I visited Lofton Yard twice this weekend and both times were a really good experience. The open fire pits are awesome for a chilly night. Although I went home smelling like a chimney, I loved the ambiance. They also have gas fire tables and lamps in some areas if you don't want the open wood fire pit. The drinks were so-so. I could've used a little more umph for the price and the size of the "It Does Something To My Mouth" cocktail. Tasty, but very light and small in size. The Froze was better, but I still had to add "kick" to it. We couldn't order food because the kitchen closes at 9 due to the COVID restrictions and 10pm closing time. On Monday night, the second visit, we sat inside and it was VERY warm. The heaters were definitely working! This time, I was able to order food. SO glad I did because the SPICY SMOKED WINGS are probably one the best I've had in years. Not many people can do smoked spicy wings with a crisp but they were PERFECTION! I definitely plan on being a regular here just for the wings. For ambiance, I'd give 4 stars, bartending I'd give 2.5, but the wings are for sure 5 stars! I do not leave reviews for restaurants. I have gone to Loflin multiple times over the years. This is the first time I have ever had this intense of an experience with mosquitos. My legs are covered in bites. I do not plan on returning any time soon. There are a number of outdoor spaces in the city where I can enjoy a drink without being eaten alive. Photo attached. It's like a neighborhood get-together at a house and lawn you wish you had! A friend of mine took me here, on a mission to show me that "Memphis is cool (please think Memphis is cool...)" I was impressed. They have some great local beer on tap, as well as some good-looking cocktails. I didn't eat while here, but the food also looked pretty good. There are two bars staffed with friendly, attractive staff. Smushed in between them is an awesome lawn area with cornhole and various styles of lawn furniture. There is then a second, secret, lawn past the second bar. I'm probably describing it horribly, but, what I mean is: it's a great place to hang out. The ambiance alone could carry this place to 5-stars, but all of the other pieces are also top-notch. I'd practically live here if I lived in Memphis. read more

This was my first visit to the Loflin yard. when we walked in we were confused and did not know where to go so we just stood up in the middle of the bar when you first walk in. Another couple came in and they immediately went outside so we decided to follow them as well. when we got outside it was MUCH larger than we had expected. we looked to the left and there was a menu for drinks . I got the middle school drink and it was amazing! We went up a little bit more and saw a menu posted for lunch and dinner. we decided to order from the menu and there was not a lot to choose from for a vegetarian so I asked if they had sweet potato fries and she said no. I asked if they can make a grilled cheese sandwich she said no. :( So I decided to get the sweet potato salad and then we ordered drinks from the next window. afterwards, we decided to venture around the place. we saw a lovely waterfall, plenty of areas to either mingle or be alone with your date in a secluded romantic area! We also saw A great ambience and a great mixture of people having fun and lounging around. It seemed like a very relaxed environment there were multiple bonfires and string lights everywhere lit up like Christmas trees which are a very pretty! Next up, we decided to venture onto the porch area where there is a gigantic game of Jenga going on which we were excited to try to get a part of, other people were playing A game of corn hole which looked also very fun! There were plenty of games (for the old and young) scattered about the place and people are having a blast! Our adventures continued as we decided to stroll inside where they had live music and another bar area! on the outside of that was another area where people can go and hang out in the yard and have picnics and play other games! overall this was an amazing place however the only thing I would recommend is to have a guide tell us what there is to do, what they recommend, what's available and where to go so that we were not walking around like deer in headlights. overall I would definitely recommend it because it is a great place to bring your friends, bring your date, finally meet up with that person you met online, bring your coworkers for a little get together, bring your family for a celebration, meet new friends and have an amazing time! read more

