This delicious pop-up restaurant at the beloved Theordore Rex is such a treat! Chef Kaitlin Steets' five-course tasting menu is well curated and filling! We ordered the "degustation" menu but I did sub the snapper for the beets dish from the "vegetable" menu. We enjoyed the progression of the meal and savored every bite. The surprise course of madeleines was a yummy special touch Definitely make a reservation ahead of time as there is limited seating. #ProTip: They offer a wine pairing for an additional $55 or you can buy wine by the glass or bottle as you please.

We adored every dish of the 5-course tasting menu from the Littlefoot pop-up at T-Rex. I got the vegetarian menu, and my spouse ordered the 'degustation.' I enjoyed the vegetarian beet dish more than the snapper, but the "shrimp snack" that came with the snapper was one of the highlights of the meal. The surprise, savory madelines with a cheese fondue. We dined in the record room, which is detached from the restaurant for a private dining experience. The whole experience was a lot of fun, and I hope that we'll see more from Chef Streets in the future.

Girls night out, and so happy! Service was ok great, and enjoyed patio. The mini Madelines are not on the menu but AMAZING! If more than one attending for dinner, do both menus. Everything was good, but in my order was: Madeline's (spelling?) Mushrooms Surprise shrimp, for the best tempuraesque breading EVER Salad Beets Fish Dessert Quail Farro (sooo good, but didn't need brulee onions, but looked legit. The sauce at the bottom was hidden and GLORIOUS! So surprised how much I loved the basil cucumber combo. Also feel I could eat the portion as an entire meal) In short, even what is at the bottom of the list was awesome!

Incredible pop-up dining experience in the Theodore Rex space by chef Kaitlin Steets! First of all, the space is amazing. Airy, industrial, mid-century, cozy lounge aesthetic. It's truly not that big of a space, and it feels even more intimate with the covid-safe spacing of dining tables. Awesome date night vibe with attentive service. But of course, the main event is the food! You choose from two set menus with five courses (and an unlisted bread course). My fiancé ordered the degustation (meat) menu and I ordered the vegetable menu. (And we both ordered the wine pairings!) Honestly, I think I was the winner of the evening. Chef Steets really know how to make vegetables shine. By far, my favorite dish of the night was the Lions Mane Mushrooms. Awesome texture, meaty & smoky. Other highlights were the Salade (fresh but not too acidic!) and bread course (tasted like oyster crackers with butter!). I'm not a huge beet fan either but these beets were amazing. The wine pairings were spot on and interesting! I felt that the experience was worth it just to learn about the really unique wines featured as pairings. The meat course definitely had more unique wine pairings than the vegetable course. So all in all, I think we made the best move by trying out the whole menu as a pair! As much as I love Theodore Rex, I'm going to be sad to see this pop up go! I can't wait to see what new concept Chef Steets comes up with next.

To my surprise, I still ended up waiting 50 mins to pickup my food which was really frustrating. I understand patience and this being a small business but do believe preorders should have a speedier process! On to the food, I was pleasantly surprised by the flavors of both Vietnamese spices and traditional bbq in the rice. Not pictured I also tried the sausage which was as amazing as well. I think for the price, these were phenomenal. Unfortunately, something I ate from this spot, got me sick and due to this and the increased wait times, not sure if this will be a spot i'll revisit.

I recommend getting here very early, and preorder online if you can. I got here probably 15 minutes before they opened and there was already a line forming. Plenty of covered seating and the lawn area is pretty scenic. Here's what I ordered: Brisket BBH: the BBH is pretty good. Clean and light broth, but I think it would've benefitted from a little more sate as it was on the blander side. I think the brisket didn't really complement the dish. It was just thrown in there. It honestly would've been better without it, as the brisket makes the price tag quite steep... Pork ribs, brisket, spare ribs: gonna group these all together because they were all a bit of a letdown... Brisket wasn't as flavorful as I thought it would be for a Viet BBQ place. Both the pork ribs and spare ribs were dry. I like mine to be falling easily off the bone. Smoked turkey: most and flavorful but a little too salty. Bo La lot sausage: it was pretty flavorful, but I think if they really wanted to elevate this dish, they should wrap the sausage in lolot leaves... so it's true to its name. Curry dish: this tastes like your typical Thai red curry paste from the can. Rice was also a bit dry. Banh Xeo: probably my favorite dish. Very unique flavor... fatty, rich, savory! I would get this again. Too bad it's so small! Vietnamese slaw: quite literally (barely) pickled cabbage... not sure what makes it Vietnamese... Bok choy: typical stir fry wok style flavor. It's good, but small portion. Overall, I was a tad bit disappointed. The marketing team does a really good job of making their dishes look so delicious. But the reality was underwhelming... and pricy...

