When I first moved to Lubbock my first worry was that there wouldn't be a Mediterranean Restraunt and luckily, I was wrong! I have tried half the menu... their gyros taste fresh and are stuffed. I love their lentil soup on a colder day! The owners are very friendly and the food has been on point every time. read more

I just moved states, and man am I going to miss this place! Friendly service, nice little "bazaar style" feel, and delicious food! It's one of my favorite restaurants in Lubbock! The pocket pastries were my favorite little snack to pick up in between meals! read more

This restaurant is one I recommend any day of the week. Very nice owners, always care about costumer satisfaction over profit. The shawarma is great, would recommend the gyros sandwich. And the baklava is a great way to end a great meal. Fresh, delicious food. Fun atmosphere. read more

Spent $28 on an inedible dinner: falafel platter & a mezzo platter. The falafel came with undercooked rice and thin, dry pita. The falafels were overcooked in oil that needed to be changed. I took 1 bite of rice and 1 bite of falafel and threw the rest away. The mezzo platter had tabouleh, hummus, baba ganouj & 2 stuffed grape leaves. Most of that went in the garbage as well. read more

I've always gotten pretty good food here. The baclava tastes just like my Turkish friends make it. But I heard their lamb comes frozen from a former employee who is a friend of mine. And that person said it is shipped from Australia. That was kind of a turn off since there are sheep farmers in the United States. Shipping it that far doesn't seem like the most environmentally minded thing to do. read more

I love this place . No matter how long it's been since I have been this guy knows what I like to order. The place is clean the food is good . read more

Lite Bite - I love this stuff - Mediterranean Near Me - Lubbock, Texas

Uh, $4.99 for a little felafel....same for the gyro and the chicken shwarma? with a handful of corn tortilla chips and a pickle sliver? not even pita chips? agreed, tasty stuff at LB, but i've been spoiled by Mamoun's or Yatagan in Manhattan where one can get excellent doner or felafel (and a larger sandwich) for MUCH less $. and what's with that bank of microwave ovens in the kitchen/prep areas? Well, this is Lubbock, so expectations should be lowered. still, the place has wonderful aromas, the music is a nice touch, the owner/staff are friendly.... and the Persian rugs, cookware, and Middle Eastern groceries/spices for sale in the back of the place lend that bazaar atmosphere to LB. read more

I got the gyro which was really good! But it came with a side of nacho chips and a pickle which was...different lol not really Mediterranean. It's not the BEST Mediterranean food I've ever had but it does the trick. The hummus was mediocre...nothing special there. I definitely wouldn't get it again honestly. The Tuesday special was a kafta which wasn't that good. There was only one small kabob in it and way too much lettuce. Overall, it was pretty average. Obviously looking at the reviews the gyro is a big hit so if you're going, I'd recommend that! read more

Good Greek food in Lubbock? You better believe it. Falafel were really good, hummous tahini was freaking spectacular and the gyro was okay. I'll admit, it was a little dry and I would have liked more tzatziki and pita, but overall i was really happy to have found this place (or been directed there by friends of mine). The staff and owner were great and really friendly and the prices were good. Plus, true to Texas fashion, you could even get baklava made with pecans in addition to the more traditional pistachios. Opa y'all! read more

Just had lunch here. I ordered a lamb gyro and the cucumber yogurt salad. I agree about the soft, warm pita. It was quite full with big slices of lamb. The yogurt was AMAZING! So many spices that just tingled the tongue! It's a bit of a dive atmosphere with stark seating, murals on the wall, a little "shop" with candies not to mention the Persian rugs for sale in the back. I didn't take my lunch tog-go. As I sat and ate, the Greek music filling the space led my imagination to think I would step outside into an Athens market street. It was a pleasant experience. The cucumber yogurt salad is enough to share. I will definitely be bringing my husband here. read more

In love with this place now. You walk in and you feel like you're in the Mediterranean. They have a little shop area. The owner guy was nice and quick with my order that I had placed for pick up. Feel like it's pretty decent Greek food. Especially for Lubbock. My food was a little messy in my box but that was completely my fault as my bag went flying when I turned a corner driving home. The mezza plate is to be eaten together anyway so it didn't really matter. read more

Let start off first by saying the food is delicious! Definitely not what I would consider extraordinary but very tasty. I had the gyro sandwich. It was good. The line wasn't long and the wait for our food was less than 5 minutes. So they brought my gyro out and it looked a little lean on the gyro meat department. There was twice as much lettuce as there was meat, but thankfully my wife ordered the gyro dinner plate and offered up some of her gyro meat which filled out the sandwich nicely. I pulled about 60-70% of the lettuce off. The tzaziki sauce was delectable. It was more mint and dill based than onion based which I appreciated. There was some tortilla chips on the side which was interesting but tasty. Overall the food taste was great. I appreciated that the gyro meat was moist and tender, not tough and dry as I have experienced in some other restaurants. If you have an opportunity to stop by this joint for a quick lunch, I would definitely recommend it! The staff was friendly and courteous and the owner asked each person how their meal was before they walked out the door. For this fine establishment I rate it 4/5 stars for good food, good atmosphere, and good service. P.S.: Their pistachio baklava is to die for! Not too sweet, not too bland but just perfect. read more

I've been going here for years. Best gyros in town as far as I'm concerned! It always smells quite nice in the store as well. More people should know about this place honestly. read more

Always fresh and always good! Best Gyros in Lubbock!

