Tuna Tacon
Ethan W.

Very lively tapas bar with spotlight on elevated tacos. Vibes are chic but also cozy - there's dim lighting so it feels more intimate but there's still ambient noise because everyone's talking it up. The food is on the expensive side, but the flavors were very nice and matched the price point - so I'd say it's worth. Everything was executed pretty well and I was impressed :)) Service was attentive I got up to ask for water and 3 people came up to try and help me! Everyone was super friendly and sweet Hands down I could eat 10 of the tuna tacon by myself it is SO GOOD. They seasoned the tuna well and it's packed with umami flavor that isn't overpowering. It's also cut into a nice thick slab so you get nice chew, and also coated with garnishes and sauce to make it build in complexity and deliciousness as you chew more. It's good by itself but also pairs nicely with the green salsa it comes with. Taco Tropical was also very solid - had a bit fruitier of a flavor than the tuna Shrimp and fish ceviche was also pretty nice - lots of components which makes it fun to eat because your brain takes a while to fully process everything. Would've been nice to have more shrimp but very tasty!

Pretty solid for Taco Tuesday! Booked a reservation for 5:30 pm only a few days prior. The place is almost empty during the first hour but slowly gets full and loud after. We ordered 4 items of which the Tuna Tacon was a standout. The salmon reduction sauce underneath the perfectly seared tuna was incredible. The other items we ordered were just as expected. I gotta admit though, we should've ordered more. After clocking 20k steps, the amount of food was not enough for me. To be fair, I should've known Lolo is tapas style Mexican food, and I know me better so I should've gone for the "bigger" plates. The service is slowly paced which meant if I were to order more it would not be ready for another 20-25mins. Next time I'll be more prepared. Food here I imagine is better when paired with their cocktails which I hear are very good. I'll be back for sure.

First of all such fun bathrooms, and a must visit for inside the restaurant. The lights!! 4 of the regular entrees (which are still on the smaller/tapas style side) were still enough for our group of four to all be full, and with all of the dishes we ordered being vegetarian I consider this a really big win. All really fun food with lots of little details and amazing sauces--my favorite was the young coconut aguachile because of the super bright spicy green sauce. I haven't stopped thinking about it and will attempt to recreate at home, but I know in my heart it will only be an approximation. And I'm okay with that, because the cooks here are clearly crazy talented. We sat outside, because the interior is so dark and crowded. If you're into that vibe maybe inside seating is nice too, but there's good outdoor tables and nice people watching. Servers all checked in regularly, I think partly because of the attentiveness for the table but also because of how busy it is at this place and the need to quickly shuffle people in and out. Overall really happy with my experience here and my money felt well spent, which is usually more difficult for me to say with these types of more upscale/trendy restaurants.

Came here last-minute with a group of 5-was able to snag a coveted reservation the day of. The only caveat? It was at 8:15pm (which is late for this Bay Area girl!) We got there and it's a vibe. Come early to get in line or make a reservation or expect crowds. Downstairs is fun. Great drinks with some fun unique ones like pickleball sour or their daily slushy. Octopus is a solid appetizer. Also enjoyed the ceviche--not much shrimp but good seafood flavor. Great tacos. Unique Asian-Mexican fusion like ahi tuna and fried chicken with spicy, flavorful sauces. Also really enjoyed the quesabirria quesadillas. Crunchy, juicy, tasty. Can get loud. Pretty diverse clientele in terms of ages. Will be back. Service was good and they handled the crowds and complicated orders well!

Food - 5/5 - I went here for my BFF that I have been friends with for almost 20 years. It was a girls night out, so the food was satisfying. I like the Asian fusion and Mexican combinations--it was very innovative. The sauces and queso were spot on! -octopus was very fresh -agua Fresca (Jamaica) was very fresh and high quality -chips and salsa were oven baked -ceviche was different -empanadas were mmm..hmm Ambiance - 5/5 - I love the Ambiance and I'm a local native Mission--so love the culture being kept intact here with a splice of boogey on 16th and Valencia Mission. They had cliff notes as the receipt bill--how clever! Service -5/5 - My waitress was very polite and accommodating ! They ran out of sauce--so I asked her to give me the barrel sauce and she mixed it with something else. I appreciate the effort ! It was pretty fast--not such a long wait but we did book a reservation ahead of time :-).

Chile rellenos

The food was good! The chili rellanos was in a cheese crust which was super unique and good. Our server was attentive and helpful with choosing items. We were seated downstairs which was really dark and it made it hard to see our food which took away from the overall experience.

