Last weekend, enjoyed a really delicious dinner at Linh Cafe for a friend's birthday. This was at their newer location under the Granville St bridge. I'll add that Google Maps is not your friend when it comes to getting here, cause you would've reached your destination right on the bridge! Key tip is to change to walking directions after getting off the bridge. It was a large group of us so we were able to try a huge variety of items on their dinner menu. We ordered: Wagyu Steak, Whole Lobster, Fried Frog Legs, Mussels, Red Shrimps, Spicy Baguette Sticks, Poutine, Whole Roasted Lamb Legs, Pho Bo, and Tai's Hard Lemonade. Everything was delicious, but I must mention that my favourites were the Fried Frog Legs, Mussels, Spicy Baguette Sticks, and the Pho Bo! Seriously, dipping their bread into the white wine cream of the mussels was SO GOOD (addicting, really). And the garlic butter sauce of the lobster was absolutely ! Just a great meal overall! Just went to their new Vancouver House Granville street location. Hard to find using navigation using street address. It's really just at Granville and Pacific at the intersection. A little strange they installed a handicap lift for a few steps within the restaurant (to washroom) but no handicap assisted auto doors at entrance. Strange requirements by city. Food just as good as always perhaps a touch slower than at old location. Music a little too loud for my taste but overall a pleasant experience as always. Nice high ceiling. Restaurant busy on weekends but weekdays afternoons no waiting. I hope they don't close down the old kits location. read more

Favorite spot over on 4th that has opened this beautiful spacious new location, WOW! they really did a good job, has a very Parisian feel to it. A little tricky to find, as this is a brand new building and Google maps hasn't figured that out yet, basically it is at the corner of Pacific st and Granville st, and just North of the Spinning Chandelier. We went just after lunch time and there was a good amount of street parking available nearby. The mussels were super good, broth was tasty, but not too overbearing, and they were cooked just right, plump and tender. Whole new cocktail menu at this location, as well as addition of Grimbergen a Belgian Dubbel on tap, very tasty! Pho was spot on, and is one of the best I've ever had and comes with a side of their pickled garlic and red peppers. They have a full assortment of desserts to finish of your meal, as well as the accompanying coffee/tea beverages. Forgot our food and sat for at least 45 minutes for phos that they say the order was "mixed up" while other tables that arrived much later got their pho. Our waitress kept ignoring us and she did acknowledge us we asked for things she'd turn around and forget. We've been to Linh Cafe every time we've visited the Vancouver area and it's sad to admit but it's one of the reasons we got NEXUS cards so we could quickly cross the border. Linh Cafe serves Hanoi-style pho that's quite different from the typical southern pho with thicker noodles, richer broth, minimal garnishes, and no sriracha or hoisin sauce. It's not for everyone but it's one of our favorite phos. - Dates of Visit - * 1/22/20, 7/29/19, 4/29/19 - Dishes - * Pho Bo: $14.99 CDN / $11.69 USD. Our favorite. It's rare to come across a French/Vietnamese fusion restaurant in Vancouver, and this cafe definitely does not disappoint! We got many of their signature items and most lived up to their hypes. The highlights of my meal were the pho bo with bone marrow and the deep-fried frog legs. The pho was one the best I've had in Vancouver (must add the chili vinegarette and bone marrow!), having an extremely deep and aromatic flavor without being drenched in MSG. The noodles were on the thicker side which I liked, and the meat was also very tender. The deep-fried frog legs were superrr crunchy, peppery, and garlicky. They kinda reminded me of fish sauce fried chicken wings, but with more concentrated flavors as they were smaller in size. Definitely avoid this if you hate having garlic breath tho :P We also tried the escargot and the dessert maple cake. However, both tasted rather bland compared to the two dishes above. The escargot could also have benefitted from a nicer plating while the cake was almost like a supermarket cake. read more

