My visit to Lin's Grand Buffet was anything but grand. They have a decent selection of food, but I'll be honest, I was expecting more. I came on a pretty busy Friday night so they were consistently replenishing the food. Most of the food I tried was just ok. The crawfish were spicy but not in a good way. The prawns were overcooked and rubbery. Maybe I missed it, but there also wasn't sauce to dip the shrimp in. The broccoli steak and marinated mushrooms were the only things I tried that were actually good. I went back for seconds on both of them. STAY AWAY FROM THE SUSHI. I tried all of the sushi available. All of them were freezing cold, to the point that some of the fish on top had completely hardened. There was a fried roll that clearly was made ahead of time and stored in the fridge until serving. Sushi should be cool/cold, not straight out of a freezer. On a positive note, the staff were very friendly. The waitress brought my water quickly and would pick up my plates as soon as I was finished. I paid $20 after tax and did not get my moneys worth from this visit. What restaurant makes you pay first then asks if you want soda or water for drinks before paying?!? After eating at other buffets then coming to Lynn's Grand Buffet, I must say we were really disappointed. The staff is nice enough and they keep everything very clean, but the food is just not worth it. It's under seasoned, like bland and it's overcooked.. Their pineapple chicken was Xtremely chewy and over cooked. Almost as if these chicken had been sitting all day under the lights. They don't have a vast selection of foods. They have a good selection of Chinese and American favorites including a Mongolian Grill, Fried Shrimp, Crab Legs, Sushi and other Seafood, too. The servers were friendly, quick to help but stayed out of your way. There was Pizza and hand dipped Ice Cream for the kids. They have all of the usual favorites and more. The place is nicely decorated and all was very clean, including the Restrooms. If a Chinese Buffet is what you like, you could do lots worse. We went back and forth between this location and East Buffet and ended up choosing this place. The restaurant was clean and well maintained, but it didn't look like it had been busy throughout the day. Some of the food honestly looked like it had been sitting out for a long time. I was surprised to see that they offered menudo, but it was disappointing--it looked like it hadn't been changed out at all during the day. The variety of food was decent, but the shrimp was really the only item that actually tasted good. Unfortunately, most of the food I put on my plate wasn't very good. It came out to almost $39 for two people, and drinks weren't included, so we stuck with water. Overall, the food was mediocre at best--just basic buffet food. That said, I'd still say give it a try at least once and decide for yourself. &.... Don't get me started on the bathrooms. If you average this out with all the other dozens of Buffets in Houston this would be one of the top ones. Of course it still needs to shake its newness out so come back about a year and you will see if this place will take a nose knife or away maintain the service, variety of food and price. This is located where the old East Buffet used to be which also was a Chinese buffet obviously and was good for maybe about 3 or 5 years into it Dove downhills and became trash choice cannon fodder that I will never to come back to. I was reluctant to come try this because of the bad memories from the previous restaurant but I'm glad I wasn't making it to go in here. You would not be disappointed and if there's something that you cannot find here that you don't like, and you're definitely not looking. The place are taken away and drinks refilled in a quick manner. You will never have to grab your throat and dry pain because your server never came around and checked on you because they are very attentive. It is the end cap of a strip joints what parking is ample because it wraps around the building as well. Very easy to find, it's on the corner of 1960 and Veterans Memorial that will be the west side of Northwest Highway and the south side of 1960. You can't miss it read more

Food 4/5 Considering the price I was paying this was worth the price and in fact, I would come back. Lunch is until 4pm (I went on a Friday)!! Price was 12.99. and dinner is 16.99 (and they did advertise steak is included for dinner). Some of my favorite foods that I tried here are -fried chicken (crispy, savory and freshly fried) 5/5 -imitation crab sushi 4.5/5 (savory crunchy and seasoned) -square cinnamon cake (it has toasted coconut on top i think) its soooo MOIST, soft, and luscious with great cinnamon flavor (imagine a fluffy horchata). I went to Lin's yesterday evening after work with my coworker. I went to the restroom to wash my hands before getting food. The women's bathroom had one stall that was out of order and the larger stall had feces in it. I brought it to the attention of the manager and it was cleaned. However, it was not very busy when we came so my concern was how often is the restroom being checked and also if it was an employee did they even bother to wash their hands before returning to work. The food section is small. The rice had been sitting out and my coworker was concerned about food being up to proper temperature. I will not return to this place. We didn't bother to even really try the food for fear of getting sick. read more

I didn't take any pictures, just wanted to leave. I am currently on a work trip and needed somewhere to eat. Wish I hadn't picked here. Lots to pick from but food wasn't good at all. Everything tasted stale or old. I thought I'd be safe with a salad but the croutons were even stale. Anything seafood tasted fishy. I needed up filling up on edamame then left. It's not the worst Chinese buffet I've ever been to, but that doesn't mean I will be back. The positives: The sesame chicken and general Tso's chicken were good (not great) and the bathroom was clean. The fried rice was bad; it had a weird flavor to it. The lo mein had a good flavor, but the noodles were short so you couldn't get a forkful with a twirl. The dumplings were dry (sitting out to long I think), the fried plantain was a little undercooked so it was not as tender and sweet as it should have been, and a lot of the food was mislabeled so I wasn't sure if the general Tso's chicken wasn't really orange chicken. Otherwise the bourbon chicken, kung pao chicken, coconut shrimp, philly roll, and pineapple chicken were okay. They claim to be the biggest buffet, but it didn't seem that much bigger than e-star or china sea, and it wasn't up to par with those in terms of quality. bigger doesn't make it better. read more

