We had a dismal dining experience. Extremely expensive, cold food, and horrible service. My son has a condo in Sunriver (awesome resort!) but I will never ever eat at the Lodge again. I will now visit one of the Sunriver Village eateries or another restaurant nearby. Quickly: our server could offer no advice on the flat-iron steak as she had never had it?! (and no mention of this previous feedback), the calamari appetizer was the worst our group had ever had (I'm 65+ and originally from the Monterey Bay area) and we sent it back. Under cooked and 'off'. Very little calamari. The server told us upon our complaint, 'a lot of people don't seem to like this mixed vegetable version'. Hmmm, that feedback would have been great when we ordered! Finally, all of the food was cold. We don't know if this was due to the kitchen or the server just failing to bring it out promptly. Few people were in the restaurant so who knows?... For the price EVERYTHING should have been flawless. read more

Delicious with an incredible view. Most of us enjoyed soups and salads and a few desserts were tried and approved of as well (the cobbler is HUGE!). Choice of mimosa flavors was a win for me - I think I had pomegranate. One star off of five because the server was weird about my sister's need for gluten information. She also tried to substitute out a soup choice without asking us (just brought something different to the table). There is no way this steak is an 8 oz portion as listed on the menu. This is 4 oz at best. Very small and tasted like itwas marinated or deglazed with teriyaki sauce. Not very good, and definitely not worth $27! read more

Carson's is a Resturant right in Sun River Lodge. Spectacular view of the mountains, the golf course, and MT. Bachelor. Included are pics of the menu. The staff and service was a 10. Please see pics of the breakfast foods. The little doughnuts are awesome! Be sure to order them as a starter. The only problem is if you order a side of bacon, the cost is off the charts for two pieces that were cooked the day before and kept warm... not fresh tasting at all. Has to be the most expensive two pieces of horrible bacon in the state. To make it worse, we had three orders. The gal with the cocktail cart was so incredible. You could feel the love going into every drink! Lots of families with small kids eating here. Also had live music. Nice outside seating. Very good! read more

We pretty much ate most of our meals at the lodge kitchen. Here's the biggest question I have for the lodge. Are you pet friendly or not? We have a chihuahua that fits in my wife's purse. 1st meal-Breakfast. Had dog along and staff didn't bat a eye and no problem. Really enjoyed the pork belly Benedict. Pretty tasty bloody Mary's and mimosa options. So stopped in for dinner and staff was really rude and told us no animals allowed and ended up doing a to go order. Was pretty curios to check out Yelp for pet friendly options for dinning. To my surprise the number one pet friendly option on Yelp showed the lodge kitchen that we were standing in front of. Pretty much all meals for the three of us with drinks was all about a hundred bucks. Breakfast serve rocked and dinner service sucked! read more

When you need decent food for an indecent price, Carson's is where we go. You'll pay almost $20 for a burger for no true reason. A few long bits of lettuce might make up a $16 Ceasar. But I will say that they taste good. Just for their price range they should taste fantastic. Also, for your own good, please avoid the fish and chips. Been here many times and at least know that not all their entrees are this terrible. And with halibut fish and chips I had high expectations. However, the breading is almost soggy and completely wrong. I can easily scarf down fish and chips in all iterations, even mediocre ones, but these were inedible. So get their brunch, get their burger, enjoy the views, which is what you're really paying for. But never order the $25 fish and chips. That's both money and a former belief that no fish and chips could be truly bad that I lost. read more

This place has an insanely inflated yelp rating so I have no choice for the 1 star. All of our meals were nowhere near the prices demanded. Old chicken, flavorless grill cheese, and just ok burgers all around. All just very very overpriced and underwhelming. Nice place and decor, though. read more

The food was real good. I had a ribeye steak and it was delicious. Everyone else had a variety of food and they were all very happy with it. I felt the wine list could've been a little bigger. My review pertains to brunch only. This place was a really pleasant surprise. Heading out after a four day stay at the resort, we needed some nourishment for our long drive across the state. We wanted to take advantage of the breakfast vouchers that came with our accommodations, but for three consecutive days prior found better options in downtown Bend. This morning was just perfect as the sunlight bathed the entire roof and back of the dining area. We sat with a view of the Meadows golf course and the industrial kitchen where the food for the many restaurants in Sunriver is cooked. We started with a green smoothie that was of perfect consistency, void of dairy thickener, and was balanced with great citrus flavor. I had coffee which was very mediocre and quite cool upon adding milk. I ordered an egg white omelet with mushrooms, spinach and a side of cold quinoa salad. Hubby had a vegetarian scramble with feta cheese and a side of fruit. His dish was served in a stainless skillet. Mine was plated beautifully. We didn't order anything particularly adventurous but the eggs were done to perfection and herbs and fresh flavors shined through in each dish. They can sure do breakfast here at Carson's. If you're in the mood, they offer a table side mimosa or blood Mary cocktail made fresh. read more

