So our dinner stop before heading to Boothbay was Five Islands Lobster. We arrived around 4pm, just before a dinner rush. Parking is tight, but you make do. I was able to find a spot to accommodate my care and the small packing trailer on the hitch. Once we were parked we made our way to the buildings. The one building you order your lobster, another building you order other items. It was a very easy and simple process. Between all of us there was so much lobster and other fine dining options. The lobster was fresh and sweet. It was very delicious. The lobster came with corn and potatoes. The butter was perfect! It had that foaming too I love! My husband enjoyed his fried haddock sandwich and the fried scallops. He raved about the fried scallops. The staff were great. They were kind, helpful and hard working. The view was stunning. I saw a loon and was able to adventure on the rocks during low tide. Overall this was a beautiful spot to start our Maine vacation. I highly recommend checking out Five Islands Lobster

We ordered 2 2lb lobsters, onion rings, and fried oysters. The lobster meat came right out of the shell (shout out to some man on the dock who helped us Marylanders with some verbal direction) and were full and flavorful! We are big crab eaters but it takes about 6 or more XL crabs to feel as full as we did with one lobster! The onion rings and oysters were perfectly fried and just as delicious. The oysters came with fries (which explains the ketchup) as well and all were large portions. It was the perfect location too! Not noisy, beautiful scenery, and just all around a great atmosphere.

I hope Carlos can reassess the direction of this once delightful restaurant by the sea.

I was surprised by how vegetarian-friendly The Osprey is! Several seafood options can be made vegetarian by replacing the fish with nori-crusted tofu. I was really impressed by the tofu - it's so often treated as an afterthought, but here they serve it with a flavorful breadcrumb and nori crust that gives it a rich flavor and a nice crispy texture. The regular fries were okay but the sweet potato fries were great! Definitely enjoyed my meal both times I ate here.

Unfortunately, this time I was met by a very unfriendly hostess ( and I remembered her being very unfriendly to customers last time I was here!) when I tried to order something to go for my husband , while I would dine , she said I couldn't do that. She informed me that I couldn't get anything to go because there's only one cook . So I said that was fine , I'll just dine here and take the rest boxed up when I'm ready. She still said no!? Then the waiters and waitresses recognized me as a regular and greeted me ! It certainly wasn't what I was expecting as I just landed from two very long flights to get here and literally put my suitcases down and came straight to Cozy's !!!! I ended up coming in and sitting outside to eat . My waiter assured me I could get a box for whatever food I didn't finish . We just landed back for the month of July after being here in May and June! We ate here once or twice a week and always recommended to our cousins and friends and people who are new to town ! I do recall our last meal here be fore we left at the end of June , this same hostess ( brunette wit hair up ) being very rude to customers then, as well. Mike and Andre and the waitresses and young bus boys are all so friendly and our family has been coming here for generations! It's a shame that this one person is ruining the vibe.. Unfortunately, I will think twice before wanting to come here again. * If you're looking for food recommendations, I don't think you can go wrong with anything , but the fish tacos are my favorite and I order them every single time I'm here! My husband loves the street dogs and if you're a Chicago Cubs fan, you'll understand why! They taste just like a Chicago dog at Wrigley Field! We've had the burgers here too, and they are very good. The Berry salad is delicious , if you're going for something healthier and you can always add a protein .We love adding blackened scallops to it ! if you do choose to dine here , hopefully that ride hostess will have moved on.

We decided to give it a chance, since most of the people there seemed to be local or at least seasonal locals. Given this was just a "snack" for us, we decided on a hotdog, cheeseburger and shared some fries. The ordering process can get a little chaotic, as there is a lot of conversation at the grill with orders being placed and prepared and people chatting in line. We placed our order and were given a number and you could stay at the window (which gets really crowded) or you can have a seat at the picnic table. I decided to wait near the window while I took pictures for Yelp. From what I could hear the prices of the seafood options are "high" although I didn't think it was unreasonable given how fresh the seafood is. We didn't even get seafood and really enjoyed our food. Well, I am sad to make such a review. This once-terrific…read morerestaurant, which I have been patronizing along with my family for over 40 years, has fallen into some poor hands. Glen and Diane sold the restaurant- and knowing them personally, I totally understand why- but the new owners have turned a reliable and homey place into a poorly-run attempt at a hip joint in a very quiet little beach hamlet. Today some family and I made a dinner reservation. We were sat almost immediately upon arriving, but our waiter was pulling double duty as barkeep, and he did neither job well. My Mom had to go up to the hostess to get place settings, to the bar to get our refills, to another server to check on the status of our order (which had been given to our wait 45mins earlier), and back to the bar to get our check. Our waiter never once checked on us; we didn't see him after he took our order until it was time to pay up. When we voiced our concerns, he was not thrilled to hear that he had done a poor job, and sent Chris, the manager (and possibly owner? Not sure) over to us. Chris did listen attentively and thanked us for our feedback, which is the only reason this review has as many stars as it does. The restaurant had a rather limited menu, and they were out of a lot of stuff. I ordered the fried scallop basket with sweet potato fries. $30 for half a dozen small, overcooked scallops and mushy fries? Not worth it. Their prices are sky high for the region and for the quality and quantity of food served. I know, I know- this sounds awfully like I am clutching my pearls and telling naughty children to get off my lawn. But over the decades of patronage of Spinney's- both the restaurant and the guest house- I had never had a disappointing experience before the new owners got their claws in this beautiful place.