All the usual pitfalls of a poorly executed Chinese buffet. Steam tables were on but regular lightbulbs instead of heat lamps. Steam tables were set low so most of the food was very cold. Surprised the health department hasn't put a stop to that on an inspection! Pair that with old product and you get the picture. read more

First time here was not a good experience. First off, no steak. We arrived at 7:50 pm on a Sunday (they close at 9) and the place was pretty busy. Not completely packed, but a full dining room as far as most of the tables in the main room. The food, however, was severely lacking with still an hour left before closing time. (See pictures I posted with times.) My sister inquired to the manager whether or not there was even going to be crab legs, in which he responded that some more would be coming out. So we decided to just stay and eat, considering we were all really hungry and drove a long way to get here. They really didn't refill the food at all and by 8:30pm everything was basically empty, with everybody just walking around getting scraps. I felt bad for a big family that arrived after and at least 1 other would-be patron as there wasn't anything for them to eat. My brother-in-law (who used to be a buffet manager himself) complained to the manager about the lack of food. The food actually wasn't badly prepared/ seasoned for the most part, but this was a very poor dining experience, which we relayed to the manager. He actually said that he hears it from a lot of people and they just come back way earlier the next time like around 4-5 pm. He apologized and said the kitchen closes at 8:30, to which we replied that they still should have refilled the food prior to the kitchen closing. We then showed him the first picture we took at 7:50 and said that food was not being refilled. He argued that the food was refilled after this picture was taken and that he did it himself (note that he was referring to the crab legs and although he didn't lie, that one refill, which didn't even completely fill the whole tray, was quickly emptied out by diners) He quickly dismissed our comments and just walked away even though he knew damn well none of the other foods were being refilled and straight tried to play in our faces. He was friendly enough, but clearly has poor managerial and customer service skills. We were merely voicing our complaints for their improvement. Even if he didn't give us a measly 5-10% discount, he could have simply apologized for their short falling. My family comes from customer service backgrounds and we have worked restaurant/ server and managerial positions, so we were very respectful and not aggressive/ combative or raise our voices in any way. The fact that we weren't the first to make these very same complaints and yet they have not improved, clearly shows poor management. We don't even eat very much and honestly don't always eat til we're completely stuffed when going to buffets, but we left here tonight completely unsatisfied and frankly still hungry. read more

Looks clean inside but you have to pay first? Dinner was 18.99$. We were going to pay cash for tip so we just wrote 0 on the cc receipt. Maybe that's why our service was almost non existent? We had over 6 plates and set to the edge of the table for her to grab them but table was not cleared until them being there for over 20 minutes. Drinks were not refilled until 10 minutes after they were empty. The food was subpar the general tso's chicken was rock hard, must've been there all day or maybe that's just the quality they make. I don't know. They only cooked enough crab for 3 customers to grab plate fulls before the rest of the customers had to wait again for the next run? The guy cooking steak just handing out steaks to people walking up after we were there waiting for them to cook for 7 minutes only to have them grab 2 each, leaving us to wait even longer. The wings were drier than a Popeyes biscuit. I think the only good items were the salt and pepper shrimp and the thin indo style noodles. Save your money and go some place you actually like imo. 3 people with one drink ended up costing us close to 75$ tip included. read more

First impressions for this Chinese buffet. Very good. I know my Chinese American buffets. And this one is not bad. Singapore rice noodles are tasty, seasoned potatoes are firm and tasty. BBQ Ribs are not great, stick to char shiu ribs please. Maki sushi rice could use a hint of rice vinegar but there was alittle wasabi in there, yes, season the rice just alittle more. decent but ok for CB. Split top Deep Fried pepper shrimp is seasoned well. Don't see that in CB before, reminds me of Garlic shrimp in Kahuku Hawaii. Well played! Took alittle of the onion rings , better than most restaurants that serve them. Top notch! Lose the beef brisket and BBQ ribs. Baby Octopus was dry, Egg rolls very good mix. All in all. Our waiter was very nice, but that is it. We came about 7pm and they didn't have much food. What was out was cold and they didn't refill much. The place wasn't busy when we got there but it filled up more about midway through our meal. You would think they would bring more food out but nope. The food really upset all our tummies as well. Maybe leave them over there next time...sorry not sorry but this is Houston and we like seasonings and flavors. All the seafood was salty as heck, the sushi was questionable, and the crawfish was giving flavorless mudbugs. Everything was fried or some generic Chinese food that was very subpar at best. I believe the previous buffet at this location was E-Star or something like that and it felt like they remodeled/rebrand but kept the bland food.