So I went to Loflin Yard as part of a Yep event. I had a nice time catching up with friends and meeting others. As for the food, it was hit or miss. I did like the Brisket and the Pork Tenderloin Po boy's, but I did not care for the sweet potato slaw or the peanut slaw. I also thought the corn tasted pretty good, definitely had a hint of lime flavoring. I did not try any alcoholic drinks, so I cannot comment on that. However, I did enjoy the cucumber water that was provided. I think the biggest thing that I did not like were all the insects. There were several flies all around. Now, I understand we are outside but they were pretty bad as they kept getting all over the food and on everyone. So hopefully Loflin Yard can correct that issue. Overall, I thought Loflin Yard has a great idea. It is quite big and has a very relaxed environment which can be great for events and get togethers. Plus, there was plenty of seats available and plenty of water around for free. I especially liked the pretty waterfall in the middle of it. read more

I had heard so much about this place which had opened up in downtown Memphis recently that when work colleagues were in town from overseas, after a visit to Beale street, I suggested checking this place out instead of eating something in Beale street itself. They were game and so we ended up driving here and after parking, my first impression was that it was hard as none of us knew what to do since there was no hostess station. Honestly I was a little concerned at this point as I figure ordering food shouldn't take rocket since. However after I went to the bar and the gal behind it very kindly explained that we should grab a table (there were 8 of us) and then we could go to the bar window to get drinks and then the following window to get food, the process became much clearer! With such a massive group, finding a table was a bit of a challenge but we finally found one, however it was _very_ cosy! They had a limited rainy day menu and I decided to get the Pork PoBoy with peanut slaw and side order of sweet potato salad (Cost under $20) plus a local beer that had great notes of chocolate and coffee, but can't recall the name. Despite my co-diner's food orders being messed up in a major way (the guy who asked for Brisket got Pimento Cheese instead, etc) and two others waited a longer time than the rest of the food, so that the server eventually had to come out and re-check what they ordered, I would absolutely come back again! It's an absolute 5-star on the food (and my visiting EU coworkers also agreed with that). The peanut slaw was brilliant - nutty and spicy, almost reminded me of Thai flavours but lacked that distinguishing sourness. I also loved the sweet potato salad - never had it before but am planning to try and figure out how to make it at home! The sweet potatoes were perfectly cooked and loved the combination of small brown beans and the pickled sweet onion in this one. I loved both sides very much and would be hard pressed to nominate one as my favorite! The pork PoBoy was also good - generous fillings, a great sauce that allowed the pork to shine through and all served on a firm ciabatta bun, each bite was a lovely medley of brilliant tastes. I also tried a bite of a fellow diners pimento cheese sandwich and this too was superb! The cheesiness and the sauce were perfectly balanced. Despite being less than impressed with service, am giving them the extra fifth star even though my first instinct was to only give them a 4. I got the hot chicken sandwich which was pretty good and the blue alcohol sushi which was tasty but there was definitely very little alcohol and wasn't worth the price of the drink. The BIGGEST NEGATIVE was the RIDICULOUS amount of mosquitoes. Our entire party got destroyed around our ankles and legs. It made having an enjoyable night really hard when you are constantly itching or killing mosquitoes. I'm not sure if the chicken sandwich was worth the mosquito issue. read more

