PLEASE AVOID THIS PLACE!!! How they have received numerous "best of" awards is a shocker! My wife and I went in for exams based on a recommendation from someone who lives locally and what a disappointment. We felt like cattle going into the slaughter - just a number, actually a dollar sign. They've created a high-volume machine - a system to push patients thru with no personal customer service. To top it off, we had to go back in repeatedly to correct our prescription as it was not done correctly the first time. RECOMMENDATION: take the time to drive to Brand Optometry in Glendale. Found them too little to late but wow, they came through with exceptional service, professionalism and made us feel like family!!! read more

This place is a factory, big volume business. They have a large selection of glasses. Seem pretty organized and operationalized but somehow still pretty slow. It always takes a long time to get examined, even when you have an appointment. It also has taken me a long time to pick up contacts that were delivered. It always takes a long time to pay for anything. I've had positive experiences with the doctors, once I was finally seen. I've had a positive experience with a tech that very patiently helped me adjust my glasses. To be fair, I've tended to come in at the end of the year, when half the city is here. So maybe your experience will be better if you come outside of the busy season. Definitely bring something to do just in case. read more

It does feel DMV-like, but I got one cool Asian chick doctor actually, very talkative and accessible, probably cuz I dont fit the general type who goes there (ghetto families, apparently). The follow-up was with a completely different doctor. They did try to sell me a million boxes of contacts cuz it's cheaper, but I said no and it was fine. We are from Canada, and currently spending a couple months in Pasadena. We had just replaced the arm of my teenage son's glasses 2 weeks ago, but shortly after arriving in Pasadena, it came apart. We were frustrated as it was just replaced. A good friend here in Pasadena recommended Linden Optometry. We walked in this afternoon, took a number and 15 minutes later, had service. (in the meantime, he had fun trying on glasses :) A nice young woman looked at them, and in 2 minutes tops, replaced the screw and had them in perfect condition, even better than when we left Canada. I asked how much, and she said, it was a FREE service!!! My son was thrilled to have his glasses back and said they're even more comfortable. this place deserves o stars! it is the worst place ever! so how about I pick ray ban frames & added my prescription to them. I arrive to pick them up & to my surprise "ray ban" in no where on the frame! Me: O wait? Where's the logo? Are you sure these as my glasses? Employee: Yes! They are yours..You had to pay more for the logo to be added on. Me: More than the $500 I just paid?? Employee: Yes! Me: WHAT? let me speak to the manager. Me: So I purchased blank ray ban frames at full ray ban price? Manager: YES. Me: I've never heard of this & I own other Ray Ban's...also, if this is something that you have to ask to be added since it's an ADDITIONAL price to add the designer name to the designer frame you picked out then where is this posted in the store? Manager: It's not posted in the store or online, it's common sense. Manager: Honestly I don't see what's the big deal?! you can see out of the frames right? so why does it matter if it says "Ray Ban" or are you addicted to designer? Nice place - at first I was attracted my the large store and many staff members. But I won't be back. The first step of their process (sales) is smooth, fast, and encouraging. But after you've paid, their level of service drops hugely. I've filled two prescriptions here and had the same experience both times. I would never buy anything at Linden Optometry again. On July 7/7/19 after waiting two hours, and being handed from one rep to another. We settled with a helper named Bianca. I requested a supervisor or manager and no such personnel came out to help or discuss my order. My situation was never resolved. I've been a regular customer here for ten years and there's no way, I would recommend this place to anyone. Every time I've used their services for prescription eyeglasses I've said, "never again." First, because their selection of glasses are weak, and second their designs are old. This time, was to be the last try, I should've known better. First, they didn't have the most popular Ray Ban clubmaster eyeglasses in stock, (whereas most stores have at least 15 in every color in stock) So we had to order them in. Without seeing or trying them on, no confirmation on what size I would need ? They charged me in full and told me to wait ten days until the prescription and frames came in. I paid for the total order at the cost of $450. No problem. They had my size and prescription on file, however for some reason they ordered a small size frame, they never asked me what size I need. I figured it came in one size. It's their job to ask. In addition, I waited 3 weeks and no call or updates ever. The frames just wouldn't arrive??? After the 2nd call I was told they were coming