God couldn't save the falafel from this place. Worst falafel I've ever had. I was high so it was kinda my fault for not paying attention. They were just sitting there on the counter top for god knows how long. The only reason I give 2 stars is because the selection of Mediterranean products are good quality, but the food made me gag. The falafel was an OLD dry sponge filled with grease. The grape leaf's with rice were so OLD, a dark brown/gray slime around one end, because they're old af. I feel bad for this review, but this makes Mediterranean food seem gross, over priced, and nasty. They need to learn how to throw old food away, and make FRESH FOOD. It's not complicated. read more

Passed by this place for the past 3 years and always wanted to try it. I can now check this off of my list. It's a mom-pop, humble-no-frill, Lebanese, gem on this side of Texas. I was telling the lady that I will be kicking myself for not coming to this establishment sooner. I eat large portions...So I ordered the chicken kebab and the gyro supreme sandwiches. The lady ordered the falafel sandwich. We split a baba ganoush appetizer. Everything we ordered, we ordered spicy :). The baba ganoush was so fresh tasting and flavorful...I only wished they'd had toasted the pita a bit more. The gyro supreme has moist, tender, not overly spiced lamb, beef, and chicken. The lettuce and tomatoes could have been more fresh. The yogurt sauce was surprisingly not too acidic! The chicken kebab was well seasoned and tender. YumYum. The lady said she had falafel before and hated it....after this visit, she is a reborn falafel fan! We left very satisfied. I could have done without the chicken kebab because the gyro was enough to get me full. The owner was very kind. The guy in front of us was strapped to a walker. The owner himself brought out the gentleman's food. It is clear that they care about their business and guests. According to the other reviews, this place has been around for 20 years....that's saying something! There's also a mini mart in the back. You can buy all sorts of stuff you could never find at a United, Market Street, or world market. Bulk ingredients, teas, cookies, preserved fruits, condiments, coffee, hookah supplies, tea and coffee sets. Boy-o-boy. Definitely worth coming back to look over the stuff provided. WE didn't have any baclava because we were so full. But they looked absolutely delicious. Definitely a place worth visiting for lunch. Definitely a place worth keeping in Lubbock! read more

First, I lament on the passing of Manara which put out more tasty food than Lite Bite and had a more up to date restaurant. Food reviewed include gyro, hummus, touboli (sorry about spelling), spinach pastries, and dolmas. All but the gyro was top notch. The gyro lacks flavor and no special sauce. It was weird to have a feta like cheese at the bottom of the gyro. That is not typical for there or any gyro. It really ruined the taste. The chairs are in terrible disrepair. The whole place needs a makeover. The owner is nice, and everyone else there is very pleasant. Parking is good. 50th st. seems to be having some retail issues. It's worth the drive to Lite Bite. read more

In Lubbock for work, I was delighted to find good affordable Greek fare. There are too few options for Mediterranean food in Texas in general. This was a 10 minute drive from the hotel, the ingredients were fresh, and the veggie pocket pie and dolmas were delicious. This is a go-to option for lunch or dinner. read more

The food here is old and cold. Can someone please explain to me why stale old tortilla chips are being served as a side at a Mediterranean restaurant? The falafel was a chewy grease ball and it looks like it's just been sitting out. Don't understand how this place is still in business. read more

Best gyro I've ever had! The gyro supreme (just adds onions I believe) is awesome. Their lemonade is unlike anything I've ever tasted.

Lite Bite Mediterranean Cafe in the old Buster Brown shoe store on 50th close to Indiana is one of my favorite places in town to eat. This place is an all good, a true local jewel. Proprietor Sam is a very friendly fellow and serves up great gyros and assorted other eastern Mediterranean yummies. My favorite is the super tasty leonardo calzone, gyro meat, tomato sauce, onions, etc. in a perfectly baked crust. They also have grocery items, including frozen artichoke bottoms that I use all the time. Great food, great people, great place! read more

Lite Bite is a Lubbock gem. I adore their gyros. Delicious, and the service is always fantastic. I just wish the location was a bit more kept- while clean it leaves much to be desired for atmosphere. But let's get real- atmosphere doesn't matter much when surrounded by lovely people and truly delicious food. I highly recommend Lite Bite! read more

We have eaten Mediterranean food all over the country. These were by far the best Gyros and Turkish coffee we have eaten and drunk. We stopped there on our way back home from a business trip to Colorado Springs. The restaurant was also clean and the staff was friendly. read more

