There was a man looking for shoes next to me lamenting about this as well. The clearance section was pitiful for men's shoes in comparison for the selection they offer for women. I've noticed this is the case at most of the DSW locations but this Plainfield store was really lacking in options. I received confirmation (from the only employee I saw there on a Sunday afternoon) after searching myself that if I want to find purple Nike's for men I should probably be looking in the Womens section. Sigh. I guess it isn't always a man's world especially shopping wise.

Thanks be to God that I found Cento's Shoes. I like mom-and-pop shops; they have dedicated owners whose top goal is customer satisfaction. Cento's Shoes is the paradigm of a generational business, and its atmosphere arouses memories of yore: times when quality and craftsmanship mattered. I love my Samuel Hubbard shoes, and I was nervous for anyone, other than the manufacturer, to service them. My initial instincts were wrong. During my first visit, the owner and I discussed the perfect sole, based on comfort and durability. The following day, he texted me a picture of an available sole, which I accepted. In less than a week's time, the job was complete. The shoes were immaculate, shined to perfection, and all their various nicks and notches were repaired. The new soles provided a more comfortable wear than the originals. Cento's Shoes also sells a variety of shoes, care products, and an eclectic selection of hats. It's the kind of shop your grandfather visited on his way to Lovers' Lane. Cento's Shoe's is a must for anyone who owns fine footwear, and they have my highest recommendation.

Mike Cento is a true craftsman. He took 2 pairs of shoes, resoled them, cleaned them up, polished…read morethem, etc., and now they are like new shoes. One of the pairs, my Footjoy Classics Spikeless, stopped being produced in 2009 so I wasn't sure how difficult of a project this might be for Mike. Turns out they look better than they did when they were new! More support, better constructed, and they look brand new. Mike took a pair of shoes that were literally falling apart and brought them back to life, even better than before. These Footjoys look better than anything Footjoy sells these days! Mike did such a great job that I dropped off another pair when I picked up my last 2 pair. And I have about 3 more pairs of shoes that are in need of being recrafted, Cento Shoes will be wear I am taking them. The price is right at Cento Shoes and they carry all the good and necessary shoe care products to keep your shoes in great shape and well nourished. Jennifer who works in the front of the house is just amazing and super kind. She got me taken care of in no time and while I was there picking up my shoes I got some new socks and shoe care accessories too. Cento Shoes has been around longer than I have been alive and Mike Cento has the same passion for shoes that I do. Footwear is really important to me. Although there are many of these shoe stores in Central Indiana, this was our first visit to the shop. My wife was thrilled to find a large selection of boots in a wide variety of styles and colors and SIZES. We were greeted when we entered and encouraged to browse. We were asked if we were looking for anything specific and since we were, she directed us to four aisles of boots! They also have some comfy seats in the aisles to try on a shoe to see how it fits. (Note that they only have one shoe in a box to avoid having customers grab and go without paying. Fortunately, when my wife liked one of the options she tried on, the sales clerk asked her what size she wanted and explained she would have to make a quick trip to the back to find the matching shoe for my wife lonely boot. My wife had the companion shoe within a minute or two and it fit as well as the other. The clerk carried the boots to the counter (along the side of the store) while my wife put on the pair she wore in. On our way to the counter, my wife noticed a few more (non-shoe) items that she decided to pick up as well. My wife was impressed that they had such affordable shoes as well as a large selection. I don't know if this is a place she would go looking for a "fancy" pair of shoes, but she was pleased that they carried so many functional shoes and related items in a clean store that was organized and maintained. She is already looking for the next opportunity to head back here to pick up some sandals (she's dreaming of warmer weather) that have straps on the back of the heel. I selected a pair that was not only functional, but felt like slippers, fitting perfectly. Pricing was similar to online options. While I was there I noticed how well stocked they were with summer shoes (all high-end quality brands), beautiful handbags and tons of Zionsville themed clothing. I had to leave before I bought more!
