We were craving Mexican food on our first night in town and had heard good things about Little Angie's (and it was near our hotel). Unfortunately, we were disappointed in most of our experience. The service was slow, the food was pretty bland, the beans were mushy and inedible, and we were surprised we had to pay for chips and salsa and they weren't complimentary like most other Mexican places. They were also out of most of the beverages we tried to order. Overall just a disappointing start to our getaway. So unfortunately this place was not good. We came after Grandma's because it was close and had open spots. That probably should have been our red flag... They only offered a breakfast menu before 10am, and that menu had very little selection. Once the food came out, it was like food you'd get at a hotel continental breakfast except it cost as much as a high quality meal! I only got potatoes and sausage (and coffee) and it cost me $25. The coffee also wasn't very good, and they didn't have half and half for it (just the little plastic cups which to me doesn't count). The staff were so so kind and excellent but oof. Having the pineapple jalapeño marg right now, may eat depending on what sounds good for a light bite. Bartenders are super friendly, refreshing to say the least! Group of college students who had a wonderful time at Little Angie's! Po, our server and also the bar manager, was serving and bartending while being short staffed! He gave us great deals: free chips and salsa for college students as well as half off all margaritas after 9pm! Went down out a Saturday with my family. We were able to get in right away with 5 which I was surprised. For starters this is probably the only Mexican restaurant that makes you buy chips and salsa. And they are probably the worst in the area as Tostitos are better. Next Mexican food is usually pretty fast - nope it took forever to get our food. My rice was like warm. I would say the food was OK but no where near the $160 price. Other than location I will steer clear as we have so many other better options for Mexican. read more

Honestly, this place has horrible food. When our waitress walked out with our fajitas we both laughed bc there were 6 slices of steak and the veggies were still raw. The tortillas were cold and the guac was brown, the beans and rice were definitely from a box or can and the lettuce tastes a little chemically. HOWEVER, if you get the right bartender, the margaritas are fantastic. (Which is what I'd usually go there for anyways) AND the waitresses are super attentive and friendly. Food was Sysco ah' la king - no seasoning, minimal prep. Cold tortillas and that good ole' canned taste o' beans. Not even rinsed. Small portions that cost around $20 per plate. Oh! I had to grab share plates for apps from the poor hostsess' again. Many empty tables and good staffing quality. What's going on? What a night. I seldom complain, but wow. Look at my rap! I am embarrassed of this place. Wasted potential. Gross food, poor staff and HIGH prices. Not my preferred combo! An eclectic combo of kitchen negligence and front of house failure. Lack of care. Why??? Oh- and my hubby had to get his second drink from the bar... no service. Help! Owners- step in. 7/20/23. I am in the industry and understand tourism and rushes, so take this criticism as help. Ordered an enchilada and asked for cheese instead of chicken they legitimately served me a rolled up tortilla with nothing on the inside and shredded cheese on top. After lots of walking and enjoying the views around Lake Superior I needed a cold beer and some food. The patio was in operation at Little Angie's so sauntered over. The waitress was very pleasant and provided excellent service. I ordered a beer and the shrimp tacos. The place was hopping but the food was delivered to my table by a masked man in a timely manner. They even kept refilling my dog's water bowl and gave him a treat. I enjoyed my meal, the service was great and the beer was cold. We ate here whole visiting canal park. We where sat quickly and our order was taken fast. The salsa was the best thing we got on the menu. Everything else didn't have much taste and almost felt like we ate off of a American menu not Mexican. They have a nice tequila menu to try different tequilas. Used to be our favorite restaurant when we started visiting Duluth. I ordered a Mango Arnold Palmer and it had zero flavor with no alcohol or even taste of it detected. Nachos were a pile of chips with beans and chicken. It had a decent flavor but with a scoop of sour cream and a scoop of pico de gallo, it was still very dry. With the added charges of 10.00 for food and beverage tax, our one drink and one plate with an appetizer, our bill was 70.00 for lunch! Our waitress was efficient and friendly was the only plus today. So sorry to say we will not be returning. read more

Oh how I wanted to love this place..... Sat down with some hungry kids and zero chips and salsa. Asked 3 different people for them and 20 minutes in, drinks ordered and good ordered and still no chips and salsa. When taking our order the poor server didn't know any answers.... Can I sub zucchini "not sure" Can I order just grilled chicken and rice "not sure" Can we have chips and salsa..... hard no because we never got them Far too many amazing places to suffer here. Have been staying in Crosslake since Friday. Decided to ride up to Duluth to see Lake Superior. We order med the bottomless chips and salsa, wife ordered the small Cobb salad, daughter ordered the little Angie's taco with rice and beans. I ordered the beef chimichanga. We had blood orange margaritas and frozen strawberry margarita. The beef chimichanga was outstanding, probably the best I've ever had. They forgot my wife's guacamole on her Cobb salad but got it out pretty quickly. The chips and salsa were great but be aware they aren't like normal chips and salsa, they are more like chips and pico de gallo (excellent flavor) The blood orange was great but the frozen strawberry not so much. Decent Mexican food! We had to wait awhile for our order to be taken/get drinks etc. but they were busy. Our waiter was such a nice guy, we really liked him. My friend got the chicken enchiladas and she said they were good. I got the taco salad and I really liked it! Good stuff. I jut want to say how bad and discriminatory this place is. On Saturday afternoon 10/12/24 my wife, my self and our 13 year old daughter went to grab something to eat at Little Angie Cantinas . We checked in with the host lady, we asked for table for 3. At that time there was nobody at the check in desk,. She told us to step on side and when they ready some one will take us to a table. We did what she told us to do. 3 minutes later place started getting pack. There was this couple that ask for table and the host walked then right away to a table. My wife and I just looked at each other, but we dint said anything. When she got back after sitting the couple that was there after us, there were another people waiting, the next people checked in and ask for table for 3, the host immediately grab the menus and walked them to a table, at that point we approached the host and asked what's going on, why if we were the first she was sitting other people that barely just walked in. She said nothing to us and started looking on the screen computer, after she was pretending to be doing something, she walked us up to a table, at this point We were mad already, because it was very ovious that because we were not WHITE and we are Hispanics , she completely discriminated us, we feel really bad and after we set we decided to leave. We consider to take a legal action so nobody has to go and feel the way they make us feel. We can't still believe what happened. T travel all over the country and other countries for business all year, and never ever had this issue and feel the way they make us feel this past weekend. I'll see all our legal options. read more
