Very expensive, and a ton of red flags. Stay away from here. Although he was professional, he was uncommunicative and wouldn't answer questions about his work. I bought a replacement key fob for one of my cars and wanted Steve to program the new one so that I could have two key fobs.  I was told that there was a 60% chance that it would work. When first discussing the work, Steve told us that if there was any issue in the future he would back it up, and that I wouldn't have to pay if it didn't work. He quoted me $250 before tax. Already more than the dealer would have done it for, but since I had the assurances that if it wouldn't work in the future he would back it up, I felt okay about continuing. After cutting the key, it wouldn't unlock the car. Red flag number 1. After recutting it again, he got it to unlock the car. We spent two hours in the parking lot while he tried to program the key fob to match the old one. Red flag number 2. After getting it programmed, it would only work if the original fob was in the car with the new one. Once the original was removed and significantly distanced from the car, the new fob would start the car then throw an error (code mismatch) and the car shut off. He spent further time fixing this, which led to the car running with the old fob and new fob. I was told that I wasn't allowed to use my spare key (transponder only, no fob), and that it would reset all of his work. When asked to provide an explanation for this he chose not to respond to my question even when asked directly. Finally, after paying, I was told that once I drove it away from the premises that he offered no guarantees and that he wouldn't provide any other services without an extra charge. This contradicted his prior statement before we started the process about his service guarantee. By saying that he offers no promises, he's implying that there is a chance that his new programming may not hold (which may leave me stranded), and that simply does not make sense. It turns out by using my obd2 scanner that there is a mismatch between my car and my two key fobs when I run diagnostics. Meaning that he altered the original transponder code and made it different from the factory original in order to claim a success. The whole exchange was shady and deceptive. While Steve did end up getting it to work in the end, I feel very unsatisfied with the work he did. UPDATE: I went to the dealership to get a new key fob because of how uncomfortable I was with Steve's work. The dealer was cheaper, and guaranteed their work for 12 months or 12,000 miles (whichever comes first). They finished programming the key in an hour, and now I have a fully funtional key fob that I don't have to worry about. At the dealership: Key cut no problem, key programming no problem, their work guaranteed. At Lock Patrols: Nothing but problems. Conclusion: Check your dealerships prices first, they will likely guarantee their work, while Lock Patrols won't and is deceptive. I wish I had gone to the dealership in the first place. read more

Steve was awesome and extremely patient with my situation. I have a Thule cargo box and one of the locks the key broke in it. Initially he tried to pick it and save the lock, but the key was too far in. He ended up having to drill and break the lock which took a lot longer than expected due to the key being so far in. He eventually was able to get it out without damaging the box and replaced the lock with a modest charge. It was hard work and I can't thank Steve enough, he literally saved my upcoming road trip! I needed help with my car ignition, my key would not turn to start the car. The person who took my call at lock patrol said someone would be there within 30 minutes. Almost an hour later, a locksmith showed up. He took one look at my ignition and said it would need to be rebuilt for close to 400 dollars. When I said I didnt have that kind of money, he said he could drill out the ignition, but it would cost 180 dollars. I could not afford this. I eventually had my car towed home. I watched one YouTube video and was able to drill out a small part of the ignition to remove it and replace it with a 40 dollar new ignition cylinder. Within 5 to 10 minutes I had the problem fixed. I am fairly handy but have never done this kind of work before. These people are either extremely incompetant or they are trying to RIP customers off. Do not use this company. read more

I had locked myself out of my house, and my real estate agent recommended Lock Patrol. I called Lock Patrol, and Steve was at my house in about 30 minutes, and was able to get me inside. I am frustrated how he tricked us. here is the story: on the phone he said he will charge $35 just to come and check, we said ok. he came he asked for $150!!! we were so surprised how high the price is. so we decided to pay just $35 and call another locksmith. he was grumpy, I paid him. and before he got in to his car, he said ok I will do it $100. So I asked $100 in total, he said yes. So, we agreed and he did the job. it took less than 5 min for him to open the lock. when he second time charged us, he put $100 instead of $65 as he proposed. and I was so distracted while signing the receipt plus it was dark, did not check the amount. Today, I checked my card activity and found out he charged us $135. he was all talking how great discount he did for us and we believed him. I called him today and ask for a refund, he kept saying it was the price.
