Lincoln Street Diner is one of those restaurants that my grandparents used to love because it's been around for forever and it has "good food at cheap prices." You know the type... small community diner, covering the basics of sandwiches or breakfast options, with a dedicated group of regulars. My mother, for example, used to work nearby and would go in for a BLT sandwich when she wanted to treat herself to something that reminded her of her younger years. For me personally, Lincoln Street Diner misses the mark when it comes to food... but the community atmosphere can generally be enjoyed (unless, you know, we're in the middle of a pandemic). I was with my mother yesterday and figured I would place an Ithaca To Go order that included a BLT and a side of fries for her, as well as a cheesesteak for me... and a side of corned beef hash to try. While my mother enjoyed her classic treat of their BLT sandwich, she did comment on how she doesn't know why she can't find fries from anywhere that are crispy... and it's true, the fries weren't crispy at all (not just because of the time it took for the delivery, but because they were just generally undercooked to begin with). She ended up putting them in the oven to crisp them up. As for my cheesesteak, it was basic... a hamburger bun-type roll, something "steak-umms"-esque for the cheesesteak, and mushrooms along with a white cheese sauce. Good enough to eat, but it ended up being about the only thing I could eat. Since it was smaller than I expected, I opted to try the corned beef hash as well... buuuuuut I couldn't finish the order. Why? Because the consistency was VERY unpleasant. Little potatoes in the hash? Great. Unfortunately, the corned beef itself had the consistency of mush... and I tossed most of it away. :( TL;DR The "good" part of the "good food at great prices"-sentiment is a bit questionable depending on what you order... and I've had better luck with breakfast items than lunch ones. The reality here is that if I hadn't grown up around the Ithaca area, and I was trying Lincoln Street Diner as someone from out of town, I'd be leaving with at least a bit of disappointment in the experience. The prices are low, there's a community feel... but the food is generally good or a real miss.

The decor of Lincoln Street Diner is authentic American style diner, simple and adorable. The staff used standing character cardboards to keep customers in social distance which was creative and interesting. The options on their menu are not super various but enough for a decent brunch & breakfast. We had Western Omelet, French toast and unlimited coffee with reasonable price and great portion. The food is overall delicious, especially the omelette. We love the omelette, which was well-cooked and kept the texture moist. The French Toast was simply tasty but kind of dry.

Quick service, fun atmosphere, happy workers, cheap food!! I ordered my omelette and got it in ~5 min. It's a small diner and it fills up quickly, but free space also opens up quickly. They give you stickers when you finish all the food on your plate!

This place is a hidden gem! It's so cute and homey, the food was great and reasonably priced, it was very fast service and the server was very kind. Highly recommend!

What a great find! Place is very small but the food is amazing. Our server was attentive and went out of her way to make us feel welcome and appreciated- even after spilling a full cup of coffee all over the table! She even remembered our drink preferences the next day! Seems like a locals favorite. Highly recommend.

Incredible breakfast!!! Absolutely love it every time I get it, and I order it to-go so you don't always get the highest quality at other restaurants when ordering to-go. But here you get their best, and quick (10 min)! If you're looking for a well cooked breakfast, this is the place to go. Very small amount of seating but no worries! If you didn't know where it was you might drive right by it.

Probably the best omelette I've ever had... 10/10 so delicious & the vibes were immaculately chill. Would come back and I live in California

French Mussels broth perfectly paired with truffle fries. Reports back on the Green Ramen, Ribeye and Bolognese dishes were very good. I think I out ordered them though.

I've had brunch, lunch, and dinner at MIX, and all with varying levels of enjoyment. My recent…read morebrunch experience included ordering a Where the West Begins omelette, which includes "Braised short rib, butternut squash, red onion jam, spinach, smoked gouda". I wasn't sure how to feel about butternut squash with everything else (I'm not necessarily a huge squash fan - but I'm trying to learn to enjoy it), but the omelette was decent... it's the other side on my plate that looked less than appetizing. The biscuit was still covered in flour (and who wants to bite down on a clump of flour?), the cheddar hashbrown casserole lacked in flavor, and the brown sugar cinnamon oatmeal just... wasn't doin' it for me. Other recent experiences have been similar... there's usually one item on the plate that's flavorful or imventive (sometimes a main dish, sometimes a side), and the other parts of the plate are lacking. In reality, I think MIX is suffering a bit from rising food costs and inconsistency in their service and offerings. They've also changed the style of their menu from the original tapas-style to now being more typical entree options. Again... they've lost some of their innovative, experimental approach. In terms of ambiance, it really depends. I've been here for a work event and, because of the number of people, it was SO LOUD... they had also done a buffet offering for the event. As you can imagine, the food from the buffet was lacking, but that's often what happens when you're more mass producing your food (and it's left in a chafing dish, trying to be kept warm). On the other hand, I've been here for a dinner on a random night and was able to enjoy one of their Thai noodle bowls (and split some other apps with friends). The reality is that experiences at MIX are... well... a mix. Whether service, menu offerings, etc., I've found MIX's recent inconsistencies to be a disappointment. Will probably only visit in the future if it's suggested by others.

I accidentally missed my reservation because it was the day before and I hadn't realized but he still accommodated and we were able to be seated still in the barstool area. The food is amazing. I always order Eggs "Edinburgh." Best poached eggs I have ever eaten. I used to think poached eggs were mid and then this place opened my third eye. I don't even liked smoked salmon but they do something special here it is so good. I can't remember the dessert's name and its not on the menu but they have this orange/poppyseed/coconut cake that is the best cake I have ever had in my entire life. I feel like I'm glazing so hard it doesn't even sound genuine, but my truth is every single other brunch place is mid compared to here. It is a very cutely decorated place and the servers are so kind. I would go back to Ithaca just for Allechant's Eggs Edinburgh and cake. I think of their food often. I chase that high that those eggs gave me, but nothing ever compares unfortunately, and I am just left disappointed. One day I will be back for you, Allechant.

Great spot for dinner in Ithaca! I love the house-made desserts!…read more I tried the mussels for appetizer which were very good. Not too heavy or salty. For mains I tried the vodka gnocchi and the cod stew. Both were excellent! I think if I were to return I would get the cod stew though- it is much more unique. Only complaint about the gnocchi is I wish there was more cheese on top. Desserts were divine! I love how they display them all on the table by the fireplace! We tried the pumpkin cake and the poppyseed coconut almond cake. I truly don't think I could pick a favorite. I wish the whipped cream was also homemade though. I came for dinner on a weekend night (with reservations). Service was solid. Overall, I would return! I will definitely be coming back to try their brunch!
