    Staples in Cement
    Marilyn D.

Our pool deck (old aggregate cement) was in major need of a facelift. The little stones were dislodging and painful when stepped on. I had seen a friend's cement resurfacing project which did not impress me as you could still see every existing crack and previous imperfection. I called Liquid Coating Designs after searching for "no cement tear out" companies, and I am so glad I did. Liquid Coating is amazing. The transformation has been fantastic and beyond what I had expected! Working with Liquid Coating Designs has been a joy. After giving them a call to request a quote, Irlanda came to our house, provided information and showed a video of what we can expect. I was excited to say the least. When the work commenced, I could see it was a process, but I enjoyed watching every step of it. I couldn't imagine staples in concrete until I saw them up close (green things in picture below)! Orlando, the foreman, would come by according to my schedule to give me updates and answer any questions. The crew was very efficient, showed complete respect for our property and cleaned up every afternoon before they left (hoses were rolled, taped and stacked in a pile). This level of meticulousness should be a course every contracting company should take. Liquid Coating Designs is a company which takes pride in its product and its work. They should! I walk out onto our pool area (barefoot) and cannot believe what a transformation I now have. I absolutely love it. I highly recommend Liquid Coating Designs. This is a company that has achieved perfection from start to finish. THANK YOU Liquid Coating Designs!

Our pool deck and patio area needed work. We did not want to install a new cement pool deck, so I looked for resurfacing cement. Liquid Design is a process that is different from resurfacing. Liquid Design Coating is a wonderful family-run company...very professional, neat, on time. Our job took three weeks which is what they predicted. We are so excited about how our yard looks, we are enjoying it everyday. It feels as if you are at a resort on vacation. We truly recommend Liquid Design Coating!!!

amazing transformation by Liquid Coating Designs. After meeting with a few different coating companies, we ultimately decided on LCD for several reasons. 1) They are the only coating company that actually specializes in stone coatings. This was extremely important for us. 2) Their customer service is beyond amazing and professional! Prepare to be blown away! 3) From when you are first greeted over the phone to when you first meet with a team member, everyone is very informative, helpful, and extremely accessible. I never had to wait long for someone to get back to me for any question or anything. Once the project started, the foreman checked in every day, and answered all of our questions throughout the process (and we had a lot!). The crew was here on time every single day, and worked hard to give us the pool deck of our dreams. Our crew chief Diego was so incredibly talented. We were in awe watching him carve the designs and blend the colors by hand. After being burned by other contractors, and met with a lot of disappointment, we had lost hope until we came across this company. They are family owned and operated, stand by every wors they say. Best decision we've made an a long time and we will definitely be referring all of our friends and family to this company! We couldn't be more pleased!

Ten years ago we hired LCD to transform our newly purchased home's HUGE backyard that has a pool deck and patios. Pavers and concrete were insanely expensive so we decided on LCD. They did a fantastic job then. Fast forward a few years, we had them do touch ups and sealing. Again, fantastic experience. We live in hilly area and wear and tear took a toll like any hardscape would. Come 2023/2024, we decided it was time to do a complete refresh and update the color palate. The amazing Charlie came out and assessed what needed to be done - repair settling areas, replacing mastic joints, etc. The lovely Irlanda was accommodating and communicative. They worked with our timeline and waited for our go ahead. Enter Cheshvan (aka Ches) and his partner (sorry didn't get his name). They worked for 2 weeks with skill and professionalism. They showed up every day at the same time and even came on a Saturday to complete the job. Ches was simply amazing. He gave us continual updates on timeline and shared what to expect each day. We shared pictures of colors we liked from the LCD website and he created sample areas where we could select the colors and pattern. As a side note, we had just completed an addition and major renovation on the house and had a VERY difficult and painful experience with other contractors who were messy, not reliable and did sub par work. (Our PTSD was real, and if you've ever done construction, perhaps you can relate.) Ches restored our faith in skilled workers who were professional and ethical. He is a true artist with such a kind and humble nature. Thank you Charlie, Irlanda, Cheshvan and partner for giving us a beautiful space that was pain free and enjoyable. We LOVE you guys.

