My wife bought my son a very expensive backpack (nike elite 90$) from dicks. He uses it for school every day. he has used it for 2 months and just noticed that the store forgot to take the security tag off. well i went in to dicks with this used back pack to get them to take the security device off.. well no, dick's won't do that without a receipt. I guess they like to think of all their customers as probable thieves first and a customer only if you have proper documentation. I don't typically keep receipts for things that aren't size dependent and we certainly didn't think we had a security tag on the bag when we walked out. It would have taken no time to make the removal, but the "policy" trumps customer service at this store for sure. I will not shop here again. read more

Store manager not helpful. He was argumentative and condescending. All I needed to do was return an unworn pair of shoes. I had bought to pair in different sizes online. I did not receive an email copy of order. I did have copy of Pay Pal receipt from transaction but he said if I don't have order number I can't help you. I left building and called customer service. They found order in about 10 seconds and sent me copy. Seems to me that store manger could have helped he just didn't want to. read more

I stop by today to buy a crossbow could not find anyone to help me I ask a sales person walking by if he could help he said he would send someone never happened so I decided to come back another day as I had other things to do on my way out and Notre Dame jersey caught my eye I decide to buy at the rude person at the cash register had no business being in customer service you could do better at your local McDonald's on believable and since when did they stop using words like thank you I will never be back you're not the only person in town selling crossbows trust me if I could leave a negative number I would attend that wouldn't be politically correct read more

I went to the Plainfield dicks sporting-goods today to look for shoes. After scanning my shoes at the kiosk and waiting for 20 minutes no one came to help. Another woman went to the front register and got some help. The shoes I picked were $118 on sale. I took them up to the front register. The girl at the register was speaking into her headphones and not even looking at me when I walked up to the register. I had to tell her that I had $30 credit and I had to give her my phone number because she never asked. She rang the shoes up and said $140. I told her the shoes were on sale and she just stared at me. Did not offer to check. Was not interested at all. Told her I didn't want at the non sale price and she didn't say a word. She was too busy talking to other people in the store to help and she didn't care. I just walked away . I'll go back to the Avon store from now on. This is a young girl who obviously wasn't interested in working. This was around 2 o'clock in the afternoon. Store was basically empty and you couldn't get help at the register or back in the shoes. As a fairly frequent shopper of Dick's because of husband's employee discount (he does not work at a store, so no bias), I would have to say that this one has a far better selection than the somewhat nearby Avon location. Many brands are only carried here and for brands that are carried in both, the variety is higher in this location. It probably helps that it is a two story location. We have also found on a few visits that the customer service here is great. They have a large golfing section here too for the golf fans and a big sports team section including local teams and nearby colleges. Even though this is farther away from out home, we tend to go out of our way to shop here! read more

Ok, so today started off great! Me and my friend decided to head out this way to get some shopping done before graduation. When I found a pair of shoes I liked the sales member was nowhere to be found. When he returned, me and my friend were just standing and he pushed his way between us. Mind you we were standing somewhat close so that was just 50 shades of awkward. Then when he came back out from the store room with the shoes in my size he tossed them on the counter, said "here" and walked away. He never checked up on me or my friend to make sure the shoes fit fine or anything. I really don't care that he was rude it's whatever. It just adds to a string of subpar customer services experiences at this store. The manager JP, I spoke to on the phone was very nice and promised to talk to the associate. I wouldn't be a dick and tell you to avoid the store. Just maybe be prepared if you ever talk to Bryce. ‍ read more
