I'm genuinely bummed that I don't live in Redding to make visiting the Moseley Family Cellars tasting room a more frequent occurrence! The historic Thompson House is the perfect backdrop for wine tasting. The thing I love most about MFC is that it doesn't feel like a wine bar. It's got wine and a bar... but it feels like you're hanging out at your trendy friend's house. There's a living room area with fireplace, a dining room, a front porch with a cafe table & chairs, and big front lawn with Adirondack chairs in pairs & quads. Truly a choose your own pleasure! We couldn't pass up the perfect late spring afternoon, so I sunk into a deep Adirondack chair and enjoyed my wine tasting al fresco. The neon sign in the front window is the cutest, and just added to the overall vibe. Chuck was so hospitable, and brought me each pour from his post behind the bar inside. He gave insight into each wine, and then disappeared so I could enjoy at my own pace. MFC is very dog friendly, inside too, but I can't think of anywhere I've been in recent memory that was more perfect than wine tasting here on the front lawn with my pup in my lap. The BEST wine tasting I have had. I usually can pick two or three from a flight that I like, but it was so hard to pick because I really enjoyed all of them. We had to bring some home with us. They are located in downtown at the Thompson House and the owner is sooooo nice. It's clean and calm, perfect for a date night or evening with friends. I highly recommend this place. read more

What a great addition to downtown. We had a group wine tasting recently and we loved the relaxing in the living room. The staff is attentive and friendly, and the wines are very good. Can't wait to go back. read more

Edit review 9/13/2020 1 photo Excellent tasting Saturday. So glad they were able to reopen even if quite limited by Covid rules. The wine was superb. Took home a few bottles, among which was the truly outstanding 2015 Petite Sirah Gold Stripe. I would put this against any Petite Sirah anywhere; it is that good. Faith was managing the tasting room and she was very top rate and knowledgeable. Of course we are club members at Mosley, and we try and get to Mosley events and tastings when new wines are being introduced or when the stars are in alignment and we could use some good old fashioned friendly service, great wine and good company. Mosley Family Cellars offers it all. read more

We came here for a tasting and the wines were good! Josiah was really nice, attentive, and explained all the wines to us. The location is cute and intimate, we would come back read more

As a wine club member at Moseley, there are a lot of good things I can say. But I will start with the most important thing - how is the wine? It's great! Seriously, it's really good. I don't care for sweet wines - they have an excellent dessert wine but you will be hard pressed to find a sweet. Despite being on the drier side, these wines are balanced. So well balanced, these wines are award wining. I recommend the Everyday Rose - Cabernet Sauvignon. It's an easy drinking crowd pleaser - maybe a little to easy to drink haha COVID-19 Adjustments: They have done an amazing job adapting to the COVID-19 challenges. They list all the steps they are taking online, if you are interested. They have also introduced Friday night Picnic on the Lawn - social distancing, safe, and fun with live music. Buy wine by the glass or bottle and enjoy your Friday night out of the house. Bring the makings of a charcuterie board and you'll forget there is even a pandemic. read more

We visited this winery for the 1st time on our way to Shasta Lake. It's definitely a hidden gem! Jane, the server, was so pleasant and warm. She instantly made us feel welcomed. And the wine! The wine rivals those wineries in Napa and Sonoma! The gold label mouvedre was our favorite... the grenache was yummy too. And their sweet wines are divine also. AND the prices are VERY reasonable...on average around $30 a bottle...some closer to $25. Their gold label is a little more $ but totally worth it! The winemaker and owner Marty came and had some wine with us. So kind and hospitable! He had us taste some of the special reserve wines...delicious! Just a great host. All together a wonderful experience. So wonderful that we joined the wine club! read more

This location is no longer open. Only the new tasting room downtown is open. Seems like a lovely place but I was passing through on a Tuesday so missed them. Will try again next time. read more

What, an amazing winery in Redding? I recently drove up from Sonoma county to visit my family in Redding and they introduced me to this great winery. They have a large variety of wines available that are made from grapes sourced from my favorite locations. I'm a sucker for a good Oregon Pinot and the wine maker has done a great job at producing a few really great ones. Along with a bottle of Pinot I had to come home with a 2015 Lake County Merlot. You should definitely give this place a try if you like wine and are in the Redding area. read more

Incredible wines and great customer service. Well worth a stop! Joined their wine club after our first visit.

Easily one of the best winemakers in California. Quality and complexity outstanding!