We wanted to get our backyard patio replaced because it was showing age. After getting several quotes that were very high, we called Liquid Coating Designs. They came in with a different solution that was significantly cheaper. It also looked so much better. The design is amazing. We even had them do a retaining wall as well as our pool coping. This brought our backyard all together in a seamless design. The team took their time and did everything right. They were clean and they are truly artists. We are so pleased. We actually have a situation here where the least cost was the best solution. Cannot recommend them strongly enough.

We found out about this "AMAZING" company in a home improvement magazine. Gave them a call to request a quote. Charlie(owner)came to our home for a in-depth tutorial about Liquid Coating. Our pool decking was stamped concrete that we had for about 20 years, it had cracks and quite faded. It needed a facelift hence, we hired Liquid Coating to do there magic! We had the pleasure of working with Irlanda. The project was slated for October, but we got pushed up to September-Yay! Orlando and his team, Gabino and Jose began what would be a two week project. Gabino and Jose were such hard workers, showed up on time, they were always respectable of us and our home. At the end of their work day, they cleaned up so meticulously that you wouldn't know we had a project going on. Gabino had to get creative working around the pool edge...he is a MacGyver for sure . He placed a piece of wood in the deep end of the pool, a makeshift scaffold, if you will, because he had to get in the water. Very creative! They finished the project within two weeks. Our decking is absolutely "stunning!" We are super happy with the finished project. Charlie and his staff are just wonderful people! Irlanda was easy to communicate with, super sweet! Orlando was very nice. He periodically came to check on how the project was coming along. We genuinely enjoyed Gabino and Jose. We appreciated them very much. If you're looking to beautify your home's exterior, hire Liquid Coating Designs. They are not just contractors they are professional ARTISTS!! Thank you to all at Liquid Coating Designs!

If we could give 7 stars, we would! My wife and I are so incredibly happy we called on Liquid Coating Designs. Charlie - the owner - started the process with a visit to our home, describing his unique techniques, chemistries and artistry. Then, our crew of Orlando, Gavino and Juan worked under the hot sun and delivered! They not only salvaged our tired 43 year old aggregate pool decking, they turned it into a real showpiece! Just unbelievable how great things look now and what it did for our back yard. Thank you Charlie and your team.... we are forever grateful!!

We are very pleased with the work that was done at our house. Orlando, the supervisor, and his team provided excellent work and customer service. They would create various cement sample boards and grout colors to determine exactly what we would like as a final product. In our initial research and consideration, we weren't sure if this would look good or be done well over existing concrete. However after having them come over to give a free estimate, and offer insights and suggestions on how best to do and look, we decided to proceed. To our amazement, the final work product was great! We couldn't be happier. We feel like we now have a brand new backyard. After we saw how great the backyard looked, he had them do the front walkway as well! We spend more time in the backyard now with the new floor that makes it more inviting. Our neighbors and friends love how it looks and have also contacted them to do their houses. From a person who doesn't usually write reviews, I just wanted to give a big shout out to liquid coating designs for their excellent work and customer service. It was well worth doing this versus ripping out all the old concrete.

