Busy as expected on a Saturday evening. For starters, don't order pop. $3.00, they are served in smaller Mason jars, you get 1 free refill and others are $0.25, I'm sorry but that is ridiculous for pop. Had I seen that before ordering I would've gotten water. Food.... they were out of the pretzel appetizer, waitress said they ran out yesterday, not sure why management/ owner wouldn't go get more for weekend when I'm sure you're busy. Food was great and decent prices. Got smoked wings and fries. Bf got chicken and artichoke pizza, he said it was very good. Terrible service, terrible food. My husband ordered fish and chips, he received a fish sandwich and fries - both were cold. My pita chips tasted like they were fried with his fish. The best chicken chunks I've had in Toledo or the surrounding area. By far better than any wing place. I took a star off though because the last two times there the chunks came out warm. I want those suckers hot. The beer selection is solid with some great seasonal beers I wouldn't expect to find in a tiny little place like this. Excellent! Took reservations for our party of 12. Server was patient, confident and responsive. We didn't run out of drinks and the table was kept cleaned off as plates and drinks were emptied. Food was very good too. Fried pickles were the best I've ever had, very light on the batter and crispy. The balsamic was also very good, the caprese was tasty! Spinach artichoke dip is fresh and the pita is soft. Reuben is piled with corned beef. Burger patties are fresh and hand formed and juicy. Steak fries, not greasy. There was also music, not blaring, just nice addition to the atmosphere. We were right next to them and had no trouble conversing. Try it out! read more

First time trying this place for lunch. The wife and I had heard several recommendations so we thought we would try it. We were seated in a booth with a super bright light bulb right above it that had us squinting the entire time. I had the Reuben and onion rings, she had the Philly cheesesteak sandwich and sweet potato fries. The Reuben was good but it was way too wet and the onion rings were very good. My wife's Philly cheesesteak sandwich was too dry and had barely any peppers / onions on it. Her sweet potato fries were cold but they were promptly replaced, with a piping hot order. We saw other folks getting some tasty looking meals. Service was about average. We will probably give them another try sometime. The beer selection looked pretty good. read more

Although their burgers and other fare is often pretty good (at least a three-star rating), I went there for lunch today and got the soft dollar tacos that were the special of the day. They were probably the most bland and tasteless thing I've eaten in a long time. I would never order these again as even the salsa and extra jalapenos ordered to go with the tacos were absolutely tasteless. I've never left a zero rating for any restaurant but it's the lowest I could go. Service was very good and I cannot blame the server for the glop sent out from the kitchen. Great place for dinner or just drinks. I personally had the great smoked wings a wonderful smoke flavor yet crispy and juicy. They have a wide variety of appetizers and a few things that you don't get everywhere i.e. deep fried pickles. A nice variety on the menu with pizzas Burgers sandwiches and main entrees including steak and salmon. My wife and I like to order different things and share we also had the belly Buster which is a burger with smoked pork belly on top. You can also add smoked pork belly to any sandwich or pizza. You can dine inside or outside on their shaded patio the restaurant is set in a nice quaint small town in northwest Ohio just 15 minutes outside of Toledo.On Wednesdays Fridays and Saturdays you can enjoy live local music. Ate lunch on a Wednesday, ordered a hamburger. It was ok, it came with lettuce, tomato and white onion slices and a pickle wedge. It would've tasted better with red onion instead of white. The burger came with fries, which are actually wedges. Not bad. My husband had the Wednesday special, street tacos. The shells were cold, maybe right out of the fridge. Local Thyme has delicious food with the slowest service around. I have visited Local Thyme multiple times with the hope that they will get it right. I have even resorted to take-out exclusively, only to have that repeatedly messed up by their very lack luster service. Unfortunately I live in Whitehouse and really enjoy their food, however this was my last attempt to make things right. Trying to get takeout, I was placed on hold for five minutes while listening to the background noise of the bar. They have not only disappointed in their in-house service, but have failed at take-out. The cooks are up to the task, service continues to drag the restaurant down.....great food, horrific service.!!!! read more

