The food is not bad, especially the steak salad. But the employees do a poor job. The first time I went they messed up out appetizer and when we brought it to the attention of our waitress she kind of blew us off and said it just happens sometimes. No apology or attempt to fix it. This time we called ahead because it was a Saturday night and they said oh there's no wait there is a table ready for you. Then we got here and they told us it was a 45 minute wait and didn't seem apologetic or even seem to care that they told us the wrong thing or messed up our night. They told us we would be first in line for the bar high top tables. After an hour of waiting they gave a high top table to a group that walked in after us. Dinner was very good. Service was very good too. We went at 6:15 on a Thursday. It was busy, but there were a couple tables left. No waiting. Draft beer selection and bottled beer selection was very good. It was a rustic quaint atmosphere. They have several TVs if you wanted to sit in a place to watch a sporting event. My wife had a burger and fries which was very large. I had 12 wings. I had 1/2 the Sweet Heat & 1/2 the General Tso sauce. Plenty of food. Everything was very tasty and the prices were reasonable. The last two times I have been here the food was bad. Both times I got a burger, the first time I ordered it medium well it was burnt, the owner redid it what he said was medium, it was medium well and yummy, the owner however was upset. Next visit I did as the owner said and I ordered it Medium it was raw. I packaged the burger up to take it home and cook it because the owner was hostile the last time. On the way out I showed the server the burger and I said, I am not sure how to order it, it is either raw or burnt, nothing in between. For years this (Ann's, Legends Corral, Legends Again etc ) has always been a meeting place for casual gathering...a cheap beer and bar food. Waitress and barmaids that like a good local should - remembered names and favorite orders! I am shocked and appalled at some of the tacky reviews that were written by some people! Local Thyme is NOT a mini Whitehouse Inn! I enjoy the Whitehouse Inn very much, but it is certainly nice to have another good option. First of all, the restoration done was in excellent taste and is charming! If you like a dump with cheap beer and bad bar food I am sure you can find another one to frequent now that Legends is gone. Legends should have been condemned and Whitehouse is lucky someone came in and cleaned it up and made a respectable restaurant out of it. The employees are extremely friendly, along with the patrons and the employees do know who we are and what we drink. The service is good, food is great and lots of atmosphere. As for the person who likes the Whitehouse Inn so much, you should have noticed that half the people who work at Local Thyme were employees of the White House Inn. I wouldn't pick one over the other but the Whitehouse Inn can be a real zoo at really busy times. Local Thyme is more intimate and relaxed which is a nice change. Simply amazing food. It was clear everything was made from SCRATCH. Best chicken chunks in NW Ohio. The artichoke dip with warm and fresh pita was to die for. The spicy pickles were very good as well. The onion rings were a nice side to our chicken. We had two varieties of chicken chunks and they were perfectly sauced and had just the right crunch on the breading. The kids devoured their food and said it was their favorite restaurant. We will 100% replace The White House Inn with this place. So happy to have found another small town local place with amazing food. read more

I've been to Local Thyme three times and have been very pleased each time. When I first stopped in, I was shocked at the improvement over the previous Legends. The current owners really made a difference. The atmosphere is very clean and "current". I waspressed with food quality and quantity and service. Everyone was friendly and helpful. I've recommended the restaurant to friends and they all loved it. Seems the specials are especially yummy. My son just stopped in for drinks with out of town friends last weekend, and it seems they all found a new meeting place when in town for visits. Very disappointed at lunch today at Local Tyme in Whitehouse. We have eaten there several times and have been very satisfied. Five of us were eating and only one had a good meal. One got the totally wrong food and they didn't offer to take it back and correct it. Two of them had ordered grilled chicken chunks and they came out looking like boiled chicken and just slightly warm. Again, nothing was done. Fourth was a pizza that was half cooked and cold. We asked to talk to the Manager and she didn't have the courtesy to talk to us just told the waitress she would discount our meal. We've always been big supporters of local thyme until last night. We had waited FAR longer for a table than what was estimated to us. We stayed optimistic and had a few drinks in the cramped waiting area to pass the time. After an hour we happened to see the owner and make light of the situation and instead of being apologetic or attempting to resolve the issue he very quickly became confrontational and full of excuses. Tried to eat here one evening last week at 5pm. We went in an no booths open , only one table that seats 6 or a high tables on the bar side. I am short so we were not going to sit at the bar side on high tables. The young millennial waitress refuse to let us sit at the table for 6 because a party of 6 may walk in. So we left.. they lost our business because of these ass hole millennial 's... who do not know a thing about customer service. She could of looked over tables an offered us a 10-15 min wait . I finally took the time to eat at the Local Thyme here in Whitehouse, OH. I was so thrilled to find this gem of an eatery in our little town. I was pleasantly surprised with how charming and eloquent the decor was inside. And the food....WOW! I had one of their specials which was a taco on a shell like that of an elephant ear. Yummy. PLUS, the rice that came with it was the best! I ate the whole thing! I also was pleased to see they had a rum cake on their dessert menu. I haven't had this in years and ordered it to go. A cheeseburger and hand-cut fries sounded wonderful. My husband and I ordered an appetizer (the spinach dip). The waitress brought the dip and then about 4 minutes later had our food. Would have liked it timed out better. Got my cheeseburger that was supposed to be American cheese, well it looked like a Kraft cheese slice melted on it, one piece of lettuce. No pickles, onions, mayo or other choices to add to it. It was also dry and my favorite " hand cut fries" were even more disappointing. They were limp, greasy and cold. My husband's fries were the same. For $8.99 I can get better food from Wendy's. I won't be going back soon. read more

I visited The local thyme recently. I would have given a little better rating if I was strictly basing it on the food. However, my struggle to get into the establishment kept me from really enjoying my experience. I guess they don't want to make it easy for wheelchair users, the disabled, a group that includes 51 million people in the United States, to easily make it into the establishment. Let me paint the picture: I had to go to the back of the building, wheelie my chair through 15 feet of deep stones, to the ramp (at least there was a ramp), once inside, a seemingly unnecessary stand was blocking the entrance (possibly the fire exit as well??), I had to disturb people while eating, to them to get out of their chairs so I could get inside. You need to add another $ sign to this restaurant since their prices have gone up dramatically. $3.00 for a soda (only 8-10oz), yikes!!!!! Only 1 refill with that otherwise you'll be charged extra. Burgers, sandwiches etc. have all had a jump in price. Always loved the hot wings only now you can only buy them by the pound. Ridiculous.
