We had a great experience with Moonraised Landscape! From start to finish, they were professional, very easy to work with, reasonably priced and produce excellent work. 10/10 would recommend if doing a backyard renovation!

I can't compliment Luis and the family enough! They are just really good people. Our backyard and front yard were too tragic to have photos of. We were looking to turf the dead grass and have some low maintenance plants. Luis worked with us to transform the front and back yard to a really adorable oasis. Great value, reasonably priced, and great quality work, our neighbors are actually contractors and commented that they did not skimp. Chicken/gopher wires went down, the grass came out and the new plants came in. He gave instructions on how to maintain everything. They built the pergola and painted it exactly how we wanted it. I would work with them any chance possible.

Luis and his team did an incredible job on our landscaping! They were the best contractors we've ever worked with. They are responsive, timely, professional, detailed, and easy to communicate with. We were impressed with the quotes they gave: both the level of detail and the very reasonable pricing compared to other quotes we had received. They also were dedicated and knocked the job out quickly. Most importantly, the work they produced was absolutely beautiful and we love looking at our landscaping and enjoying our backyard now! We had them completely redo the front yard, and install grass and fencing in a portion of the backyard. (The outer part of the backyard has not been done yet). We would definitely work with them again and recommend them to everyone!

I'm so glad we chose Moonraised for our front and backyard renovation! They're very price friendly and reasonable. I had 3 other companies come out and give me a quote and they were ridiculously expensive! But with Moonraised, they explained and gave me a breakdown of the cost. Luis and his dad are also super friendly! They were able to complete the job within 7-8 days, their attention to detail is very good and the materials that they used is also durable and strong. I would definitely call them again once we decide to put a fence in my front yard! Thanks Moonraised, I've already recommended you to my neighbors :)

Can't recommend these guys enough! Finding someone who would get back to me within the same day was pretty difficult since I needed them to work with my schedule. I know everyone is busy but sometimes they just need to be better at responding to quotes. From the consultation right to the very end Angel got back to me within minutes via text. This was one of the reasons why I went with Moonraised Landscape and also because the quote was a lot more reasonable to the ones I've received prior. I spoke with Angel about the broken part of my driveway that I needed replaced and within 2 days he was able to come out and go over everything with me in person. Very professional and straightforward guy! The same week my project was started on and although it wasn't a huge project I really appreciate the fact that I got updates at the end of the day. The customer service and work that was done are phenomenal. I can't recommend these guys enough, I had an easy and soothing experience!

Luis and his team did a great job to redo our front yard. Luis and his team provided mosts reasonable bid and delivered high quality work within short time. It only took three weeks since I contacted Luis for bid to the finish of the project which is amazing. The work includes removing all plants, trees and bricks, installing a beautiful fence and a patio, planting drought tolerant flowers all over around our front yard and other works like installing irrigation system and path lights. We are very happy with the final result which looks exactly what I anticipated. My husband and I recommend Luis and his team for any landscaping work that you may need.

Luis and his team did a great job on our backyard. It came out so beautifully and we would highly recommend using them!

I probably don't have to mention which stone is the replaced one. The color different is just so obvious.

I'm baffled by all these good reviews here. My experience with this company and their performance was very disappointing and Luis is not trustworthy. I hired them to install artificial turf, replace some flagstone and some other work in my backyard in July 2019. Artificial Turf - the quality of the work they have done was poor. For the artificial grass, as you can see in the photos, they made the patchy job - I understand the original material doesn't cover the whole width. However, the way they put the extension is that they used two small pieces instead of one piece for the whole length (even though apparently the original material had the whole length), and also they didn't match the direction of the furs for the extended portion. The results is what you see in the photos. Expensive work (cost me a lot) resulting in cheap & non-professional work. Flagstone - as you can see in the photos, the replacement flagstone doesn't match the existing ones. I asked them to bring the matching flagstone. But when they brought the piece, I noticed right away that it looked different. I mentioned that to Luis and he said it's only because the existing ones are dirty, and assured it is the same stone. Well, his lie (or he doesn't know types of flagstones) is shown in the photo. The stone he installed is more of a manufactured stone with lots of pores and not real stone as the existing ones. I contacted him with these photos multiple times but he never returned my calls or text. Some Remaining Work - The entire work included washing the stones and some miscellaneous work too. I was considering holding off the washing due to the potential San Mateo Sewer project interference, but as soon as I learned about the project schedule and scope of work, I saw there was no reason to delay it. So I asked Luis to complete the job all at the same time as other work. But somehow he insisted to wait till the sewer project is done, and he would comeback later. However, he asked for the full payment for the entire scope of work including the remaining work. I trusted him and paid the entire job even though not all work was done. Guess what, I have been calling him for one year, and he never responded. He's been just ignoring my calls and text. I hear a lot of people talking about disappearing small contractors after hack jobs, taking money, etc. I believe though those are the small number of bad apples and most of small contractors are honest, professional and do a good job. What I don't get is all the good reviews about Moonraised and Luis here. In my book, he is definitely in the "AVOID" list. It will cost me a lot to fix all the hack job he did.