We went for the first time to Local Thyme tonight. The patrons were friendly and many lived close to this location. Everyone was in good spirits and friendly. The drinks and appetizers were wonderful. The service was fast . The decor was relaxing and even had some historic relevance to Whitehouse (We loved that). The band was good---a group of Toledo firemen called Engine 19. Wow, they have talent and managed to provide atmosphere while not being so loud that no one could talk. Could this be the Whitehouse version of "Cheers"? Maybe. But, do not discount the restaurant and good food either. We look forward to trying this restaurant again soon. From the outside, this place does not look like the gem it is...just driving past you may not realize what you are passing....hence, I am calling the Local Thyme a best kept secret of Whitehouse. And they had more than one option for a picky vegetarian like myself. I got the veggie sandwich on pita. We'll definitely be back, and next time get the big pretzel everyone is talking about. Came back home for a visit and my brother took us all to Sporkle Trivia on Thursday night. What a great night of food and fun. Our waitress was perky, quick, and observant. We all got burgers because of their $1.50 off deal and they were all cooked to perfection and delicious. It helped that we won both rounds of trivia so we were able to get $30 off our meal but the cost of food and beer was still very reasonable. This trivia is also challenging and fun and everyone seemed to be having a good time. Great setup so all tables can play. Definitely one of my favorite restaurant trivia experiences so far. read more

First time visit for me. We were a party of 7 on a Wednesday afternoon at about 1:00pm. We were given our drinks very quickly, but the only server was working five other tables besides ours. She was very quick, but could not take our food order for 30 minutes. When we did order, the food arrived in another 20 minutes (faster than I expected). The food was generally good. I ordered a Reuben and would've been happy with 1/2 of a sandwich. The whole sandwich was far more meat than I wanted or needed. I liked the onion rings. One person thought his fries were overcooked and thought the prices were high overall. Another guest ordered a perch dinner and tater tots, but was served onion rings by mistake. The error was quickly corrected, but then something happened that I have never seen before. Our server repossessed the incorrect onion rings...which were almost certainly thrown away. Someone else at the table could've enjoyed them (since it was their mistake not ours) and the restaurant would've rec'd a positive mention for it...but that didn't happen. Clean...not noisy...very friendly...and many TVs which all had golf on at that time. I will give LT another try, but will look for something in a smaller portion. We were frequent visitors as we live near enough to walk there from home if we choose to, and have on occasion. However, prices have risen dramatically while the menu has been drastically cut back, eliminating most of our former favorites. $4.25 for a Diet Coke? We know the owner and he has done a great job renovating the place, invested much in awesome seasonal decorations and special events, and is a stand up guy. We just wish he would focus on adding more variety to the menu while offering more affordable options. If you are feeding three kids you'd have $12.75 just for their pop, add two more for Mom & Dad, and you are up to $21.25 no food included! This isn't Disney World. Many friends that used to go there no longer do because of elevated prices and limited menu options. Hopefully this will change going forward. We'd like to patronize the place but not with such limited fare and egregious prices. read more

Love their food!!!! I would have given them 5 stars but it is a bit frustrating that they often are not taking orders for carry out. My co-workers and I are often told that they are not taking takeout orders when we call to place an order. I've been to Local Thyme several times and my meal yesterday, as Jackie Gleason used to say, was "over the moon". To celebrate Fat Tuesday, the owner scratch made the best New Orleans style chicken/sausage gumbo accompanied by some outstanding jalapeño cornbread. I received a very generous portion of gumbo over white rice and I could have almost licked the plate when finished. Along with daily home made soups and a new menu, Skip and crew have a great eatery. Update: Local Thyme is now open on Sunday and we sat on the patio yesterday. As usual, the service was great. And I experienced a first. I had the in-house smoked wings with house sauce. They were quite simply the best wings I have ever eaten and I have had wings all over the world. Keep it up. Also, the tacos, available only on Wednesdays, are not to be missed. I have standing lunch appointment every Wednesday just so we can have the tacos. It is so great to have an owner that takes genuine pride in his product. read more

Horrible experience. I wish it was still legends again. I meet my ex wife up there with our daughter, was asked if ready to order ex said yes we will order first then him. They ordered then waitress left didn't ask what I wanted nor waited for me to say anything. So finally I get to order a drink. Last of the Jameson for Jameson and ginger ale. And lightest pour ever. It doesn't get the 5th star because this place cannot figure out how to turn a table over. Food is ungodly slow to come out. Arrive 650 with a call ahead sat at 720 left paid 910. That being said the food is excellent 5 stars. Chicken chunks and sauces are great! I highly recommend getting the pretzel appetizer!
