Our…read moreold concrete slabs were cracked, and had shifted, altering the drainage of water to flow towards our house. After interviewing many landscape pavers, Ideal Engineering stood out for being prompt to all the meetings, willing to visit multiple times to double-check measurements before bidding and were knowledgeable on the current state of available inventory and which showrooms to visit to preview them. Prices were very reasonable and transparent. There were no unplanned mark-ups and all change orders were reviewed and had to be approved by me in advance, so I could budget accordingly. I think this is an advantage of choosing a local paver. The work was efficient and professional - different specialized crews for demolition, irrigation, paving, cleanup were used with their own knowledgeable foremen. Each foremen acted as an available point of contact and communication was easy and friendly. Any texts or calls were usually returned within minutes. The teams were proactive in highlighting any complications or issues that might require design approval to make sure the work they did matched what I had in mind. For example, Pedro, the paver lead felt it was better to create a smooth curve at a corner instead of a straight 90 degree corner, and he was right! The boundaries flowed smoother and nicer with the lawn. The paving work was top-notch. We had decided to install premium pavers from Belgard, and it was important the work was done properly for such an investment. This included grading at the proper slopes for proper drainage, adding weed-resistant fabric, multiple levels of graded stone for proper leveling and polymeric sand for good sealing between pavers. The team helped build custom steps that looked very nice to create easy step-downs and paver edging was done with great style and aesthetics. For a potentially complicated project, I really felt confidence in the team and the process. David also helped offer advise in helping me move and reset our external heat pump units so that they could be reinstalled on top of the pavers. They were able to build conduits to facilitate running irrigation and electricity underneath the pavers for adding drip irrigation of containers and future lighting in our garden. Cleanup was thorough, with parts of our yard reseeded and topped with new topsoil. There was no construction debris left on our lawn or streetside. Everything was swept up. Fence gates that were temporarily removed were re-installed to appear as if nothing ever happened. I would definitely use Ideal Engineering (Ideal Landscape & Concrete) again for future projects.

Before we worked with Bert, this was a huge issue every time it rained, as water would sleep through the cracks into the crawlspace below. Other contractors wanted us to redo the entire porch, but Bert suggested a more conservative option of redoing only the really bad areas and touching up the rest. He and his crew were super careful to make sure dust didn't get into the house, covering all the windows and porch with plastic before they got to work. Bert also fixed another part of our brick pathway that was sunk lower than the ground level and made it look good as new. This involved shoring the house, pouring all new foundation and retaining walls, and expanding the walls and framing. Overall, Mick (owner) and his team's work was thorough and detailed, and I would recommend him to other home owners, and consider him for my next project. 1) Mick (the owner) was the most thorough in bidding compared to other contractors. He came to the house multiple times, brought subcontractors to look at the job, and ultimately gave an estimate that was competitive and had my confidence. 2) Mick was one of the safest and most punctual contractors I have met. The work would start at the exact time every day, the work site would be thoroughly cleaned each day, and there would be high emphasis on safety (hard hats, signage, etc) 3) Mick had to communicate with an architect, three engineers, and a variety of subcontractors and he handled that very well. He was always a step ahead in seeing upcoming problems to resolve. 4) Mick was at the job site and worked with others himself each day! This raised the quality and made sure the work stayed on track. 5) the work finished on time, as previously estimated, despite the fact that the work was done during the rainy winter. 6) Most importantly, the end result was great, all inspections passed on the first try, and other contractors and subcontractors that visited the site were impressed.