A Vietnamese and French fusion restaurant that honestly deserves more than 5 stars. Hands down one of the favorite Vancouver restaurant. The spicy baguette was very interesting (think it's liver paste) literally blend of Vietnamese and French cuisine. The mussels are also absolutely amazing especially the sauce is not heavy like some traditional French mussels. Lamb chops are also very very well made and tender. If you like lamb, I highly suggest. My wife made this discovery in IG while scrolling through her fave food bloggers pics. Steak & frites was what she saw. Googled it and drove there for a late lunch/snack. Linh Cafe is a Vietnamese cafe with a French flair. Our orders were Pho Bo ( Hanoi breakfast) with bone marrow, tenderloin steak & fries and 2 iced viet coffees. Pho Bo's soup was delectably good. Makes you wonder how long it took them to make that liquid beefy goodness. And adding, bone marrow to it. Heaven in a bowl. Steak & Fries was supposed to be a 10oz striploin but instead we got a tenderloin. Perfectly cooked to a medium, crispy charred on the outside and hint of reddish in the inside. Fries on the side with garlic Aioli. Nice touch. Their freshly baked brioche was also good. Their ice viet coffees has a strong and deep flavor. If you are a coffee aficionados, this is highly recommended. The Crown of our meal is the pickled garlic and chili. It was soooo good! We bought a bottle, in the end. This was our third visit here and it is still one of my favourite restaurants in Vancouver. PHỞ BÒ: Beef noodle soup with braised beef flank and rice noodles I want to say that I finally find the best pho in town! The soup is lip-smacking and so different from the rest. I believe they take some time to make the soup everyday. Rice noodles are flat style, which is not very common but turns out good. The portion of regular size is quite big and it can be shared by 2 persons. We finished the whole bowl of pho, including every drip of soup, because it tastes too good. Highly recommended to pho fans! Duck Rotisserie: Roasted duck, glazed grapes & apples, duck sauce This main dish made me impressed, although I rarely eat duck. Duck meat is tender and juicy. Linh Café has changed. Not only have prices gone up, but their brunch dishes now include fewer sides, which is disappointing. However, the taste and quality of the food was good as usual. On our most recent visit, we waited about 30 minutes on a Saturday around noon, which was not bad at all. The line did move pretty fast, especially for a table of 2. We ordered the Brittany breakfast and the poutine breakfast. Before, the Brittany breakfast came with fries, and the poutine breakfast came with bread and a side salad. However, they said since prices have gone up, they no longer do this. Brittany breakfast: the sauce is simply amazing. I mopped every single drop of this up with their bread, which was also so good. The sauce tastes kind of like a lobster bisque, and there's tiny shrimp and fish pieces in it. The eggs were light, fluffy, and super delicious. I enjoyed the side salad as well. It was a filling dish, yet it still felt light. Poutine breakfast: definitely a very filling and big portion. You'll have to pack some home. There's plenty of ham and cheese on top. I found the gravy to be too peppery but not bad. I could see myself getting sick of eating this after awhile. Service was friendly but since they were so busy, it wasn't as prompt as we would have liked. It took forever for us to get our bill and pay. The prices are reflected in the quality, it's just sad to see that they used to include more sides. Now you have to pay for it. I do love variety! Stumbled upon this is gem by chance. It was a weekday noon and the place was PACKED. The cassoulet IMHO was slightly better than the braised pork which was already very tender and well flavoured. The meat literally was so soft that you can cut it with a fork. The melting white bean and caramelized vegetables in the cassoulet was what put it over the top. The candied pecans in the beet salad was also a unique combination of sweet and savoury flavours. Finally, we will be back to try the pho. It seemed like at least half of the tables had ordered PHO, and we were so puzzled... The price isn't cheap, and the description doesn't say anything special about it. Fries were AMAZING. Fried to crisp. The bun was slightly chewy on the outside and soft on the inside. It absorbed much of the juiciness and was great. $13.99 Pho tasted great. Nothing spectacular. Interesting they serve the flatter noodle instead of the round types. $15.99? Vietnamese coffee was strong. Although I was hoping for drip style. Just came in for a light meal. The ambiance was so inviting. Had a small bowl of pho and a Vietnamese iced coffee the broth was so fragrant and flavourful. The noodles and beef