My husband, brother in law, and I visited Loflin Yard for brunch this past Saturday, and it reminded me very much of bars back home in Texas: tons of outdoor space, games (for kids and adults), multiple bars, food (including house smoked BBQ), drinks. Loflin Yard is just that - a big yard! Tons of chairs and tables and games. And several covered areas where you get drinks and food. We were there during brunch hours and tried several of their brunch dishes with some cocktails and beers. I got their pastrami and cheese sandwich (with house-made pastrami) and a side of Mexican street corn. Delicious! It really hit the spot. My husband got a brisket hash, and my brother in law got some salmon croquettes (the menu is very varied). With some local beers and a great cocktail menu, what's not to like? We sat for a while, enjoyed our food and drinks, and took in a college football game. Completely relaxing afternoon. The setting is wonderful. The place is clean. The only improvement would be the service. Our bartender was irritated and the person who delivered our food looked absolutely miserable. Visiting from California, a local uncle suggested checking this place out. It was pretty memorable, even though it was slow. It was fun to walk in, see a bar, and assume that was the place. No, no. Went out the bar door, saw the open space. "Wow, this is big!" before we noticed even that was maybe half of it. The scale was very impressive. The beers were okay, a number of the chairs I chose had broken welds, and the employees DGAF about reporting those. I'm not sure the food was worth the price. I had a reservation tonight for 6 for my son's birthday. We were seated immediately. We waited and waited and no one served us. My boys went to the bar to see if we could get drinks and were told we had to wait for our server, oh and there was only one for the entire place. WHAT? So much for hearing about such a great place if you can't get served! So after 30 minutes we left, and no one even noticed we left. What a great place! The food was great and the drinks were awesome as well. The atmosphere is downtown urban meets Western North Carolina mountains. You can eat on a bridge going over Loflin Springs just south of Loflin Falls. Or eat on the quad in the luxurious grass. Or on the picnic tables in the wooded area. Plenty of patio space if it's raining! The brisket is so tender and flavorful. You order food at one window and drinks at the other. You can just come and enjoy but you have to see it. One of my favorite places in Memphis. Down near the river Loflin Yard is a reminder of home in New Orleans as its built in the same style as Bachanal. Unlike New Orleans Bachanal its not overrun with tourists and it has a much larger bar and yard area with another convenient bar in the back. There are lounge chairs, picnic tables, even hammocks to chill in. The summer is probably not the best time to enjoy the place with the heat and mosquitos but this coming fall it will definitely be the spot to hang out. The cocktail bar is excellent and certainly not as expensive as NOLA, I have not tried the food yet. There are also plenty spots with tv's to watch games as well. Can't wait to take full advantage of this joint when the weather turns cooler. read more

My honest opinion on Loflin Yard is that it's one of those *hip* places that gets way more credit than it's worth due to word of mouth, hype, and just being *good enough* not to be bad, along with the fact that there's nothing better to do around. It's true, it's a cute place to hang out. There are strings of lights that add to the atmosphere. It's really spacious. There's a lot of places you can choose to sit. They have drinks. They have good food (albeit a bit expensive). There are two bars - one that serves food in the front building and one that doesn't in the back building. I've been here around 4 times now and it's always been a good time, but that's just because you come with friends. This place definitely feels understaffed, like tables aren't getting cleared when we're eating there, like you have to wait a while to get your drink even when it's not super busy. I also understand the whole point of the ~rustic~ vibe because I'm also a part of the Instagram generation, but I think this place is on the other extreme of the service balance. This is an okay place to go on a Sunday afternoon because there's nothing better to do around, but they definitely have a lot of room to step up their game. It doesn't come to mind as a first place I'd recommend people to go in Memphis. read more

I really, really wish that I could give this place 5 stars. The concept of this place is awesome. It is like going to your super cool friend's back yard for a night of playing fun, outdoor games and drinking. That is why this place even gets 2 stars from me--concept and atmosphere alone. However, I had one of the worst experiences I have ever had with a bartender here, which is sadly why I cannot give more than 2 stars. Loflin Yard has quite a few tasty sounding drinks. The drink I really wanted was scratched off on the menu so I assumed they were out of it (which I later found out to be false). I ordered a drink that I have ordered many times before--a martini, this particular drink was called the Rested Martini. After paying the $9 plus tip for my drink, I brought it back to our table. After taking a sip, I knew there would be no way that I'd be able to drink this. It was absolutely terrible. I have had plenty of martinis and I do enjoy tasting my alcohol, but whatever they did to this drink was horrible. I thought maybe I just didn't like it, but I passed it around our table and everyone that tried it said it was disgusting. I normally would not bring something back to a bartender but it was so bad I thought I needed to let them know. It was not super busy at the time I went back so I approached the bartender and let her know, in a very non-confrontational way, that the drink was not good and someone must have put something wrong in it. The bartender was extremely rude, stating that "well it's a martini" and you must not know how those taste. I have never had a bartender be plain rude to me as this bartender was. Instead of exercising customer service, she attempted to make me feel inferior and stupid. This bartender took a great opportunity to make me a long time customer and instead turned me into someone who will never buy a cocktail from them again. I am part of the young professional crowd in Memphis, which is what I assume the customer base they are trying to market to, to be. If they want to continue to have customers coming back then they need to teach their bartenders, or at least this one in particular, how to speak to customers in a respectful manner. With better customer service, I could really see this place being a solid 5 stars. Until that time, I won't be spending any money there. read more

