I ordered a mix of their Street Tacos with different meats, and every single one was fantastic, perfectly seasoned, great flavor, and served on fresh corn tortillas with just cilantro and onion (exactly how it should be!). I highly recommend trying a variety to find your favorite. A huge bonus that I absolutely loved is that they provide chips and salsa right away, which is always appreciated! But the real star of the show? Their Green Sauce! Seriously, it is addictively good. It has a beautiful, fresh heat and just the right creamy texture. The first time I went here was with Yelp and I was wanting Mexican one afternoon so me and a friend met up here. I ended up sitting at the bar and ordered a mangonada, I didn't know it would be a frozen drink, but it was really good. How do you improve on perfection? Delicious food, cocktails with a heavy pour, friendly service that rivals family meals for the holidays. One word, space. And lots of it! But let me focus on location a moment. You may not frequent Boy Scout Road. Honestly, you may have never driven it while in Augusta. Here's what you need to know, this Lokos Tacos is literally 2 minutes off Washington Road (as you near 1-20). And the nice thing about that is the absence of all the traffic noise. So I arrived, making sure I had my appetite in two. You don't come here to "snack" because the portions for any menu item is meal worthy. The inside space has room for a 100+ folks, not including the bar. If you have a large group with a large appetite, this is where you need to go. But I like al fresco and again, this is the improvement upon perfection. A massive deck (three levels) with table seating, a outdoor taco bar, and a gazebo converted into a bar (aka, 360 bar!). The middle level is covered (the other tables have umbrellas) and has ceiling fans so even on those warm evenings you can enjoy the outdoors. I am a fan of the entire menu, but my first trip to this location I went with the carne asada which is served with grilled cactus, cambray onions, panela cheese, jalapeño toreado, and of course rice, beans, and tortillas. The sizzle of cast iron plate brought a beautiful aroma to my nostrils as the team member approach. I honestly could not chew fast enough. This was a work of art. Nice greeting. And that's where the hospitality ends. Our server did not introduce herself and didn't offer any suggestions. We were trying this spot for the first time. I ordered the beef birria and a chicken taco. What I actually received was a street beef and chicken taco. I also ordered a Texas margarita that was filled with margarita mix and very little tequila. The server name came back to check on us at all. We had to ask for the check. I read the reviews and really wanted to try a new spot and was highly disappointed. Yes I was asked was everything was okay and it wasn't and my food was not replaced with what I actually ordered. I have been wanting to try the new location but hadn't until late one Thursday night. Despite walking in at 9:10pm, the staff was friendly and attentive. I was quickly helped with my drink order, a house margarita, which was very tasty and plenty big. Next came the chips and salsa. This was the only down part of the visit. The salsa was fresh and tasty. For those of you afraid of the heat, don't worry! The chips; however, had a bit of a burnt flavor. I wonder if they were fried in old oil. I didn't let it detract from my dinner though. I ordered two tacos and a side of refried beans. The tacos came with so much meat that I had to eat them with a fork...awesome! The pastor was juicy and delicious. The campechana is one I'll be back for. The combination of steak and chorizo is excellent. They are served with two types of taco sauce. The green is very mild and fresh. The red is a little smoky and has a nice amount of spice. I added some of both but more of the red. I'm excited to visit again when it's more lively. We were the only party in the place at 5 p.m. This place was pretty much a clone of every failed Tex-Mex (Georgia-Mex?) at this location over the last 20 years. If they are wanting to distinguish themselves from the other Mex places, here's a couple improvements: Serve complimentary cup of sopa fideo along with the chips. Lokos Tacos on Washington Road was already a favorite. But when Lupita, the owner, told us she and her husband, Miguel, were opening a 2nd location on Boy Scout Rd, we could hardly wait. It just happens to be a little closer to home, but the real reason we were anxious for it to open is a combination: the food, the drinks, the servers, the ambiance, the owners ... and more! We always enjoy the complimentary soup. The chips are always fresh, and the salsa tasty. The margaritas - oh my its hard to stop at one! We love the tacos, the fajitas, and the Caldo de Polo (chicken soup) with a big ole drumstick! The original location is still open. This new location is larger, has a great indoor bar, and a spacious outdoor deck now. Never had a bad meal. Service is always great. Brenda is good, as are several others, but we especially LOVE ROLANDO! The owners are a hard working family, including their 2 sons, Brandon and Diego. Everything & Everyone at Lokos Tacos is absolutely amazing! Lupita, Issac, Brandon, Rolando, Daniell, and just about every single server and bartender make going to Lokos Tacos a great experience. From a delicious snack of Nopales Azteca to Michocana Enchiladas y mucho mas; and so much more. The Cantaritos, Topo Chicos y Cervezas (beer), are just the tipping point of turning into your favorite spot. The best Mexican restaurant in Georgia and CSRA. Both locations have very inviting notes that keep you coming back for more. My favorite location is the Boyscout Road location. It's spacious and very fun! Please keep up the great work and consistency. Your back of the house and front of the house are always doing a great job with service and food. Lokos Tacos is such a fun and loving atmosphere. Omg! Worst service ever. Let me explain. We had been here before and loved it. Returned tonight. First we asked for a table outside. The greater made a snide comment, but hey, it's Friday! We ordered our usual top shelf margaritas and fajitas. We had plenty of salsa and chips. The waitress brought the sizzling meats and said she'd be right back with silverware and rice and beans. We waited and waited. We ate with our fingers as we waited. I finally got up, went inside, and told management what happened. About an hour later we had what we ordered. It still took awhile to get the check that promised the next time we come in we can have a free small margarita on the house. $3.95 on a $70 bill. Hmmm? This is a new restaurant in old location and it has been spruced up and looks good. The service was great and in spite of many cars outside, we were immediately seated due to spacious room. The food was very good but it was too much. The Texas rice I ordered was ample for two and after the complimentary chips, salsa and soup, I could eat but half. Again, the service was very efficient and our server patiently agreed to change my order based on a shellfish allergy. I will return and try something new of their many listings but I will plan to share my entre since they serve large portions. What on earth goes down at night? It seems as though this restaurant allows people to party with their loud music for special weekends. The last time I checked this is a residential area and their business is always closed when these parties go down! I feel since they allow these parties someone on staff should be onsite to shut it down since there is no oversight. I don't want to hear music in my bedroom when I'm trying to sleep at 3 am! I don't mind people having fun but somebody needs to shut these down at a respectable hour.