We decided to come back this year and try this place again. We were disappointed in the variety of the menu and the prices are ridiculously high for what you get. The curry was gross and tasteless and the French onion soup was so bland it made Red Robin's version seem gourmet. I dumped salt and pepper in it to try to season but alas couldn't get through it. The server was aware of the fact that we didn't like either dish and barely ate any of it- she just apologized but didn't adjust the bill. The only noteworthy menu item from our party of 8 was the Oregon Flatbread. The room is very hot and doesn't feel air conditioned. We all agreed we will skip this place for sure next year. We love breakfast at Carson's! The chefs are really talented and cook the food to perfection. I rarely deviate from the Benedict, which is always either on a crab or lobster cake base and never greasy. The poached eggs are made beautifully. My husband loves their pancakes, eggs and sausages. I would absolutely give five stars if they upped the game on their Bloody Mary's and hash browns...these don't live up to their fullest potential. We own a house in Sunriver and spend 3 to 4 weeks a year here. When in town, we used to be regulars at this restaurant when it was called Carson's and probably ate there 8 to 10 times a year. But now that it is the Lodge Kitchen, the menu has changed (for the worse in our view) and prices have escalated. We are not generally that price sensitive but just don't think the food quality matches the pricing. So, the most recent time we went we decided that was likely our last. We now go to the Owl's Nest when we want to eat at the Lodge and South Bend Bistro when we want really good food. read more

What was once a completely mediocre (at best) resort restaurant is now a great place to dine, regardless if you're staying at SunRiver. Carson's has completely reshaped food at the resort and it's really good. We're frequent visitors to SunRiver and over the years have grown accustomed to finding dining options in creative ways. Now, with Carson's taking over in the main lodge - Dining at the resort is super pleasant and truly Portland-class. I'm not kidding - I had some of the best fish tacos ever at Carson's. Perfectly seasoned, well garnished and really fresh. My wife had a farm-to-table beet salad that was very tasty. Aside from the fresh and varied food options, the service was spectacular. Friendly, timely, and informed on all aspects of the menu. The sever even recommended a slight modification on a dish that made it so much better. When you're in Bend or SunRiver - or central Oregon for that matter - do yourself a favor and go to Carson's. It's worth it! read more

We used to be hesitant about eating at Carson's when in Sunriver. Prices are high. But mostly because the food was just meh. Decided to come here to try it on the last trip... something is DIFFERENT. I had my birthday dinner here as we stayed for the weekend and the food was OK. I wanted to treat myself so I got the steak dinner and knew it would be expensive but it did not justify being $36 for a dried out piece of steak with cold couscous and cold cubed squash...... definitely would not get that again. Got a shot of Hennessy and was charged $20. That's pretty crazy. However, we came in at 8:50pm not knowing they closed at 9pm, they even mentioned something like "we don't know why people keep coming in when we're about to close" - okay? Does that mean your customer service is lacking because we came in at an inconvenient time? Wish they would of done something special like dessert for my birthday when I mentioned it but I know they are too busy trying to close. read more

We picked Carson's based on review and we were visiting Sun River. First of all the place is in a beautiful location with wonderful views from the Restaurant. We were seated promptly and waited on in reasonable time. I took some time for our order to arrive and our appetizers were delivered at the same time as our meals. I expect when ordering an appetizer that its delivered before the meal. Or at least asked when we would want it. My soup was far from being served hot and lacked substance. Based on the prices and review we were expecting a much different experience. Ordered a Ruben Sandwich which was shared and our waitress was great in serving it on two plates. She even had 2 separate cups for our fries. The Ruben had a few slices of corned beef and a whole lot of sauerkraut. For the prices charged expected a much different ratio and taste. The fish taco was ok but not what I would call outstanding.....In all fairness he fries were hot and crispy...Maybe because of the location the prices were justified but we expected a much higher quality meal. read more

July 2021 Was looking forward to going to Carson's, have eaten there many times over the years. I ordered the most expensive item on the menu, the Ribeye. I ordered it medium , it was rare and cold. Took one bite and spit it back into my napkin, very chewy, Tried a 2nd bite , the same result. The twice baked potato was also cold. My wifes trout was over cooked. The waitress didn't even notice or didn't want to notice that I didn't eat any of my meal. The other couple we were with said their meals were "okay". Almost $300 for one of the worst meals of my life. Carson's is not the establishment it use to be, better off cooking at home. read more

Hashbrowns are fresh out of the frozen section from Albertsons. Worst of all, they charge 50 cents for lemon wedges to add to your water, at this resort restaurant after they stiff you with jacked up resort prices already. No thanks! Won't be coming back. read more