in from "overseas" and they couldn't give me an approximate date. Not a single call was made to reach out to explain when they would arrive and be ready? I had to call them each time. I called in at least 4 times to check? These are eyeglasses needed for living, not leisure. No one ever knew if they were arriving? Every time there was a different excuse. I wasn't getting anywhere on the phone. I went into the store to explain my situation. Had the worst experience in the store. After two hours, and asking to cancel my order Bianca asked me to pay a restocking fee on glasses that never came in? They were well aware of my size, commonly between 52-54" yet the order was placed in 49" This was an issue that could've easily been resolved. They could've arranged to get the larger size to swap or perhaps keep the sample in store, with the range of business and clients. The lenses weren't even placed in the frames yet. Instead Bianca expected me to pay for the "error in the order". The glasses never came into the store. I don't believe they were even ordered, yet I had to pay for the potential restocking fee. She charged me $50 for a restocking fee. I felt robbed. Never, ever, consider buying your eyeglasses here. The staff is very rude! They charged me for an item that never came in? I couldn't believe the disrespectful attitude, the bad customer service, and complete carelessness. If you're looking for bad service, rude employees, old products, by all means buy your eyeglasses here. read more

Just don't. Save yourself the time and just don't bother to come here. The chances of this place screwing up your order is extremely high. Unfortunately, I didn't listen to fellow yelpers and learned the hard way. When your business has over 500+ reviews and is still only 3-stars, there's an obvious issue. There are even more 1-star reviews than 5 stars! Finding a place that carried frames for little children (and I mean, "little," as my daughter is 2.5yo) was extremely hard. We came to Linden based on a referral. We were suggested a children's optical store in Monrovia by our daughter's optometrist but due to our own time constraints, we went with what was local to us and boy, were we disappointed. We had an eye exam/prescription from CHLA so all we need was to pick out a pair of frames and order the glasses for my daughter. At first impression when I walked in, I was mesmerized by the vast selection of frames (adult's & children's). They had almost every brand you can imagine. In fact, this was the largest optical store I have ever been to...YAY for selection (the only thing going for them). But what they lacked was the personalization of the experience, customer service and professionalism from service rep, Fay. Being first time parents of a toddler that needs glasses at such a young age was already overwhelming news enough. Unfortunately, our very first experience for such an important event in my daughter's life (and ours) was ruined by Fay. Not only was she rude, she also rushed us through the ordering process and gave us minimal assistance. She would leave us for a great deal of time and only checked back in when we were ready to order. She barely offered any advice and when she finally did about the frames (because we kept asking), we took it, as we believed she was the "expert." 2 weeks later we went back in to pick up our little girl's glasses and Matthew helped us. He was much friendlier than Fay and when we pointed out that the wrong frames were ordered, he asked if we'd like to check with Fay. Almost 30 mins later, I had to ask someone to speak with Fay. She came out and immediately became defensive as soon as I politely told her about the wrong frames. She insisted that this was the pair we ordered. As we reminded her of our conversation 2 weeks ago, she immediately said, "well, that was my suggestion at the time and you didn't have to listen to me." Who's the one that was suppose to provide guidance here? Unbelievable! She tried to tell us that she can "fix" the problem by just ordering the correct pair because we "didn't like" the existing pair. NO! It was NOT because we didn't like the existing pair; it was because YOU ordered it wrong! She completely shifted the blame to the customer and didn't take ownership of her mistake. When we asked her to return the glasses, she got upset and said, "WHATEVER" and stomped over to Matthew to ask him to help us instead. Our entire conversation with Fay occurred while we were on the sales floor with other customers looking on. So unprofessional. We would have gladly exchanged the glasses for the other pair, but because of her attitude, we will take our business where it's welcomed. read more

