I had just hiked Mission Peak and all I wanted was something super warm in my tummy as it was super cold inside the Eat Up area of 99 Ranch. In short, wait time was atrocious, but that tonkatsu pork was so juicy and curry flavorful that maybe I'd pre-order if I were to come back again. L O C A T I O N Demiya is located in the Eat Up food court area in 99 Ranch off of Mission Blvd. in what use to be the easiest accessible Ross before it was turned into a 99 Ranch. Parking is a madhouse during peak eating times. Just beware. I N S I D E It's a food court. You can easily see this place as you enter. It's one of a few you see from the entrance in the center stalls to the right. There's a kiosk where you order your food then to the right, you get to pick up the food. There are a bunch of seats and tables in the front as well as bar seating I believe, but there's also a lot of seating all over the food courts so you don't have to sit immediately in front of the Demiya food stall. M E N U They specialize in curry but don't expect this to come with chunks of veggies. This is a smooth curry. The kiosk was fairly easy to maneuver to order what I wanted which was a pork cutlet (tonkatsu) with curry rice. The tonkatsu was super crisp and delectable and just had the best fat to meat ratio. The curry though very flavorful, I just really wished there were chunks of veggies that go along like a potato or carrots. I'm sure you can add it to the dish but ugh. Rice was plentiful and well cooked. S E R V I C E Upon ordering you get a number. I easily paid by card at the kiosk. There was only 1 other person who ordered before me so I thought this shouldn't take too long. It took almost 20-25 minutes. It was kind of ridiculous. O V E R A L L I would have rated this place at least a Good but the wait time was so excruciating. I would definitely go back for the curry maybe add some extras to it. But yeah, next time I'd order ahead and try other menu items. Perhaps it'll be a better experience in the future and of course I'd update my review then.

Amazing Japanese curry spot conveniently located inside a 99 Ranch Food Court! I got the Tonkatsu Curry Rice. The Curry is very rich and thick, with a consistency like stew. It has both sweet and savory notes. I requested spicy level 1, which gave a warm tingle. It goes so well with rice, I couldn't stop eating it! The Tonkatsu is a fried pork cutlet with a golden, crispy exterior and tender interior. I also added Takoyaki on the side. 3 little balls of yummy goodness, filled with octopus and veggies. Drizzled with a savory sauce on top. Tonkatsu Donburi Rice is similar, but topped with egg, mushrooms, onions, green onions, and dashi sauce. It is lighter and slightly creamy, loaded with many ingredients. I like that both dishes had their sauces in separate containers for to go orders, so the Tonkatsu wouldn't get soggy. Conveniently located inside 99 Ranch, you can get your meal and shopping done together in one place. Quick service in a casual environment. We ordered online and everything was ready upon pickup. Plenty of seating for dine in too. Will be back when I'm craving Japanese curry!

The Fremont location is really good. The katsu came out super crispy and delicious. The rice was cooked well and the udon was just enough. The portions looked sizable but ended up being a lot of food. It is a bit pricy for lunch, $20/dish with add ons. This stall is inside a grocery store but the noise level wasn't that loud. It took a long time to get the food, so only go for lunch if you don't have any more meetings for the day. Food is ordered thru a kiosk and there's only a cook so every things is self serve.

Went in to see the food court for EAT UP in Ranch 99 in Fremont. It was great to see different varieties of Asian cuisine and bakery. Finally found my stop here at Demiya Japanese cuisine on the go or dine in. I ordered the combo with the chicken katsu, steam rice, cabbage slaw salad and ebi(shrimp). You can ask for the pickled radish and the tonkatsu sauce hit different it was not as sweet but more peppery and I loved it! The salad was crispy and dressing was lite. The chicken katsu was juicy and crispy. I loved dipping it in the sauce they should make a bottle to sell. All payments and order through a self service kiosk no cash and menu is shown through Polaroids near the self service kiosk where you can also review the dishes to order. Great delight of yummy and delicious Japanese dishes for anyone who comes in the food court!