were the right amount for a light dinner. Added a side of spring rolls to share. Also very good. Crispy and meaty. The meal came with a nice garlic, chilli vinegar condiment for some nice heat. The staff were super friendly and attentive. Loved that. The pho actually tasted more like Taiwanese beef noodle soup than traditional pho - which may sound like a good thing, but it isn't. Good thing I read the reviews prior to going because most of the reviewers raved about the pho, which did not disappoint! Really good broth, brisket was tender, and the thicker noodles complemented the entire bowl. You should try it! We also ordered the mussels in the wine cream sauce -- this one was THE best dish, in my opinion. Their burgers were also just as good because they make their own brioche buns which went very well with the patty and aioli. (I know, why would we order a burger at a Vietnamese place... we have kids and they both wanted burgers and fries, so it was perfect!) My youngest son didn't finish his burger and so I finished it for him because it looked delicious, and I was of disappointed! Perfectly paired with their hand-cut fries as well. Staff was friendly. *Nice attention to details* My first visit to this casual cafe near Kitsilano area, we had brunch. Those familiar with Vietnamese cuisine will know that there is a strong French influence. At Linh, that French personality is prevalent. Food: Feeling rather porkish, I ordered the Toulouse breakfast for $14.95. It came in a cast iron skillet presented rather simplistically - not overly handled. It was all about the food and its flavours. Eggs were poached just nice. Meats were flavourful, soaked in a tangy sauce. The home-made bread was to die for. Crispy crust with a light chewy centre - hard to find west of the Ottawa river. Service: Spot on. Enough attention without being pushy. No attitude either. Wait time: Usually, there is quite a line up whenever I pass by. Luckily, picked a rainy Saturday just before 11am. Got seated right away. The spicy baguette is $3/each with a minimum order of three. I found these to be quite delightful. The mini baguettes warm and crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. The crunch is great to contrast the pate inside. I did remove most of the spicy sauce and it was good for me (low spice tolerance). Quite delicious. The pho bo may seem steep at $15, and if you add the bone marrow slab, it's an extra $4.50. The broth is flavourful, none of that MSG seasoning. SO loved the bone marrow, I found it alright. However the beef slices were very beefy and tender, loved it. The burger ($14) was tasty but nothing to write home about. Quite a small burger, it's like a hockey puck in diameter. The fries were great, super crispy (no soggy ones) and soft on the inside! Food always very good. I always go for brunch and go for the brioche with foie gras- I love the creaminess and I think they're quite generous with the foie gras mousse portion. My boyfriend always gets the pho and that's really good too. The broth is super clear and rich but not in a artificial or overbearing kind of way. I also love that they have a mini pho bowl option. I just really hope they bring back their breakfast poutine !!!!!! It was so good but they took it off the menu. Interior is super nice in the new place and bigger now. My friend and I went here for an early dinner (around 5pm) so we were seated immediately. Although it's a Viet restaurant, we opted for their French dishes instead of the typical pho or banh mi The place is very casual for a semi French restaurant - they have a deli counter with snacks/drinks that you can order to-go. Minimal decorations with plenty of seatings, a clean toilet, and friendly staff French escargot - this app is delicious! It's served on a hot pan which enhanced the garlic scent. The snails came de-shelled so all you have to do is eat and enjoy. It's served on a piece of toasted baguette which had been cooked in butter and garlic, making it very rich and buttery. The snails are mixed with pieces of tomatoes and a type of herb (I think cilantro). To me, the taste of the snails was lost in this dish because of the other flavours My friend got the Vancouver breakfast - it looked nice but I'm sure it's the same everywhere else. I didn't try it I got the cassoulet which consisted of duck confit, in house sausage, pork confit, and white beans. The presentation of the dish is eye catching! Served in a hot pan and there's also a side salad with 3 pieces of baguette for you to soak up the goodness of the sauce. I'm not a fan of duck or beans