I get to this store at 8:30 , mind you they do close at 9 so that means I have 20 mins left (I'm the ONLY customer) ... I'm trying to find certain things that they don't have out on the floor but I couldn't find anyone anywhere & that's from the moment I walked in & start looking for what I wanted ; so I'm there for at least 15mins looking at items while trying to see if I can find someone to help , by the time I find someone & ask for help they instantly tell me to wait so they can find someone else (she seemed to be a manager at that) but that person didn't seem to be doing lil to nothing anyhow , so you telling me I'm here for already 15 mins looking for help & you have to get someone else to assist me!? I've been in sales for 7 years & when I see someone or someone asks for my help I instantly stop what I'm doing IF I'm not already assisting a customer to make it my business to make sure they get the help they need with a smile on my face & all . If you knew better you'd do better!!!! Apparently if you make a return with a gift receipt they wont give you cash. Only refund original card used or in store credit. So opted to have them refund card of the person who got the shirts for me that didn't fit. I'd rather them have the money than me have in store credit. I won't buy anything from them anyway because of their outspoken stance on some topics. read more

Visited with my family on 2/7. The 'greeter' was rude right from the start. As we were leaving we asked a couple of questions about the status of a local skating rink. When a reference was made to a nearby rink she remarked that it was 'full of Spanish' and that this what is wrong with the establishment. Even my normally dis-engaged teenagers found that comment disturbing, asking if she meant Hispanics or the actual language, and commenting that it was sad people still felt the need to use others' heritage as a derogatory term. With 3 kids in sports, we on average, we spend a rather large amount of money at Dick's locations on a monthly basis.However, after this experience, we will not be returning to the Avon location and will seek out other options for our sporting goods needs. read more

While this is the closest Dick's to my house, it is not my favorite. Despite the fact that the store looks big and seems to house a lot, we find the selection to be way worse than the store in Plainfield. The staff is fairly friendly and tries to help but I typically only will come here if I am looking to browse and not needing something specific. For example, the Plainfield carries quite a few additional outwear clothing brands that Avon does not. This store does usually carry a clearance section which is nice but be careful of Dick's clearance pricing, sometimes it is a laughable amount of discount. read more

The sales associate's name was Darci. Not sure if she was only holiday help or not, however she was totally helpful. She was personable and could relate to the purchase I had made. I was extremely disappointed when I had come back about two weeks later not being able to find her and or being helped by the sales associates at Dicks Sporting Goods in Avon. The other staff members just seem not to care, and or point to the merchandise and not offer five star customer service. read more

They don't have everything for sports. I know hockey isn't popular but It's a sporting goods store, where else am I going to buy my hockey stuff?? I went in looking for hockey tape, I was told by one of the associates that they didn't sell hockey gear and that i would have to drive up to Caselton, as that is the only Dicks that carries hock equipment. read more