Tonkatsu Curry Rice, the pork cut

I'm so glad that a Demiya opened up in 99 Ranch nearby my house. I love the other location's curry and decided to take one to go! They have dine in options in the food court with some bar chairs at the wall across from the store. You order from a kiosk next to the counter and get texted for your order when it's ready. I got the Tonkatsu curry rice and i loved how perfectly crispy the cuts were!! The curry itself was really tasty and I got Level 3 (out of 3), the spiciest and it had a little kick. (I'm good with my spice so I preferred more spicy) One downside was the pork cuts having a lot of fat content. A lot of pieces had mostly fat. Not sure if it was just the meal I got of if it's like that all the time. Would prefer more lean meat than fat or it feels pretty greasy. I'd come back to try more of their options, like the other curries, the curry udon, or coquettes!

Food court store front in 99Ranch

It's a food court restaurant inside 99Ranch Grocery Store. Service can be improved... ordering via standalone self serve tablet screen. Quite easy to do order & paid via CC. As for pickup, the two workers are always having their back turned from customers and facing cooking equipment. I suggest to them that they need a mirror or camera to view the store front so customers like me don't have to wait 5-10 minutes before picking up my to-go meal. Menu has many appetizing choices including special ones that costs about $10. Tonkatsu with curry sauce was my order. Surprisingly, very good. The crust on this pork chop is very crunchy without being heavy in batter. And the pork chop is moist & tasty! Tastes above its grade; more like restaurant food than food court food. At $15.50, it's a bargain! Of course, they can improve on some condiments like pickle cucumbers and some veggies, which are missing. It's a 4.5 stars experience. Will round it up to 5 Will be back to try other dishes.

Heard there was a new location out here so had to try it with some friends recently. Glad to see I wasn't disappointed. This location is located inside Ranch 99 on the left side. This is more of like a togo location ad there is very limited seating room if its a busy day. Luckily we lucked out and were able to get some seats behind where you order. Our order took a little extra than it normally would and the dude cooking recognized that by giving us an extra helping of Chicken Katsu which we graciously accepted. But yea overall this place taste just like the other locations. Happy to see that the quality of service is still 5 stars despite not being a traditional sit down location.

Super happy demiya open in fremont, but is true that this isn't as good as the one in san jose. On one hand is expected as it is inside a ranch 99 food court, on the other hand the price isn't cheap either. They key difference I see is the katie is always a bit "darker", which mean either the oil use isn't as fresh or they over fried it. The food still tastes good. When I ask for the brown sauce for the katsu, the guy said they charge $1 extra, but he did gave it to me for free at the end. I would think katsu should come with brown sauce, even if it is a curry udon. I don't know does ranch 99 food court rent charges a lot or what, but I feel like some of these extra charges is a bit much for food court. After trying the brown sauce, I sorta get it, as it is not your run of the mill bulldog sauce, taste better and look made in house, I get it if it is extra if you want more, but at least come with a single portion.

I will say that I went with the expectation of it being a sit down restaurant but it's not. It's in a food hall of 99 Ranch, which isn't a problem. However, it was very self service with just two workers who often have their back turned so we would have to wait for them to turn a bit to catch their attention. Even resetting my expectations, the food was just not great. We ordered the beef shabu curry rice which didn't have much meat. Fortunately, we figured that might be the case so ordered the pork katsu on the side, but that did not taste right. It was rubbery? Potentially was frozen. We also ordered the chicken katsu curry rice which also did not taste that great. The chicken was super dry and over fried which also made us think probably frozen. I enjoyed the potato croquette because I love potato and cheese and fried food but my partner commented that it lacked salt/flavor and was more fatty tasting than anything. It also sucked that you had to pay for add ons like a small container of pickled radish for $1.

Demiya opens where Kokolo Donburi was. Same counter. No decor. Change of name. Menu has only curry related eats now. Similar seating. Offerings: a la carte, noodles/rice, Teishaku (no curry), toppings, curry rice/udon, daria, onigiri.. Ordered at counter. Pd. Food ready in 10ish min. Bites: Buta Shabu Curry Rice (thinly sliced pork, 15.50) pickles +1 -similar taste to Tonkatsu without the breading & associated calories. Short grain rice & curry the same. -rice perfectly made, firm, fresh, warm, not sticky. -curry warm, semi-spicy curry-wise, no chiliness. -thin cooked pork just right, not overcooked, tender & moist. Just mix with rice & curry. yum! -pickles added a nice tanginess. 4.5 stars leftovers traveled well.

