This place is absolute chaos. Overcrowded, dirty waiting areas. I was moved rooms at least 6 times during my appointment. The doctor seemed competent enough but the rest of the experience was so bad I will not go back. Oh, and they won't send you an electronic copy of your prescription. Dr. Wong is all around amazing eye doctor. However, the wait at Linden Optometry is unbelievably long. They always make you wait twice. You sit in the waiting room for a bit then call you in for the eye exam. They then make you wait forever before seeing the doctor. If you get glasses, they make you wait again. I can't say enough great things about Jacsia, the manager, who is extremely knowledgeable in optic care. She took care of me throughout the whole process from helping me pick my frames to making sure they were the perfect fit when I picked them up. Your review helps others learn about great local businesses. My wife and me both went to linden. She picked eyeglasses for me. And the lady at linden said those are not for guys. You need a square lens. So we didn't get the eyeglasses we wanted. We were nice and said ok, didn't know that. Then, she took her free exam through MediCal and they referred her an opthamologist. We went to opthamologist and he said come back in 6 months for surgery you might need. But then referred us to a different optometrist because my wife lens was very dirty and quite yellow. Since her lens was from 2013. That she got at linden. Then the new optometrist needed the new prescription. So we call linden to fax it. It took 2 hours! The new optometrist very shocked of the bad service. Then linden fax over request for records. In 2 mins we fax it back signed by wife. Also, to mention, my wife has Deslyxia. To make this story more horrifying. Linden never fax records back. The new optometrist say let's try tomorrow, usually we transfer records over the phone and no hassle, and she said she called opthamologist to see if they have a prescription, but they said no we are an MD. We don't make prescriptions. We are not optometrist. Only surgery. I was so mad when the new optometrist had to close. They said very nice. We will keep fax on all night. So then I called linden from my phone in my car. And said to talk to a supervisor, she was so rude. I started to yell and scream. She said opthamologist you went to has prescription, because you went and had an exam, and to blame them for not having a prescription, because she said she doesn't have aprescription, because the exam she did was never finalized, because the optometrist referred her to an opthamologist, so then when she finished with the opthamologist that linden is giving her a free exam. Such a courtesy. And then she said if I give you prescription from 2013 they can't make that lens because it's more than two years old. I said don't blame the opthamologist and make up a dumb two year law, and if so I'm just trying not to play by the books, my wife has Deslyxia and her lens is yellow and dirty and the opthamologist agreed so he referred me to this new optometrist, and so I want a prescription for her. So then she said ok, I will send the old prescription. I didn't believe her, so I went with my wife to linden at 7 from Alhambra I was in a hurry they were still open. I asked for all medical records. Because I went to opthamologist and they said we don't have a prescription but it's your right to have your records! And so at linden I asked for both mine and my wife all medical records and copies of them in my hand. Then the front desk lady said I don't know if there is a doctor to approve this. Which was the excuse for the 2 hour wait! So I said I will wait, I'm sure there is a nice doctor to come and approve this or a supervisor. I was happy that we finally got it, went to the new optometrist with the prescription from 2013 and they made her new eyeglasses! Yay! But still they used the free exam at linden without a prescription so it's another long wait because of linden. The opthamologist said there is no worry to have an up to date prescription. But will wait and we both will go to this new optometrist. So long linden. I'm doing business somewhere nice professional and caring! read more

This is the best optometry office I've ever been to. My family and I have been going here for 3 years and it's always an great experience. Free WiFi, snacks, coffee. The wait time is reasonable and the doctors are friendly. Amazing staff. Saida is the best! She is a great help in helping pick out glasses that are the best fit for you and whatever budget you may have. She walks you through the process of ordering glasses (i.e. if you want anti-reflective, transition lenses, etc.), and genuinely cares that you have a positive experience. Even coming back to pick up glasses or get them adjusted, if you happen to see her in passing, she always says hi and asks how you're doing. Overall, this is a fantastic place with great service. Good selection of frames BUT getting them was not worth the hassle. there are about a million people in the store at any one time, you have to take a number and wait 20 minutes just for someone to help you. the first time they made my glasses, the prescription came out completely wrong, I had to go back for another eye exam, spend more hours in there dealing with them. in all, it took me four long visits to finally get my glasses. my wife had a similar experience, plus her lenses scratched up within days because of faulty antiscratch coating. in all, we probably spent about 20 hours combined just trying to get our eyewear. read more

