I made an appointment online, and had to reschedule due to my school presentations being changed with the pandemic. Not only was BTC very accommodating with changing the appointment; but they were fantastic for getting my breaks inspected and replaced. The owner (I presume) asked me why I thought the brakes might be bad, and didn't patronize me with my answers, which I find happens a lot in mechanics shops. I was extremely pleased with how kind and professionally they treated me. They also showed me how bad my breaks were and managed get me in and out within an hour! Hard to believe that service garages like this still exist. Honest as the day is long. Got 4 tires. Originally they said I still had 20k miles left on them, but the snow was coming so now got tires. Best price that I could find. Today getting transmission fluid changed. read more

I'll start by saying the repair was done properly. The reason for my rating is that they lost my keys. I walked the 2 miles to the shop (on a 30-degree day), paid for the service, and was told they couldn't find my keys. Ok - that's a problem...what's the solution? I had to be at work in an hour. How did they help me get back home or to work? They didn't. Apparently, they looked until after closing time, and when they didn't find my keys, did they call and tell me what the status was and how they were going to fix it? No, they closed for the weekend and left me to fend for myself getting to work and my studies. There is no Uber in Boone, so that's a challenge. It's Monday and I still haven't heard a peep from these people. I wonder how the owners would feel if a business treated their college-student daughter this way? read more

Friendly and helpful. The day after a snow storm I stopped to see if they could replace the windshield wiper blades I was met with a smile and the promise 'we will be with you in a minute'. My car had a nail in a tire, which was causing a slow leak. I made an appointment and brought the car in to Boone Tire Center. Clint, the service tech who fixed it, could not have been more cordial and fixed the tire in about 15 minutes. I would not recommend this shop to anyone and would further encourage anyone seeking to do business with them to look elsewhere. I filed complaints with the Better Business Bureau and AAA stating the same. My sons pickup was leaking antifreeze from around the base of the timing cover. AAA towed the truck and recommended shop. Based on their recommendation, Boone Tire Center replaced the timing cover gasket. When my son went to pick up the truck, he started it up only to find that there was now a severe grinding noise coming from the timing chain area of the engine. When he asked the mechanic to take a look and explained to him that that noise was new and was not there when the truck arrived there, he was told that it was the alternator going bad. My son then replaced the alternator and the noise persisted. My son took the truck back to Boone Tire center and asked them to again take a look. They then claimed that the grinding noise was actually a ticking noise coming from the fuel pump. My son stated that the noise wasn't coming from the fuel pump and the mechanics became belligerent, insisting that nothing they did could make that noise. I spoke to the owner myself, who told me that we should take our business elsewhere if we didn't believe him and that he would not look at the truck anymore. My son immediately took the truck to another mechanic who listened to it for five seconds and said something was rubbing against the timing chain. Since I live a few hours away. My son had taken videos of the engine running immediately prior to the repair, immediately after the repair, and after the alternator had been replaced and sent it to me for advice. The noise is conspicuously absent in the first video and obviously present in both of the latter videos. The mechanic then claimed he could hear no noise whatsoever. read more

Larry is the very best mechanic around. I've been bringing my cars to him for 14 years. He and the other staff are always fair in pricing and willing to help even if you just pull in to air up your tires. I live 3 hours away now but still schedule to have him do my checks ups anytime I'm in the area. read more