Very impressed! Sandy was serving us. She was so sweet! Ugh so sweet. I got mimosas exactly how I like them with a drip of orange juice. My boyfriend got the Mt. Bachelor burrito. I got the Carson's breakfast. It's served on a beautiful plate. It is spend but it is worth it. It was a nice peaceful breakfast, very quiet and tranquil. We will be back. read more

We had a delicious breakfast on Friday, December 15 at Carson's! My hubby ordered the burrito which was so huge he couldn't finish it which is rare for him as he's a big eater. He als had a side of potatoes. I had the egg and pork belly sandwich which was also delicious and huge. I especially enjoyed that I was able to order the garlic spinach as my side dish. What a nice, healthy change and the spinach was sauteed just perfectly and was exceptionally tasty with just a hint of garlic, not overpowering. Also, the coffee was very good as was the Bloody Mary! Our server, Francisco, was attentive and truly on top of our every need and he gave us great service. The views are fabulous as well and the resort is warm and lovely! We loved all the holiday decorations and will return some evening so we can see the all the Xmas lights! We will definitely be back soon! read more

The restaurant is located in the Sunriver Lodge. We came here after our river rafting excursion for a late lunch. The plus was that there wasn't a long wait like the rest of the restaurants in the Village. The view was beautiful--of the fields. I ordered the salmon burger and it was a bit dry, overcooked. Bummer as I was expecting better. It wasn't the worst, but just expected more for the price. I will try again with another dish the next time. read more

I also ordered the Cuban sandwich. the meat lacked taste and the bread had a consistency of Styrofoam. It was quite expensive for what it is and I left wanting to start over with my lunch. Why is it that the restaurants with the best views often have mediocre food? Carson's is in the Sunriver lodge with a spectacular view of Mt Bachelor and the golf course. Prices are resort prices. Ordered the pulled pork sandwich and a beer. The sandwich came out on a bun that was already soggy with over saturated pork and slaw. It fell apart when you tried to pick it up. Worse was this huge piece of congealed cheese. I guess it was suppose to be melted but it was the consistency of rubber. Ended up just picking the meat out of the mess. I pointed out the food issues to the server who just kind of looked at me. She scampered off with the plate and quickly gave me the check without saying a word. No adjustments on the check. Didn't want to take the time to deal with it. Will stick to the bar and happy hour from now on. Too bad. read more

Well this was a TOTAL DISAPPOINTMENT! Our bill came to $170 dollars. For that we got 3 orders of fish and chips.......WITHOUT FRIES/chips, the coleslaw with the dinner was awful. The crab macaroni and cheese had NO flavor, however the two sandwiches we bought were ok. I tried calling them over six times about the lack of fries, they never answered. I called the front desk to have them transfer me......no answer, left a message telling them about the lack of chips.......NEVER RESPONDED. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE! It is TOO EXPENSIVE to have such rotten customer service. There are many other places to eat in the village where they actually care about their customers. read more

I brought my parents here when they came and stayed for the weekend and they say that "they would want to come here on more trips to sunriver, due to the view during the meal." The view of Mt. Batchelor with the sunset makes the meal feel like a special moment in time. Our server was courteous and friendly to fix everything that we needed. I would recommend to ask for specials, and to have the Oregon blackberry crisp, it's not just a desert it's also great for breakfast. The picture is a scallop with a potato crisp ring and I don't remember the sauce. But I ordered another the next day, too bad it was just the weekend special. read more

We are huge fans of Sunriver, and bring our boys here often. This was our first time at Carson's and sad to say, we were super disappointed. Our server was very friendly, but the food was plain and unimpressive. The brutal part was we ordered 2 kids entrees, one adult entree, a soup and salad and 2 soft drinks and our total was $86! I would love to support a restaurant that is part of the Lodge, but the truth is we could eat at several other places in Sunriver with better food for less money. Wow! Not one for dramatic comments but the Free Bird omelette I had today at Carson's was the best I've ever eaten! Such a simple dish; egg, cheese bacon and ham with some onions and peppers but WOW! Larry was our server and he did a great job, very accommodating and attentive but not overly. But the omelette, my gosh, the omelette was perfect! It's a resort, so be real, expect resort pricing but they made this meal worth it! read more

You have to judge this place in the context of hotel/resort dining. And this is the perfect hotel/resort restaurant. You can stumble to the podium in a disheveled state and have a delightful and overpriced meal. Pro-tip: you can eat brunch in the comfy lounge area near the restaurant entrance and enjoy the live music. I'd highly recommend the nachos, as I ate them about 6 times. Average chips slathered in cheese, sour cream, guacamole, hot peppers, olives, and tomatoes for a mere $18. At dinner you should try the creme brulee or cheesecake. The beer list was solid, too. Service was always top notch. All in all, THE PLACE for resort nachos in Sunriver. read more