I first visited Linden in 2007 because I had been to two other optometrist to fit me for contacts and both had done a terrible job. When I visited in 2007, I made an appointment and was taken back within 15 minutes of my appointment time. The doctor was very helpful and helped me find the perfect contacts (it only one return visit). To this day I still wear the same contact brand. I also purchased glasses at that time, they gave me plenty of time to pick out of my glasses, I found the ones I wanted (the sales people were not pushy at all). Yes they offered everything they could, but when I said no, they were ok with it. The place is drastically crowded, but it is well organized from my perspective, but I have never had to sit at the waiting area at the front of the store. I just returned to Linden this past weekend (June 2009) to update my prescription. I was in at noon and out by 1pm on a Saturday. This included the doctors appointment (the new prescription), contacts fitting and shopping for eyeglasses. I highly recommend them if you know what you are getting into. Make sure to know what your insurance provides and make sure to make an appointment, it goes a lot faster that way. In my experience, the waiting time is not horrible, but if you are in a hurry this isn't your place. read more

Although Linden serves a lot of customers, my daughter and I were helped at every step in the process. We were greeted with smiles and had our questions answered knowledgeably. I was especially pleased with the extra help given to me by Marley, one of the floor supervisors. Not only did he help me with insurance questions but also provided me with services not included in my fitting, such as adjusting some sunglasses I had bought elsewhere. picked up new glasses today with progressive lenses. Have never used them before. The clerk who brought them to me provided no service whatsoever -- did not check to see if the frame fit properly, only mentioned that it would take time to adjust to using them. Thankfully a friend came along and helped me figure out whether I could use them. Right now they keep slipping down my nose. I could just as easily received them in the mail which Warby Parker intends to offer as a service. Must be predictive of the future. I've been coming to Linden for about 10 years now, so I never had to Yelp this place... and I was surprised it had such a low score. I don't typically use Yelp to post reviews, but Linden deserves a 5 for their customer service alone. I just came here recently for my annual checkup and had to get contacts & glasses. I had to call in ahead of time for some questions regarding the insurance--and they were extremely helpful and got the answer I needed. They do have multiple departments, but they will get you to the person who knows what you need. Besides the phone interaction, the convenience to just walk in and get an appointment is by far one of the best reasons I come here. There is a wait, but if you're busy and not sure when you might have time to schedule ahead, then Linden is the place to go. Once you get in, they do shuffle you around to get various items completed (initial eye review, eye checkup, contact fitting, glasses fitting, and purchasing), but at the end of the day--it's a business. They are fast and efficient, but they slow down to answer all your questions. If I did had any issues/questions, I just walked up to any of them, and they either helped or told me who can assist me. Oh my gosh! I don't know what is going on with this place. I made appointments for my daughter and myself during the week. The purpose of making appointments is so that you don't need to wait for a long time, right? If you know you are going to be there a certain time, then you can plan out the rest of your day to do other things, correct? I wasn't seen by a doctor until 45 minutes after my appointment time. I even had to ask the receptionist when I was going to be seen. The same thing happened with my daughter. My daughter got contact lenses. After you put the lenses in, they have a doctor check the fit. Well, we waited about 40 to 45 minutes for a doctor to check the fit. Usually, a doctor will check the fit within 10 minutes. My daughter also got glasses. We have been waiting for over two weeks for the glasses. I finally called yesterday to follow up on them and the girl that helped me tells me they are ready. So why didn't they call to let me know. I know it doesn't take them that long to put lenses on the frame. We were not happy with this visit at all. We were there for almost 4 hours. We were tired and hungry. I didn't have energy to pick out frames for themselves. Maybe it is time to look for a different place. read more

If this review was for Dr Chang it would 5 stars because he was amazing. I am a new patient and chose Linden because they took my insurance and it's close to my house. My prescription is a challenge Dr Chang took his time to get it right. I work with a computer daily so it's a balance between seeing the computer , reading and seeing far with mono vision contacts. He accomplished that and no reading glasses needed! Wow! The reason for the 3 stars was that during my exam someone who obviously thought Dr Chang was taking too long came by and pounded on the door. Not a nice little wrap knock knock , a boom that made me jump. After the second time that this happened I could see it stressed out the doctor as much as me . So it seems it's more for important for Linden to file everyone through quickly rather than have a quality exam and remind the doctor in a very rude way to hurry up. When I left there were 20 people in the exam waiting room on a week day! They definitely rely on the number of people filing through. Also make sure that you know the prices ahead time. After asking the insurance person3 times if my insurance covered the eye glass exam and contact exam she assured me that it did but did not mention the $95 contact fitting fee that it did not cover So upon leaving even though my insurance is better than most it was 95 out of pocket. read more