Not sure how this place has 4 stars. Overall atmosphere is not clean and old. Plant by door is covered in dust and cob webs. Ordered a chicken gyro and steak gyro. Chicken seemed to be deli meat and steak was ground and not fresh. Toppings were basic and not fresh tomato and iceberg lettuce. Worst Greek food I have ever had. Will not be coming back. read more

If you haven't tried it, you're missing out. Falafel is delicious. Gyro was great and the baklava options include cashew and pistachio. They also have pizza. Highly recommend read more

Full Disclosure: It was only recently that I was disabused of the notion that Gyro was pronounced with a hard G, as in West Texas pronounced "Geee-ro" and is in fact pronounced "hero." Thus, the following review is obviously from a self-described amatuer and as a result I present no pretensions of being able to compare against Greek cuisine offered globally. That being said, so-called experts brought us to the brink of economic destruction with the Great Depression, the Great Recession, and failed to detect or act upon the problems with the levees in New Orleans leading up to Katrina. Sometimes, it is best to take advice from a novice. This unassuming Mediterranean (the business label seems to indicate Greek, but the Lebanese flags adorning the walls seems to indicate the owning family hails from a different Club Med locale) place on 50th street is something that I one would expect to stumble into in the crowded streets of NYC and with the tremendous and authentic feel and flavors that I suspect would allow them to prosper there if the owners were so inclined. In my inaugural trip to Lite Bite, I partook of the Gyro Supreme (correctly pronounced), and I was very pleasantly surprised to discover the taste implosion that lamb, pita, lettuce, and onions could deliver. The critical element in such a culinary experience seems to often come down to the spices and or sauces that one employs. In this case, the yogurt sauce ties this all together amazingly well. Part of me thinks that in a place like Lubbock, the "Lite Bite" moniker may do this place a disservice and indicate to the typical passer-by that lite is synonymous with lack of flavor. The beauty of the meal I had here is that it had just as much vibrant flavor as many a calorie and saturated laden meal that I have ever had, and this is coming from as big of a consumer of barbeque, pizza and hamburgers as anyone in this fair land. The one area I think they could improve upon is a wider range of offerings of sides that are tied to the sandwiches as combo meals. The Gyro came with an underwhelming complement of circle tortilla chips. Why not offer pita chips and hummus or some other authentic theme along with the gyro? Even if it cost another $2 I would pony up to have a bit of a larger portion and to deliver more taste diversity. read more

I have lived in Lubbock Texas my whole life & have drove by this cafe many times but never stopped to try it. I moved to California and tried a gyro for the first time and fell in love. So when I came back to Texas for Christmas I was set on eating at the cafe. Needless to say LITE BITE MEDITERRANEAN CAFE is one of the best places I have ever had a gyro from. If you're ever in Lubbock, Texas you definitely need to stop by here and grab a gyro supreme you will not be disappointed, satisfaction is an understatement. read more

Tried this place for lunch. Got salads, the gyro and the sampler platter. The food is overpriced (sampler platter, $10) and we did not enjoy anything we purchased. The salads were soggy and bitter, the baba and hummus tasted only of garlic (and the hummus had a sour taste - like sour cream or cream cheese), the pita was stale, the grapeleaves were from a jar, the tabbouli was soggy and the falaffel were dry and tasteless. The gyro tasted mostly of feta. Overall, the flavors were not balanced and i didn't enjoy the experience. read more

Ok, all should know I have never written a review but Lubbockites should know the existence of this great Mediterranean treat. I HAVE BEEN TO GREECE. So for all those needing a real Greek meal, this is fresh, AUTHENTIC Greek food and the owner of the joint is INCREDIBLY NICE and accommodating. Seeing how this is basically the only place left in lubbock to get this style of food, I'd have to say that it's good. However if you have been to a really good mediterranean place in DFW, Denver, Austin, etc. Then you will probably be pretty disappointed not only by the food but the portions to price ratio are nothing like you get at really good places. All and all the food is good but I was very let down when comparing it with other places I have been. read more

This place is great! I got the falafel and my fiancé got the gyro. The falafel was awesome and I got so full, lol. My fiancé said the gyro was really good as well. We also got the baba ghanoush as a starter, and that was so good. It was so full of flavour. We left with happy bellies! read more

Get the Gyro. It's wonderful. The yogurt sauce is good and they stuff the gyros with lettuce and onions (and tomatoes, I believe) so make sure you've got napkins. The Gyro is usually served with corn chips, which is okay, but I'd rather have something more "Greek." The desserts are good as well. If you eat here, be sure to check out the market side as well - there are beautiful Persian rugs in the back. You can also buy various goods from other Mediterranean cultures. It's very quick as well, so it's good for lunch during the week. The atmosphere is good, but it sometimes feels like the place needs to be cleaned a little more (so it feels like a dive) but it's good food, so check it out. read more