but this dish was really well prepared - all the flavours complimented each other to give the dish a nice earthy tone. Portion: 2-3 people Britanny Breakfast (4/5) - $19.95 Taste: More of a unique dish - I enjoyed the lingcod though for a piece of fish I would have preferred it cooked a different way. Finally had the chance to come and try out this place after seeing so many different reviews on this. This place is jam packed so come early or make a reservation if you can! * Spring Roll ($13) ~ it was good and crunchy, it came with 6 pcs cut up, and it had a side of sauce which complimented the spring rolls nicely. * Country terrine ($21) ~ foie gras was ok, it wasn't as buttery as I thought it would've been. * French escargot ($18) ~ very delicious 100% recommend there wasn't much escargot however that sauce was chef kiss! * Steak tartar ($22) ~ yummy, it was nice and light compared to the other appetizers, it was on the smaller side but flavors were good. * Duck rotisserie ($35) ~ this was delicious, it was a roast duck with a lot of sauce, and paired with seasoning that was out of this world. It was a bit messy to eat, and it did have big bones so it wasn't a lot of meat. * New York steak and fries ($59) ~ This was a 12oz steak, served with crispy golden French fries. The steak was cooked perfect medium rare, and was super tender, and chewy. * Pho Bo ($18) & Mini Pho Bo ($11) ~ we got 2 sizes of pho to compare, and 100% getting the bigger one to share, the broth was good and flavourful, it wasn't too salty, but very fragrant in the bone broth. The noodles were good and chewy, and the meat on the pho was amazing. * Shaking beef ($29) ~ The beef was served with a side of rice, and it was delicious and well seasoned. The beef was tender and soft, and the rice was so good with the beef pairing. * Also got 2x gin & tonic ($12.95/each), madison's drink ($8) - don't do it legit apple juice with blueberries save your $ , 2016 Fat Bastard Syrah France Red Wine ($10.95). * 7/10 ~ overall it was good, the escargot, pho, and shaking beef was the star of the night, portion size ranges from what you get. Brunch Review We were finally in the Kits area so decided to try the brunch here The wait was around 20 min so we went for a walk Thanks to the pictures posted on Yelp, I decided on the Brittany Breakfast - it looks like my kind of dish I really like how this dish had many components to it - the seafood in the fish veloute, the bread for dipping the sauce, crispy fries and mayo and the light green salad to balance out the richness of the veloute. Ambiance is good and pretty much an instagrammable restaurant that if you want to take good photo and post it. Pho was the better ones compared to the others. Escargot and banh mi were okay. This is a spot that I've read and heard about and was on my list of restaurants to try. Was looking for a lunch spot and being in Kits this day there were so many options. Pulled up trusty Yelp and located Linh's about a block away. When we arrived we noticed it was a smaller place, had COVID spaced seating and for the areas that couldn't space out there were the partitions. Safety, check! We were sat immediately, but it was fairly busy for a late lunch. There was a big chalk board listing out some pre-order party options and dine in dishes as well. This is not your usual Vietnamese restaurant, it's more French with a splash of Vietnamese. We ordered two bowls of their Pho Bo and an appetizer of Chicken Liver with Dijon Mustard sauce. When the Pho Bo came it didn't look like much as the bowl was smaller than normal Pho, but don't be underestimating this bowl...it was probably one of the most flavorful bowl of broth I've tasted. Rich in beef flavor and so satisfying, the noodles were under the sea (soup) and when I went looking for the noodles, there was quite a bit. It came with braised beef flank, but can also add different types of meat for additional $$. You could also order a mini size, looking back maybe it was a better idea to have ordered a mini size. Chicken liver with Dijon Mustard sauce. First time I have tried this. For an appetizer it was large, share with two or more people. The server have us bread but also gave us another loaf for free. It was warm and soft..nice! Back to the chicken livers...wow....worth the order and price. So many pieces of liver, they were cooked so well, tender and yummy. The sauce was very rich and creamy and so were the livers too. You can clearly taste the Dijon mustard sauce, but it's not over powering at all. Highly recommend if you like liver and the texture.
