Small restaurant at the corner of the plaza. Fresh fish and creative rolls, large tv displaying sports. 1st visit was a midweek date night (while kid was occupied at an activity in the area). 2nd visit was to celebrate a family birthday lunch. Rolls were great. Ramen was decent but I'd save my ramen appetite for an actual craft ramen place. (The bamboo was strong in smell and taste.) Attentive service kept our water cups filled each visit.

This was a treat! On weekends they're open all day which is hard to find with most izakayas. Pricing was solid and the food was great! I thought that their Yakitori could use a little bit more of that char/smoky flavor but still solid. Servers were very nice and the fish quality on the sushi was a lot better than I had initially expected. Would come back again!

Open Late AND Great food!.. my wife and I were so hungry and I had low batt.. so only one pic. We've eaten here before... service was better this time.. good serviçe seems to make food taste better!..Edamame, Hamachi Kama, Spicy Tuna Roll, Miso Soup, Nigiri- Hamach (Yellow Tail) and Hotate(Scallop)..

Got takeout from here on a weekend I ordered a bunch of vegan items on the menu via their online partner. The food was ready in about 30 minutes - when I got there the chef was adding finishing touches. So I checked the restaurant interiors. It's a nice place decorated well. The food I liked the best here were the specialty rolls - both the vegan specialty rolls are delicious The avocado roll is also really good. The tofu was something I wasn't used to and didn't enjoy. But I will still be going back for the specialty rolls.

Kakushi is solid. The place is small, vibes are super chill. I appreciate that they're open late. They have become my go-to for late night sushi. I have enjoyed everything I've ordered, including the spicy miso ramen. This stood out to me because it actually had a kick to it. The broth had depth and great flavor. I've ordered the kakushi roll and I like it, but there's a tad too much sauce for my liking. Tekka maki is standard. The Kaisen Don was good. I like the way the rice is seasoned paired with the toppings. Generally, if I see this on the menu somewhere I try it. It's on point with the others I've tried.

Came here last year for a birthday dinner. It's located in a small little strip mall in Newark and the interior is of a typical Japanese-American restaurant, with a small bar where fresh fish is prepped by the staff and some singular tables outside of that. We had a reservation for a weekday and were seated very promptly (wasn't as many people yet around 6/7PM so probably didn't need a reservation). We were given some recommendations for izakaya and other small bites to share and we landed on a sushi roll, hand rolls, and four skewers. All were great and freshly made - the mango crunch roll was solid, hand rolls, specifically the toro was awesome, and the chicken thigh skewers were some of the best we've had. The pork belly was a slight bit chewy but had a great fattiness to them that gave a unctious umami to them. Would recommend this to anyone who is in the area and looking for a good izakaya spot.

Can't go wrong with the kaisen don. The cheesecake cake out toasty it was nice. They accept reservations. We came in a Thursday so it wasn't busy. Small and dimly lit

A place to get Sushi, Ramen, and Yakitori. With so much Japanese food in the area there aren't a lot that offer all this in one place. The green tea and edamame is also free which is a great bonus. It's in a plaza so plenty of parking and in the 7 years we've been in Fremont I think this is the third business that has been here. The interior was freshly remodeled so it feels different than what it was before. Chef's Special Tartar: This was one of the last plates brought to the table, it's mixed raw fish, avocado, cucumber, topped with tobiki and quail eggs. It comes with taro chips for dipping, it was too saucy and sweet for me and I would have preferred less sauce. Sushi: Kids wanted salmon and tamago and both were good, nice rice to fish ratio. We've had the chirashi don before and that was great as well. Chazuke with pickled plum: rice in tea with ume and garnishing on top, so good on a cold day, very clean and healthy as well. Yakitori/kushiyaki: Beef and chicken thighs were fine, they are lacking a deep grilled flavor and are more light in flavor, not sure if they are using binchotan in the back. The issue was with the chicken wings, we came last year for Valentine's and the parts near the bone were raw. This time 2/4 of our wings had a sewery, turned taste like they were really old and going bad. The weird ones are the back two in my picture, the other 2 were fine. They are up and coming and there was one waitress for the whole restaurant when we went recently. It took pretty long to make eye contact and get our receipt because she was running around to different tables.

