Our…read moreold concrete slabs were cracked, and had shifted, altering the drainage of water to flow towards our house. After interviewing many landscape pavers, Ideal Engineering stood out for being prompt to all the meetings, willing to visit multiple times to double-check measurements before bidding and were knowledgeable on the current state of available inventory and which showrooms to visit to preview them. Prices were very reasonable and transparent. There were no unplanned mark-ups and all change orders were reviewed and had to be approved by me in advance, so I could budget accordingly. I think this is an advantage of choosing a local paver. The work was efficient and professional - different specialized crews for demolition, irrigation, paving, cleanup were used with their own knowledgeable foremen. Each foremen acted as an available point of contact and communication was easy and friendly. Any texts or calls were usually returned within minutes. The teams were proactive in highlighting any complications or issues that might require design approval to make sure the work they did matched what I had in mind. For example, Pedro, the paver lead felt it was better to create a smooth curve at a corner instead of a straight 90 degree corner, and he was right! The boundaries flowed smoother and nicer with the lawn. The paving work was top-notch. We had decided to install premium pavers from Belgard, and it was important the work was done properly for such an investment. This included grading at the proper slopes for proper drainage, adding weed-resistant fabric, multiple levels of graded stone for proper leveling and polymeric sand for good sealing between pavers. The team helped build custom steps that looked very nice to create easy step-downs and paver edging was done with great style and aesthetics. For a potentially complicated project, I really felt confidence in the team and the process. David also helped offer advise in helping me move and reset our external heat pump units so that they could be reinstalled on top of the pavers. They were able to build conduits to facilitate running irrigation and electricity underneath the pavers for adding drip irrigation of containers and future lighting in our garden. Cleanup was thorough, with parts of our yard reseeded and topped with new topsoil. There was no construction debris left on our lawn or streetside. Everything was swept up. Fence gates that were temporarily removed were re-installed to appear as if nothing ever happened. I would definitely use Ideal Engineering (Ideal Landscape & Concrete) again for future projects.

We had quite a few areas of yard that were overgrown with weeds - they needed to be cleaned up and replaced with weed barrier and mulch. But again this is no fault of Ben, Ben did an amazing job on my wheels I even had some curb rash damage and it seems like he went above and beyond to correct it because I can't feel the damage anymore on the wheel not sure if he uses some sort of filler before coating but man the wheels look AMAZING!!! We've had no water accumulation during subsequent rainy seasons, protecting our foundation. Nato and crew also helped install our beautiful pergola. The back garden is now more than a garden, it's an outdoor living space for entertaining family and friends. In 2017 and 2020, Nato's crew repaired and stained our back garden fence, resurfaced the decomposed granite paths, installed a new mail box, replaced a garden gate and built a wood shelter for our recology bins. 2023 Nato and crew replaced our gas grill line with a fabulous flexible hose that should last forever. Most recently, 2025, Nato and crew replaced and stained most of our back garden fencing and replaced a wooden post providing structural support for our front porch roof. New photos of the back garden are attached to this review. It has been a pleasure working with Nato and his team for over 20 years!

However, when I was a kid, my dad would take me with him to the hardware store, and I would get a lollypop while he and whomever from behind the counter would wander around looking for an eyebolt or the right shade of caulk. Giulio- who I assume is the owner, is easily 10 years older than my mom, who lives in the assisted living up the street. My mom can't be bothered to go to the chair yoga we're paying for, but Giulio went to work. He's not totally mobile, but he knows his s#!t. Whenever I come in, he or whoever else is behind the counter is happy to chat through my issue and suggest something. It's not a Home Depot- so they may not have what you're looking for every time- but they have a lot of things, and it makes me happy to know my money is staying local. Also, side story: One day during the summer, it's like 90, and I am behind a contractor who's getting a bunch of stuff - lumber, rocks...I don't know- but he's paying for it, and he grabs some water bottles for him and his crew and puts them on the counter. Giulio totals him up and says a number; the guy says, "Oh, don't forget these waters". Giulio says, "The town where I come from in Italy has the best water in the world, and it flows right off the mountain. If my father knew I was charging people for water, he'd come back from the dead and strike me down. Those are free." C'mon. How can you not go here first?

The front of the house from the garage to the sidewalk was torn out and replaced with pavers. I had 2 planter boxes added and we extended the front porch. Because of the grade from the sidewalk to the house, we had a French drain added at the garage (lowest point) which drains to a sump in the backyard. This was to prevent flooding in the garage and around the foundation. The water is then pumped out to the sidewalk. The drain was put to the test this winter and it worked perfectly. During the project Jose was on the job site each day. His crew were very professional and followed through with all the small issues that came up. The pattern they laid down was great and blended perfectly. The porch looks great and so do the planter boxes. Most importantly, the pitch of the entire surface is perfect. The scope was extensive: a large, engineered two-tier retraining wall, large French drain all around my backward, new patio, backyard fence, fire pit with guilt in gas line, front year leveling, front yard fence (curved), new sprinkle system, all new planting including several trees and integrated lighting. The work was intense, requiring months of jack hammering and meticulous concrete work. During the time, Gerardo was a true professional. He sought feedback and guidance when useful, but also of course took care of everything as issues came up including handling countless very detailed and tedious permit reviews. He is transparent with pricing, communicates very effectively, and holds himself and his team to a high-quality standard. The result? Our yard is incredible. It's our forever home and we couldn't be happier. Friends and family say the yard feels like a high-end hotel patio. I would hire Gerardo and Vista Landscaping again in a heartbeat.