After waiting for two weeks to receive the glasses the prescription happens to be wrong, made an appointment to get it fixed, first they refused to honor a confirmed appointment, then pretended they're doing me a favor by letting me in, make me wait one good hour before an optometrist can see me. Then they ask me to wait another 2-3 weeks to get my glasses. And this doesn't end here, cuz of a fucked up schedule they can't handle properly I end up getting a parking ticket too. Hell with them. I placed a "frames only" order with Linden. They required a copy of my Rx, even though I was just ordering the frames, and said it would take 5-7 days. When I hadn't heard from them on the 5th day, I sent an email to inquire on the status, but got no reply. A few days later, I called and left a phone message, and still got no reply. After another 10 days, I called again, left another message, and finally someone returned my call to admit that my order had never been placed. Due to this unreasonable delay, I then asked them to cancel my order. Now, they emailed me and confirmed that my order was cancelled due to a "miscommunication". A week later, I tried to place my frames order through a different vendor, but they were unable to apply my insurance benefits. Why??? Because Linden still has an authorization pending on my insurance even after they agreed to cancel. I am so disappointed that they do business this way. They have the best selection, but unfortunately I can't recommend them. read more

The stars are basically for their enormous range of frames. I've ordered new glasses through them twice now and both were catastrophes. The first time, Dec. 2016, they completely lost my order. I kept waiting and waiting for their promised call when the new glasses arrived, but nothing. Even after I followed up three weeks later and discovered that my order had never gone out (they could only track the order after I produced a receipt showing they had already taken my money), I got a promise in person that the order would go out that day. Fast forward two more weeks of silence and I'm told that my order was never placed. More personal assurances unfulfilled ("I'll call you tomorrow to confirm that the order went out," followed by no calls) and more calls by me to follow up. Basically, I called them every day. Two full months later, end of February, I finally got my 1-2 week order. The second time (Nov. 2017) wasn't as bad, but they missed their estimated delivery date by over two weeks. As a result, I had to leave for a long vacation wearing my old, broken glasses. Not cool. They have tons of people working there all the time, but their lack of organization and professionalism is astonishing. Major management incompetency. So, if you ever do give them your business, you'll need to CALL THEM EVERY SINGLE DAY until you have your glasses in your hands. Otherwise, they are completely unreliable. read more

Told it would take 3-4 days...great, was happy to pay for that...Here it is over 15 days and still waiting. Called Linden, service rep says glasses were awaiting 'inspection'. The entire process was quick but they overlooked no detail. I was able to schedule a same day appointment, went in for an eye exam on Wednesday and picked up my glasses on Friday. I should have posted this review last year when I purchased my last pair of glasses but oh well. Since I am now ready to purchase another pair, they will NOT be purchased from Linden. First off, I have had eye exams and purchased glasses from them since 1980...a long time. However, the purchase I made last year was the last time I will go to them for exams or glasses. When I received my glasses, they made an error on my prescription as the vision was weaker in the new glasses compared to the prior glasses. They reviewed and realized there was an error made. I was reexamined and the glasses were redone but the vision was still weak but I decided to just keep them...my bad. After 5 months of wear, I broke the nose of the frame and was advised that they could not fix the frames and they recommended that I purchase another pair...NOT. I would not recommend this place to anyone! It is not the place it used to be. read more

I had to return to Linden the other day because of my condition. Upon my arrival, I was treated with professionalism by their staff. I have been there a few times now, and really enjoy going there. The staff are professional in how they treat you and I feel with utmost respect. I must say, that the VA could learn from these folks! The eye testing is extremely thurough, and complete. Prices are reasonable for a store like this at this location. You might find better deals elsewhere though. Great selection. Doctors are nice. Staff is so-so. Like they said, it's VERY much like a car sales place or LA fitness. They like to add things to your prices last minute like size of lens has a $25 hidden fee, or certain lens needs polishing for ~$20 per lens, etc. All their frames has a code which they won't tell you other than the first letter which indicates the hundreds range. This is stupid. They have hidden fees that then then tell you at the very last minute once you seemed to make your decision like you're an idiot that can be manipulated. You never pay what you think stuff costs until you get the final bill. From the time of my appointment to my exam too 3 hrs (consistent estimate from many appointments... I kept track) and another hour to buy glasses. And as a other stated, I did encounter a little bit of attitude from the front end staff. The managers were nice though. You really should either get rid of these problematic employees or put them in the back where they don't interact with customers. (hint: one of your cashiers has a serious issue with dealing with guests). Don't let the cute girls fool you, they're just acting like car models to fool you to spend more money. The minute they aren't making a sale, they'll flip on you with attitude. I had at least one error in my order each time I've been there for the last two years, so it's a habit, not a mistake. After complaining, I must give compliments to Tina the manager and Ray the supervisor for fixing problem with my order (poor quality control, mix up, etc.) To management who reads this, I want to remind you that you are a service organization. You don't make the frames, you just sell them. Your bread and butter is not frames but service. Else, we can window shop and buy it online. Glasses.com has 3D face scan and free home try on now. When you buy a smartphone (which is about about the same price as a lot of your glasses), do you want it to freeze up? Not work right? No! So don't forget how much you charge for these glasses. We expect the same quality for our $500 whether we buy an Iphone, a laptop, front row seats at the Lakers games, as your service and product. It's hard to earn $500 these days, and no one wants to put up with crap when they're shelling out that much money. Take this as constructive criticism. I am not the only one that feels this way. As of today, your Yelp rating is 2.5 stars, which means it's crap. You have two good things going... a great location, and a large selection. Use it to your advantage. To me, the best part of Lindens is the doctors. I usually ask for Dr. Tom Wong for my eye checkups, and I have only good things to say about him. I've been wearing glasses/contacts since elementary school, which qualifies me as an expert! He is the best eye doctor I've been able to find, hands down. Contacts are his specialty; He's smart, patient, calm, pleasant, etc. My eyes are super sensitive to sunlight, so I wear non prescription sunglasses over my prescription contacts. Linden has tons of sunglasses to choose from, I'm not really into the bling aspect or the designer names - although there's plenty of that if you like it. I look for the best sun protection possible. I think Maui Jims have the best lenses, followed by Oakley. I've probably bought 4 to 5 Maui Jims over the years. Last, but not least, as a teacher, I give Linden's credit for providing eye exams to school children whose families can't afford it. I know they've been doing that with Young and Healthy program for years. read more