Special Oyster (2 Pcs) - good!
Anne P.

Main conclusion: not worth going. The service is very cold and transactional. The food has potential but essentially misses the mark. Mentaiko fries: not crispy enough, many parts of it were unfortunately soggy/limp. The mentaiko sauce only covered the very top layer of the fries and the rest were plain unseasoned fries. The tartar: the lotus chips that came with it were stale and not crispy. It was over sauced and the sauce itself was pretty one dimensional. Beef tongue: not bad but not great. The toast: has potential if the proportions were better. The toast part is too big and makes it hard to eat it with all the components. Special oyster: this was the only fully solid thing that was ordered. The ambiance inside was nice as it was well decorated with nice Japanese music playing. There's easy parking too. Just unfortunate that the ambiance was really the best thing about this place.

Sashimi deluxe

The food is great! Bang for your buck. Service was quick as well. The place is clean, bathroom is also clean.

I had a great experience here. The fish was very fresh, and you can really taste the quality in every bite. The sashimi cuts were generous, and the nigiri was well balanced with the right amount of rice. Service was attentive without being overbearing, and everything came out quickly. Definitely a solid spot if you're looking for high-quality sushi. The ambiance was great. Chef was Han amazing service and professional.

Party of 2 on a Sunday. Pleasantly surprised with this establishment. We stopped in on a whim as the place next door that we were going to was closed. Glad we did. Restaurant is super clean. The service was friendly. The soups and roll we tried were all very good and super fresh. I will definitely go back.

Was kind of late and was really craving Ramen, our normal spots close early so I came on Yelp to see if i could find any Ramen spots open at 10pm on a Saturday night and came across this place which is really close to me. Lots of parking and the businesses around in that little corner were also open. Was pretty empty when we got here only had one table, it had a nice setup and decor. We were greeted and sat right away. I was little hesitant because I know it's not specialized in Ramen but it definitely surprised me! The broth was super rich in flavor and creamy, the noodles cooked perfectly and i loved the flavor of the egg! They don't have any add ons or spicy levels you can do but I was really satisfied of how it came as is. Great rich flavor and good portion size. Also as soon as you get seated you get complimentary edamame and lemon water. Our server didn't have a stand out personality but he served well, he gave us water refills and packed up my leftovers. I enjoyed coming here and haven some good ramen and hot sake. I know now whenever Im craven some Ramen late night this definitely will be my spot to come Saturday nights they close at midnight!

But what gets me coming back (and I've been coming since opening) is how consistent they are with quality and flavor. I am in no way vegan but my go to order is the Creamy Vegan because the Dashi broth is insanely good. I think about it often and it's worth the try. (I've never had a bad order). You can always add ingredients or take anything out if you don't want it. It's also good to note other items on the menu are very tasty too. I have tried a few of the appetizers & different Ramen, but the creamy vegan is where it's at for me.

Pros: - Wide but straightforward menu - I got the house ramen ($17), and we also go thte umami brussel sprouts ($9) and I got a fuzzy navel drink ($8). - Solid taste and broth - I liked that the house ramen broth was light but flavorful (I did "mild" spicy just for the flavor and it was perfect), the brussel sprouts were a tasty app, and the fuzzy navel drink was actually very tasty! A little treat. I was also tempted to get a dessert but sadly the budget did not allow haha. I didn't regret any of our choices - SUPER fast service. The ramen came out basically like within minutes of us finishing ordering. - I like that they give you a water pitcher for you to use the rest of your meal, so you don't have to keep flagging down the wait staff for water refills. - Cute decor- little lamps on the table. - Was not crowded at all around 11am opening time, and easy parking right outside in the lot. - I saw them accommodate a 6 person party pretty well, but most of the tables are 4-6 people or less. - The wait staff was super efficient and nice. - I like that the ramen comes with a lot of veggies, and although the portions are on the "smaller" side, I don't mind that since I have a tendency to over-eat. Cons: - in the beginning when there weren't many other parties in the restaurant, I felt like me and my friend's voices were super loud and echo-y (given we're both loud yappers lol) so I think it would have been nice if there was some background music playing. But not too big of a deal. - I could see some people feeling like the price doesn't justify the size of the portions of noodles/meat, but I didn't mind.