This review is really only based on the incredible atmosphere. My husband had a small surprise party for me here and we were only there to chill and drink a bit before dinner. My favorite type of party is the one in someone's backyard so this place couldn't have been better! There were yard games, comfy chairs, fire pits, and even a band playing. Drinks were being brought to me so I never personally interacted with the staff however, the folks in our group stated that the staff was very unhelpful and didn't seem as though they wanted to be there. But if you're just looking for place to chill for a few hours, I recommend this spot! read more

I was In Memphis visiting my son and came to Loflin Yard for dinner. Our waiter was William who was absolutely awesome! Very attentive and extremely willing to do whatever it took to make sure we were happyI had the Brisket Nachos which were delicious if they would have left the Sriracha off. It is not listed on the menu but was on my nachos and they were to hot for me to eat! Which I hated. William brought me another order without the sriracha! We also ordered the Smoked Chicken Tacos with were also delicious but again had sriracha on them. Overall the food was delicious and the service was awesome. I will definitely one back! read more

This space is unbelievable. There are so many different areas where you can sit and hang out, it's pretty amazing. I went on a Saturday night and there were literally hundreds if not a thousand people there all told... that said, they have ONE window with ONE person taking food orders. My friend and I stood in a line for at least half an hour to put in our orders. It was also some cutthroat business to find chairs and a table. And in the back building, which is HUGE, the tiny women's restroom only has three toilets. Y'all. The food arrived quickly (in nearly the same amount of time than it took to stand in line to order) and was pretty good! I got the pimento cheese poboy, yum, would definitely order this again. The greens on the side would have been amazing but they are made with meat, which wasn't indicated on any of the menus. I swapped it with my friends for a piece of the street corn, which was perfect and delicious. Food prices are kinda high ($18 cheese plate!) but what I had was tasty, so it's probably worth it. I'd like to try going here during the afternoon or in like two years when it's not the newest thing. In the meantime I think they should consider adding another way to order food, and more seating if possible! read more

My experience at Loflin Yard was part of a private event where we had the whole place rented out, so I can't speak to how this would be on a regular night. However, the service was great and the drinks were amazing. The atmosphere of the yard is really fun, with games to play and plenty of spaces to sit and relax with your drink. I would definitely go to this place again as a regular patron as I can only imagine the experience would still be great. I highly recommend checking it out! read more

My friends and I decided to go to Loflin Yard to watch the Memphis game. One friend saw on Facebook that they would be showing the game. I think she was mistaken because after I arrived I checked and it said SEC Saturday. OK our bad. When we asked if one of the TVs could be switched to the Memphis game we were told they could not/would not change it. So ok it is advertised as SEC Saturday so I'll let it go. Until....one of the large TVs is put on the Notre Dame - Navy game. WTH?!!! Guessing about 50% of the patrons inside were wearing Memphis shirts. Only other team I saw represented was Ole Miss. Even the Ole Miss fan was shocked Memphis wasn't on the TV. The only guests I saw interested in an SEC game were outside watching. Disappointed at the limited vegetarian options. Was going to try red beans and rice but bartender couldn't tell me if it had meat in it. Settled on cheese dip (average) and Mexican corn (cold and mushy). My son liked his chicken tenders ok.