I first reached out to Liquid Coating Designs (LCD) over 20 years ago. I was looking for a solution to replace the aggregate cement that was all around the pool, back and front walkways. The aggregate was hard on the feet. I considered pavers but that would involve tearing out all the cement all around the pool and the house and the cost was prohibited for me. I also needed to add drainage around the side of the house which would involve building a retaining wall. After several bids for cementing and pavers, I thought there was no way I could afford to do half of what I needed to accomplish, but life has a way of presenting solutions. I found Liquid Coating in one of these Home magazines you get in the mail and was intrigued because their solution did not involve any tear out. After making an appointment with Liquid Coating Designs, Charlie showed up explained the entire process, no pushy sales pitch, just straight honest suggestions and consultation. Soon after his team began work at our house. Orlando managed the team and Gabino was the master painter and both worked in tandem, seamlessly. I was amazed as I watched the guys do their work, they were like artists, taking their time, working on every stone, making sure it blended and fit like a masterpiece. The stones looked so real and gave the pool area and surrounding walkways, a boost of color and an inviting look. The retaining wall they built, matches the current retaining walls around the pool area so well, that you can't tell the difference. These guys are truly masters of their trade. Fast forward to this year. We had major drainage problems under our home which led us to install French drains around the entire house. This involved tearing out most of the front and back yard, the deck, outdoor grill area and some areas around the pool. The construction was a major ordeal and lasted over five months. We were left with open areas where the deck used to be and we were completely overwhelmed around what to do next. Installing pavers was an option but then it would not match the Liquid Coating areas by the pool and the paver solution we considered, was too expensive. We reached out to LCD and Charlie came to meet with me. In my overwhelmed state, Charlie helped me review all the options available, whether it was pavers, simply cement or Liquid Coating. Again, no pushy sales pitch, just honest suggestions. The decision was made to go with Liquid Coating, and again, that has turned out to be the best decision/investment. The crew fixed, refinished and sealed all the damaged areas, left by the construction and also tried to make the new areas left by the demolition of the deck and grill space, closely match the design and color of the existing Liquid coating design by the pool and walkways. This was hard to do. After the work was completed, I could still differentiate between the new areas and the old, so I reached out to Liquid Coating again, spoke with Irlanda, who by the way is extremely accessible and helpful. She got me on the schedule soon after and sent Gabino out to touch up the areas. Again, Gabino was punctual, listened to my concerns and put his artistry at work. In a few days, all was done to my satisfaction. I can't say enough about Liquid Coating Design, it's refreshing, especially during Covid times, to have a company answer your call, listen to your needs and help you with a solid, no nonsense solution. I get complements all the time about the work that they have done, it looks so much like real stone that seasoned contractors have commented how they thought the stones where real. As for me, I happy to have found an affordable solution that looks so darn good! If you are thinking about doing any concrete resurfacing projects small or large, I highly recommend Liquid Coating Designs, not only do they do and excellent job, they are one of the few contractors that I have hired that show up on time, pay attention to details, are extremely responsive to my needs and reasonably priced. Thank you Liquid Coating Designs Team!

Our home was, built in the early 1960's. The backyard patio, driveway, and surrounding sidewalks were exposed aggregate. Over time, the cracks in the drive way and sidewalks become unsightly and we had to either rip it all out and replace it with new concrete or use Liquid Coating Design. Our neighbors used this company to redo their back patio and around the pool. I was blown away on the outcome. We had a quote and made a $500 deposit to get on their work schedule. If we had second thoughts, we could have canceled before the work started and get our $500 deposit returned. No risk. We were scheduled for about 3 weeks out. The workers showed up on day one to prep the surfaces. They treated the back patio and the driveway as two separate projects, as it was a lot of square footage. They pressure washed the aggregate, very strong water pressure. Over the next 6 weeks we had three workers (sometimes two) working from 7 AM to 4:00 every weekday. Their work is tedious, which makes sense. They are artisans. They made 4 sample boards about 2' x 4' with different designs and textures. We selected a large flagstone. For the cracks in the driveway and sidewalks, the use about 1/2 rebar, bent in to the shape of a large staple. They drill holes into the concrete and a 1/2 channel to accept the staple. They must have put 25 not he whole property. This was genius. Once the overlay was put down, they wait a bit, and then go back with pads to kneel on a carve in the desired design. After some other tedious cleaning the seems, they will apply the color of your choice. Once they added the color, we saw that the larger area would require a darker color and they went back and added more color to darken some stones. They did so without hesitation. After a few days, they add a sealer which makes the color come to life. They were able to cover the concrete and brick that was a landing in front of our doors. I find the sealer also allows me now to blow the area clean or hit it with the hose and cleans much easier. My wife and I are 100% pleased with the outcome and the work these artisans performed. I can't image what we would have turned up if we had jackhammers to remove the old concrete and pour new concrete. I highly recommend Liquid Coating Designs.

