El Presidente is on my list of good Mexican restaurants in the CSRA. I regularly stop here when I'm downtown whether it's a festival or the Saturday market. 95% of the time, I order the chorizo dip for the table (best in the city) and steak chimichangas. I've gone on slow nights and on more busier nights like Cinco De Mayo and my food always comes out piping hot. read more

Stumbled upon this place for lunch while passing thru Augusta. I sense it's not in the best part of the city so maybe that's why it only has an average of 3 stars. Our lunch was 5 stars! Service was great and the outside patio was nice on a warm fall afternoon. I had the grilled chicken quesadilla. Plenty of moist and flavorful chicken with cheese and sour cream and guacamole on the side. My husbands El Pastor fajitas came very hot with all the fixings on the side. Lots of food and great taste. The salsa (and chips) has a little bit of ZING... I like it but some people who don't like it a little spicy, they might sample a little first. I had the El Presidente Dinner (Chicken Fajitas, Carnitas, Rice, Beans, Beef taquito, lettuce, pico de gallo, sour cream, guacamole, and a Chimichanga), there's enough food for two people if you fill up on chips and salsa while the meal is cooked. Even if you don't fill up, it's a good sized meal for just under $20 and you'll probably not finish. The service was good and the restaurant wasn't very noisy. Decent Mexican. I'd stayed in a hotel just down the street and noticed El Presidente from the Riverwalk. If I hadn't, I wouldn't have know it was there because you can't see it from the street. I had the Texas rice and peach margarita, both of which were good. My dining partner had a large burrito and was not impressed. My only real complaint were: 1. The service was a little slow. Food was reasonably fast but we didn't get our chips, salsa, and guacamole until the entrees came out. 2. We ate outside and there were no bugs until we got the food. Then flies swarmed us. They could use some citronella candles on the tables. Prices were good. read more

My husband and I dined here the one evening we were in the city of Augusta. We were seated immediately upon entering the restaurant, and we're brought chips and salsa right away. I ordered the Enchiladas Supreme, and my husband opted for Combination #12, which was a beef burrito, beef enchilada with rice and beans. As a family we were passing by during our travel. Was visiting the river walk and happen to find this Mexican restaurant close to river walk. Visited during the afternoon time, it was not crowded and we ordered soups and the other one was I guess it's kind of fajita. Overall the food was great and the quantity was really large for us. Our waitress was ok. Service just OK. Food was great. We ordered the Texas rice-perfect amount of veggies and meats. Requested side of pico it was good and flour tortillas, could have given us more than 3 minis. The queso is soooo good. Salsa and chips are always great. The cheese enchilada was ok at best. To saucy and super flat. Meh. The super burrito my dad said was good. We also ordered a pitcher of Mango Margaritas which we asked to be on the rocks but she brought it back blended. Way too much Mango syrup concentrate however the alcohol content was decent. Just too hard to drink what thick of syrup. The food was ok - the service was terrible. We received food we didn't order, the server was incredibly rude, and some of our orders didn't show up or were horribly wrong. There were several dishes that random people brought out and where the server asked, "Who had this?" And we told her "no one." She said, "someone did" and would just put a dish in front of someone. She rolled her eyes, threw silverware on the table (after we had to ask for it twice while we all just sat there staring at our food with no way to eat it), and then loudly talked about us to other servers. She actually went to a booth, sat down, and played on her phone while we still had people waiting for food and had incorrect orders. We will never go back, and the server should be fired. Last month My cousin had her birthday party there. Everything was great to the food and service but I think I could be better with more help. They really need more staff especially at night. If I could give this place a -10/10 I would. The most nasty looking food, and bizzare service I have EVER had. I had one of the plates, which consisted of a Chile relleno. Now, I don't consider myself a chef, but what I do know is that what they gave me was not no Chile relleno. It was literally a small piece of pepper, covered in nasty cheese, that was probably put in a microwave. Not to mention, I also order a separate side of refried beans. What I was sent was the most disturbing side of beans, I've ver received from a Mexican food establishment. They tasted horrible, and I was just overall unhappy with my food. Nothing tasted good. I count even bring myself to eat a second bite of anything. Not to mention, my waitress was weird on how to handle me disliking the food. But she bizzare since she started her service of the table. This restaurant gets a high rating due to the perfect location and friendly staff. It previously was a Mi Rancho, but has had a slight makeover with the name change. Located on the Riverwalk, you can go for a walk then enjoy a nice lunch or dinner (or vice versa) at El Presidente. The outdoor patio is open and perfect for a sunny day. They are dog friendly on the patio if you want to bring your pup as well! I have never had a bad experience with any of the staff, they are always warm and friendly. The interior could use an upgrade, with some of the booths being run down and the bathroom not in the best condition. But for the price, convenience, and location, it is well worth it! I highly recommend grabbing a drink on a hot day before going for a walk downtown. The food is fresh and the menu has options for everyone. I had the enchiladas supreme with one beef, cheese, chicken and bean enchilada with sour cream, tomatoes, lettuce and cheese and I added a side of rice. Great food, outstanding service and a nice location. Good that came out was hot and plentiful. Our server was attentive and kept checking on us, but not in an annoying way. Asked if they had a mojito, said yes. "mojito" comes to table with limes and oranges in it, no mint, rather what seemed to be a mint syrup. Gross. Ordered a 32oz beer, didn't seem to be chilled properly. Two in our party ordered a jumbo frozen margarita, another a small frozen margarita. Everyone received the same size and all charged for medium sizes and when we inquired, server said "oh, I put you in for a medium" and didn't offer to fix the tab or anything. I will also add that only one of the four of us finished our drinks, the frozen margaritas are out of a machine and very syrupy and thick with an odd flavor. Ordered choripollo nachos, got choripollo dinner. Did not get charged for the botched mojito but she still didn't change the price of the margarita. I was told by a friend that the margaritas are "killer"! Well that's not the case. Also bartender wanted to put it in a plastic cup. Ick. I order the enchiladas tamale combo. Wanted chicken and onion in the enchilada with green and a pork tamale with red sauce. Not a fan of refried beans as they had no option I took it. Rice had frozen veggies in it. Beans were non existent soup. In fact the guy next to me at the bar got them in a bowl and they were soup. No o ions in my enchilada and the plate was smothered in a mix of red sauce and a ton of green sauce. Waitress even said. "Wow that's a lot of sauce ". Beans were under water and couldn't be found. Needless to say margarita was mediocre tamal was good. Enchilada was smaller than the tamale. I usually give a place a few try's but believe I'm done here. Too bad I was hopeful. Nice ambiance eating lunch outside on the patio on a sunny fall day. The food was good traditional Mexican-American fare with plenty of options for combos and the like, chips and salsa, cheese dip, good guacamole and tacos/burritos/enchiladas. Nothing fancy or flashy but just the right amount of authentic flair in a nice location right off the river. Service was attentive and straightforward with no frills, just like the food.