The military should stop waterboarding at Gitmo and instead send all the detainees to Linden Optometry where they'd spill the beans in a matter of minutes. This place is an endless loop of hell. Upon entering, Linden staff should provide all patients with a cowbell to wear around their neck because that's how you're treated: like cattle. And they apparently don't know what the word "appointment" means. Linden staff, here's the definition, please take notes: "a fixed mutual agreement for a meeting; engagement; a meeting set for a specific time or place." You make an appointment at Linden, they ask you to confirm, and warn you there's a $25 cancellation fee. Fair enough. So you show up early for said appointment, you check in, and you wait. And wait. And WAIT. And wait some more. Finally after waiting an hour for my appointment I gave up and walked out. People make appointments, especially on weekdays, because we need to GET BACK TO OUR JOBS. We don't have the luxury of sitting around for hours and hours on end, praying to be called. Seriously, why even take appointments if you're not honoring them? (And to top it off, the Linden exam employee asked me if I'd "like to reschedule?" Seriously.) If you're lucky enough to actually see a doctor and get an exam then you get to start the WHOLE PROCESS OVER AGAIN when trying to find someone to assist to aide in selecting frames. Why does getting an eye exam (with an appointment mind you), choosing frames and paying take almost three hours? We're not buying an f'ing car. It's less painful to sit through a weeklong timeshare seminar right after having multiple root canals sans Novocaine than it is to set foot inside Linden Optometry. #NeverAgain read more

Took my time to pick out new lenses and all their options. $200 bucks with insurance. All good. Then I go up there to pay. They slap down a big disclaimer for my signature. It says we're not responsible if we break your frames or the new lenses you bought. We are not obligated to provide anything for your money. You might get it, you might not. Sorry - I actually wanted to know I was going to get something in exchange for my money. They have a whole litany of things they are not responsible for and you're already at the end of the transaction before they break the news to you. Walk away. Don't waste your time at this crap of a place they call a shop. I don't care that they have a good selection of glasses to choose from -- the staff and customer service are a joke. I recently went in there for the first time. I wondered around aimlessly for about 10 minutes trying to figure out who the hell to talk to about getting some glasses repaired or potentially buying a new pair. After finally finding the place where you "take a number", I sat down for almost 10 minutes. When they called my number, I thought I would be helped immediately, but all they did was ask for my name and told me to sit down again. Then after another 10 minutes, I was greeted by a woman (Tina). I explained to her that I had purchased my glasses at at different store and needed some new lenses for glasses that I know and saw they carry in the store. To say Tina was clueless is an understatement. She told me to wait while she went to "go get some information". After another 20 minutes passes, no Tina, no help, no nada. So I inquired to the girl with the difficult task of taking numbers as to where the hell Tina went and she shrugged her shoulders. I asked for Tina's name and began to walk out. As I was halfway out the parking lot, I heard Tina screaming my name from the entrance (which was incredibly professional) and I kept walking. I should have turned around and given her the finger for wasting 40 minutes of my life but instead I kept walking. I am also writing a formal complaint letter to the owner(s). I can tell from the reviews here and other places I am not the only person who has complained about the terrible service. read more
