I had a very weird experience at Dicks yesterday. I went in to return items purchased online. I had proof of purchase in the form of a barcode label attached to the original packaging and a record of the purchase on the Dicks app. I was told that because I paid using PayPal the refund could only be made using a Dicks gift card. PayPal is of course the most prominent payment option on the Dicks app. Furthermore the store manager informed me that I should never use payment methods like PayPal or Apple Pay on the Dicks app. This didn't sound right to me so I left the store and started an online return, returning the goods by mail. I have been to Dicks location near Castleton and have nothing but great things about the staff. However while shopping for matching set with my friend we were racially profiled. Loss prevention literally follow us for about 10mins until I took a picture . I ended up looking for staff to assist us looking for a larger size. He was helpful and assist. My friend after I told her this man was following us decided to put back everything she was getting . Later she was bother by the guy helping us , she stated he avoided eye contact. The store was neat and organized. This location lack a lot of L and XL clothing. I know this is a major hub for online order so maybe that's why they were out of stock of those sizes. The store is empty and I can see why. It was difficult tracking down an employee for assistance. We had to get a manager to find an employee for us. The employee tells us that to request a shoe to try on, we would have to search in one of their computer gadgets and request a shoe. The employee just walks away. Clean! Especially the bathrooms, they were disgusting. This is what you expect to find in a back woods old time filling station. Bugs in the toilet (assuming they fell from the dirty ceiling), sinks were filthy, floors were just grossly dirty. The rest of the store needed cleaned too. Random trash on the floor. I didn't buy anything...it was too disgusting, and didn't want to possibly bring bugs home in a purchase. I went to Academy, and although the selection was much less, the store was clean. read more

09 /30/2024: I HAD $1200 IN MY POSITION/GOING THROUGH AND MAKING SURE WHAT I DID NOT WANT AND PRICE CHECKING BECAUSE GUESS WHAT? I AM A SMART SHOPPER AND DON'T LIKE WASTING MY #%^*iTIME OR MONEY WHICH BOTH ARE VERY VERY VERY VALUABLE TO ME.. Long story short I'm approached and asked if I'm going to leave this pile of a mess of clothes for his guys to clean up yada yada yada some other words that aren't meaningful to this post. I told him that I had been there for roughly 2 hours or definitely approaching it quickly, and had done my very best as I was trying things on to put it back exactly where I found them instead of just throwing them randomly throughout the store like I have done 1000 times and everyone else does every single time they walk into any retail store ever. I don't like to be singled out, especially whenever I am being polite, courteous, and actively making the attempts to their business as I'm within this store . I literally handed another employee's scanner to another associate, She was a total smoke show by the way) as some other employee had forgotten it close to where I'd been trying things on near the beginning of my visit. Just wanted to voice that I do not appreciate being treated like I'm a criminal or am causing issues to the productiveness of Dick's Sporting Goods just because of his thoughts/opinions of myself whatever they may have been at that time. Felt inclined to write a review for Dick's after our shopping trip this weekend. All the employees were super kind and helpful. I feel like I received a smile (masked smile) from every employee. And most of these employees were young high school/college age kids. Great customer service! This location is currently undergoing renovations. They have put up big white "sheets" to cover up the renovations which is nice. I also love this location because parking is awesome. There's a ton on either side of the store. read more

When you hover over the two star rating, Yelp's definition is "Meh. I've experienced better." That pretty succinctly sums up every experience I've had Dick's. "Huge sales" are very underwhelming. Also, this is like the Meijer of sporting good stores. A million types of things, but very poor selection within the discreet types of items. When it here, it is usually for running or biking things. The prices are comparable to local running or biking shops. The difference is that in a local biking shop, I feel like part of what I am paying for is the expertise of the person helping me. In Dick's, I have run into few experts. Also (pitiful), I have noticed spelling errors in their signage. Really? One shining bright spot is their shoe department. The employees know their stuff and are extremely patient in trying to help you find the right shoe. I would come back again and again for that. read more

So I have had a VERY UNFORTUNATE EXPERIENCE with Dicks here in Carmel. Bought a Prince 6800 table tennis table on sale. Regular price 599 and paid 300 for it. I picked it up - willing to assemble myself and take it home. This thing weighs a TON and after getting it to my basement it was damaged!!!!! I wanted to Avoid the almost $200 fee and a 3 week wait. Unpacked it at home and the table too is all scraped up, the metal legs are crushed. I was willing to take a 50% depreciation refund, but no go. Keep in mind this thing is as heavy as a piano. They offered me 20% discount on a new unit. But have to bring old one back. Did I say this thing is as heavy as a piano?? I would advise against this store and especially against buying a table tennis unit here. They stacked them all on top of One another - probably what caused the scrapes and bent metal. This was a very sad and unfortunate experience. Dont buy it. If you do dont go for the basement and sure as heck pay the $200 fee and wait 3-4 weeks! It is just not worth it. read more

Do you have to fail an IQ year to work in the shoe department here? These employees suck. They acted as though they were doing me a favor by "helping" me. When I asked the salesperson, Howard, if the shoe fit my son, he gave me a blank stare and said, "I dunno." When I asked him if he had another size, again I got the response, "I dunno." I got a new fishing pole here and had one of the workers (i dont remember his name but he was young and had glasses and dark hair) put the line on for me and he probably did the worst fucking job i've ever received. It was way too loose so every time i would cast, the line would just tangle up and i'd have to cut the line and constantly re-rig up. i've wasted damn near more than half of the length of my line because of this. if this dude offers to set up the line on your rod, i would highly recommend telling him to fuck off. now i have to go through the hassle of getting it re-strung. if you're reading this dude, you're a fucking idiot. read more

Was told we could have delivery within 48 hours. That was not true. A week later we were able to schedule a delivery window between 9-12am. Just a warning to others. Get a printed receipt. I had purchased two jackets ($300 value total). Said OK to emailing the receipt rather than printing. Mike (nice guy) apparently entered my email wrong. So...went to return jackets within 24 hrs. but since I only had the gift receipts...and (despite the fact that Mike recognized me from the day before)...they could only refund me with gift cards. Found out through calling Dick's customer service line that a manager could have made a credit refund happen..but the employees apparently didn't know about that option. Soooo...now I have a gift card instead of a refund on items returned within 24 hrs and never out of the bag. Certainly not a big deal, but just wanted to save someone else the headache. When I told them the sign said 99 cents in large letters, the girl shamelessly pointed to the 6 font micro print underneath that said "hand warmers only". Not much options for cycling. I wanted to try out cycling shoes and all they had was 1 box of some random shoe. I understand it's not cycling store but if you are looking for cycling stuff go to local cycling stores. Lesson learned. Other wise the place is great for camping equipments and other sports stuff. I always ask myself why I even bothered almost every single time I shop there. Their guns and hunting department is laughable. Very low-end in everything. The ammo selection is ridiculously small, and an older employee incredulously laughed at me when I asked for .44 mag ammo, as if it was an impossible commodity....it is not, and it's plentiful elsewhere. Jerk. The young checkout clerks are rude and obnoxious. They snatch your card and then flip it back to you like they're cool. The camping supplies are primarily consumer, weekend warrior Coleman quality, and generally expensive. About the only thing this place has going for it is a selection of Nike, Adidas, and Under Armour workout wear and running shoes, but most of the rest is a joke. The rewards card system is ridiculous, as you may get a $10 off coupon once or twice a year. An older man on the main floor who greets you is great, but the rest of his employees are obnoxious losers. Go somewhere else. read more
