Busy store, many loyal customers, and be prepared to handle all the stuffed animal heads throughout. My husband favors this shop and visits often. They carry new and used weapons with fair prices. The shortages of amo and weapons are tough everywhere so if you're looking for something specific just keep trying and let the staff know. The staff is helpful and reserved which I know puts many off. If they know you, yes, they appear friendly at first but do not let this put you off. I didn't even know this place existed beforehand; I was in the area and decided to check out what they had and was impressed by their wide selection of firearms and accessories at discounted prices compared to online shops and other local stores. These are good, genuine, down to earth people at this store. They are honest, helpful and very upfront. I've seen others say that the workers are racist on a couple of reviews and as a black man I did not get that vibe once so ever! I was treated with the upmost respect. Thank you to the staff that was too busy to ask if I needed any help as I stood there for 15 minutes drooling on your Dillon XL650. I certainly would have left your store with around $1,400 less cash in my pocket by the time I bought all the reloading equipment needed to get started. The phone sales must be fantastic in your store since cutomers calling in seem to have preference over those in front of you with cash. I can't say I understand the business model where you build a beautiful store with great inventory and fail so miserably on taking care of the customers eager to hand you cash. Prices seem similar to other stores. I guess I saved around $100 in sales tax by looking at reloading equipment in your store and buying it online at Kraken Pop after I drove the 40 minutes back to my home. read more

Not sure why all the comments about poor service. All I can think is that things may have changed recently. I visited today and was treated just fine. They have moved and are now at 2605 E Main St #120, next to Speedway Auto Parts. They have an excellent selection of firearms, reloading supplies, and an open family friendly space. I was there with a revolver that had a bullet stuck in the barrel (squib round). They helped me out at no charge even though they had never seen me before. I looked over their 1911s while waiting. Prices were a little higher than what you would see online, but with service like that I will definitely consider them for my next purchase. read more

A friend introduced me to this place a while back, anything you need they more than likely have it. I was in the market for a Sig P226 specifically a MK25. I asked if they had one or could their hands on one. They said they got 1 in stock, I asked to see it. I fell in love with it, bought it on the spot. I come to find out it wasn't in the display case cause one of the employees wanted it for himself but they sold it to me instead! I could see the look of "sadness" in the employees eyes knowing he will have to wait longer to get his own MK25. They had the handgun I was looking for when no one else could find it. They held it for me for the two hours it would take me to get in to purchase it. I got there just before closing time and they were very nice and stayed and let me complete the purchase. I was an instant fan of this place and the people. It's a locals gun store with their local fan-boys. Any Saturday you wander into it, you can bet Earl, Lester, Jimmy Ray, and Bobby, (hell maybe even Frank if he ain't working and he can escape that psycho wife of his for a while), will be there, (not buying anything mind you, but jacking their jaws...). Sometimes the local goobers seem to tie up the counter people with their "No shit there I wuz at the Wal-Mart!" adventure stories, that customer services seems very hit and miss. We did get a nice deal on a .38 for my wife though. She is happy with it. There are worse places out there, (trust me I been there), and better places too, but if you can get past the "firepower fan boys" that show up and hang out with the counter monkeys, then you should be able to do what you need to do. First thing when I walk in its a big cloud of smoke with il man bob himself smokin away at the counter. After reading a couple of negative reviews, I had to sign up and post a review. Only a completely satisfied and supportive customer would do this. I'll also add that they don't need me to defend them. I'd wager 90% of their customers are repeat customers. At any rate, Plainfield Shooting Supplies is hands down the finest gun shop in the Indianapolis area (and likely the state). Their staff are extremely knowledgeable, supportive, and friendly. I don't know who these "negative guys" talked to, but Bob and his entire staff are courteous and professional - In other words, they know their firearms. From a consumer standpoint, their prices have ALWAYS been the best in town. You will not find better pricing in the state of Indiana (on firearms). Tell you what - I'm not going to keep praising them from my point of view, but I'll leave you with this thought- After the tragic Sandy Hook incident, every other firearms store in town jacked their prices on everything "tactical" - You know what I'm talking about. In fact, I personally saw $2400.00 on an $800.00 rifle at another store. As a testament to Bob's character, everything in his store is priced exactly as it would have been in November 2012 - that's real character right there folks. I bought a new gun there this week. They didn't have a "newer" used gun of the type I was looking for but the price on this one was very reasonable. Ammo was priced about like Walmart or GanderMountain and even though they were busy (my sales guy was handling me and 2 other customers at the same time) it didn't take long for me to get my purchase and be in and out. Of course I had to wait for my friend that bought another gun himself. All in all I didn't see the problems as posted by other negative posters on here. Of course I went in with friends (regular customers) so that my have helped. I think if Bob really knows you he may even come down a little more on pricing - but I'm HAPPY! read more

The previous reviewers must be people that spend alot of time sitting in this gun store staring at every customer that comes in just to laugh and mock them if they are unsure of what exactly they need. I usually do not post reviews, however, this was my 3rd unsatisfactory exprience in this gun store, after finding what I needed on my OWN I put the supplies back on the shelf and left the store, I will never spend another dollar here. I will be sure to drive to mooresville next time I have any gun supply needs. The men working here are extremely unfriendly and unhelpful unless you have the know how of a gunsmith do not expect them to help you find what you need or talk to you in a respectful tone. When asking what .45 ACP bullets perform better because of a previous negative experience I had with one of the brands, the response I got was as he walked away to dismiss my question was "same bullet... they all make the same size hole." As he and the posse that takes up half the store smirked. I hope this store likes have the same 30 customers year after year stand blankfully taking up space in their store.