Luis and the crew were awesome! Can't recommend these guys enough. They turned my neglected overgrown yard into a place I can now use. I took my time looking for landscapers and out of all the ones I spoke with none were more responsive than Luis/Moonraised Landscapers. Extremely happy with the results, and the professionalism of the crew. You can't go wrong with these guys.

We absolutely love our new backyard!!! We are very pleased with the work Luis and his team at Moonraised Landscape did in renovating our backyard! In fact, we will soon be having them do another project in our front planting area which is about as strong of an endorsement as we can make. Our project was small in area but to realize the design it involved 1) demolition of some fairly thick concrete and leveling of the area and installing flagstone, 2) construction of some tricky custom arbor elements, stairs and fencing, 3) fabrication and installation of a custom metal handrail, 4) installation of low voltage uplights with timer, 5) installation of timed drip irrigation system, 6) installation of a water feature, and 7) planting of the entire area. So while the area was small ( ~300 sq ft) it involved most of the elements any landscaping would require and they did a strong job in all areas. Luis was wonderful to work with and an excellent communicator! He was very accommodating of change orders and modifications as we went along. He was always pleasant to deal with and soon had our trust. He also worked very well and closely with our designer and they came up with suggestions and sourcing ideas that made for a much better outcome. We love our new backyard and it is now a much more inviting and usable space. lastly, the garden is absolutely gorgeous at night with all the uploading. Best of all the hummingbirds are back!

Luis and his crew did a great job on our artificial turf. The job was started on time, went exactly as planned, and they finished when they said the would. Anyone who has worked with many contractors knows these are tasks that are hard to find. In addition, the yard and work area were spotless when they left. The yard looks great and we use it everyday. Luis and his team are a pleasure to work with, and we were not disappointed with the end result. If you have a landscape project on your to-do list, We highly recommend Moonraised for the job.

Secondly, a lot of the current turf looks very realistic and resembles natural grass. Third, I wouldn't have to mow the lawn anymore!! We put out the feelers on Sunday night at 8:30 pm, not expecting to get a reply until Monday morning, but Jacob from Verdigrass responded within 10 minutes! I, along with the wife was impressed by the quick response so we scheduled an estimate with Jacob for Wednesday. Jacob was very accommodating with my work schedule and actually came to my house by 8:00 am. Since Jacob was coming from Vallejo, I knew it was a long distance and he would have to leave very early in the morning, so again, we were impressed. My meeting with Jacob went very well. Since this was my first experience with artificial turf, I had a bunch of questions, which Jacob answered fully. It was also very helpful that he had several samples that I could see and feel. After getting my quote, which came in much lower than another company. We decided to go with Verdigrass due to the experience we had thus far with Jacob. Communication with Jacob was stellar, and he was able to schedule the job for Saturday morning. The material was dropped off on Friday, and Jacob's crew, headed by Juan, arrived at 0730 am, a half hour earlier than the 0800 am start Jacob had mentioned. The crew was efficient and highly knowledgeable and had the job done in approximately 5.5 hours! We could not be happier with our experience with Jacob, Juan and Verdigrass. Now we just have to save up enough money to do the backyard!

Their pricing was very straightforward, with no surprises and extremely reasonable. Kim and David have great ideas and know what they're doing. The structure was poorly executed, and we were left with a frustrating and costly problem. That's when we reached out to Modern Paving. From the very beginning, David, the manager, stood out for his professionalism and deep expertise. He took the time to thoroughly assess the situation, explain the issues in plain terms, and lay out a clear plan to fix the defective construction. What impressed me most was his integrity--he didn't try to cut corners or offer a quick cosmetic fix. Instead, he focused on doing the job right, ensuring the wall would be structurally sound and built to last. The workmanship from David and his team was meticulous. Every detail was addressed, from the foundation work to the finishing touches, and their precision was evident in every step. They approached the project like true craftsmen, combining technical know-how with pride in their work. Modern Paving is not the cheapest option, and frankly, that's a good thing. You are paying for subject matter experts who value quality over speed, and honesty over empty promises. In an industry where it can be hard to find contractors you can fully trust, David and his crew stand out as the gold standard. Their professionalism, skill, and commitment to doing the right thing make them, without question, the best in the area. I would recommend Modern Paving without hesitation to anyone who wants their project done right the first time--or in our case, done right the second time.

