    Take 5 Oil Change

I am updating my review…read more We had an issue with the oil pan, but Zack sent the information to corporate for resolve. He quickly refunded the oil change while I awaited for email correspondence from the regional manager, Tyler. He apologized for not getting back to me sooner and fixing the situation. I want to give a shout out to Tyler and Zack for quickly resolving the situation. These guys provide excellent service and will make it right.

Very disappointing experience at Take 5 in Boone…read more I have been a longtime Take 5 customer, so I sent my son to this location during normal business hours to have my Jeep inspected. Daylen initially told him they did not have the proper equipment to perform the inspection. When my son followed up by phone, Daylen acknowledged that the issue was apparently not the equipment, but that he simply did not want to do the inspection. I then called the location myself and spoke with Carson. Importantly, Carson did not know that I was connected to the Jeep that had previously been turned away. I asked him if I could bring in a Jeep of the same make, model, and year for inspection, and he said there would be no problem doing it. I told my son to return to the location. I then spoke with Carson again and asked why the inspection couldn't have been done earlier. His response was an extremely convoluted explanation that simply did not make sense when compared with what had already been told to me and my son. It came across as an attempt to explain away what had happened rather than a credible explanation of why the vehicle was initially refused. Carson ultimately said he would do the inspection "since I called." The inspection was completed without issue, which makes the original claim about not having the proper equipment particularly difficult to understand. North Carolina Administrative Code 19A NCAC 03D .0523(d) states that an inspection station "shall inspect any vehicle presented for inspection" subject to the applicable exceptions. I understand that a station may legitimately be unable to inspect a vehicle if it lacks the required equipment or otherwise cannot legally perform the inspection. That does not appear to be what happened here. The fact that Carson independently confirmed that a Jeep of the exact same make, model, and year could be inspected--without knowing about the earlier interaction--makes the situation even more concerning. I have been a longtime Take 5 customer, but this experience was unprofessional and has seriously undermined my trust in the Boone location. I should not have had to make multiple phone calls and effectively challenge the explanation I was given simply to receive a service the location was capable of providing.

I brought my car in this morning to deal with a potential transmission issue. After reading…read morenumerous reviews from people raising concerns about up-charging, I contacted the shop around an hour later and clearly stated I only wanted the diagnostic and that no work should be done until I received a quote first. After several back and forth calls between multiple parties, It was made clear that I would not be using Mr. Tire's services and would instead work to arrange a tow through my insurance to take my car elsewhere to be service. Several hours later, I left campus to retrieve my car so i could move it to another lot to make towing easier. After arriving, I found that my car was no longer in the lot. When i spoke with the front desk, I was told that my car had already been towed. This was extremely concerning as I had not authorized any tow through Mr. Tire. Several calls later, I learned that my vehicle was wrongfully towed by Hampton's Body Shop, which introduced an entirely separate set of unprofessional conduct. If I had not stopped by Mr. Tire to retrieve my car I would have never known that my car was towed. According to the front desk employee, a tow truck driver entered the shop and asked if he could tow a "black Jeep Cherokee." My Cherokee is gray. Despite the discrepancy, the employee handed over my keys with no verification process, no confirmation of the tow request, no license plate check, no identification, and no permission from me. This shows an extreme and unacceptable liability issue. My vehicle was released without any consent from me, removed from the lot, and not given any information of where it was for two hours. The only apology I received came from an employee who had little to no involvement in the incident and described it as "carelessness." I will be escalating this incident further with Mr. Tire and Hampton's body shop and expect a formal response addressing how this happened, what actions are being taken regarding it, and what steps Mr. Tire will take to ensure this never happens again.