The music is great and really sets the mood, giving the place those fun Japan izakaya vibes. There's a solid variety of meat and vegetable skewers, along with plenty of sides and a good selection of drinks. My personal favorites are the beef tongue and chicken cartilage skewers. The grilled squid is also delicious and a fun item to order. Everything comes out pretty quickly, and the food is consistently enjoyable. The staff are friendly, too. One thing to keep in mind is that the bill can add up pretty quickly. With so many tempting skewers and a fun atmosphere, it's easy to lose track of how much you've ordered. But I think it's worth it for a good night out with food, drinks, and conversation. My only minor critique is that I wish the skewers had a little more of that smoky, chargrilled flavor. I'd love to see some of the meats spend just a bit longer on the grill to develop a deeper char. It's a small nitpick, though, and doesn't take away too much from the overall experience. Overall, this is a great place to hang out, enjoy some Japanese-style grilled skewers, and unwind after a long day. Definitely worth checking out, and I'll be back.

Ha! I came to Enka AGAIN! This time, I treated another friend to dinner. This was her first time…read morehaving Izakaya, so it was extra fun to experience it all through her excited, first-time eyes. Spoiler alert: She LOVED it! I made reservations for a Friday night at 6 pm. It was pretty empty when I arrived, but by the time we left, it was packed. We were seated in a booth at the back of the restaurant. It was very dark back there, but that didn't take away from our experience. My friend tried the house-made ginger ale, and she couldn't stop raving about it. She especially loved eating the whole slices of ginger at the bottom of her cup. I tried a sip and agreed it was refreshing. Since this was my friend's first time at a Japanese Izakaya, I ordered an assortment of dishes for us to share. Okay, I HAVE to tell you about the garlic edamame. It was one of the stars of the night. It wasn't just covered in chunks of garlic, like I've had at other restaurants. It was charred over the flame, so it had a salty, garlicky, and smoky flavor. DELICIOUS! We also got the Grilled Mochi. That was another hit. The chewy squares of mochi were covered in their special Enka sauce & served on crispy nori. Yum! We only ordered one item from their special menu that night. Their Garlic Fries were perfectly light, airy, and crispy. My friend said she had never had anything truffle-flavored before. I was surprised that my least favorite dish of the night was the salmon sashimi, as sake is my usual favorite. For some reason, the pieces we had weren't tender and melt-in-your-mouth. The Wagyu Steak Yakitori was super flavorful and tender. That was another great bite from the grill. We both loved the Grilled Salmon Belly w/Salt. It was flaky, juicy, and fatty. The Unagi Don was really good flavor-wise. It was interesting that the egg wasn't a wet scramble, but strips of cooked scrambled eggs. It was served with some pickled veg, which added a nice acidic crunch. We tried the Chicken Thigh Yakitori w/Enka Sauce. Again, such a simple ingredient, but it packed a ton of juicy flavor. The last savory dish was the Assorted Tempura. My friend doesn't usually eat a lot of fried food (I know, what's wrong with her?). hee hee But even she enjoyed the light and crispy shrimp and veggies. For dessert, I tried a scoop of their Yuzu Sorbet, and my friend tried their Green Tea Ice Cream. The food at Enka was great! My friend had a blast trying so many new things, and I enjoyed all of the tasty bites. Enka is definitely one of my new go-to favorites.

We liked their sister restaurant a little more, but since we live in Mountain View, we'll be coming back whenever we're craving ramen. We ordered the Spicy Tantan and Chicken Paitan Deluxe. Our server recommended medium spice and I'm so glad we listened! It was spicy enough for us, and we actually love spicy food. I don't think we could've handled the spicy level One thing I didn't love about the Chicken Paitan Deluxe was that it only came with chicken on the side.
