My husband and I finally made it to Liola, and so glad we did. Incredibly delicious meal and one of the best Italian restaurants in the neighborhood. We met the owner Vania, who's husband is the chef, and she could not have been sweeter or more hospitable! She really rounded out the whole experience. We had two pizzas, one margherita and one porcini mushroom with truffle - super fresh and high quality ingredients. The calamari fritti was also amazing, so tender. This is a cute Italian restaurant located in Whitestone, NY. I came for lunch on a weekday and the restaurant was almost empty, but the waiter mentioned you need reservations on weekends and Friday evenings because it does get packed. The interior of the restaurant was spacious and pretty and the waiter was friendly. The food took a while to come out but it was delicious and well worth the wait. As appetizers, We had the fried calamari, which was so tender and delicious, as well salads, which were perfectly balanced. For mains, we shared the bistecca, which I highly recommend (it was well marinated and tender ribeye that had perfect balance of fat), and the margarita pizza, which was good. Prices were reasonable. A fantastic hidden Italian gem in Whitestone. We tried out Liola based on a friend's recommendation. We were told the pizza was mind blowing... and it really was. We had the rucola pizza and the first bite was just... can't even describe it here. The pizza oven was important from Italy (see video) and you can see how it cooks the pizza evenly and perfectly. Fluffy dough, crispy crust, and perfect fresh toppings. We even let the pizza sit out for a few minutes while chit chatting, no soggyness! Also had the Fusilli al pesto. The pesto isn't your mom's pesto. It's so rich, creamy, satisfying, and did I mention tasty? Also ordered one of the specials which was their grilled octopus. I'm usually very reserved with this ingredient as most places grill the hell out of it and you're left with something chewy. Octopus here at Liola is super tender, I could even cut it with the side of my fork. I look forward to coming back to try every single pizza they offer. read more

This has become our new Thursday night dinner spot with our two young children. Staff is super nice and kid friendly; very accommodating. We go on the earlier side with the kids and it's usually very quiet then which is great. Food is amazing. The chicken stuffed with artichoke is cooked to perfection. All the pizza are phenomenal. The orecchiette with sausage and broccoli rabe is one of my favs. I also love to get the Siciliana salad to brighten up my meal. Great local spot that I cannot recommend enough. read more

I was invited to a party at Liola and found the food outstanding!!! The antipasto (calamari, clams oreganata, etc) fresh, light not heavy with oil. I've been here twice. Both times for a party. I can't speak on how they are as a general restaurant but they are fantastic for parties. Food is delicious, service is top notch. They have a nice bar area and the drinks are good. Clean bathrooms which many people don't comment on but is very important. We are so happy that finally we have quality restaurant pizza here in Whitestone! As soon as we saw Liola's instagram post about their brand new pizza oven, we made our way to try out. Service was amazing. Efficient and friendly by our waiter Alex and Mohamed who welcomed us even though we arrived an hour before their closing. We ordered their appetizer meatballs, Pizza Margherita for the kids, and Pizza funghi with prosciutto. They were all so delicious. It's hard to dine out with 3 kids but they were very kids friendly and accommodating too. Even though we went there before their last order time, we were not rushed at all. Came with family and was greeted by Mohammed. Nice guy. Food was great and the environment was very chill and with a warm atmosphere. Ordered the filet of sole and was a tiny bit salty but otherwise delicious with a nice garlic scent. Steak was quite delicious and cooked perfectly with some Rabe and potatoes. My meal didn't come as advertised. When I questioned it they had no answer. I was given chicken thigh instead of breast. Was told that it's part of the breast so it's breast. Went here for dinner on father's day. It was quiet, some people but not crowded, and had nice decor. The food was good, the service was a little slow but they were attentive so can not really complain. Started off with calamari, which was delicious. Ordered salmon, pizza, chicken, mashed potatoes, asparagus, spaghetti, and raviolis. I would recommend this to anyone in the area for a good, but more formal, meal. Besides the pizza being nothing to go crazy over... The service was HORRENDOUS. All over a club soda tonight. I received the club soda with a clump of hair wrapped around the straw and complained to the waiter to which he was very sarcastic and said "does it look like I have hair on my head?" Then he takes it and goes to the back and I watch as he pours the same club soda Into another empty glass! Doesn't give me a new drink! Disgusting! When he comes back to the table, I asked him for the manager and he got in my face and said "so you're gonna complain about me now?!" The manager was also very rude and said "how do you know it wasn't your hair in the glass?" Never ever returning again. Btw - the waiter was bald and dark-toned complexion. I have been here 2 times. The first time the eggplant was burnt so I sent it back. We went back because we had a coupon which the Manager/Chef didn't want to honor because he made up his own terms of acceptance which ARE NOT written in the coupon. The portions are small and I have had much better Italian cooking elsewhere. The place is always very empty, yet they sell coupons that they won't honor. I only went because of the coupons and I am asking for a refund for my other two coupons since this establishment is not good. read more

The photos do not do justice to the warm ambiance of this fine Italian Restaurant but it does show the simple, understated elegance. If you're looking for delicious homemade style Scillian cooking at it's best look no further. I had the chicken parmigiana with penni which was amazing followed by tortufo which was as delicious. My friends and I went for lunch and street parking was easy. You need reservations of course and they have Valet Parking as well. Our Waiter's name was Mohammed and you would be lucky to be seated at one of his tables. He is a seasoned professional with a photographic memory of the menu and daily specials. I don't really write reviews but just I had to for this one because maybe more people will pay attention and follow suit. Finally some real Italian pizza. Like the pizza you actually get in Naples, Italy. My favorite here is the "rucola" with the prosciutto, arugula and shaved parmigiano. It's fresh and delicious every time. And I've only really ordered through Uber Eats, so it's probably even better fresh out of the oven. Tonight I tried chicken cutlet sandwich with fresh mozzarella, arugula and tomato. One of the best I've had ever. It was legit like my mom makes it. Fresh pan fried cutlets. Fresh soft bread, mozzarella, arugula and tomato. I also tried the meatballs. I was kinda mad because they were out last week when I ordered and I wondered why. Now I know. They were also hands down some of the best meatballs I have ever eaten. Not bready. I usually love this place but I am sitting here at a table and I was told when we sat down that there was a set menu. $80 a head. I questioned it because I have an allergy to shell fish and the menu was heavy on shell fish. I was given a different pasta but the appetizer was oysters and tuna tartare. I and my husband noticed that after we ordered others were being given other options. So I was just listening to the table behind us and they were told that there was a special menu but there were special menu items they could order. Very pissed. LOVE THIS PLACE!!! My family of 6 decided to try Liola for my mother's birthday - We were not disappointed!! The food and the service was fantastic!! A hidden gem.. As an appetizer we ordered the spinach ravioli to share, burrata and crab cakes. For the crab cakes, they offered us a mixed appetizer including the crab cakes, fried calamari and clams in this delicate sauce! The spinach ravioli is to die for! Loved the mix with the burrata. The calamari was light and crispy and included fried zucchini - yummm. Everything was delicious. And the sauces had me dipping bread I didn't want to eat!! Even though the restaurant wasn't packed when we arrived at 3pm, ALL of the food was fresh, including the Filet of Sole and Branzini special we ordered for our main entree.
