in back in their patio space or right in front of the store. Accepts cash and card. Dine in, take out, and patio seating. Bathroom available! Drink up! read more

I was looking to find a new coffee shop and found Lola's on Yelp. From the pictures I saw it looked interesting, so I came by to check it out and I was not disappointed. In fact, this place reminds me of some of the small coffee shops I'd go to when I was stationed in Europe. The inside has a very rustic feel to it with plenty of seating and the patio is amazing. I spent most of my time out on the patio because, as you can see from the picture, it has a lot of seats and is covered so it's very refreshing. It was also a great place to people watch, and in doing so I noticed a very diverse age demographic, which is surprising for a downtown coffee shop. I can see this being a great coffee date spot, too. The music wasn't too loud so you can actually talk, the service was above and beyond, and it's not overwhelming with distractions. The one downside, if any, is the parking situation, but that's not Lola's fault. I only say this so you can prepare yourself. I'll definitely be back. read more

I pass by this place every day but finally stopped in today. Parking was a bit of a pain but that's true of any downtown spot. The interior is nicely designed. I think they'd benefit from a larger space (tho there was outdoor seating as well). Coffee was delicious though!! Butterscotch on the nose and a nice charcoal without acrid/burnt taste. If you like your coffee strong, then this is your place. My favorite here is the "Cafe Borgia" (pronouned bor-ja) which has espresso, orange essence, chocolate, and cream. Remember those chocolate oranges? It tastes like that in liquid form, with espresso. My second favorite is the "Matador" which is espresso, chocolate, cinnamon, and cream. I've had other drinks here, but these two are by far their best. For baked goods, the "Cinnamon Roll Puff Pastry" was easily the best, and was only $2! It was luscious with tons of icing. Second favorite was a "Thai Donut" which was a fried bun with chili filled with coconut custard, iced, and dusted with toasted coconut. Everything else here was tough, or dry. It's a popular spot during the day so there's little to no room to sit but, in the evenings it gets quiet, there's few people and plenty of space. They also have some outdoor seating. For parking, there's a parking garage right next door, or if that's full you can park along W Portland St. read more

I showed up here to kill 2 hours as I waited to check into an Air B&B. This will require a bit of context, so buckle up. I was less than 24 hours out of the termination of a painful Scottsdale Bachelor Party Bender, one seen by 99% of the men/women that frequent that bubble city on an annual basis. My head felt like I had suffered a severe closed head injury from the way we eviscerated the levels of our dopamine and serotonin in a short stretch of days. Based on feeling alone, you would think we needed a Glasgow Coma Scale assessment at the start of each day of this trip. My stomach is not nauseous but it did feel a bit tender as if I had consumed a fair amount of battery acid in the days beforehand. My body felt similar to a young ASU CoEd that had a train rolled upon them from the backend of a home-and-home when the boys from RPI roll into town. Beaten, in agony, mentally depleted. Only one way to face the day. Induce pain and suffering. I dropped my fellow bendees off at the airport and commenced the 3-day unwinding of the bender that was the only appropriate way to allow AZ to properly resonate in my mind, rather than the worst hangover I've induced. I hit the Anytime Fitness on Indian School. Surprisingly enough, my elbows didn't bend like Tommy John's when I finished my first set. I was rolling. This place looked like a cross-fit gym where the cult was shut down like a classic David Koresh standoff, but this time rather than a world-renowned domestic terrorism scene, a savvy franchisee hopped up the space and opened one of the most elite 24-hour gyms I've seen. I followed this session up with an egg white omelet and a breakfast sandwich, that was a little off-brand for me because I'd prefer to have the cholesterol of Vito Corleone. After all, everything else is copacetic labwise. Little did I know, this was just what I needed. I followed that up with a 90-minute session on the trails of the Phoenix Mountain preserve, which resumed the soulsweat that I needed more than anything. That's when I found myself with two hours to kill. I quickly looked at my location, and found the "office" of a client that is a bit of a deadbeat was a short 1.5 miles away. I launched my reconnaissance mission but longstory short, his office is non-existent and I really should not be surprised by his actions now. Pathetic people have pathetic actions. I decided two days without coffee was simply unacceptable for a stimulant fiend like myself. I drove around the city and came across Lola and found a convenient parking spot. After 3.5 months of reading nothing but sad examples of people abusing power to show their own arrogance in the form of judicial opinions, I figured it was time for a changeup to read up on relevant things. I dove into an epic analogy of Trotskyism vs. Leninism from the hero of liberty himself, George Orwell. This iced coffee soothed my mental anguish and was the perfect complement to this satirical piece while I willingly sit in an open-air sauna. I will return. Probably tomorrow, for a significant portion of hours to induce a level of optimal efficiency that would seem impossible some 48 hours to mine and the lads' self-destruction.