The food wasn't that hot but that's maybe bc we came maybe like 40 mins before closing. The food wasn't that bad but I wish the portion size was a little bit more for that being the price. The workers were nice when we were given the food at the counter.

Was honestly super impressed with this spot, located in the Fremont Ranch 99 food court! I had heard of their other locations but have never been, and I feel like you never know with food court places sometimes. This one pleasantly surprised us though! My boyfriend and I ordered the tonkatsu curry over rice to share, with a +1 spice level. We weren't very hungry, hence why we shared, but these portions would definitely be individual sized in a normal meal for us. The tonkatsu was tender and juicy, able to be cut through with just a spoon! The breading was crispy and fresh, honestly a textbook tonkatsu cutlet. The curry spice level was perfect with a kick without being overpowering, and I think the overall ratio of curry to rice was good as well. I really have no notes for this food -- just a simple, delicious, no-frills comfort meal in my comfort grocery store :) Shoutout to the server working as well -- he was super patient and knowledgeable in answering all of our questions and gave recommendations too!

I'm so excited to have an epic curry place so close to us!! Deimya just opened in ranch 99 fremont food court! We came on the first day and waited in line for curry the flavors were amazing!!! The katsu was crispy and nice and thick. It was absolutely perfect. The only thing is that you have to pay for your pickles! but whatever I still love them !

I've had Japanese curry in Japan as well as around the SF bay area and I would say the japanese curry here is average at best. The texture is a little lumpy to be honest and there isn't a tremendous amount of curry flavor. Today, we ordered a couple of items off the special menu - Kaki Curry (oysters) and Shiso Mentaiko Cream Spaghetti. The Kaki Curry came with six fried oysters, some rice, potato salad, and a dab of sauce for the fried oysters. The fried oysters were fresh and crunchy. Overall, it was satisfying but nothing spectacular. The Shiso Mentaiko Cream Spaghetti is a cream sauce based pasta dish with roe, shiso leaves, and nori seaweed. It's an interesting twist to your popular spaghetti dish so the flavor profiles were interesting. The dish was creamy and the nori and roe brought some unami flavor. Between the two dishes, I enjoyed this one slightly more even those this place is a "curry" spot. Dish comes with a japanese cabbage salad and miso soup which tasted pretty standard.

My other friend for a pork don with a spicy miso ramen, and I got the gyu-don with a spicy miso ramen. The food was very delicious - everything was cooked well, perfectly flavored. I like the rice plates as they come with a tiny bowl of ramen of your choice :) Overall, we would definitely come back again as we thoroughly enjoyed the dining experience!

It was kind of difficult already with my husbands crutches. A wheelchair could be possible if they sit you at the very front entrance. We wanted to go because they have napolitan and we were very happy that we went. The staff were nice. They keep to themselves and check in on you just enough. There's anime on the shelves if you want to read and relax. Love that they had a warning that some of them may not be suitable for kids. They don't split bills, so heads up if you're going with multiple people. Our boys really liked their curry and katsu. They were able to make it not really spicy and it was just right for them. Napolitan was so good. The serving size was just right. At first I thought it might be too big, but because it was so good, I scarfed that thing down. This will definitely be our spot to go back to when we're in Japantown.

This was one of those places that I always passed and would think to myself "I need to stop there one of these days." Well I finally did and it was quite good. The curry I got would have been the perfect level of spice for my wife, who's fully white, but next time I think I'll go up a level or two. It was still good and full of great flavor, but I expected a bit more from the level of spiciness I got. The young guy that was helping me was very nice and attentive. There was this person visiting someone who worked there, I think she was a nurse who worked nearby, who was chatting with her friend (the other server) at such a volume I wonder if the nurse lady knew that inside voices were even an option. That was a little distracting but I don't blame my server for that. I don't care if employees at places want to chat, that's fine. Just be aware of the volume. Overall I'm very glad I went here and the food was delicious.
