When I think of LL Bean I think of the Maine coast and being outfitted with all things LL Bean. Gotta be prepared for all types of elements up there. Jackets, boots, hats, backpack's and of course the boat bag with monogrammed names on them are also what I imagine when I think of LL Bean. I'm glad this famous north east company finally made it to Indianapolis! YAY!!! They have so much in this brand new store!! It's located next to The Container Store. I loved the Christmas Tree with all the hats, ornaments, and little keychains all over. They carry everything outdoor related. Kayaks, sleds, sleeping bags, shoes, backpacks, coats, and Vermont maple syrup! The good stuff! The lady at the register was very friendly. I liked how her name tag said her name and said that she loved loved swimming!! Check out all the items by the register they have maple sweets, dried blueberries, and other items from the east coast. Sign up for the Outsider club also!!

I have associated LL Bean with high quality and great clothing, and this store was no exception. I came to this store to look for a pair of jeans, because I thought they were on sale, and when I looked at the selection and checked the price, I was disappointed that it was the regular price of $85-90 per pair of jeans. I do understand you are paying for the high quality of the jeans that will last a while, but this was out of my price range. I have bought a sweater from LL Bean for a friend as a birthday gift, and he enjoyed it very much. I do love the LL Bean flannel shirts because they are perfect for winter weather, and I know I am getting a valuable product for my buck. I cannot speak to the service because I did not encounter a salesperson while in the store, but I'm sure the staff are friendly and professional, and can answer any questions you have on the merchandise. LL Bean is a great store with fantastic high quality merchandise, but just be aware that you are paying a high price for the merchandise. Rest assured, the price is worth it!

I was driving on the north side of Indy and happened to look over and see L.L. Bean located in the strip center at 82nd and Dean. While I'm far from the most current when it comes to new Indy businesses, I'll admit this one caught me completely by surprise. So, I decided to take some time this weekend to check it out. L.L. Bean opened two weeks ago in this spot. If you're not familiar with L.L. Bean, it's a national retailer that has been around since 1912. And yes, it really was started by a guy named Leon Leonwood Bean. They don't sell beans. They emphasize clothing (men's, women's, and kids') build for the outdoors with a reputation for high quality and strong customer service. They also have a lot of stuff for the outdoors with gear for hunting, camping, and fly fishing including tents, backpacks, sleeping backs, kayaks, canoes, swimwear, rain jackets, bedding, boots, shoes, slippers, and more. If you've ever wanted to feel like you're bathing in flannel, visit L.L. Bean. I actually bought a couple items from them recently and have been super impressed with the quality and durability. Yes, it tends to be a bit higher in price but the quality has been top-notch. This location? There's accessible parking along the strip center (though not directly in front of L.L. Bean) with appropriate curb cuts. They have a push-button automatic door. The interior is definitely packed, however, for the most part I was able to get where I wanted to go. Restrooms are ADA compliant. You can get free shipping with a $75 purchase. They also offer contactless curbside pick-up. They did have a lot of holiday items and I was impressed with the selection, though I did notice they seemed to be fairly light on "big and tall" sizes (or in my case "big and short and crooked"). Where they really excelled here was in customer service. It was attentive without being smothering. It was warm, hospitable, and helpful. I saw their purpose statement on the wall and stopped to take a photo of it - that gave me the chance to talk to an employee at length about their opening two weeks (which it sounds like has surpassed their sales expectations). As someone who tends to always be dressed down (Let's face it. I'm disabled AND a slob. That's a bad combo), I often get dismissed as a customer. That didn't happen here. I was really impressed. While I didn't end up buying today, there's no doubt I will. I found a lot I loved, an atmosphere I enjoyed, and employees who were friendly. When you add in their high quality products and fair prices? I'll definitely be back. This is the only L.L. Bean location in Indiana. Interestingly enough, they're closed on Thursdays. I wanted to ask someone "Why Thursday?," but I never really got the chance!

Yeah I needed a new zip tote! #ReviewsByRL

You know, the kind of jacket that you bond with and becomes your identity. I was attached to the damn thing. Anyway, I tried shopping on line, but it's difficult to tell the material and thickness of a clothing item unless you actually feel it. So, I was happy to find a brick and mortar option dedicated to Northface. Anyway, a clerk was welcoming and offered to help me. They had lots of heavy, hiking jackets. But not what I was looking for. The clerk told me I could find more options on line. Dang. So I left empty handed and disappointed. But the store is nice if you are looking for Artic wear. Prices are high, but the clothes wear well and are constructed beautifully. Visit mid week, to find easy parking and no crowds.

Caveat - I HATE shopping and I HATE raincoats - so was not looking forward to the trip. However, Jocelyn made our shopping experience painless - she was knowledgeable and very friendly. She showed me the options and explained how each were different. She allowed us to chat but checked back frequently enough that we felt taken care of. Raincoat and a sweet water bottle carrier secured - perfect for our hikes, trips, and concert season. Is it cheap? Nope. But I feel you get what you pay for. My hubs has had his same North Face rain jacket for almost 15 years, and he swears by North Face rain gear for the quality. Jocelyn also explained that all of their products are guaranteed against manufacturers defects for life - so you just have to bring it in and they will replace it. Sweet. Also, while it might be boring to some, I like that the styles and colors never really go out of style with tNF. I have had most of my tNF pieces since college and they are still kicking (shout out to my first Denali!). Of note, if it has been a minute since you have visited The North Face in the Fashion Mall, they are now in a smaller space upstairs - no longer beside the Apple Store space on the first floor.

Dick's Sporting Goods - Indianapolis - They have the cleats

Dick's has a monopoly on track cleats, apparently. It's the only place I could find around Indy…read morethat actually sells them in person. Cleats are the kind of shoes you need to try on in person, because you don't want to eff around with running shoes. So if you're looking for cleats, they got a lotta them here! Lots of colors to choose from, and they range from $60 to $180. Guess which ones my kid gravitated to? We tried some on, which was easy to do because there were many people around to help us. But if you visit and you can't find someone, this Dick's has a kiosk in the shoe section where you can request shoes to try on, and someone will hypothetically materialize from somewhere and bring them to you. I like this Dick's in Castleton because it tends to have more product in stock than the one in Carmel. But I also like Dick's in general (that's what she said) because it was one of the stores I could convince my kids to visit with me when they were younger. We would ride the escalator up and down, and sit in the canoes, and climb into the tents, and see who could punch the punching bag the hardest. Who knew that Dick's could be entertaining as well as a place to find sporting goods? Good times. Now, my kids come with me to Dick's to try to convince me to drop $200 on shoes they're going to wear for four weeks. Take me back to the canoe!

Today, I asked for help finding the Crocs and a clerk stopped what he was doing and walked me over to the racks. On my previous visit, I was looking for running gloves and a manager went in the back to find some for me because they were off season. I am always happy to find brick and mortar options that I can examine, compare and try on, before purchasing. As I left today, a check thanked me for visiting. The store is clean. There is plenty of parking and the only negative I can think of to say is that the parking lot has multiple potholes. As I read the negative reviews, I am baffled.
