Good pho, pleasant enough wait stuff and decent prices.

Yet another Asian restaurant in Brunswick, but yet another hit by the same owner of Little Tokyo just down the street. We have not heard great things about the other asian-inspired restaurants in the area but we had to try this one after hearing rave reviews from friends during their opening week. The atmosphere is simple and elegant, allowing for a comfortable dining experience. The restaurant is small, but the size gives it charm, and there is still a bar counter in the back. The food itself was fresh, delicious, and has us going back for more. I recommend the pho, rice crepes, baby lotus root salad, and the house bun. For those who are less adventurous, their pad thai and fried rice looked pretty good as well. I have eaten in and ordered take out and both times I was very satisfied...will definitely be on my list of regular restaurants when I am in the area! read more

My second time ordering takeout- and second time entirely pleased. The first time, I had Pad Thai and spring rolls. Excellent. Tonight, chicken Pho. This will be a regular dish for me through the winter months- so delish! I was worried about ordering that type of dish to go, but it was SO good! Sprouts, lime and jalapeño were packed in a ziplock (I asked for some spice) and the veggies and rice noodles were packed separately from the broth. I was able to put it together at home to be every bit as good as if I'd eaten in. Generous portion for a very reasonable price- I couldn't have made my meal for as little I paid for it. The staff were excellent (again) and cautious about my gluten allergy. I'm so glad I fell upon this place. read more

Upon arriving here I was very pleased with the restaurant itself. Very cute and small and not super cheesy like most oriental restaurants are with their decor. After sitting down it all went downhill from there. My boyfriend and I were both craving pad thai and he had been here previously and said that the pho was delicious!! So we were in the area and decided to give it a shot. Completely disappointed. Very little flavor if any. We only ordered water for drinks and after working all day we finished the glass in just a few minutes. The waitress did not come back until our food was served, nor did we see her anywhere in the restaurant. We were the only ones seated in there, so we should have had phenomenal service. After the food came, she never came and checked on us to see how the food tasted or if we needed anything. We were just finishing up lunch, when I'm assuming the family's 18 year old son showed up. He started arguing in the back with his family about working there and how he wanted to work at other places for experience. Super loud and completely interrupted the lunch and got us out of there faster than we had wished. I love supporting locally owned and family ran businesses but it is hard to support a business when family drama is brought into the place of establishment and is able to be heard by customers. So for the past couple of years I have worked in the area on and off and being from San Diego in a HUGE Pho fan! Pho quality is pretty good, not the best I've ever had but definitely best I've found in Maine I will drive out of my way to get some! Last weekend my husband and I came by to eat in the patio (a 40 min drive for us) they refused us even though all other patios were open but we were fine and moved up the street to another restaurant and had lunch. The following weekend (today) we drove out to pick up pho for dinner, I asked her to please give us extra hoisen, siracha, and sesame and I'd gladly pay. We sat on the patio and eventually she called to us for our food which was about $34 and I tipped her $10 knowing Covid has been rough on small business and being happy to pick up one of my favorite meals. About 7 minutes towards home I realize we didn't get any of our sauces, we turned around and I went back to the door explaining that I didn't get the three sauces I asked for, she returned with a small packet of hoisen and a small packet of siracha, I asked if I could please have the sesame oil and more of the sauces since we order two meals and 3 apps. She replies no. I'm like well I'd really like the sauces that come with every pho dish on the table she yells to me that's extra and I replied I already said I'd pay for the sauces. She brings out ONE extra hoisen packet, extra siracha packet, and says no I can't give you sesame or fish oil and that's $5. In reality am I irritated over $5... no, But it's just so unfortunate that they have relatively good Vietnamese for our area and TERRIBLE service. Every time i have been there which is maybe 15 times the service is awful. read more

What a strange mixed bag! Ordered fresh Spring Rolls, Egg Rolls and Grilled Calimari to start. All were great, especially the Calimari. Ordered Bun and Pho as main course. Bun was very tasty, but the Pho is the worst I've had in a long time. The broth was nearly flavorless. Despite the other food being good I have given 2 stars because if a Vietnamese restaurant can't get Pho right then they don't deserve more. read more

Sunday night on May 5th I decided to dine at Little Saigon on Maine St in Brunswick. This Vietnamese restaurant had been suggested to me by my english teacher and praised for their dumplings by my friends. As I pulled up in the car to Little Saigon I had no idea that it's dull colored, small complex would contain such quality service, food, and atmosphere. When I entered the restaurant I was greeted by a young, very kind oriental woman who told me we could sit wherever we wanted. My aunt and I chose the window seats so we could people-watch out the window while enjoying our meal. The service, was some of the fastest I've ever had at such a small restaurant and the food was just as impressive. I choose the Large Pho Noodle Soup with Rare Beef and was interested in how the beef would taste with the familiar broth and noodle mixture. As our waitress carried out our food I could tell I was going to be impressed. The massive white bowl was placed in front of me steaming hot so I had to wait in torture as I inhaled the sweet aroma waiting for it to cool off. Once the consuming began, I could not be more impressed. The Sriracha sauce and beef cooking in the broth helped flavor the whole meal to a perfect sensation. The herbs added along with small cuts of basil leaves perfectly toned the spice to an enjoyable and tasteful level. The best part was that the portion was so big I had to take about one third to go for later. I could savor the rest for a midnight snack later that night. Upon receiving the check, the manager made sure to stop by and ask if the service was to our level of enjoyment (a pleasure many customers don't experience at even esteemed restaraunts). I would give Little Saigon a 9.5/10 for the food and services. I couldn't be more impressed by the kindness, commitment, prices, and atmosphere the staff brought to my dinner experience. I don't like this restaurant. The evening we were there it was loud and very warm. The AC was broken. The food is only fair. It is part of a chain of other fair restaurants in the area. The food is only okay. Many better choices in the area. The atmosphere is poor- big TV screens everywhere. Distracting and loud. read more