I would never recommend this place to anyone. I had a horrible experience from start to finish. When I went in for my eye exam, all of the equipment was filthy. The lenses they had me look through to find my new prescription were filled with dust, so I couldn't even really tell if "A" or "B" was more clear or not. The exam was rushed, and the optometrist never closed the door to the exam room or turned off the lights. It felt very impersonal. After I was finished, I didn't feel welcome to look at glasses because I was told the place was about to close. I decided to come back the next day. It was next to impossible to get a sales person to unlock the glasses I wanted to try on, and almost all of the frames are locked up. The sales person kept disappearing, and I kept having to find him in order to unlock another pair of frames I wished to try on. It was a terribly uncomfortable selection process, and the sales staff were hardly helpful. Finally, I decided on a pair of glasses and a pair of sunglasses. My insurance covered a large portion of my first pair of glasses, and I was supposed to get 20% off any subsequent pair, but as I found out later, they never applied that discount. Also, they told me my sunglasses that were not covered by insurance would come much quicker than those that were...strange. I've never had that happen before. They told me my sunglasses (not covered by insurance) would be ready in a week, and my glasses (covered by insurance) would be ready in about 2 weeks. 2 weeks seemed a little excessive, but I paid for both and left. I got a call in a five days for my sunglasses, and I came in to pick them up. When you pick up frames, you take a number like you're at a meat counter, and you wait FOREVER. Finally, they called my number and they brought my frames to me (which took another 5-10 minutes). The lenses were THICK like coke-bottle glasses. I'm 25 years old, and I'd prefer not to look like I'm Mr. Magoo and blind as a bat. Since the sunglasses I had received from another optometrist were perfectly thin, and my prescription had hardly changed, I was shocked by this outcome. I asked them to remake the lenses, and they reluctantly agreed while trying every way they could to explain their way out of their terrible craftsmanship (even by telling me the frames I chose were too big to accommodate my request...oh, so it's my fault?). About a week later, I came back a second time, this time to pick up my glasses and remade sunglasses. The glasses were fine! I love them still, and I am pleased with the way they made the lenses perfectly thin for my prescription... I'll give them that. However, for some reason, I could not see out of the sunglasses. I thought my eyes needed to adjust so I took them with me, but my eyes never adjusted to the sunglasses. I came back a third time to explain my issue with the sunglasses. Turns out, instead of making the lenses thinner with the correct prescription, they changed the center of vision on the glasses, so it would be impossible for me to see correctly out of them with the way they sat on my nose. So, AGAIN, I asked them to remake the lenses. They once AGAIN reluctantly agreed not before they tried to explain their way out of their obvious mistake. I came back a fourth time, and this time to find out they only remade ONE LENS!! This way, one lens was back to being coke-bottle thick, and the other thin. I was done. I was furious. I demanded a refund...which took forever. They got a manager who said he could not give me a full refund despite all that I had been through. He was still going to charge me a $70 restocking fee!! I was livid. In anger, and not wanting to escalate the situation any further, I agreed to pay the $70 just to NEVER have to deal with the place again. To top it all off, their payment system is so old that they couldn't refund a charge made on an ATM card. They had to mail me a check the following day! I am still waiting on my refund check in the mail... So, I truly hope that this long review is enough to prove to you that I had a TERRIBLE experience with Linden Optometry, and I would never, ever recommend anyone to this place. I been here for 3 annual exams and won't be coming back. I came here because of distance convenience and because they accepted my eye insurance. The only reason I give this place 2 starts it's because the receptionist are always very nice and stars the store does have a huge frame selection. However, their doctors always seem to be in a rush , they provide poor service ( I had to go back several times to get my eye prescription right) . Their contact lenses are overprice and every time you go in here you waste 1-3 hours. Overall , the receptionist are very nice but the doctors are overbooked and do not take the time they should on your eyes. read more

Made an appointment for 2:30 which I was told was a slow time with minimal wait. It's now 3:30 and I'm still sitting in the waiting room. I didn't even ask to see a specific optometrist, just first available. While the staff is friendly and checked on the optometrist's availability, the optometrists are backed up and no one could tell me how long the wait would be. Waiting wouldn't be as bad if the waiting room was at least clean and comfortable. The chairs in the waiting room are uncomfortable, old and dirty with torn arms. Once they finally called me back after an hour and 20 minutes the optometrist had no personality and barely spoke to me besides asking "1 or 2" "3 or 4"? On my return visit to pick up my contacts, I was again told there was an hour wait, but I could reschedule for the next day and see the optometrist immediately...it's now 30 minutes past my appointment time and I'm back in the old, ripped chairs waiting... As a response: To be specific, the armrests of the chairs are worn and ripped, not the seats. read more