Food here was amazing. Ordered the birria quesadilla, ceviche, guac, empanadas, and churros for dessert. The birria quesadilla was by far the highlight of the night - super juicy meat, crunchy taco, and tangy salsa verde. I could have easily housed 4 of those. Service here was also great - hostess even offered to store our luggage for us! Loved the setting as well, felt casual but elevated at the same time.

Tres leches ice cream

Amazing decor, menu and service! The menu has some unique dishes that I have never found anywhere else. Ambience is dimly nit, and very creative. Young coconut aguachile 5/5 packs a big spicy punch Al pastor cauliflower 5/5 Peanuts is a nice touch Fried avocado taco 4/5 Could use some salsa Finally, the tres leches ice cream with a Grahan crackers topped with marshmallows is a :chefskiss: Service was top notch.

Very cool funky vibe with a unique devour and hopping bar. Staff was friendly. Chips were not free. Tacos were tasty but there were two and were small.

Fish taco

Make a reservation!!! Came on a Thursday and booked a 5:30 reservation (aka when the restaurant opens) and there was already a handful of customers getting seated the moment the doors opened. Drinks here are amazing! They are strong--in a good way. Getting your money's worth. I really liked their frozen slushies. Their flavors rotate! When I went they had banana and raspberry--both delicious. For food we ordered for the table some chips & guac and queso. The mushroom queso was DELISH. For mains, I ordered myself the fish tacos. OMG they were so good. It comes as 2 tacos but the fish was HUGE! The size of my palm. Came piping hot and fresh. Vibe of this place was like an elevated casual spot. Great environment for casual socializing! Service was fast as well. Food was fresh and hot from kitchen. Great food and drink selection. Would come back again!

Vegetarian Flautas, Cauliflower Al Pastor tacos

This place is amazing. I was initially skeptical of an upscale Mexican restaurant in the mission, afraid it would be gentrified and not authentic. However, this restaurant is Latino owned and it shows. The food is flavorful, the ambience is whimsical yet warm and familiar, and the service is top notch. Also, the cauliflower tacos are DELICIOUS and a GREAT veggie option. Costs are a little high, but well worth the price tag. This is one of my go-to spots for a date night or weekend get together.

Shrimp Ceviche
Julie V.

Where there is ceviche, there is Julie. I've had this place bookmarked for a while now and finally tried it tonight! I came on a Saturday and was not surprised to see a crowd. Lucky for us, our "40 min" no reservation wait ended up only being 15 min! We sat outside, but were not cold at all thanks to the heaters. The employees were all very sweet. They were quick to take our orders/ bring us our food and would periodically check in with us to make sure everything was good! And good it was - the shrimp ceviche was amazing. That's all I got for myself, but I would come back again and again just for that. Lots of shrimp. Perfect amount of lemon. Chips didn't taste greasy. Definitely a big enough size to share with friends, but you might want to get your own because it's too good to share if you ask me.

Amanda L.

Overall pretty good. Food was good and prices were not bad at all. All of the fish tasted fresh and everything had solid flavor. It's a smaller restaurant so we were seated at the bar but the interior was super cute and vibrant. Everyone was very friendly as well.

A few people were already in there eating, and we know this place is good, as a few others in our group and I have been here multiple times. The Taqueria is typical of any other, with bench-style chairs for folks to sit on, a water station, and workers cooking it up in the kitchen. I wasn't too hungry, so I grabbed a Super Lengua Taco, while my friends grabbed burritos, we ended up grabbing 3 complimentary chips and guac/salsa with our order and the food came out pretty quickly. When I saw my Taco I forgot how much they stuffed it and wow, two of these would've filled me up just like a taco; there was so much Lengua that it kept falling off after every bite. The flavors all came together and I scruffed down the whole thing after about 6+ bites! Definitely a place to come to if you're looking for a full meal, or something to snack on!

This place is famous for their burritos and especially the "Dorado style," which tastes amazing -- BUT what they don't clearly disclose anywhere is that the Dorado style burrito is cooked in pork lard unless you specifically ask for it "dry" or with vegetable oil. As someone who does not eat pork for religious reasons, finding that out after already eating there was honestly really upsetting. And the frustrating part is that there is NO clear sign or disclosure telling customers this. If I never asked, I would have had no idea. I actually still like this spot and appreciate that they at least offer a dry/vegetable oil option if you ask, but customers should not have to investigate ingredients themselves to avoid pork. Jewish, Muslim, vegetarian, and other customers deserve transparency. A simple sign or note on the menu saying that Dorado style is prepared with pork lard by default would solve this issue completely. Great food, but this absolutely needs to be disclosed better. One of my all time favorite spots in general.