The food is good, but the service is terrible. I was hosting an event, and we had to call five times to confirm catering. After this, they forgot about our order until we came to pick it up an hour before our event started. It was frankly unprofessional and very disappointing. read more

We loved the food so much, we've been back a few more times. The meats are so tender whether it's a noodle bowl, or a plated dish. The food is always more plentiful than you expect. Order the hot tea! The only negative aspect was the cramped quarters, especially with our daughter in a high chair. read more

Excellent! Visiting Brunswick. Had no idea what to expect. This is some of the best Vietnamese food I've had!!!! Grilled calamari is excellent. As are the lotus root salad, seafood mien and seafood bun. Wish I lived here so I could come back. read more

Get the pho! It's perfect for a cold night. I always get the veggie pho and it's full of flavor and an enormous portion. I think that you can get a smaller portion but for some reason I always seem to forget this. My son has tried both the veggie egg noodle soup and the chicken rice plate. My husband has gotten a variety of things, all of which he has enjoyed. It's a small place that fills up quickly on the weekend nights. The service is always friendly and quick. This is a great spot if you are in the Brunswick area and looking for some tasty Vietnamese food! read more

Small cozy atmosphere inside, good service, we ordered rice paper rolls that were large in size and tasty. The Bun dish mytv wife got was good. I ordered pad Thai which was also very good. I stumbled across this place one day while in Brunswick, and being a nice sunny day, I ate on their "patio". I got the seafood fried rice and it was awesome, very flavorful, a nice smokiness to the rice, and everything very fresh. At the front door, waitress walked back and forth in front of me two dozen times without saying a thing while waiting seemingly forever with vacant tables in sight. This place started out promising with cha gio that were made with actual rice paper wrappers and overall they were ok...a little thick and a little too much filling but tasty. The pho was a little bland but then I like more marrow in my pho. But the service is a bit slow and when I ask for a iced coffee was told they couldn't make it because they were " too busy"... fair enough it was pretty packed but towards the end of my meal I asked again since it had emptied out I asked again and was told nope... Stopped in for take out on a Sunday night. Place was busy. They directed me to a bar adjacent to the kitchen. Waitress staff was very busy I think one of the owners came out to help me. They were all very friendly though. Had a sing Tao at the bar while I waited for my order. Got an appetizer sampler with some sort of rice pancake and meatballs and something I could not recognized but it was good and some kind of BBQ marinated shrimp on a bed of pickled marinated vegetables all very good. I got fresh spring rolls which were excellent one of my favorite things in the world. A very good pad thai for my wife. And for me I had pho which was also very good I got to watch the kitchen work which was a treat and watch the owner jump in and help cook. And I think if we had an eaten the food there it would have been even better. We will definitely be back, the inside was cozy very nice. Maybe we won't have to drive all the way to Portland for pho. read more

Hubby and I went there two weeks ago and were surprised by the small size of the seating area, like a small living room. We wanted to sit by the windows in front, and even though very few people were there, the waitress directed us to a small crowded table along the wall. We pushed back and sat in front. Maybe that got us off to a bad start, but the service was not friendly. We each ordered pad thai and it was rather skimpy on the portion size. The tea is EXTRA, something like $2.00, and should be included with their entrees, which is the case in most Asian restaurants. We left a 15% tip, but could have left less, given the skimpy, pricey entree, high charge for one cup of tea (no refills), and surly service. We won't be back. read more

I was in this part of the state to visit a friend house sitting in a near by town...This place is small and cozy, conveniently located. We ordered the fried spring rolls and the fresh spring rolls and also the Calamari...For the main dish we split a large Beef Pho. Which is the very basic dish of this type of food. The appetizers were tremendous, the fried rolls were as good as anywhere I have experienced in the world...The fresh spring rolls were also very good, and the Calamari was grilled not battered and tremendous!!! But then the Pho showed up and we were flabbergasted!!! The soup had no flavor that I could detect, the meat was so tough that I nearly didn't even eat them!!! Even after putting some lime and Hoisin sauce, the soup was DOA!!! I will have to come back the next time I pass through this area, but the differential of quality between the main dish and the appetizers was just incomprehensible!!! read more

So I've been here twice. The first time I went with my boyfriend and the food was okay. My boyfriend really enjoyed his barbecue chicken bun, while I did not enjoy my noodle dish. There was a lot of cilantro (which I don't like) so I thought maybe that just wasn't the dish for me. The next time around, at my boyfriend's request, I decided to try a some tofu bun, sense my boyfriend said the bun was so good. I specifically asked for NO cilantro because it ruined my last dish. When I received my dish, the waitress set the plate down and ensured there was no cilantro. When I began eating, the entire dish was filled with cilantro, which made it entirely impossible to take a bite without getting a mouthful. I had to pick the cilantro out, and I lined it up on the edge of my dish, and the waitress walked by, noticed the cilantro on the side of my dish, but did not confront me about it. She completely ignored us. On a good note, the Vietnamese coffee is excellent! read more

Delicious food! We enjoyed papaya salad with shrimp, pork crepes, House Bun and brisket Pho. Such fresh and tasty flavors on everything. Very fast and friendly service. Took many leftovers home as well- a whole meal awaits us tomorrow. Can't wait! read more