After 3 times driving here, the manager turns and says the tech that has to drill holes in the lens is off today....??? The whole linden optometry with 300 employees only has one person that drill hole in lenses! So when this tech quits, they have no back up person and can't do business....ridiculous! And nobody even bothered to call me and tell me this tech is off and do not come waste your time from 8am in the parking lot till we tell you at 10am we don't have no one here to drill holes...and nobody could call me say do not drive here on your Saturday and have any courtesy to tell me ahead of time...this is on top of everything they charge 200$ more than any other optometry place...no wonder they have 2.5 stars read more

My family and I have been going to this place for YEARS. However, the quality had dipped so low over the past two years. The waiting room is always packed and the seating arrangements are horrible. Once I got in to see a doctor he was very suggestive as to what slide was clearer he would say things like "this one is clearer right?" when I didn't agree but this made me lean more toward his answer. Once I was about to leave I asked him what my vision is like when people say "20/20" and in an effort to rush me out of the room he said "you see 20/20" and just walked away. Once I got my prescription I went out to try out glasses and THE MAJORITY OF THE GLASSES ARE LOCKED TO THE DISPLAY. This means that in order to try on glasses someone either has to follow you around the entire time to unlock the glasses when you want or you have to keep asking them over and over every time you want to try on a pair of glasses. Also, I was assigned to a woman to go over which pairs we were buying and she left us waiting for a very long time and was working with someone else already. I had a pair of glasses I really likes and just wanted lenses but she kept pushing and urging me to buy new frames as well. The overall process was very messy and EXTREMELY UNCOMFORTABLE. The worst part was definitely the locked up glasses. I would look around and see SO MANY people trying to take the glasses off the display only to awkwardly realize they're locked on. This place used to be nice and classy I don't know what happened. I will definitely be looking for a new optometrist. read more

Best place for glasses!! The whole staff is great and courteous. The receptionist walks you to the second waiting area in the back, the staff there is wonderful. They get you checked and ready for your exam. After the exam you go out to the sales floor and behold a plethora of glasses, from cute to funky anything you want you will find it here. I tried this place for my new pair of prescription glasses, I am deeply unhappy with the customer service, glasses took over 2 weeks then I had to wait again for 30+ minutes just to try them on in front of the slowest moving person I have ever seen. In fact, im writing this review while watching this sloth in a blue coat slumberly look for a customers glasses, in my opinion the selection is too large. pricing color and number system is confusing, I suspect, so you find the pair you can't live without, then they shock you with the price. Glasses i thought would cost me $100 ended up costing $300!Parking sucks, and it looks like too many employees are just standing around chatting or wiping glasses as opposed to helping waiting customers. I really don't like this place yet I keep going back here. Why? They have a large selection of frames, they have reasonable hours, and they can make glasses relatively quickly. On the downside, they're not cheap, unless you go in with one of those ads from the Penny Saver. The people that work there are nice, but it is so crowded that they don't seem to be able to provide very personalized attention. If you want personal attention and more of a special atmosphere, go to Specstacular in Old Town. Best optical service I've ever had. Steve (the owner) took one look at me and suggested three different frames, all of which looked cool. I was very satisfied there. It was very expensive though, and it took like a week to get the glasses. I am about to leave on a trip and I need sunglasses. So I am headed to Linden because I know I can have them by tomorrow. I first visited Dr. Linden more than thirty years ago when they were a much smaller place located few blocks away and I was in college. Today, this place is much bigger... However, service is the worst I've seen for an Optometry. No one knows what the others are doing, decisions have to be made by two levels up. Long wait time, 30 days for a pair of normal glasses to be ready and yet they still make manage to screw things up. I will never come back here again. Came back in and Danielle was amazing she figured out what I was seeing in a matter of minutes.. Fe came over to see what had happened and they both saw what I was seeing.. The only reason this place gets one star is because negative stars are not available. Avoid at all costs!!! Had to wait 45 minutes past my scheduled appointment time just to be seen by an assistant. I am informed that on top of the $79 eye exam fee, there will be an additional $59 "Contact Lens Fitting" fee....even though I am not ordering contacts and just interested in the eye exam. I've been going to Linden Optometry for over 10 years now. The doctors have come and gone. That being said, I do recognize a lot of the staff. I had an appointment at 6:15pm on a Friday, and I wasn't seen until 7:15pm, despite showing up at 6:15. You know what? I don't mind. I was off from work and wasn't in a hurry. That being said, the selection of frames is excellent. They have more frames and brands than most optometrists ever have. So it makes choosing what works for you that much easier. read more