Orlando and Jesús did a great job on my 29 stairs. They removed the plaster layer and resurfaced the concrete. They presented various color and style options and communicated very well throughout the job. They were on-time, did not try to upsell or expand the scope and finished as expected. Would definitely recommend them.

    Driveway and stairs.

I should have called Liquid Coatings Designs right back when they promptly returned my call in September. Instead we met with at least six other companies who wasted our time. From the initial consultation with Irlanda to meeting with Orlando and watching Ricardo and his crew over 3.5 weeks, we cannot say enough about the quality, workmanship, communication and overall awesome experience. Every step of the way we were consulted, all our questions were answered and the backyard, driveway and stairs could not be more beautiful. Orlando checked in almost daily, Irlanda followed up, they redid the sample boards until we were completely happy and just made the entire process enjoyable. I would recommend them 100% and without reservation.

LEI works with YesPlease.Garden (YPG) who managed the design process and Fresh Coat Restoration who completed the new fence. The partnerships were well integrated and it felt like working with a single team. See my Google Maps review for more on YPG. We are very happy with our project and would recommend LEI because they were professional, courteous, reliable, and provided clear and upfront pricing. Documenting decisions in writing proved helpful for keeping everyone on the same page. Any problems we had were resolved fairly, such as correcting the direction of our stairs. Aaron is a man of his word but prefers to conduct most of his business through texting. We first contacted LEI and they promptly scheduled a time to visit our property with YPG to see what was possible within the budget we set out. We completed the design with YPG and LEI scheduled a time for the project demolition. A later approximate time for planting was set, but that was dependent on the availability of the various plants we had selected. Everything scoped in the design was completed within the budget and any add-ons we later requested were priced separately and fairly.

After deciding to remove our pool, we hired Aaron as the installer for our new landscape project, and we are so glad we did. For months, work was moving forward almost every day, from demolition prep and grading to hardscape, planting, irrigation, lighting, fencing, pergola installation, pebble work, and the finishing touches. The quality of the work was excellent throughout. The paver patio, carport, and front entry all turned out beautifully, and the plants, irrigation, and lighting were installed with great care. We were especially impressed by the rock and pebble work, particularly the dry creek and front mow strip. The mix of stone sizes gave everything a natural, detailed, and polished look that really elevated the final result. Aaron also has a strong eye for detail. He regularly caught things that needed adjustment, even when we had not noticed them ourselves, and he stayed focused on getting everything right. While there were some issues that delayed finishing the project, Aaron took responsibility and worked with us to make them right, which we truly appreciated. In the end, what matters most is that we are thrilled with the outcome. Our yard feels beautiful, welcoming, and complete, and we look forward to years of enjoying it.

