    My favorites. Nov, 2025.
    Laura S.

Nov, 2025. My husband really likes the variety of foods on buffets so, when we passed by Lin's Grand Buffet during a recent trip to Phoenix, I knew that we would be going there for lunch. (Looking on-line, Lin's Grand Buffet appears have multiple restaurants in the Phoenix area; we visited the location on E Baseline Rd). This is a gigantic buffet, both in terms of the quantity and variety of food. In addition to rows and rows of entrees, noodles/rice, soups, salads, desserts, etc., there's also a Mongolian BBQ station and a counter with sushi. There was even a tray with enchiladas! My husband and I agreed that Lin's had some of the best tasting Chinese buffet food that we've ever had. Plus, given the large number of patrons, the food was hot and trays were replenished regularly. I particularly liked the pork dumplings (with a hint of fresh ginger), pepper shrimp, and breaded and fried zucchini (just like mom used to make!). My husband's favorites were beef and broccoli, cream cheese rangoons, and apple pie topped with vanilla ice cream. Unfortunately, the Mongolian BBQ was a fail for me. I filled my plate with a great variety of vegetables (bean sprouts, zucchini, cabbage, peppers, onions, garlic, etc.), noodles, and some chicken and beef, and then turned it over to the chef at the grill. When I picked it up a few minutes later, my fresh stir-fry was close to black in color because the chef had added a huge amount of soya sauce during the grilling process. I've been to other Mongolian BBQ restaurants that allow you to add your own sauces to your bowl before giving it to the grill chef; that would've been preferable in this case. I don't believe in wasting food -- but the only way that I was able to eat this was by adding more noodles to lessen the per-bite overbearing salty taste. Service was excellent. Our waitress was attentive, even refilling our ice waters before we asked, and efficiently taking away used plates. The restaurant was tastefully decorated and clean. The parking was free and plentiful. The value of the lunch buffet is excellent -- $14.99/adult before taxes and tip. Seniors aged 62 and above also get a 10% discount.

Went to lunch at Lin's Grand Buffet South Mountain, a buffet chain with over 15 locations across Arizona, Texas, and California. It is known for its wide variety of food options, including a sushi bar, a Mongolian grill, and classic Chinese dishes. I really go to Chinese buffets for the seafood, and Lin's has a very nice selection and a great sushi station. I found everything to be super fresh and appealing. They also have a shrimp boil available, which I really enjoy, as well as many of the classic Chinese dishes most people look for. We usually go to the Metro Center location and the Baseline location is also very good.Lunch price is $14.99 with 10% off for seniors. Dinner is $17.99. Carryout is $8.29 per pound.

Although it looks like a cake, I don't really know what it is. Next is some shrimp or prawns & I don't know what the other two are

It was really amazing. Beautifully decorated very helpful where the staff. The salmon was out of this world. I also had some of the bake seafood casserole. That was very delicious. I had some of the mushrooms and the fried shrimp that was very good. one of the ladies got some kind of chicken or something and she said it was really spicy but she ate it. She said it tasted so good. We really enjoyed ourselves. The ice cream machine was broke. All you could get was chocolate that it was delicious. I also got a cream puff. I don't know if anyone else in the group got dessert.

Food was good like usual today, but the service was sorely lacking. Half way through my meal before I got my soda and never got a refill. Hoping this was a one off, not a new standard!

Me, I do not have a photo of this restaurant in my phone.

The food is great, service is quick, and ambiance is nice. I have only done takeout! Please search this restaurant and if ever near by know dining in or taking out, I personally like the food.

Our family made a special trip out to Lin's Grand Buffet on a Wednesday night, and while the restaurant was busy, there was plenty of seating available. The menu offers a wide variety of Chinese dishes and some seafood, though the sushi was fairly basic and the dessert station consisted mostly of thawed frozen items and canned fruits. They do have a Mongolian grill and a steak station, but since both were manned by a single chef, the wait for a made-to-order steak was quite long and ultimately not worth the delay. While the pricing is fair for an "all you can eat" experience, the restrooms were in need of a deep cleaning and a serious upgrade. Overall, it's a decent, basic Chinese buffet if you are already in the neighborhood, but I wouldn't recommend driving out of your way for it when compared to other AYCE options.

    So cool at night!

Ask the Community - Lin's Grand Buffet

What are your current prices for dinner?

About $16-17. Weekday lunch is the best deal at $13 and change! Read my review. Call them for exact prices!