Chef Bham (previously from Alinea, amongst a few other baller restaurants) is a literal genius. The menu was a really thoughtful ode to various Filipino dishes with a little twist on each. You get the comforting tapsilog and taho that you might have grown up with alongside interesting flavors and ideas. Pandesal made into a tart crust, kinilaw made with daikon and beef...they also are very good at keeping in mind dietary restrictions: I was the annoying halal option, but, man did my experience rock. Pork belly replaced with enoki mushrooms or octopus, and the dish was still amazing. My sister was unfortunately gluten free, but still able to enjoy every bite. Because of the location, you get the experience of sitting with the chef and his team and that alongside them in almost in the kitchen. It's very cozy and different, and you learn a lot about each dish because of it (and his amazing team). I love Musaafer, but this may have become my new favorite high end place.

They allow byob and there's also a wine tasting as well. The 5 courses menu was thoughtfully crafted, with each dish rooted in heritage and memory. Also the fried rice with Wagyu, quail egg and topped with caviar was fantastic. Great texture and presentation. Service was impeccable. Chef Bham and the staff were deeply knowledgeable and genuinely passionate. Every glass was topped off before we even noticed. You could tell they weren't just serving food but also they were part of the storytelling. This experience deserves every bit of praise. If you're looking for something beyond the usual dining. Truly unforgettable. I'll be talking about this night for a long time.

It's the same dishes you've had at a dozen other Mexican restaurants around the city. Nothing on the plate made anyone at our table lean over and say "Okay, you have to try this." For what they're charging, you'd hope for at least one moment like that. Didn't happen. The one thing that genuinely bothered us was that we told them ahead of time that someone in our group had a spice allergy. Not a preference, an allergy. We were pretty explicit about it. It didn't seem to matter much. That's the kind of thing a restaurant really needs to get right, and they dropped the ball. Service was actually okay, though, to be fair. No real issues there, the staff were friendly and attentive enough. So there's that. But honestly? Houston has too many good options to settle for an overpriced average. If you're craving Mexican food, there are places in this city that will blow your mind for the same money or less. This just isn't one of them. We might swing by again someday if we're nearby, but we're not going out of our way.

This was the best meal I had my entire weekend! The place had ample parking. There was a solid staff cleaning, and the place was spotless. The front desk staff was helpful and patient with newbies, recommending menu items and accompaniments from the bar nearby. I had the chorizo breakfast taco and the pulled pork hash taco - I was delighted to find out that "hash" meant a delicious hash brown inside the taco. The egg was creamy and perfect inside a taco, the cheese was good, the meat was amazing. I don't think it's possible for me to be happier with roughly $9 in breakfast food. I will make it a point, even if it's not on my way, to visit Pit Room every time I'm in the Houston area going forward. It is a destination restaurant, in my opinion!

My wife and I had had a great experience at the Pit Room previously, so brought the rest of my family here to experience. I found the food to continue to be really good, especially the fatty brisket. Stopped by around 11 am, and there was still parking in the dedicated surface lot next to the building. The smell of bbq wasn't as prevalent as last time. Once walking in, you stand in line to first order your meat...which is immediately sliced in front of you. You then move further along to ask for your sides, including as many slices of plain white bread as you want. My daughter treated us this time, so didn't record prices, but thought it was reasonable. I liked the sliced brisket a lot, along with the side of elote corn and mac n cheese. The free toppings bar had the various pickled vegetables that really cut through the fattiness of the meat. Drinks were all self serve, with a water station and soda fountain. Probably ordered a bit less than expected for 4 people, but was happy that there were no left overs, and left not completely stuffed, since we had a long day ahead of us. By the time we left a little after noon, there was both a wait for tables and parking. We had come at the right time.