We originally called Jeff to talk about fixing our drainage issues - our yard would flood every time it rained, and pool near the patio and foundation. Jeff was so thorough and explained where all our pain points were and how we could most effectively fix them. We decided to install French drains and pumps on both sides of the house to get water moving the right direction. Once we started digging, Jeff and his team realized we could make the drainage work without pumps by grading the yard differently - saving us tons of money! Naturally, we got excited and decided to increase the scope of work to include more landscaping, a few footpaths, small seating area, a bunch of sod for a new lawn, irrigation and a ton of new plants and trees. Jeff and Courtney checked in with us about budget throughout the whole project, making sure to send us new estimates when I got excited about adding something else to the revamp. Foundation Repair of CA (FRC) is the most disreputable, dishonest company I've ever encountered. I…read morehired them because I didn't want to hire the lowest bidder for a change, and I regret it. I wouldn't sign the contract when told I'd have to do my own masonry repair until sales agent Jesse Marquez showed me FRC corporate material that indicated the brick facade would be removed with a masonry saw, in an approximate 2x2' square. That was false and deceptive advertising. This is what they did to my house. No masonry saw was used, only impact drills, which act as small jackhammers. FRC significantly damaged the entire brick facade, adjacent areas showed extensive cracking, entire areas had the brick facade knocked completely off the house, and the wall foundation was separated from the brick wall entirely. I told the work crew, headed by Luis, to stop using impact wrenches on the bricks immediately, then told them TWICE. Not only did they not stop, despite direct STOP work orders, they then took all of the bricks they'd destroyed, which legally is theft, called conveyance. Jesse Marquez explained that the bricks were so old they'd shattered. Luis returned the bricks after Jesse Marquez called, ignoring my several phone calls and texts. Jesse texted that the bricks were so old they'd shattered. Luis returned them, none were shattered, all were broken by the impact drills. Luis confirmed, texting that the bricks were "broken". They took the bricks to hide the damage. The day FRC received my Contractor's State Licensing Board complaint, FRC messaged that someone would come to assess the damage for repairs, and FRC would repair the masonry they'd destroyed. They first sent Robert Pagan, who acknowledged both that there were no masonry saw marks, and that the damage was excessive. According to FRC, Jesse stated Robert hadn't said this. It wasn't until I pointed out he'd said it while standing in front of a Ring camera did that lie die. FRC then sent Troy Knight, who acknowledged the same, and stated he was there to help, and would see that the masonry was repaired and more. I have several texts, voicemails and emails from FRC stating they will complete the job. They never did. FRC employee Mike Crites was sent to perform the repairs. He returned the following week with the wrong sized bricks in the wrong color, and proceeded to do more damage. This is the work that they did. FRC employee Mike Crites initially stated that he had retired as a mason, he later revised that statement, saying he'd only worked with pavers and concrete. The work performed was so substandard, FRC sent Jovincio, who was the only honest person in my entire dealings with FRC. Jovencio said he wasn't a mason, but had "some training". Jovencio replaced the work done by Mike Crites. This is Mike's effort, and Jovincio's replacement work. The work performed is clearly substandard and unacceptable. FRC acknowledged the workers sent lacked the skills, training and necessary certifications to perform masonry repairs. When I requested that FRC send a mason, and included photos of the work, FRC responded that they'd done me a favor; the workers sent were a courtesy. The very clause they'd ignored (and invalidated) by removing the bricks was cited. That they would do no more, leaving me with the bill for their damage. This is what they left. I obtained a second quote to repair the deficient masonry 'work' FRC workers had done - without a REQUIRED permit, with no mortar pins, odd-sized and broken bricks mortared in randomly, mortar lines that range from non-existent to more than an inch. Crites' also removed the brick facade foundation in several sections, replacing it with sloppy concrete. This is a code-violating 'repair' that is neither plumb nor square. The legitimate mason company from whom I obtained a repair quote updated the quote, which has nearly doubled BECAUSE of the 'repairs' performed by the unqualified FRC employees. FRC called this doing me a favor, saying the inept crew was sent as a 'courtesy'. This is not doing me a favor, this is not a courtesy, this is at best fraud. After signing the contract (under false pretenses), Jesse insisted I needed an additional pier ($3,155) because piers can no longer be placed under a window. A pier was placed under the window. Two other piers were not placed according to the county approved structural engineering ($1,850) diagram. Half the piers were installed in the wrong places, apparently according to Luis' whims. Yesterday Groundworks gave an estimate on properly placing those piers. That's how I learned that the improperly placed piers had lifted a joist completely off its foundation supports. This, too, will require additional expense to correct, before it damages my house - literally to the roof. I should have stuck with Groundworks. This is your cautionary tale - no one who values integrity, ESPECIALLY senior women, shouldn't hire FRC.
