Lamb chops and hot pot meats
Trinh D.

Really enjoyed our experience at Little Sheep! This location replaced the old Simmer Huang. The AYCE option is a lot of fun because it includes yakitori, hot food, and free sodas in addition to the hot pot. The hot food selection includes things like dumplings and fried items, so there's quite a bit to try beyond the hot pot itself. A few things to know before you go * Yakitori: You order these directly with your waitress. Just be prepared for a wait! Some skewers can take 20-30 minutes to come out, and you may not receive everything you ordered at once. They continue bringing them out throughout the meal, so I'd recommend ordering what you want early and being patient. * Hot pot meats: You order these separately at the front by ringing the bell and asking for the hot pot meats. It's a little different from the usual AYCE setup, so it's worth knowing ahead of time. * Lunch vs. dinner: Dinner is about $10 more, but I think it's worth considering if you want the premium options. Dinner includes an abalone in your soup as well as additional premium items like scallops and eel. Overall, we really enjoyed the experience and would definitely come back. The main thing is to pace yourself and manage your expectations around the food timing, you won't necessarily get everything right away, especially the yakitori.

I was very disappointed with my experience here. The service was extremely slow. We were seated quickly, but our waitress did not acknowledge us for over 30 minutes. We sat there without receiving a menu or even our soup base. The meat slicer noticed that we had been waiting for such a long time and ended up taking our order instead. There were only four meat options available on the dinner menu, which was very disappointing considering we were paying dinner prices. The sauce bar and the vegetable/seafood selection were also very limited and disappointing for dinner. On top of that, our waitress took an incredibly long time to acknowledge us. Just an FYI for anyone considering dining here: you have to go up to the window yourself to order your meat, and you are also responsible for getting your own napkins, water, and utensils. The waitress does not provide these for you. Overall, the service and food selection were not worth the dinner price. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this place to my friends or family.

Their weekend lunch has less item than dinner but the price is the same. Next time, I will come at dinner time.

Its solid yum yum . Had a great experience at Little Sheep! The hot pot was delicious, the broth was flavorful, and the ingredients were fresh. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was cozy. Definitely a great spot for hot pot with friends and family. Would come back again

Been here a couple of times and it's always been a solid casual local spot for ramen. Love that…read morethey open late too, making it perfect for those late-night dinners! I've never had to wait for a table since I usually come pretty late. My go-to is the Hinodeya "House" Ramen with level 3 spicy, but I've enjoyed the other ramens I've tried as well. The Spicy Miso is a good option if you want a little kick, while the Clam Ramen has a nice, clean-tasting broth with plenty of clams, just watch out for a little sand or small shell fragments. For appetizers, I recommend the chicken karaage (large, juicy pieces!) and umami Brussels sprouts. If you have room for dessert, give their matcha parfait a try too! Overall, a reliable spot in the area that I'll keep coming back to whenever I'm craving ramen.

Our Absolute Favorite Local Go-To Ramen Spot!…read more Love that this is a well-known spot both in California and Japan, and so lucky it's right here close to home--just a 10-minute drive! It's always busy, but when it's just the two of us on a weekday evening or weekend afternoon, it's usually pretty easy to grab a seat. I love that they have an online waitlist to keep the physical wait short, and that they even take reservations when you have a group. Tonight we were a party of six on a Friday night, and I was so glad I secured a 6:00 PM reservation a couple of days in advance! It was super busy. My parents were in town for a short visit from Vegas on their way to Elk Grove, so bringing them to one of our favorite ramen spots totally hit the spot. We started with the edamame and fried gyoza appetizers, which were fantastic. The yuzu cocktail was super refreshing, especially paired with ramen. My parents loved their creamy tonkotsu ramen with the crispy katsu served on the side. As for us, we went with our absolute go-to: the Spicy TanTan Ramen (Level 4 for me, Level 10 for babe!). We always enjoy the Spicy TanTan for its rich, creamy, flavorful broth, and love the spicy ground pork. This is a definite go-to whenever we're craving ramen and so happy to have it so close to home!

Our favorite was the lobster/filet mignon combo dinner and the XO roll. The filet mignon was perfectly cooked and tender. I enjoyed the lobster being cut into pieces rather than the giant meat in the tail. The XO was the chef's recommendation and was honestly one of the best seared salmon sushi we had. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but the inside is tranquil, clean, and modern. The staff were extremely friendly and since it's not a large restaurant, it felt like they were very attentive. I noticed this restaurant offers a small room for those who need to pray. It's also a halal restaurant so you'll notice this on the menu since they do not offer alcohol or pork items. One of my favorite discoveries of this restaurant is the chicken teriyaki roll. I feel like more restaurants need to offer this! I loved it! Their hibachi is flavorful and meat is tender. You get the same great flavor of a typical hibachi without having the awkwardness of a chef cooking in front of you or wreaking of food smell on your clothes when you go home. This environment is like a typical restaurant where the food comes from a kitchen in the back so it completely eliminates that. Large groups beware - This restaurant is small so and we witnessed a table of 8-10 get separated since they could not seat them together. I'm sure a reservation ahead of time would have helped this situation. Food is really great quality though and we will definitely be back!

The chewy breading on it really hit the spot for me, and I could definitely see myself ordering it every time I come back. The sushi was great as always, and because I went with a non-seafood-eating friend, I also got to explore some of their non-fish dishes, which were surprisingly tasty! The chicken karaage was a little chewy and oily for me, but I enjoyed the fried gyozas. Overall, still a big fan of this place, and now I know I need to get the agedashi tofu every time too.

I believe it was three dollar hand rolls and they also have half off sake and beer, which is a great deal and I'm gonna have to come back to try that! the ambience is also really nice and quiet. The service is quick so it's a nice place to have a quick lunch if you're in a rush. I will definitely be back for the happy hour and for dinner, but overall really loved the sushi!