He gave some great advice, and, frankly, he is the main reason we went with Synlawn. Installation was quick and done efficiently. Then it all went south! Mario said that it was great for pets, citing drainage and durability. It is not good if you have a puppy, which he knew we had, as puppies love to chew on things and the turf pulls out quite easily. Too, shortly after installation, we thought we had a ripple in the turf possibly due to installation. I contacted Mario and he said he would come by and take a look. We never heard from him again. To be honest, it turned out to be nothing, but, nonetheless, he never reached out again. After a couple of months was saw some discoloration around the fountain. I contacted Billy Bright, and he said it was due to the water from the fountain. He said to try CLR cleaner, which didn't change anything, and then he said to try GooGone, which also didn't work. He said Synlawn was not going to do anything about it, since it was due to the fountain. My point is, since it seems to be a known issue, why wasn't this mentioned at the time of the sale by our salesperson, Mario, with 17 years experience! The fountain has been in place long before the turf sale took place. Seemingly it is always what the salesperson doesn't tell you that comes back to bite you. Everyone was so patient and great. I probably called and talked to them at least 10+ times, Lou even answered my call while on vacation in Mexico! We only bought the turf and infill and used our own contractor to install in Oakland. However, I did about 6-12 months of research and sample gathering across many different turf companies and suppliers (WaterSavers, TigerTurf, SGS in LA, Heavenly Greens, BeeGreen, etc.) and SYNLawn's quality was consistently superior while also providing the most natural look. We also were considering the previous SynBlue 949 (which is no longer being manufactured) as it doesn't seem to require infill and many past customers in our area are extremely happy with it. It's super lush and felt very nice but has more of a yellowish hue when side-by-side with SynBlue 745. We also wanted to compare but weren't able to get a sample of the 545, but ultimately felt good about going with the higher density and face weight of the 745. Unfortunately, Yelp posted my pics in random order but you can see the general before and after. We're so thankful to have a wonderful place space for our kids, and to have found SYNLawn when we did (it was the last turf company I researched after someone recommended them from a neighborhood FB group). OTHER FINALISTS My other finalists were either Dune/Sage from SGS or an unidentified sample from Heavenly Greens. SGS to their credit was honest that those lines were meant for landscaping and may get matted down or have breakage over time with heavy play usage. We didn't enjoy the sales reps from Heavenly Greens and were unfortunately never able to narrow down the name of the sample we liked from them (there were no tags attached). Our neighbors installed Willow from WaterSavers, but it was not as plush or thick underfoot as the SynBlue 745, and not as natural in appearance. Overall, we're thrilled with our decision and hope this long overdue review helps someone else! (Our kids now use the other turf samples as "plates" on the turf when they play "restaurant." :))

After interviewing many landscape pavers, Ideal Engineering stood out for being prompt to all the meetings, willing to visit multiple times to double-check measurements before bidding and were knowledgeable on the current state of available inventory and which showrooms to visit to preview them. Prices were very reasonable and transparent. There were no unplanned mark-ups and all change orders were reviewed and had to be approved by me in advance, so I could budget accordingly. I think this is an advantage of choosing a local paver. The work was efficient and professional - different specialized crews for demolition, irrigation, paving, cleanup were used with their own knowledgeable foremen. Each foremen acted as an available point of contact and communication was easy and friendly. Any texts or calls were usually returned within minutes. The teams were proactive in highlighting any complications or issues that might require design approval to make sure the work they did matched what I had in mind. For example, Pedro, the paver lead felt it was better to create a smooth curve at a corner instead of a straight 90 degree corner, and he was right! The boundaries flowed smoother and nicer with the lawn. The paving work was top-notch. We had decided to install premium pavers from Belgard, and it was important the work was done properly for such an investment. This included grading at the proper slopes for proper drainage, adding weed-resistant fabric, multiple levels of graded stone for proper leveling and polymeric sand for good sealing between pavers. The team helped build custom steps that looked very nice to create easy step-downs and paver edging was done with great style and aesthetics. For a potentially complicated project, I really felt confidence in the team and the process. David also helped offer advise in helping me move and reset our external heat pump units so that they could be reinstalled on top of the pavers. They were able to build conduits to facilitate running irrigation and electricity underneath the pavers for adding drip irrigation of containers and future lighting in our garden. Cleanup was thorough, with parts of our yard reseeded and topped with new topsoil. There was no construction debris left on our lawn or streetside. Everything was swept up. Fence gates that were temporarily removed were re-installed to appear as if nothing ever happened. I would definitely use Ideal Engineering (Ideal Landscape & Concrete) again for future projects.