Moseley Family Cellars - Thank you for sharing your Beautiful Barrel Room with us!! Cheers!!! - Wine Tasting Room Near Me - Redding, California

Thank you for a wonderful wine tasting experience on the lawn outside of the tasting room. We chose a later time of 8pm, which was nice because the sun started going down and a slight breeze was present. The wine tasting on the lawn was well worth it and a tasting list with in depth information and staff expertise was exceptional. We currently live out of town and walked from our hotel room and we purchase some great wine. Looking forward to returning. read more

Had a wonderful time tasting on a Saturday afternoon to celebrate a friend's birthday. Our ages ranged from 29 to 75 and everyone enjoyed themselves immensely. Their tasting room is warm, inviting and beautifully decorated. Since we were in a group, we were able to use the Barrel Room, which had amazing ambiance. The wine tasting is very reasonable with a good selection and variety of wines. The owners are very hospitable, knowledgeable and passionate about their wines and the love of their product shines through. Their motto "come as guests, leave as family" couldn't be more accurate. We all ended up purchasing some of their award winning wines. I highly recommend the Sauvignon Blanc and their Cabernet Sauvignon, both of which I purchased. I have already prebooked my birthday party in their Barrel Room, though it is not for several months. I am sure I will be back soon since you really do feel like family when you leave. A must do whether you live in the area or are visiting NorCal. read more

Well all we can say is that if you are 200 miles within Moseley Family Cellars you need to stop in and experience an awesome tasting and tour of the facility. After a delicious Tasting, owner Marty gave our daughter and us, a tour of his third love (we know one and two)--describing the science and process of the liquid goodness he and his team create. The cask room can accommodate special events/dinners, and by all means do it! Love, love, love this place and it's great people! read more

Oh man, so you choose your wines, tasting fee is $10 and there's a beautiful German shepherd!! But what else? Mimi Moseley was manning the tasting room. She is absolutely lovely and provided a super welcoming experience. There were scones! The wine list is expansive, boasting some whites that aren't buttery or popcorn-y and beautiful, lush reds. We bought two bottles and paid no tasting fees. Go visit them! read more

Went there on New Years day with my family. First time I visited a Redding winery, so I wasn't sure what to expect--but I wasn't expecting much. Luckily, I was blown away both by the hospitality and of the quality of the wine! Marty (one of the co-owners) brings a much needed southern charm to the north state both with his gift of story telling and wine knowledge. He patiently described each wine and walked us though it's changing characteristics as it warmed. I certainly walked away more knowledgeable and an good reason to come back and visit Redding! read more

I love love love Moseley Family Cellars - it's such a great experience from the moment you first walk in. The are originally from the South, so they have that Southern Hospitality thing mastered. The wines are great, and I love buying them to take to friends for dinner parties and holidays. They do lots of events at the winery, so it's not just a tasting room. Mimi and Marty are also very well established in the community and do lots of things to bring about good in Redding. I can't speak more highly about them and their winery. Bravo!! read more

Wonderful owners, great wine, makes me want to keep coming back for more! As their motto says "Come as Friends, Leave as Family!" and it is SO true. Love Mimi, her vivacious personality and giving attitude. The facility is great for events, too. read more

This Gem has been in Redding for years, but I only just discovered it a few months ago. The wine is delicious, I've enjoyed them all...it would be hard to pick a favorite! Mimi and Marty are super friendly and welcoming. When you step into the tasting room it feels like you just showed up for drinks at a friends house! They also rent out their barrel room for events. I've booked it for a bridal shower I'm throwing and Mimi has been fantastic to work with! If you haven't stopped in for wine tasting you MUST. My only complaint is that the tasting room isn't open more often! read more

Redding is so lucky to have Moseley Family Cellars...they are beyond amazing! I love their fabulous local wines, (especially the new Chardonnay) and their friendly welcoming family atmosphere! Lots of love for Moseley Family Cellars, which recently moved to a gorgeous facility on the north-end of town. The tasting room makes you feel like you're in Napa... excellent ambiance. I don't know a lot about wine, but I know I LOVE their rose. And for the icing on the cake - the Moseley's are generous with the community. It is so nice to see a local winery offer such a wonderful wine tasting experience! Their new building is beautiful and the tasting room has a fantastic atmosphere, filled with wine barrels. Moseley's wine is top notch! But, more importantly, their sense of community, love for others and desire to give back is what drives my personal support of this family owned local business! I went to Moseley Family Cellars for the first time on Saturday, May 28, 2016. It's just off I-5 by a couple of minutes. The tasting room is nice with seating if you wish and of course the bar to stand and do your tastings. I met Marty, owner and winemaker for the first time. He was explaining to first time wine tasters about what to smell for, look for and taste when sampling wines. Now that's a personal touch! As I was sampling wines, others started to wonder in. Seems these people were traveling on I-5 and saw the Winery on a google map and decided to stop in. They talked about how they liked the fact it was close to the Interstate so after driving a while you could pull off and enjoy some wine! Good move Marty and Mimi! During my tastings, Marty offered to take a few of us into the back where he processes wine and where the barrel room is. He gave us the history of how things started for him and his wife, Mimi. What a great story! He explained the different wines he had aging in different barrels. He even gave us several tastings out of the barrels of wines that will eventually make it out on the shelf. I can't wait for the Super Tuscan! Delicious! I found this family winery, in every sense of the words, very warm and friendly. Both Marty and Mimi are very into making sure your experience with them is the best! As Marty mentioned during our winery tour. It's not always about volume! I couldn't agree more. There is just something about small productions that have that personal touch to them and it's obvious the Moseley's care a lot about their wines but also about the people who come to taste and take home a bottle or two to drink with family members or friends. The wines are excellent and the whole atmosphere is engaging and laid back. Just what drinking wine should be. You guys did it right! I most definitely will be back and will spread the word about this small, unique and family friendly winery. Cheers! I HIGHLY recommend a visit if one gets the chance. read more