Each and every time I've been there and had to wait well over 6 weeks to get my glasses. When I'm there, they always tell me that my glasses will be in in 3 weeks and that they'll call me. Three weeks comes and goes and there's no call. When I call to follow up, there's always an issue... Oh there was a problem at the lab, we are waiting to put the blue coat on, excuse after excuse after excuse. This time I waited over six weeks to get my glasses. I called today and I'm told that they are not in and to call back on Monday. At that point I demand to speak to a manager. The manager calls me back about an hour later and I explain the situation to her. I explained that I am extremely unhappy and that it is impossible for me to work without my glasses. She then put me on hold, comes back to the phone and says all your glasses are here you can come in and pick them up now. I don't know what the hell is going on there but I will never ever set foot in Linden Optometry again. I've been going to Linden Optometry for over five years now, trying to give them the benefit of the doubt because they do have a large selection of frames, however this was the last straw. I'll begin by admitting I'm friggin' pissed at this f-ing place! Such a stupid idiotic thing that ends up completely wasting my time could have so easily been avoided! I went for an eye exam and glasses. I looked for frames while waiting for them to call me for the exam. I found none that I liked, so I decided to try other places like Walmart or Costco to see what they had, and possibly even online. But from past experience when buying glasses online, there are specific items needed in the vision correction prescription that sometimes are not given to us for some reason. So, when I got my exam, I SPECIFICALLY asked her to write down EVERYTHING I might possibly need to order my glasses correctly, and I even showed her a screen capture for one of the online glasses stores and what they ask for when entering in the prescription information. For progressive lenses, which I need, there are a few extra items needed So it turns out there is one item she did not write down, and left blank on my prescription. NOT GOOD! So I'm online shopping, and I've got the live chat guy for the place I was shopping at waiting for me in a chat while I call Linden's to clarify what should have already been clarified since I specifically asked for all the info I might possibly need. The receptionist said she could not give me that information and only one of the doctors could. She said they'd call me back. I told her I'm in the middle of a chat with support and I need the info right away. So 40 minutes later I still haven't been called back. I call again, relating my disgust in the whole situation in having to call in the first place and also for not having been called back. She blamed a computer problems as the culprit, which is BS since all this is written down and filed the old fashioned way, no computers involved. Anyway, she said they still have to call me back as she could not answer me herself. So another amount of time goes by (I was working and did not time it), and I received my call with the info I needed. LINDEN OPTOMETRY: Treat your customers with respect and courtesy and stop wasting their time!!! I took the time in advance and made the effort to ask for exactly what I needed, and was not given that. Something sooooooo easily avoided wasted my time and severely pissed me off. Refund the $34 charge you just charged me for that extra test insurance doesn't cover for my time and aggravation! read more

I've been coming here for about three years. It hasn't always been my favorite place, but today just confirmed it. I purchased a pair of glasses about six months ago, it's been the cheapest pair so far. I've had them adjusted twice , they fall off and pull my hair. I finally went in the lady at front desk was rude and short, the lady that helped me had no social skills or made an effort to see a happy customer. I went to Linden for the first time in February of this year based on a positive referral. However, after my experience with customer service after the fact, I will not be going there again. Just to be clear, I have no complaints about the optometrists who saw me. I ordered contact lenses, and paid for them upon ordering. I was told that my insurance covered a large portion of it, and that I was all paid up on my remaining balance. On Sunday, April 10th--two months after my visit, I get a call from Linden stating that I have a balance due