    Is it still buffet?

Yes it is still a buffet! From providing hand-sanitizing stations to supplying you with disposable plates and flatware, we’ve taken every possible precaution to welcome you back to our buffet safely.

Do they have early bird pricing?

    No.

Do they always have steak as an option to eat?

Yes at the dinner time, everyday

What is the price for a single adult?

I believe we pay $14-15 a person on the weekend. Lunch on weekdays is cheaper. $2.50 more for a drink.

Whats the price to eat here? Are drinks included?

Drinks are not included, couple dollars extra with free refills. The price goes up on weekends & evenings. I believe we pay $14 a person usually, and totally worth it for the selection. There is a lower kids price too as I recall.

What an amazing evening, beautifully curated with so many thoughtful details. Only downside is that…read morefor some reason Apple maps was not accurate to finding the location and parking was a challenge as it is right on Roosevelt Row. However as soon as I found it and immediately after entering Pretty Penny I was transformed to the cutest little restaurant. I was greeted immediately and had made a reservation so even though my friend hadn't arrived yet, they sat me down. They instantly offered water and menus (food and cocktail). I noticed that the menu seemed very small and the dishes were shareable -- I don't eat meat so I was hoping my friend wouldn't mind sticking with fish and seafood (which she didn't). As soon as I got to my table there was the cutest sign that said welcome to Sarah Sherman and guest -- it was such an adorable and personal touch, I loved that! As soon as my friend got there we immediately both ordered the cold brew old fashioned -- we thought about the espresso martini but this just sounded too good to pass up -- and we were not disappointed! This drink was so tasty and strong. We immediately ordered the bread (sourdough boule) to soak up some of the alcohol as well as some oysters and the salsa. The oysters were so well spiced and were absolutely delicious. But the bread, the bread, the bread -- the server mentioned that it took almost 9 months to develop the bread recipe and it served. It was the best bread and butter that I think I have ever had! The salsa was good but probably was my least favorite of everything and it was still super yummy. We then moved on to the octopus tostadas. Sometimes octopus is not my fav -- it can be too chewy but this was so amazing and incredibly flavorful. It was starting to be my favorite dish until we ordered the Hamachi -- OMG!! Talk about a mouth orgasm-- both my friend and I were yummming it up -- but seriously this bite was so complex with different flavors coming up with every chew -- it has coriander candied peanuts, fermented pineapple, avocado, pickled fresno, toasted coconut and aji amarillo yogurt -- The server mentioned that this was the chef's least favorite dish which I totally do not understand because this was off the charts in my book. We also tried the earl gray whiskey sour, which was light and delicious, and ended with the shrimp toast and the espresso martini. By the way the toast on the shrimp toast was like a little fried dough triangle -- sooooo gooood! The martini was good but the cold brew old fashioned really stole the spotlight for me. Other details I loved that just elevated the experience: Purse hook (very important to me), the little trays for your utensils, metal coasters, incredibly attentive servers, fantastic music, great ambiance and the cutest was the penny they put on top of your check. So cute -- was not expecting such an enjoyable all around experience!! Will be back 1000%!!!

It was pretty good but certainly not worth the titular pretty penny price--and we didn't even get…read morethe recommended 8 dishes, which is, like, the entire menu. To start, the menu is a bit puzzling. It's kind of like a handful of Asian-inspired dishes, a handful of Mexican/South American, and a handful of French or New American. But there's not enough of each to chart a course through one type of cuisine. So, basically you're gonna have a cultural melange meal. Hamachi crudo was really good and fairly unique. The halibut was excellently prepared but not particularly innovative in any way I could tell. Zucchini had goat cheese, which wasn't immediately clear from the description, so I didn't enjoy the rude surprise I got when I took my first bite, and didn't eat anymore, as I really despise the stuff. So that was a waste. Not a dig on the dish, just a personal thing I wish I had more notice of. There were other issues though. The wine list was exceptionally small, They were out of the bread, which is supposedly a must-try. And then we were going to get the steak but the folks next to us advised against it, showing their cut that had zero fat. They said it was leather. On that point, the tables are SUPER CLOSE. Like, a couple inches apart. You hear everything and almost can't avoid getting entwined into others' conversation. We liked the people we were next to, but be aware that it's an unintentionally awkward communal experience that's not well-suited to a date night. The service was pretty good, they put out a nice printed greeting with the reservation name, and give you a sparkling wine toast. But considering the price and overall experience we had, I'd pass and not come back.
