The wine tasting is small and has cute outdoor seating, there is no food unfortunately, and the person serving unfortunately did not really explain the wines. On the plus side a tasting of I believe 5 wines is 8 dollars. read more

Love this small winery! Don't get me wrong, I love larger Napa wineries but nothing beats small local wineries that produce great wine! Matson is just that! Great wine, great people, and locally made. Oh and did I mention they are dog friendly?! Stop by for a glass or jump right in and join their wine club! We were up in Redbluff for a wedding and decided to take a jont up north and see what we could see, which, and this is no insult to the Redding area, is not much. We pulled up to Matson, and it's on some beautiful land - if you feel like you're out where no business exists you're getting close. The tasting room is nice and comfortable, but don't expect what you would see in Napa or Sonoma - this has a more homie feel. Technically they are by appointment only, but we walked in with no problem. As far as the wines here were our favorites: Glacier white - Easy to drink, smooth mouth feel. Very fruity finish Trinity - Versatile wine. Good table Aglianico - Deep and delicious port, wineier than most port - I wouldn't skip this even if you don't like ports. read more

Love this place! The manager, Lynette, is very warm and friendly and also very knowledgeable about the wine and history of the vineyard. We love going out on the weekends to taste and enjoy a bottle out on the patio with our friends, throw a ball for Muddy, the winery dog or just meander around the property. Come on out! This is the real deal, not just a tasting room but an inviting vineyard with grapes right outside the door. They have several shaded picnic tables out there, too, making it a great place to buy a bottle, get out your picnic basket and have an enjoyable lunch in one of the nicer outdoor spots around Redding. Laid back small vineyard in Shasta County. Cute tasting room with patio area over looking the vines. Staff very knowledgeable. Tasting room open Friday-Sunday. We joined the wine club, much more affordable compared to Sonoma or Napa wine country. We enjoyed a complementary tasting of about 5-6 wines. Then decided to buy a bottle of "Trinity" and enjoy the patio as we threw a tennis ball to "Muddy" Great Afternoon! I liked this winery so much I have joined their wine club. the staff and the owner Roger are wonderful people. this is a treat for a Friday or Saturday night tasting amount the lovely trees. the place is truly magical at night. Sunday bring the kids and picnic under the trees while playing a great game of horseshoes. a bit of country right in town. read more

Personally, this place was not my style. The tasting room is quite small and when we walked in the manager just started pouring wine without asking who was tasting or telling us what she was pouring. I prefer a small amount of conversation and/or a sheet that gives me tasting notes....on top of this, none of the wines were remarkable. read more

A few years ago My good friend and I first visited This Winery..And soon became A favorite Place to Go... Each time we go, we meet new people, always happy and friendly... We Love the Manager Lynette, who always welcomes us with open arms and a big smile.. Roger, The Winemaker, is delightful and always with a smile as he runs around the winery keeping things working... The staff is a pleasure to visit and always ready to help Visitors... We joined the Wine Club, and really have fun at their club Parties. We also get to volunteer when we can, with pouring, picking, crushing, filling, bottling and capping...I am so Glad we have such a Quality Winery so close to us... My Favorite is their Zinfandel.... YUMMY... and the new one this year Is also very Good... The Stellar Merlot..I highly recommend MATSON as a place to visit and enjoy !!! read more

Just came back from tasting a flight at this winery and I have to say I was overtly impressed. the reds were very representative of the region. Warm climate so a very good jammy fruit driven Zinfandel. Also they offered a variety of blends from grapes grown throughout the Shasta wine-growing region and on the vineyard property itself. Being an employee of Bemvo, I would highly recommend making this winery a stop on your tasting itinerary, especially if you want to gauge some local growers. Awesome red blends, great ports, and I forgot to mention that Lynette was extremely conscientious and absolute treasure of a host. I even spoke with the winemaker, Roger, who was a very gracious man. The prices for the wines are extremely competitive against wines sold in local stores and at a winery. 5 Stars! read more

I'm so glad I cam across this place during Thanksgiving time! It was open on black Friday and had great deals on wine bottles and wine tasting! The staff was very very nice and gave us recommendations on what wines to taste. I left with a few bottles as gifts! I cant wait to visit NorCal again!