because of a miscalculation error and the person who called me said I had to pay right away over the phone. First of all, they called me on weekend, not to mention a Sunday, and second of all, they called me while I was on vacation and wanted a cc number over the phone to pay right away! I told them I was out of town and for them to send me an invoice--either via mail or email and I would be happy to pay the remaining balance. I never received an invoice. I get another call one week later, yet again on Sunday saying that if I don't pay over the phone right now, that my balance due was going to collections (mind you, the outstanding balance was a miscalculation error on THEIR PART, not mine; yet they're demanding payment from me as if I was the one who miscalculated the payment amount)! I kindly told the lady that I was at the store, and that I was not going to give out my cc number over the phone in public! I told her they should be more considerate of people's times and stop calling them on weekends. I also said that I had told them the last time they called to SEND ME AN INVOICE, and I'd be glad to pay it! Yet again, apparently that's not normal custom for this place. How would I know that my additional payment was going towards an actual balance owed, or into the pockets of some of these employees? I cannot tolerate unprofessionalism, and I will not be returning to this place, regardless of the fact that I liked the optometrists. Needless to say, they called me today (Monday) to take my payment over the phone, which I gave to them. I also asked if I'd AT LEAST be receiving a receipt, she said "yes." But no receipt in sight. -5 Stars The exam experience was wonderful. However, the experience of eyewear & lens shopping was the worst experience imaginable. Before even introducing herself a super obnoxious 'sales' woman named ZULMA comes over & picks up the glasses that were on the table & says these are $270 after a rep had just quoted me $95. I let her talk then I mentioned they just told me they were $95. She instantly rolled her eyes & said well they lied, they're $270. She then wrote a bunch of meaningless numbers on a blank sheet. Did not explain the differences in lenses nor what my options were. She solely said this is the price, take it or leave it. She then gets up & says she will find me a cheaper pair. Leaves for 10min then comes back with a different lady to assist me. At this point I see her walk away & nod. Then she turns around & mocks me behind my back. Mind you we are in an optometrist, there are mirrors everywhere! I didn't say anything because she obviously was seeking attention. Instantly following this uncomfortable interaction, as I am sitting there I see her talking to a group of staff members as she points my way & they all look back at me. I felt extremely uncomfortable knowing these so called 'professionals' are feet away from me clearly talking about me. I have never been treated in such a poor manor. I did not walk in there asking for freebies. I was paying cash for an exam, frames & lenses. I will never go back to this business & I will ensure that my family never steps a foot in there. ZULMA is the definition of unprofessionalism & please avoid the humiliation of being insulted for no apparent reason whatsoever. If it were up to me, I would give them 0 stars, but the system won't post my review unless I give at least one star. I have been coming to Linden Optometry since 2006 and I have seen how the customer service has gone downhill over the years. On August 25, I went to the website and scheduled an appointment to have my glasses adjusted for today, August 31 at 11:30 am. I received an email the following morning telling me that my appointment had been rescheduled to August 31 at 11:50 am. When I showed up this morning, I was told that I had they had no record of my appointment. A gentleman told me they had no record of my appointment. It wasn't until I showed him the email confirmation that he realized I did have an appointment. He told me he could try to fit me in but it would be 45 minutes. I am on my lunch hour mind you. I showed up at my scheduled time. Is it too much to ask that my appointment be honored? While he went to see what he could do, another woman attempted to "help." She insisted I had no appointment. She suggested that I wait and if I have to leave, to come back before they close. I explained I had a flight to catch this evening. The woman seemed annoyed and did not care. She said she could take them to a technician tighten them up, but that was all they could do for me. It would serve no purpose to have them tightened without having a technician see me and check the fit. So they had me over a barrel and they knew it. So I sat down and my lunch hour is officially over. And people who arrived after me are being seen, yet I still sit here. No one seemed to care about my predicament. I used to go out of my way to come to Linden Optometry because of the customer service. What I experienced today is horrible customer service. The heart and soul of Linden Optometry customer service, where you were made to feel a valued customer, is gone and you are treated as an annoyance. Avoid going there! read more
