An almost dizzying selection of wine, liquor and beer. I don't go to just buy a "handle" or something, or a 12-pak of watered down mega-beer. I like a selection and trying new and seemingly rare leaded goodies. Prices seemed fair, shelves were well stocked, everything was well kept. This place is Disneyland for alcoholics. For real. Especially for people coming from Oregon where liquor is taxed way too much and we have to pay 40$ for a bottle of whiskey instead of the 20-something that Californians get to pay. Since my family lives in CA, and me and my parents live in Oregon, we stop here when we drive down to see everybody and stock up. So, of course we look like definite alcoholics stopping in at 10 am and getting 100$ worth of bottles (so many, they grab us a box). For someone who doesn't drink (only if I find something I enjoy the taste of... which is basically nothing) this place has a lot of fun stuff to just look at. So many of the small "tester" bottles to get for only a buck each, lots of different beers. I found a certain kind of flavored vodka here that I really enjoyed (got three different kinds of the tiny bottles) called Kinky Pink and Kinky Blue. It's literally the best alcoholic thing I've ever had. So good with Orangina or regular orange juice. The one thing that was sort of lame to me was that they do not have mead. My partner is a picky one and only likes rum, some beers, and mead. I couldn't really find anything for him there. They do, however, have a lot of imported ales and such that sounded really great! And for a great deal, of course. The entirety of the place is always very clean, pretty professional, though located in a pretty sketchy parking lot where I've seen many a drug deal happen. So, lock your doors just in case! Their staff are pretty friendly and knowledgeable, and also professional in dealing with people, whether they are totally sober or have had too much to drink at 10 AM. Overall, great place to go when passing through Redding. Redding isn't good for much else, anyway. Lol. read more

They have a great selection of beer, but don't order a keg from them. I called Liquor Barn over a week in advance of needing the keg. My first phone call, I asked about two kegs, and the girl told me that she would call me back later about them. She seemed rushed, and bored with trying to help me. She never did call back, and I wasn't surprised. The next day (Wednesday), I called and ordered a keg from them. The girl had never heard of the beer that I wanted, but she told me that it would be available by the following Thursday (I needed it the following Saturday). Okay, great. I asked her, "should I follow up with you next week, to make sure that the keg is on its way?" She gave me a reply, in the tone that this was a stupid question, "umm... if you want to." Therefore, I was pretty confident that they would handle it. However, on Friday, the day that I needed the keg, I get a message from Liquor Barn that the keg is out of stock in the warehouse. Really? You're letting me know the DAY BEFORE I need it? I would have ordered it elsewhere, where it would have worked out. I'm giving them one star for their good beer selection. read more

If you're from out of state this is THE spot to stop to grab your alcohol purchases before heading over the boarder. Check prices elsewhere but you'll see, this spot rarely disappoints. Spirits, beer, bitters, mixers. You name it, they got it. Hard to find items? Often times they have that too! We always stop before heading home. Okay, an update for finding out that 'reserve' is different from 'regular', and that there was 'regular' around there somewhere. But I tried to track down a clerk, and finally got someone and asked them about Old Bushmills, and they didn't have any. So selection didn't meet specs, so I was just kind of unhappy in general. Also, I ended up stopping at the "Liquor Expo" near Yreka, and they had a super sale on Jaegermeister ($13) and that made my daughter happy, so that made me happy and some of their other stuff was definately cheaper than in Redding. Next time I go to Liquor Barn, I'll insist on more help, I guess. read more

Great experience with Liquor barn!! They were very helpful with our wedding day beverages I purchase 2 kegs and they were actually it going to be able to supply a Jocky Box but the manager was nice enough to use an out side source to get us a Jocky Box For our wedding and she wouldn't even take a tip cause she believe that it's her job to help out her customers and give great customer service!!! Myself and several coworkers frequent this place quite regularly and I love it. Great selection. GREAT selection. Big variety, hard to find beers and liquors. Maybe once I wasn't able to find something I was looking for, which I don't fault anyone exactly because I'm pretty sure they can order just about anything for you. Prices are about as good as you're going to get around here, the only place I think I've seen cheaper may be Trader Joe's, (who always surprises me on their alcohol prices) but with a fraction of the selection liquor barn has. Other than that, staff is cool, place is clean, stuff is organized, location is odd, but whatever, I'll still be a regular for a long time. read more

This place has an incredible section of beer and liquor. Great for anyone looking to find something new. However, I won't be coming back. I was very put off by the lady working the register. Came in after a long day on the lake to restock up on drinks to finish out the day with bbqing poolside. Our group was still in boardshorts and bikinis coming in from the lake, I threw my shirt on to go inside and grab everything. I got to the counter and the lady rudely requested everyone to come inside so she could I.D. the entire group. 2 people didn't have shirts and she wasn't shy to tell us that was a problem too. At this point we were done with her. We left, went 2 blocks down to Liquor King and didn't have any issues getting what we needed and saved a couple bucks too. read more

As the other reviews state, a great selection of beer, wine and liquor. Since BevMo has been in Redding, Liqour Barn's stock and selection has greatly improved. I enjoy shopping there. This last week I was disappointed though. I was searching for chilling stones or whiskey stones as they are sometimes called. I went to Liquor Barn first because I didn't want to shop at the big retailers during the holiday season. I believe in supporting local businesses. Well needless to say I ended up at a larger retail store instead. Once in Liquor Barn I couldn't find a soul to ask for help. I walked all over the store looking for the stones, no luck. So I decide to wait in line to ask one of the clerks. When I ask her I get a blank stare and she directs me to World Market. I ask her if she even knows what Chilling Stones are. Her reply, "No." and that they don't carry them. I couldn't believe she was telling me where to purchase an item that she knew nothing about. read more

My business goes to Liquor Barn. My husband went to the "other" large liquor chain in Redding and couldn't find what he needed. When he asked if they would order it, they told him No, they only carry what's on the shelf. I went to Liquor Barn on a Saturday and asked them if they would order what I needed. They ordered it, they called me and I picked it up that Monday. Their location isn't the greatest and the outside of the store isn't the nicest but they will forever have my business. read more

What a great place. We stopped by the first time on a whim and I was in awe of the size of the store and selection. I LOVE mini bottles and they had so many. My hubby got a mini crystal skull and I picked up a bottle of Koloa kaua'i dark rum. I liked the rum so much I e-mailed and asked for a case to be available on my next trip through. In redding this is as good as it gets. The staff are always helpful. For a craft beer drinker this is the only real game in town. They always have a large selection of brews both highly sought after and then the rest. Only place in town you'll be able to really find both Firestone Parabola and Alesmith speedway stout. HOWEVER! the stock-men drink all the REAL JEWELS before you can get to them! I saw cans of HEADY TOPPER there before I realized it was the most sought after IPA in america. beside maybe Pliny the younger. I exclaimed in a loud voice "hey! where did you guys hide the HEADY TOPPER!" "iT WAS RIGHT ABOUT HERE!" which of course it was nowhere to be found. I asked the hulk of a stocker about it and he disappeared for a while , came back out and shook his head" we don't even have that in the system" MY ASS!!! THAT'S BECAUSE YOU AND YOUR BUDDY DRANK IT ALL!!!! SO? iF there's a moral to this story it's you snooze at the barn and you'll never see HEADY TOPPER again. I took it in stride. This place is where it's at as far as beer in Redding goes, The staff are knowledgeable, helpful and in a couple cases, drop dead gorgeous. If they don't have what you need you can place an order. But that's rarely a problem as their selection is vast and constantly updated. 5 stars all the way. read more
